1st (3) (25/1 -56%) Gobi Sunset |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Gobi Sunset 25/1, C&D winner. Twenty-five runs since last win in 2021. 25/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good) 86 days ago. Back up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Charlie Johnston and looks vulnerable. Good record fresh means he's worth a look on his first run since leaving the Johnston yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 -54%) Power Of Darkness |
10/1(-54%) | (7) Power Of Darkness 10/1, 10/3, improved on recent efforts to win 7-runner handicap at Salisbury (8f, good to firm) 25 days ago, having benefit of enterprising ride. 0-4 on the AW. Ended a losing run latest; whether he'll be able to dominate down from 1m is the question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 -22%) Showtime Mahomes |
11/2(-22%) | (5) Showtime Mahomes 11/2, Didn't need to improve to win 9-runner handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, good to soft, 7/2) 16 days ago. Remains on a good mark up 2 lb and he has to enter calculations. No issue with 7f lately and remains fairly treated now back in form; goes on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (13/2 +19%) Streak Lightning |
13/2(+19%) | (4) Streak Lightning 13/2, C&D winner. Eighth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 19 days ago. Capable of making an impact but others possess more compelling credentials. Three-time course winner; had excuses with one thing and another in better company of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (33/1 -65%) Bobby Joe Leg |
33/1(-65%) | (12) Bobby Joe Leg 33/1, Five-time C&D winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 18/1, below form sixth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago. Percentage call is to look elsewhere. Does most racing now at a lower level and was well held behind Verona Star last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (9/1 +25%) Al Baahy |
9/1(+25%) | (8) Al Baahy 9/1, Winner at Wetherby in May. 14/1, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) 23 days ago, not ideally placed. Place possibilities. Consistent enough this season; no obvious reason he won't go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/1 -8%) Abruzzo Mia |
7/1(-8%) | (1) Abruzzo Mia 7/1, One win from 3 runs this year. 4/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D 24 days ago. 5 lb rise tolerable and likely to be in the mix. Lightly raced 6yo; this looks a stronger race but he could well be up to the task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (7/2 +50%) Lion's Dream |
7/2(+50%) | (11) Lion's Dream 7/2, Unreliable individual. 12/1 and hooded for 1st time, bit below form third of 15 in minor event at Doncaster (8f, good) 15 days ago, doing too much too soon. Has slipped to a dangerous mark and needs considering. Been a struggle since his C&D second but he's often pulled hard over further; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (6/1 +25%) Verona Star |
6/1(+25%) | (9) Verona Star 6/1, C&D winner. Creditable third of 10 in handicap at this C&D (6/1) 13 days ago, clear of rest. Can make his presence felt off the same mark. Appreciated the return here when showing more latest; that gave something to build on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (50/1 -79%) San Isidro |
50/1(-79%) | (6) San Isidro 50/1, First run since leaving James Ferguson when twelfth of 13 in handicap (33/1) at Doncaster (6f, good to soft) 18 days ago, possibly amiss. Plenty to prove at present. No signs of a revival back from a break for his new yard last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (14/1 +36%) Yoshimi |
14/1(+36%) | (2) Yoshimi 14/1, Latest win at Leicester in August. Creditable third of 11 in handicap at this C&D (8/1) 13 days ago. Clearly in good nick but others make more appeal for win purposes all the same. Tapeta record would be best described as patchy; arrives in decent form though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (17/2 +15%) Patontheback |
17/2(+15%) | (10) Patontheback 17/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in August. Last of 10 in handicap (5/2) at this C&D 13 days ago. Likely to find one or two too good. Bombed as favourite behind two of these here a fortnight ago; that will need forgiving. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ABRUZZO MIA appeared to win a shade cosily on his return to action over C&D last month and looks capable of defying a 5lb rise in the ratings. Power of Darkness found the switch to more aggressive tactics to his liking when making all at Salisbury last time out and the eight-year-old must enter calculations. Fellow in-form rivals Yoshimi and Showtime Mahomes are others to consider in a competitive opener.
The vote goes to VERONA STAR, who returned to form following a string of below par efforts off this reduced mark when third over C&D recently. Lion's Dream doesn't always help himself by pulling hard but he put in a decent shift at Doncaster last time and he went close on his sole previous visit here off an 11 lb higher mark in February. Last-time-out winners Showtime Mahomes and Abruzzo Mia also command respect.
Abruzzo Mia is respected, but former sprinter SHOWTIME MAHOMES is unexposed over this trip and remains on a fair mark.

20/1(-67%) | (5) Loom Large 20/1, 11/1, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Redcar (8f, good) 13 days ago. Back up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Needs a couple of these to falter. Won't mind the step back up from 1m; holds each-way claims on his Tapeta debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (5.5/1 -22%) Oscar Doodle |
5.5/1(-22%) | (10) Oscar Doodle 5.5/1, Consistent performer who posted another creditable effort when ½-length second of 10 to Prince Achille in handicap over C&D 13 days ago. Likely to go well again. Proven winner who likes it here and arrives in form; closely matched with Prince Achille. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

2.5/1(+77%) | (1) Elshaameq 2.5/1, 11/1, good fourth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 24 days ago, slowly away. Looks competitive on form. Not beaten far over C&D despite pulling hard and hanging right; is well up to winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 -13%) Ghost Rider |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Ghost Rider 9/1, Course winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2021. Ninth of 14 in handicap (13/2) at this C&D 48 days ago. Blinkers back on. Others more persuasive. The handicapper's giving him every chance but he's become very inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (4/1 +27%) Spirit Of Ash |
4/1(+27%) | (12) Spirit Of Ash 4/1, Scored twice here this season and ran just as well in defeat when second of 10 over C&D 6 days ago. Likely to be in mix again. Goes well here; again hit traffic off tonight's mark six days ago; high on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -56%) Danielsflyer |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Danielsflyer 25/1, Course winner. 50/1, creditable seventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D 24 days ago. Each-way claims. Veteran who's on the downgrade and lacks consistency now; there are likelier winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (33/1 -175%) Carlton |
33/1(-175%) | (9) Carlton 33/1, Creditable eighth of 13 in handicap (16/1) at Ayr (8f, good to soft) 10 days ago, very slowly away. Back up in trip. Still looking for first success. Signs of life lately, considering he hasn't looked best served by the drop to 1m; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (14/1 -40%) Reflex |
14/1(-40%) | (11) Reflex 14/1, Last of 6 in handicap at Brighton (9.9f, good to soft, 8/1) 21 days ago. Posted good third here previously, however, and may well bounce back. Tame effort round Brighton latest (first crack at 1m2f); the return to Tapeta should help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (8/1 -78%) Prince Achille |
8/1(-78%) | (7) Prince Achille 8/1, Back to winning ways in 10-runner handicap over C&D 13 days ago by ½ length from Oscar Doodle. 2 lb rise fair and is one for shortlist. Back in the groove over C&D last time, when grinding down Oscar Doodle; 2lb rise fair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (16/1 -60%) Crafter |
16/1(-60%) | (8) Crafter 16/1, 40/1, good third of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 69 days ago, slowly away. Others more appealing. Offered more down to this trip last time and that gave something to build on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (9/1 +36%) Apollo's Angel |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Apollo's Angel 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 49 days ago. Back up in trip. Work to do. Hasn't progressed as expected since handicapping and has a bit to prove now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (66/1 -200%) Whirlwind |
66/1(-200%) | (2) Whirlwind 66/1, 40/1, last of 12 in handicap at Epsom (8.5f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Chance on old form. Regressive maiden; would want to see good support before considering him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PRINCE ACHILLE was value for further when scoring over C&D in September and is fancied to uphold form with reopposing Oscar Doodle (second) despite the 1lb worse terms. Brian Ellison's gelding is likely to be on the premises once more and cannot be dismissed in his current form. Spirit Of Ash was runner-up over track and trip on Tuesday and also warrants consideration off the same mark here.
Recent C&D winner PRINCE ACHILLE still looks on a workable mark and can follow up. Oscar Doodle and Spirit of Ash can also make their presence felt.
The vote goes to SPIRIT OF ASH (nap), who'll probably fluff the start but who's well up to making it 3-4 over C&D off this mark.

1st (6) (1.38/1 +39%) Vaguely Royal |
1.38/1(+39%) | (6) Vaguely Royal 1.38/1, Off the mark at Doncaster (11.9f) in June and ran to a similar level when good fourth of 9 over same C&D 18 days ago. Warrants respect on tapeta debut. Inclined to pull since gelded/handicapping; this mark should be within range if amenable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/1 +73%) La Pulga |
11/1(+73%) | (5) La Pulga 11/1, 40/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at Haydock (14f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Others more persuasive. AW debut; the surface switch needs to do the trick over a trip that's a minimum now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4.5/1 -125%) Concorde |
4.5/1(-125%) | (4) Concorde 4.5/1, 4 wins from 6 runs this year. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Newbury (10f, heavy, 3/1) 10 days ago. 5 lb higher now but this longer trip could unlock further improvement. Makes tapeta debut. Progressed sharply since handicapping; holds leading claims again upped from 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6.5/1 -18%) Royal Scandal |
6.5/1(-18%) | (2) Royal Scandal 6.5/1, Course winner. Eighth of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good, 28/1) 36 days ago. Back up in trip. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Is 2-3 on the AW, so the reutun to Tapeta should help, but she has it to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/1 +22%) Savvy Knight |
7/1(+22%) | (1) Savvy Knight 7/1, Ran too badly to be true at York last time and was only narrowly denied over C&D previously. Not out of things. Very patchy since winning his first three last year; hard to know what to expect in truth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (4/1 +11%) Chillhi |
4/1(+11%) | (7) Chillhi 4/1, Course winner. Twelfth of 13 in handicap at York (13.8f, good to firm, 28/1) 37 days ago. Others more appealing. Ordinary run at York (some way behind Vaguely Royal); needs deal more if he's to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (125/1 -56%) Achnamara |
125/1(-56%) | (3) Achnamara 125/1, 80/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, first run since leaving Harry Fry when last of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 25 days ago. Hard to fancy. Pulled hard and offered little for his new yard early last month; outsider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Representing the George Boughey yard, CONCORDE is a thoroughly likeable sort. The three-year-old put a blip, when seventh at Pontefract in June, behind him with a taking victory at Newbury recently. The son of Sixties Icon is fancied to continue his upward trajectory by completing a double off 5lb higher. Vaguely Royal displayed more promise when fourth at Doncaster last month and is feared most, ahead of top-weight Savvy Knight, who posted a solid second over C&D in July.
CONCORDE is still progressing and can register his fifth win of the season. Vaguely Royal and Savvy Knight are feared most.
It's easy enough to pick holes in most of these but not CONCORDE, who's fancied to defy a 5lb rise and make it 5-7 in handicaps.

1st (1) (11/4 +0%) Consoling |
11/4(+0%) | (1) Consoling 11/4, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Musselburgh in August. Good second of 6 in nursery (15/2) at this C&D 24 days ago. Others less exposed. Ran creditably in C&D nursery last time; proving versatile and consistent; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -29%) Vintage Love |
9/2(-29%) | (4) Vintage Love 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1, creditable third of 9 in nursery at Catterick (7f, soft) 9 days ago. Has the form to play a part. Has shown consistent form in defeat; holds a fighting chance at the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 -30%) Gregorina |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Gregorina 13/2, Foaled May 6. 19,000 gns 2-y-o. Sister to 6f winner Loch Carron and half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 1m/9f winner Glenall and 2-y-o 5f/6f winner Glenkitt. Hooded, fourth of 7 in maiden at Brighton (7f, good to soft, 10/1) on debut 21 days ago, nearest finish. Should have more to offer. Brighton debut effort suggests she'll relish this step up to 1m; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

1/1(+33%) | (2) Placeholder 1/1, Foaled February 18. 15,000 gns yearling, Masar filly. Half-sister to 7f/1m winner Zulu Tracker. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner (stayed 6f). The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Consoling sets a reasonable standard and is notable back in a novice stakes after a near-miss in a nursery here last month. That form looks solid and there should be more to come from Ollie Pears' filly. Nevertheless, PLACEHOLDER looked professional when making a winning start over C&D three weeks ago and the daughter of Masar is taken retain her unbeaten status. Vintage Love is preferred over Gregorina as best of the rest.
An open novice event, and not easy to rule any out, but PLACEHOLDER gets the nod after her winning debut with the possibility of more to come. Gregorina has a bit to find but can be expected to take a step forward from her debut Brighton fourth, while Vintage Love is more exposed but is marginally the pick on form on these terms.
Granted normal progress, PLACEHOLDER could well defy a 7lb penalty and follow up her C&D win. Consoling is second choice.

33/1(-136%) | (3) Miss Rainbow 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in maiden (25/1) at this course (7.1f). Off 95 days. Makes handicap debut. Better off now handicapping but her trainer is 0-69 with 2yos down the seasons. |

8/1(+11%) | (5) Socialise 8/1, 16/1, bit below form fourth of 11 in nursery at this course (7.1f) 13 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Exposed maiden who's still to finish placed; first-time cheekpieces need to help. |

33/1(-32%) | (4) Yiengaa 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, sixth of 7 in novice event at Carlisle (5.8f, soft) 19 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Should find things easier now handicapping at a lowly level; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

22/1(-83%) | (9) Rock Lodge 22/1, Creditable fifth of 10 in nursery at Carlisle (5f, good to firm, 10/1) 25 days ago. Respected. Needs to settle but looks the main threat to Tropical Air on either of his last two runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (33/1 -313%) Unowho |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Having won his last two starts in a pleasing manner, TROPICAL AIR has looked a different proposition since he was gelded and the hat-tick looks to be on the cards. A 6lb penalty is a slight concern, which opens the door for the likes of Socialise to throw down the gauntlet in first-time cheekpieces. Miss Rainbow and Unowho also appeal as live dangers.
TROPICAL AIR is on a roll now and looks up to completing the hat-trick under a penalty. Unowho is next best ahead of Rock Lodge.
The progressive TROPICAL AIR has been found the perfect race as he looks to complete a hat-trick. Rock Lodge is second best.

The hat-tirck seeking Rodborough appears capable of launching another bold bid, despite being 5lb higher than the most recent of her victories. However, this is more demanding and a supporting role could await if DANDY DINMONT continues to build on what has been a respectable string of recent performances. Having won under Faye McManoman over C&D around this time last year, a 4lb higher mark might not be prevent a return to wining ways. Jojo Rabbit and Bayraat are also feared.
RODBOROUGH was going away at the finish when making it 2 from 2 in this headgear at Southwell 5 weeks ago and can complete the hat-trick. Sound Reason is back on a winning mark back down is class and is not taken lightly, with in-form 3-y-o Moulin Booj another to consider.
There won't be any trip or ground excuses for MOULIN BOOJ this evening and he can prove he is still a well-handicapped sprinter.

Sets a high standard and more to come. Beat a 1-25 shot, who's won since, in a Ripon match on her debut; entitled to improve. |

4th (2) (18/1 -125%) Reel Prospect |
18/1(-125%) | (2) Reel Prospect 18/1, €14,000 foal, £23,000 yearling, Highland Reel gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 6f/7f winner Hailstone and 2-y-o 5f winner Candy Apples. Third of 10 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good to firm, 11/1) on debut, closing all way to line. Off 16 months. Last spring's promising debut let down since; interesting to see how he goes in the market. |

5th (6) (100/1 +0%) Debby's Delight |
100/1(+0%) | (6) Debby's Delight 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, ninth of 11 in minor event at Lingfield (12f, AW) 76 days ago, not clear run. Significantly down in trip. Hard to make a case for. Big prices and well beaten in two starts over further; low-grade handicaps probably next. |

6th (4) (50/1 +0%) Highland Loch |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Highland Loch 50/1, Highland Reel colt. Half-brother to useful German 9f winner Ma Belle Molly. Dam German 11f winner. Might want more of a test in due course and is likely best watched on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
REEL PROSPECT showed plenty of ability on his debut at Nottingham when a close-up third and the four-year-old would have learned a great deal from that experience, so he can take a step forward to strike. Karmology produced a shock result to deny Doom by a length on debut and she could prove that was no fluke. Akkadian Thunder isn't out of it either after his success at Kempton.
Debut-winner KARMOLOGY is the pick on these terms and open to improvement, so she gets the nod over Akkadian Thunder, another winner first time up. Reel Prospect also shaped well on debut, and it will be interesting to see what the market has to say after a long lay-off.
There appeared no fluke about KARMOLOGY's surprise beating of a 1-25 shot on debut and she's narrowly preferred to Akkadian Thunder

12/1(-20%) | (1) Jewel Of Kabeir 12/1, Below par latest but posted good fourth of 12 at Carlisle (7.8f) previously and warrants respect. Chances are she'll need plenty of pushing but is capable at this level if things pan out. |

4th (7) (6/1 -100%) Intoxicata |
6/1(-100%) | (7) Intoxicata 6/1, Winner at Lingfield in June who got back on track, in first-time visor, when good second of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 18 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Remains fairly treated and not taken lightly. Visor brought about a much better effort last time; needs to settle over this stiffer 1m. |

5th (9) (9/1 +10%) Darker |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Darker 9/1, 9/1, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 7 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Regressive maiden who hasn't been seeing it out over further lately; yard been quiet. |

6th (5) (3/1 +0%) Girl From Italy |
3/1(+0%) | (5) Girl From Italy 3/1, Arrives on back of 2 good efforts on AW, latest when second of 13 in handicap over C&D 13 days ago. Shortlist material. Best efforts have all come from the front; seems happier on Tapeta than turf; player. |

7th (10) (80/1 -142%) Skedaddled |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Skedaddled 80/1, Remains a maiden after 21 Flat runs. 40/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, soft) 14 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Makes limited appeal. Long time since her trainer had a winner and it's unlikely this mare will change that. |

8th (6) (9/1 -13%) Coconut Bay |
9/1(-13%) | (6) Coconut Bay 9/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this course (10.2f, 14/1) 6 days ago. Down in trip. Others look better treated. Whether she'll have the pace for this is the question and she's regressive anyway. |

9th (2) (40/1 -186%) Parr Fire |
40/1(-186%) | (2) Parr Fire 40/1, 13/2, seventh of 9 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) 31 days ago, very slowly away. Significantly up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Nigel Tinkler. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (80/1 -142%) Real Quiz |
80/1(-142%) | (8) Real Quiz 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 11 in handicap (33/1) at Chelmsford City (10f). Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving David Loughnane. Others preferred. Four poor efforts for David Loughnane (1m2f-1m4f); would be a surprise winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (7/2 +65%) My Boy Teddy |
7/2(+65%) | (12) My Boy Teddy 7/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 12 in maiden (150/1) at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 44 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Ms Claire O'Connell. Hooded for 1st time. Improvement required on yard/handicap debut. Showed next to nothing in five runs in Ireland; the market will be the ultimate guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (40/1 -82%) Miss Snuggles |
40/1(-82%) | (11) Miss Snuggles 40/1, 66/1 and visored for 1st time, respectable fourth of 9 in minor event at Catterick (7f, good) 33 days ago. Up against it. Bit better in the visor latest; ran fairly here last summer; no shock to see her involved. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GIRL FROM ITALY had Pop Favorite (fourth) well held when second over C&D last time and she has only been put up 2lb for that display. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor could take another step forward to shed her maiden tag. Intoxicata showed a liking for a first-time visor as she filled the runner-up berth at Chelmsford on her latest outing and she has to be respected, along with Coconut Bay.
Preference is for GIRL FROM ITALY, who has found improvement since switching to artificial surfaces and remains feasibly treated. Intoxicata and Jewel of Kabeir should also go well.
Three-time course winner ROYAL PROSPECT hasn't had much luck of late and gets the nod for his new yard off a career-low mark.
Ths is the racecard key.
