By Pass |
(13) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (13) By Pass 12/1, Modest maiden on Flat whose standout effort over hurdles came when third of 8 in juvenile at Hereford (2m, 125/1) in February. Fell fourth having jumped well up until then in visor at Wincanton last time. Could find a small race.
1st (1) (1.25/1 +29%) Magical Maggie |
1.25/1(+29%) | (1) Magical Maggie 1.25/1, Took her record to 3-4 (only defeat in the Aintree Nickel Coin bumper) when making a successful hurdles debut at Uttoxeter on return, untidy 2 out but quickening clear. Disappointing twice since (listed race latest) though and back from a break now.
2nd (2) (7.5/1 -88%) Stopherandgo |
7.5/1(-88%) | (2) Stopherandgo 7.5/1, Made frame all completed starts in Irish points and all the better for hurdles debut (bled) when causing surprise in similar event at Wincanton last month. The promising third won a handicap off 96 next time and she can do better.
3rd (6) (1.62/1 +14%) Gaye Legacy |
1.62/1(+14%) | (6) Gaye Legacy 1.62/1, Progressing by the run, all the while kept around 2m when she's bred for a trip, edged out on the line at Warwick 3 weeks ago. More to come and leading claims.
4th (7) (100/1 +50%) Lucky Draw |
100/1(+50%) | (7) Lucky Draw 100/1, Modest on the Flat and has achieved little in a couple of maiden hurdles this year.
5th (5) (7/1 +42%) Emily's Star |
7/1(+42%) | (5) Emily's Star 7/1, Quite a good pedigree but well held in a warm Ascot bumper in November 2021 and given a considerate introduction to hurdling 16 months on at Warwick. Likely to need more time.
6th (8) (150/1 -50%) Miss Pearl |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Miss Pearl 150/1, Sixth in a Carlisle bumper before falling in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle in January 2022. Has left Stuart Crawford.
7th (4) (125/1 -150%) Aviewofthestars |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Aviewofthestars 125/1, Last of 5 in a point bumper in January and dropped away in Warwick novice hurdle 3 weeks ago. Likely to need more time.
8th (12) (300/1 -50%) Tara Haze |
300/1(-50%) | (12) Tara Haze 300/1, Little impact in bumpers/2 Ffos Las hurdles.
9th (11) (300/1 -50%) Sally's Girl |
300/1(-50%) | (11) Sally's Girl 300/1, Little impact in bumpers/2 similar events over hurdles.
|U| (10) (28/1 -155%) Pollyonesock |
28/1(-155%) | (10) Pollyonesock 28/1, Modest form in bumpers. Work to do on hurdles debut.
|U| (9) (33/1 -50%) Nancy Till |
33/1(-50%) | (9) Nancy Till 33/1, Promising in Irish points. Bred to stay well and shaped as if in need of a greater emphasis on stamina in 20f Ffos Las novice hurdle recently. One for handicaps over further.
10th (3) (300/1 -50%) Autumn Blaze |
300/1(-50%) | (3) Autumn Blaze 300/1, No promise in Hereford bumpers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Magical Maggie has proved somewhat underwhelming in both appearances since her ready success at Uttoxeter in October and she may be worth taking on. GAYE LEGACY ran her best race to date when just denied at Warwick last month and a reproduction of that effort may suffice. Stopherandgo has a 7lb winner's penalty to contend with having won on her second start over hurdles at Wincanton in March, but the six-year-old may have more to offer and shouldn't be underestimated.
The progressive GAYE LEGACY looks well placed to open her account. Stopherandgo was full value for her Wincanton win and is set for another big run under a penalty. Magical Maggie could bounce back to form after a break/dropped in class, while By Pass may find a small race having showed aptitude for hurdling.
Another chance is given to MAGICAL MAGGIE, who has a point to prove but looked a good prospect on her hurdling debut in the autumn.

1st (2) (2.25/1 +25%) La Renommee |
2.25/1(+25%) | (2) La Renommee 2.25/1, Has taken well to fences and she got off the mark in 7-runner handicap chase over C&D 32 days ago by 1¼ lengths from Fortunes Melody. Up 2 lb but firmly in the picture.
2nd (3) (4.5/1 +47%) Volkovka |
4.5/1(+47%) | (3) Volkovka 4.5/1, Fairly useful hurdler who shaped with some encouragement in this sphere, making a bad error when 8¾ lengths fifth of 7 to La Renommee over C&D 32 days ago. Shortlisted off a 3 lb lower mark.
3rd (4) (2.5/1 -33%) Walk In Clover |
2.5/1(-33%) | (4) Walk In Clover 2.5/1, Fair chaser who appeared to excel herself when second of 3 in novice chase over C&D 40 days ago, despite pulling hard. Weighted to go close back in handicap company.
4th (1) (3.33/1 -33%) Fortunes Melody |
3.33/1(-33%) | (1) Fortunes Melody 3.33/1, Useful hurdler in France who gained small-field victories over hurdles/fences at up to 20f for present yard in the autumn. Has remained in good form since, second over C&D last time. Ought to be in the shake-up off a 1 lb lower mark.
5th (5) (8.5/1 -21%) Cotton End |
8.5/1(-21%) | (5) Cotton End 8.5/1, Fair winner at 20f over hurdles. 16/1, creditable 3 lengths third of 7 to La Renommee in handicap chase over C&D 32 days ago. It's now eleven runs since her last win in 2021, though.
6th (6) (125/1 -25%) Ingeborg Zilling |
125/1(-25%) | (6) Ingeborg Zilling 125/1, Still a maiden, and she has been off for 11 months since beating only one in 3m handicap chase at Warwick. 24 lb out of the handicap too. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A 2lb rise for LA RENOMMEE's C&D triumph last month could prove lenient and Dr Richard Newland's mare is hard to oppose. Fortunes Melody finished just behind in second on that occasion, but looked flattered by her proximity to the winner and a 3lb pull on the official ratings may not be enough to reverse the form. Therefore, Walk In Clover, who was far from disgraced when runner-up in a novice chase here in February, is feared most.
WALK IN CLOVER looked to take a step forward when runner-up over C&D last time and can go one better now reverting to handicap company off a handy-looking mark. La Renommee beat a few of these over C&D last month and is rated next best ahead of the consistent Fortunes Melody.
The rematch between La Renommee, Fortunes Melody and Cotton End looks tight. WALK IN CLOVER is an interesting alternative.

1st (2) (1/1 +33%) Space Voyage |
1/1(+33%) | (2) Space Voyage 1/1, Bumper winner last summer who has taken well to hurdling, winning small-field novices at Lingfield (19.5f) and Huntingdon (20.5f) this year. Likely to make a bold bid for the hat-trick.
2nd (3) (3.33/1 +45%) Ajp Kingdom |
3.33/1(+45%) | (3) Ajp Kingdom 3.33/1, Showed ability in points and accounted for 7 rivals on Rules debut in a Bangor bumper in September. In need of experience when 14 lengths second of 6 on 21f Kempton hurdle debut in November. Unexposed and respected back after a break.
3rd (4) (2.25/1 +44%) Guy |
2.25/1(+44%) | (4) Guy 2.25/1, Winless since 2020, althoug he's usually performed with credit in handicap chases since then, including latest fourth of 11 at Kempton. Ought to be competitive back hurdling for the first time since 2019.
4th (5) (25/1 -25%) Hill Of Tara |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Hill Of Tara 25/1, From a good jumping family but has shown only minor proimise in a bumper and maiden hurdle 15 months apart. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SPACE VOYAGE has proved a different proposition in novice hurdles since being ridden more prominently and Olly Murphy's mare looks capable of completing a hat-trick. Hercules Morse got off the mark at the third time of asking when winning a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las in January and he looks the selection's biggest threat. Guy has some useful chase form to his name, but switches to the smaller obstacles for the first time since 2019 and may come up short.
SPACE VOYAGE seems to know where the winning post is and is taken to enhance her already impressive strike-rate. Fellow hurdle winner Hercules Morse may give Olly Murphy's mare most to think about.
Olly Murphy's mare SPACE VOYAGE battled well to complete a double at Huntingdon last month and might be the answer here.

1st (1) (3.33/1 +0%) Annsam |
3.33/1(+0%) | (1) Annsam 3.33/1, Course winner who also scored at Kempton in January. Ridden too aggressively when seventh of 13 in 3m handicap there 37 days ago. Good jumper. Worth another chance.
2nd (5) (6.5/1 +19%) The Wolf |
6.5/1(+19%) | (5) The Wolf 6.5/1, Unreliable type who was pulled up in Ultima Handicap at Cheltenham 20 days ago. Visor replaces blinkers now but still needs a couple of these to falter.
3rd (4) (6.5/1 +28%) Le Cameleon |
6.5/1(+28%) | (4) Le Cameleon 6.5/1, Returned to form from out of the blue in 6-runner handicap chase over C&D 32 days ago, battling well. Can give another good account despite taking a 4 lb rise.
4th (3) (6/1 +0%) Good Boy Bobby |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Good Boy Bobby 6/1, Successful twice at Wetherby last season, including the Rowland Meyrick. Yet to hit top form this term, thirteenth in Ultima Handicap at Cheltenham 20 days ago, but this is easier and he now figures on a handy-looking mark.
5th (6) (4/1 -14%) Dibble Decker |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Dibble Decker 4/1, Is clearly getting the hang of chasing now the cheekpieces have gone on and he bids for a hat-trick after a pair of 2m4f handicap wins at Huntingdon. Up another 4 lb but has more to offer over this longer trip. Leading claims.
6th (7) (20/1 -43%) Captain Tommy |
20/1(-43%) | (7) Captain Tommy 20/1, Disappointed on final start for David Bridgwater in the spring and has offered little on both starts for present yard, having a wind op before only third of 4 at Sedgefield last time. Easy to look elsewhere from 2 lb out of the handicap too.
|PU| (2) (3/1 +0%) Bobhopeornohope |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Bobhopeornohope 3/1, C&D winner in December. Not discredited when fourth of 13 in 3m 3m handicap at Kempton since, especially as he chased a strong pace, so he needs considering. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BOBHOPEORNOHOPE won over C&D two starts ago and was not disgraced when fourth in a valuable event at Kempton last time. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance here. The hat-trick seeking Dibble Decker is an obvious threat, although he will need to find some improvement to defy a career-high mark. Annsam and Le Cameleon are others who make the shortlist.
DIBBLE DECKER's form is on an upward curve and Tom Lacey's low-mileage 7-y-o is taken to complete a hat-trick now he steps up in trip at the chief expense of course-winner Annsam, who is worth another chance having been ridden too aggressively in front when seventh at Kempton last time. Good Boy Bobby is another to consider off a reduced mark along with C&D scorer Bobhopeornohope.
Class-dropper ANNSAM is selected in the hope he can run this field ragged from the front.

1st (4) (6/1 +40%) Norley |
6/1(+40%) | (4) Norley 6/1, Form patchy but won a conditionals' handicap under this rider at Southwell in December and ran well at Doncaster 9 weeks ago. This is tougher.
2nd (2) (2.25/1 +10%) Hardy Fella |
2.25/1(+10%) | (2) Hardy Fella 2.25/1, Fairly useful bumper winner for Chris Gordon who was back to form after 4 months off when finding only Outlaw Peter (won good Kempton handicap next time) too strong over this trip at Wincanton last month. Can go well on handicap debut.
3rd (3) (4/1 +47%) Thruthelookinglass |
4/1(+47%) | (3) Thruthelookinglass 4/1, Has shown plenty in maiden hurdles, likely to have gone close if completing on return at Worcester then not knocked about at Lingfield. One to note now handicapping after 5 months off.
4th (7) (22/1 -100%) Prince De Juilley |
22/1(-100%) | (7) Prince De Juilley 22/1, Irish point winner who fared a bit better on third run over hurdles here 5 weeks ago. Drops back in trip for handicap debut and could have more to offer.
5th (6) (2.75/1 +39%) Heros |
2.75/1(+39%) | (6) Heros 2.75/1, Bumper/hurdles winner in France in 2021. Has slowly come to hand for new yard off reduced mark, going close in messy Doncaster handicap (only 4 hurdles jumped) recently. One to consider.
6th (8) (6/1 -9%) Regal Renaissance |
6/1(-9%) | (8) Regal Renaissance 6/1, Looks awkward and opened her account with a fortunate success in C&D mares' handicap before Christmas, off bridle long way out and held in second when left in front last. More needed in this company but subsequent breathing operation may have helped. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HARDY FELLA chased home a useful rival, who has won again subsequently, when second at Wincanton a month ago and that form suggests that an opening mark of 114 may underestimate the six-year-old. Regal Renaissance got off the mark over C&D when last seen and could make the frame once again, while Heros and Norley are the pick of the remaining field.
HARDY FELLA found only subsequent Kempton-winner Outlaw Peter too good back from a break at Wincanton last month and looks set for a big run on his handicap debut. This looks a strong race for the grade though and solid cases can also be made for Heros, Thruthelookinglass and Judical Law.
Handicap debutant HARDY FELLA (nap) chased home a subsequent Class 2 handicap winner last month and has scope for further improvement.

1st (6) (10/1 +0%) Scherbobalob |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Scherbobalob 10/1, Modest maiden on Flat but has shown ability over hurdles, best effort when fourth of 15 in C&D novice in February. Yet to be asked for effort when unseated 3 out on Bangor handicap debut since. Unexposed and respected.
2nd (7) (16/1 -14%) Force De Frap |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Force De Frap 16/1, Revitalised when winning in big fields at Taunton and Wincanton around the turn of the year but has been found out from much higher marks twice since.
3rd (8) (6.5/1 -30%) Aristobulus |
6.5/1(-30%) | (8) Aristobulus 6.5/1, Made a succeessful stable debut on AW Flat in January and has shown an aptitude for hurdling since. Possible improver now making his handicap debut in this sphere.
4th (1) (4/1 +67%) Hidor De Bersy |
4/1(+67%) | (1) Hidor De Bersy 4/1, Weak finisher who hasn't gone on from a promising start over fences, albeit his stamina may have been stretched last time. Now reverts to hurdles after a short break.
5th (3) (1.25/1 +50%) Dom Perry |
1.25/1(+50%) | (3) Dom Perry 1.25/1, Bumper winner for Lauran Morgan who made a successful start for this yard in a 2m Southwell maiden hurdle in February. Bettered that form when 11 lengths third in 2m Newbury handicap last month. Should go well.
6th (2) (4.5/1 +25%) Herecomeshogan |
4.5/1(+25%) | (2) Herecomeshogan 4.5/1, Off the mark in this sphere in a Newton Abbot maiden in August and added an 18.5f Exeter handicap in October. Given a break since and much depends on whether he's ready to roll.
7th (5) (28/1 +0%) Thunder Ahead |
28/1(+0%) | (5) Thunder Ahead 28/1, Juvenile hurdle winner last winter but has struggled in 3 handicap hurdle starts since, the refitting of cheekpieces making no difference at Doncaster last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PATIENT DREAM arrives in search of a hat-trick of victories having just held on over C&D in February. The five-year-old is likely to have more to offer and gets the vote to continue his fine run of form, despite a 6lb rise for that latest success. Herecomeshogan benefited from coming back in distance last year, winning two of his last three outings, and he commands plenty of respect on his first start since October. Dom Perry and Scherbobalob are others who could take a step forward on what they have achieved to date.
DOM PERRY made a solid start to his handicap career when third at Newbury last time and can deny Patient Dream a hat-trick. Scherbobalob looked to be going okay when unseating 3 out on his recent Bangor handicap debut and may prove best of the remainder.
The combination of front-running tactics and addition of cheekpieces paid dividends for PATIENT DREAM in February, and he gets the nod.

1st (2) (1.38/1 +31%) Fix At All |
1.38/1(+31%) | (2) Fix At All 1.38/1, Winning hurdler/chaser in France who finally got back on track for his current yard when landing 7-runner hunter chase over C&D (good to soft) 11 days ago. Needs to back it up now.
2nd (6) (3.5/1 +22%) Gaboriot |
3.5/1(+22%) | (6) Gaboriot 3.5/1, Useful hurdler at his best but has failed to complete in his last two hunter chases, blinkered when unseated rider 1st at Warwick (20f, heavy) 4 days ago. Has work to do.
3rd (5) (1.88/1 +16%) Diligent |
1.88/1(+16%) | (5) Diligent 1.88/1, Successful six times in 2021 for Nigel Hawke, five of which over fences and added another couple more over hurdles last spring. Has made a good start for his current yard too, second of 7 in hunter chase at Wincanton (20.2f, good) 33 days ago. Big shout.
4th (1) (22/1 -83%) Bletchley Castle |
22/1(-83%) | (1) Bletchley Castle 22/1, Took this event 12 months ago but off 11 months before being pulled up in hunter chase at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Needs to bounce back.
|PU| (3) (14/1 -250%) Zamparelli |
14/1(-250%) | (3) Zamparelli 14/1, Winner of this contest in 2021 but pulled up in a point when last seen out in February. Not discounted if back on his A-game. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FIX AT ALL had been struggling in handicaps before his hunters' chase debut over C&D, when benefiting from a patient ride as he ran on well in the closing stages. A repeat of that performance would make him tough to oppose today. If the selection happens to underperform, Diligent may pick up the pieces following his second at Wincanton last time. Arthur's Sixpence completes the shortlist.
A few of these come with question marks against them so this looks an excellent opportunity for DILIGENT to build on his recent Wincanton hunter chase second and open his account for his current yard. Former-winner Zamparelli could emerge as the chief threat if back on song, with Fix At All also not discounted if backing up his recent C&D success.
This can go to DILIGENT, who has a very good strike-rate over the last couple of years and posted a good effort when second last month.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
