13:45 Newbury Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having filled the runner-up berth at Bath and Yarmouth in recent months, compensation could be headed in EXPERT WITNESS' direction. Sir Mark Todd's filly is effectively racing off a 5lb lower mark if taking Ned Sangster's 7lb claim into account and she edges the vote over Anglo Saxson. The seven-year-old arrives in good heart and this longer trip looks worth another go. Finn Russell also enters calculations after a solid third on his return from a break at Windsor recently.

This can go to EXPERT WITNESS, who was clear of the rest when runner-up at Yarmouth last month and remains fairly treated. Albus Anne and Anglo Saxson head the list of dangers.

The suggestion is GERT LUSH, who goes well for Megan Jordon and who moves back up in trip after a very respectable effort over 1m.

14:20 Newbury Stakes (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

There was enough encouragement to be taken from BERKSHIRE KAMEO's debut third at Goodwood to suggest that he can land a race at this level. The son of Kameko should put that experience to good use and he rates as the one to beat. Connections of 525,000gns debutant Anno Domini will be looking to recoup some of that hefty purchase price and market support for Charlie Appleby's colt must be noted. Organ is also likely to feature after a promising fourth here in mid-May.

Usually a typically interesting novice for the track and this certainly fits the bill on paper, with Godolphin's ANNO DOMINI, another expensive Craven Breeze-Up purchase by them, taken to become their latest 2-y-o to strike on debut. Wild Clary was a huge eye-catcher here first time up last month and looks set to improve markedly. Mighty Ruler and Seraph Gabriel are a couple of the other notable newcomers.

This looks a good novice. Charlie Appleby won this two years ago and he introduces the 525,000gns breeze-up buy ANNO DOMINI.

14:50 Newbury Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Havanarama struggled to land a blow when outclassed at Chester last month and it would be no surprise to see Hugo Palmer's gelding bounce back at a more suitable level. However, BORN A REBEL makes slightly more appeal having finished a close-up second at Leicester when attempting to supplement a Yarmouth triumph. A further 2lb rise in the ratings looks more than fair for the Outstrip filly and a second victory could be on the cards. Asimov may chase the duo home.

BORN A REBEL comes here on the back of a very good Leicester second when giving the winner first run so is fancied to quickly resume winning ways off just a 2 lb higher mark. Asimov also didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fourth at Nottingham last time out so heads the list of dangers. Havanarama is another who can have a say if shrugging off a lesser effort at Chester.

James Fanshawe's ASIMOV appeals as one with more to offer and gets the vote if taking his chance. Born A Rebel is solid.

15:25 Newbury Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GLOBAL ASSET took a step forward when a neck second on his handicap debut over this trip at Windsor a month ago and William Haggas' unexposed gelding merits the utmost respect, despite a 3lb rise in the ratings. Great Acclaim is an obvious threat following his breakthrough success at the same venue. Tayala edges out Heartwarmer to be best of the rest.

GLOBAL ASSET was strong in the betting when runner-up on handicap debut at Windsor, denied only by another improver, and he's worth a chance to go one better with further progress on the cards. Last-time-out winner Great Acclaim is an obvious threat and Heartwarmer deserves respect following an encouraging run in a relatively competitive event at Newmarket.

There's no doubt further improvement in GLOBAL ASSET who did everything but win at Windsor in a solidly run race.

16:00 Newbury Stakes (Class 2) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

CLOVE HITCH has improved with every start to date and an official mark of 90 suggests that the daughter of Siyouni will be hard to beat in this company. Sambucus and Izipizi have also shown ability and should not be discounted, although both will need to progress to beat the selection. Fior Di Bosco, a 240,000gns purchase, is a half-sister to the 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold and is the pick of the newcomers, ahead of stablemate Heaven Blessed.

Having finished third in a very warm C&D maiden in April, CLOVE HITCH took another step forward when second at Windsor, clear of the rest. She can go another place better, possibly at the chief expense of Sambucus and Izipzi unless there's strong market support for a newcomer.

The standard is set by CLOVE HITCH and it's a pretty high one. Sambucus is a possible big improver after her Bath debut.

16:30 Newbury Handicap (Class 3) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

HICKORY arrives here on the back of two very encouraging efforts this season, the most recent of which being a fourth in the Victoria Cup last month. Down in grade and off the same mark, the six-year-old can take full advantage. Pearle D'or was behind the selection when sent off favourite at Ascot, but showed more at Doncaster subsequently and should not be discounted. The shortlist is completed by Be Frank, Game Set and Sterling Knight.

Plenty in with a squeak but METAVERSE resumed progress with the return to 7f firmly in his favour when runner-up at Kempton just over 3 weeks ago and, provided he takes to the turf, David Menuisier's 4-y-o is fancied to double his career tally at the expense of Hickory, who did well under the circumstances when fourth at Ascot last month and has William Buick up for the first time. Pearle d'Or can edge out Under The Twilight for third.

Stacks went wrong for HICKORY (nap) in the Victoria Cup last time but he still ran on into fourth of 21 in that top handicap.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WHENTHEDEALINSDONE returned to turf with a solid effort for fourth behind Sixties Chic at Windsor towards the end of last month and a 7lb swing on this occasion makes Roger Teal's gelding of significant interest. Sixties Chic is likely to find life tougher, despite being progressive this year, while last week's Nottingham scorer Abbey Heights and the consistent veteran Treacherous are others likely to be in the mix.

SIXTIES CHIC was value for extra when scoring at Windsor last time, having to overcome trouble in running, so she is taken to continue her good run of form and follow up. Whenthedealinsdone has also been going through a good spell and could be thereabouts once more, with Starproof completing the shortlist.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LAURA BAY stepped forward on her handicap bow when getting off the mark here over 1m2f. The daughter of New Bay seemed to appreciate a sounder surface and is expected to benefit from an extra couple of furlongs. Rakki produced his best effort so far when third behind a couple of progressive types at Windsor and has to enter the reckoning. Al Khawaneej River and handicap debutant North Winterfell complete the shortlist.

A tight-knit handicap in which the handily-weighted AULIS is taken to get off the mark with the form of his latest Salisbury third having been franked. Course scorer Laura Bay is feared most now her stamina is drawn out more with in-form maidens Rakki and Forest Hills also in the picture.

1m2f Newbury winner LAURA BAY can score again from Forest Hills, with Wonder Kid and Al Khawaneej River also considered.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
