1st (7) (5/1 -43%) Wodhooh |
5/1(-43%) | (7) Wodhooh 5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making jumps debut. 4/1, fourth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 90 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Sir Michael Stoute and joined excellent NH yard. Ex-Stoute; gets all the allowances here on her hurdles debut and certainly respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3.5/1 +13%) Spinning Web |
3.5/1(+13%) | (2) Spinning Web 3.5/1, Left Flat form well behind when making successful hurdles debut at Tipperary in July. 5/1, second of 8 in juvenile hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good to soft) 16 days ago and that just about sets the standard. Tipperary winner and unlucky at Down Royal; big player here and handles most ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -180%) Hands On |
14/1(-180%) | (3) Hands On 14/1, Flemensfirth gelding. Brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Marshalled, stays 3m. Newcomer for top connections. Unusual to see a juvenile hurdler from this yard; interesting runner but best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (25/1 +50%) Burvea |
25/1(+50%) | (6) Burvea 25/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Unseated rider in juvenile hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good to soft, 33/1) on NH debut 16 days ago. Running okay when unseating at the last at Down Royal; could be on an upward curve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (80/1 -21%) Ifitwasme |
80/1(-21%) | (4) Ifitwasme 80/1, Hooded for first time, 35¾ lengths seventh of 13 to Nurburgring in juvenile hurdle (100/1) at Killarney (17f, soft) on NH debut 23 days ago. Not disgraced on his hurdles debut behind Nurburgring at Killarney but much more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (1) (0.53/1 +36%) Nurburgring |
0.53/1(+36%) | (1) Nurburgring 0.53/1, Promising sort. Useful winner at 13f on Flat. Tongue strap on, won 13-runner juvenile hurdle (7/4) at Killarney (17f, soft) on NH debut 23 days ago. Likely to improve, particularly as his jumping improves. Has to give away plenty of weight to most of these but looks certain to improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NURBURGRING travelled to Royal Ascot in June with a Flat rating of 96 and while no longer value for that mark, won on his recent hurdles debut. The Killarney runner-up had previously finished narrowly behind today's rival Spinning Web at Tipperary in July, but the selection should improve considerably jumping-wise from Killarney and, importantly, relishes soft ground. Spinning Web is rated just 48 on the flat but is progressive. He too has form on soft and ran well in a recent winners' hurdle but might struggle to beat the selection. Hands On is Enda Bolger's second ever three-year-old-hurdle runner and while likely to improve from this run, is by a top jumps stallion and is out of a Galileo-mare who has produced a six-time winner. Ex-Michael Stoute's Wodhooh, a 50,000gns July purchase, has form on the all-weather but was well held on her only soft-ground run and has a tough task on jumps debut.
NURBURGRING was pretty talented on the Flat and he overcame a few awkward jumps when making a winning start over hurdles at Killarney 3 weeks ago. With improvement likely, he's preferred to Spinning Web.
There should be plenty of improvement to come from NURBURGRING after winning at Killarney in spite of his jumping

1st (2) (8/1 -60%) Popova |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Popova 8/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 10/3, below form fifth of 10 in minor event hurdle at Bellewstown (17.2f, good) 18 days ago. Well beaten at Bellewstown latest; rated to go close and respected but has to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (0.3/1 +76%) Space Tourist |
0.3/1(+76%) | (4) Space Tourist 0.3/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 2 wins from 3 runs this season. 24½ lengths eighth of 9 to Arctic Fly in listed hurdle (11/2) at Galway (16.6f, good to soft) 47 days ago. Up in trip. Can bounce back. Jumped poorly at Galway; should be much better suited going left-handed; major contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 +20%) Miss Fourie |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Miss Fourie 4/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Bellewstown in July. Ninth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (17f, soft, 10/1) 23 days ago. Ran no race in a Listed handicap at Killarney last time; more needed here but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (40/1 -100%) Light Parade |
40/1(-100%) | (1) Light Parade 40/1, Modest hurdler. Creditable third of 16 in handicap hurdle (4/1) at Ballinrobe (16.6f, good) 34 days ago. Back up in trip. Plenty to find at the weights here but likely to run her race and could sneak into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (50/1 -100%) C'est Rien |
50/1(-100%) | (6) C'est Rien 50/1, 10/1, sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Ballinrobe (17.7f, good to soft) 2 days ago. Others more persuasive. Well beaten in four hurdle outings since May and hard to make a case for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Softening ground won't suit the principal runners but SPACE TOURIST ran well on yielding in March 2022 and notably reverts left-handed. All her recent runs have been at right-handed tracks, when jumping markedly left, and while a 41 length-winner at Kilbeggan, blundered at the second-last at Galway last month and should be seen in a better light going left-handed. She stays this distance but heavy ground mightn't suit. Say Goodbye, runner-up in the 2021 renewal, is probably the most talented mare in the race but returns from 478 days off and would prefer a sound surface. In-form Light Parade is rated just 94 but is suited by this distance and soft ground and has place claims while 118-rated Popova has winning form on yielding but was well held on her return from a mini-break at Bellewstown.
SPACE TOURIST lost her unbeaten record over hurdles at Galway but she was let down by her jumping upped in grade and this looks a good opportunity for her to resume winning ways. Say Goodbye looks the main threat but she does have an absence to overcome.
Despite a 16 month absence, a chance is taken that SAY GOODBYE will be forward enough to score, back over hurdles after two chase wins

1st (21) (2.75/1 +75%) Costanuci |
2.75/1(+75%) | (21) Costanuci 2.75/1, Winner in hurdle at Tramore in June. 7/2, creditable third of 12 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16f, heavy) 30 days ago. Back up in trip. Reserve 3. Third reserve, Tramore winner on good ground three starts back, holding her form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/1 -38%) Sea Aster |
9/1(-38%) | (6) Sea Aster 9/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. 2/1, career best when winning 14-runner novice hurdle at Tramore (21f, heavy) 30 days ago, always holding on. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Open to further improvement after maiden win at Tramore, could feature on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 +0%) Fizzle Rock |
14/1(+0%) | (3) Fizzle Rock 14/1, 11/1, career best when winning 7-runner novice hurdle at Sligo (20.4f, good to soft) 38 days ago, kept up to work. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Off for almost two years until May, modest form until a Sligo maiden win last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 +52%) Stormalong |
16/1(+52%) | (9) Stormalong 16/1, Very good second of 13 in novice hurdle (12/1) at Sligo (17.4f, good to soft) 25 days ago, closing all way to line. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Placed on her two most recent maiden hurdle outing, solid display at Sligo last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4.5/1 +0%) Good As Hell |
4.5/1(+0%) | (5) Good As Hell 4.5/1, 3 wins from 7 runs this season. 8/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap chase at Killarney (17f, soft) 23 days ago, all out. Switches from chase to hurdles. Shortlist material. Better known as a four-time chase winner, 25lb lower mark over hurdles, obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 +20%) Glendars Mahler |
20/1(+20%) | (8) Glendars Mahler 20/1, Winner in hurdle at Sligo in August. 7/1, eighth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (21.7f, good) 20 days ago. Sligo maiden winner over 2m2f, hard to fancy after a poor run in a handicap at Downpatrick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (10/1 +55%) No Fussing |
10/1(+55%) | (13) No Fussing 10/1, Winner in hurdle at Thurles in March. Bit below form fourth of 8 in novice hurdle at Tramore (20.5f, good, 17/2) 31 days ago. Unplaced in a novice event last time, fourth behind Rathnaleen Kal in a handicap at Cork. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (7/1 +7%) Rathnaleen Kal |
7/1(+7%) | (4) Rathnaleen Kal 7/1, 2 wins from 5 runs this season. Career best when winning 18-runner handicap hurdle at Cork (18.7f, good to soft, 10/1) 41 days ago, staying on to lead near finish. Another holding possibilities stepping back up in trip. Consistent in recent months apart from a disappointing Cork run, made amends on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (7.5/1 +25%) Call Her Now |
7.5/1(+25%) | (7) Call Her Now 7.5/1, Proved a different proposition returning from 12 months off to land 2m mares' maiden here in June. Not in same form on handicap debut at Tipperary (2m) a month later but not one to be writing off now stepping back up in trip. Faded quite tamely after making the running to two out on her handicap debut at Tipperary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (10/1 -25%) Buttons And Bows |
10/1(-25%) | (16) Buttons And Bows 10/1, Ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good to soft, 11/2) 23 days ago, shaping as if needing the run on the back of 9 weeks off. Expected to be much closer to form now. Four wins have been on decent ground, further rain could detract from her prospects. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 +33%) The Moon Sea's Me |
12/1(+33%) | (1) The Moon Sea's Me 12/1, Thrice-raced winner over hurdles. 10/3, fifth of 6 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (19.3f, good to soft) in November. Makes handicap debut on the back of 9 months off and market best guide with yard also saddling Sea Aster. Point/maiden hurdle winner, well beaten on last two races in 2022, probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ATIMETODREAM ran well on handicap debut in May and reappears following a mid-summer break. She bumped into Grade 1 winner Irish Point last November, is suited by soft and being an unexposed, well-bred five-year-old, should progress. Rathnaleen Kal was third in that Limerick race and subsequently boosted the form but meets the selection 6lb worse off. Debut bumper winner Stormalong ran well when failing to concede 8lb to the winner at Sligo last month and debuts in handicaps. She likes soft and should compete from 105. Progressive Good As Hell reverts to hurdles rated 25lb lower and won from a career-high rating on soft ground at Killarney. However she was beaten from 1lb lower on her last hurdles outing in May. Sea Aster steps up from winning a Tramore unplaced horses' maiden while keen-going course winner Call Her Now disappointed at Tipperary. No Fussing's yard is flying and she has soft ground form while Phils Choice is a 12-race maiden but has form. All Walks Of Life, which runs in a first-time hood, was pulled up with a slipped saddle in May.
Plenty in with a chance but GOOD AS HELL has been an improved model over fences this summer so, from her very attractive hurdles mark, she could be the answer with the distinct possibility of more to come in this sphere. Atimetodream, Sea Aster and Emily In Paris head up the dangers.
Twice successful over fences since third in a handicap hurdle at Wexford in May, GOOD AS HELL may take advantage of this mark

25/1(-56%) | (5) Ollie La Ba Ba 25/1, Tongue strap on, fifth of 11 in novice hurdle at Bellewstown (20.4f, good, 22/1) on NH debut 18 days ago. Not ruled out if building on that initial effort. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (4.5/1 +0%) Misty's Gift |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SILVER GAZETTE returned to form following a layoff, last month. Runner-up to subsequent Grade 2-winner Favori De Champdou in November 2022, he bumped into a capable winner on debut for Andy Slattery at Tramore, while the third-placed horse won next-time. He is suited by soft ground, this distance and his rider claims 5lb. Workforadime finished 12.5 lengths behind today's rival Misty's Gift in May and while Workforadime caught the eye at Wexford recently, might still struggle to beat the selection. Misty's Gift didn't take to fences at Ballinrobe last month and while a dual bumper winner, has failed in 13 previous maiden hurdles. Atacanter ran well at Leopardstown last March, stays well and has place claims on return. Signora De Milano reverts back up in distance while True Or False has some point-to-point/hunter chase form.
MISTY'S GIFT made an inauspicious start over fences when pulled up at Ballinrobe but is fancied to bounce back in style now quickly returned to this sphere and gain a deserved first success. Silver Gazette made an encouraging start for his new yard when runner-up at Tramore and is next on the list ahead of the lightly-raced pair Ollie La Ba Ba and Signora Di Milano.
Preference is for SILVER GAZETTE(nap who ran a cracker at Tramore on stable debut and should come on for that with trip not an issue

1st (4) (5/1 -25%) Uncle Phil |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Uncle Phil 5/1, Fairly useful chaser. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Latest win in chase at Kilbeggan in June. Last of 6 in novice chase at Wexford (19.6f, soft, 7/2) 16 days ago, finding nothing. Won at Kilbeggan with plenty to spare, something evidently amiss at Wexford last time. |

2.25/1(+36%) | (1) Gracchus De Balme 2.25/1, Useful hurdler. 1 win from 1 run this season. Useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Evens, career best when winning 7-runner novice chase at Roscommon (16.4f, soft) 40 days ago. Open to progress. Fell on first two chase attempts, put in a good round when scoring at Roscommon. |

2.75/1(+21%) | (5) Great Bear 2.75/1, Promising type. Useful winner at 17f over hurdles. Second of 8 in novice chase at Killarney (17f, good to soft, 2/1) on debut over fences 22 days ago. Open to improvement. No match for 137-rated hurdler Captain Conby on chase debut at Killarney. should go well. |

4th (2) (2.75/1 -38%) Riaan |
2.75/1(-38%) | (2) Riaan 2.75/1, Useful chaser. 1 win from 1 run this season. Career best when winning 11-runner novice chase at Wexford (19.8f, heavy, 6/1) on debut over fences 37 days ago. Should improve. Won well on chasing debut, all three wins have been over 2m4f so trip could be an issue. |

Has begun to mature into an effective handicap chaser, more exposed than the other four. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A case can be made for all five participants. RIAAN impressed on his debut over fences at Wexford and might be able to follow-up now. While that Bettyville contest probably wasn't a strong affair, the Diamond Boy six-year-old couldn't have done much more, with his rider Jack Kennedy later saying: "He jumped brilliant and I couldn't have asked for better of him really. He is going to come on for it fitness wise and I'm delighted with him." While not the most consistent, Uncle Phil is given second preference. He impressively dismissed Winter Fog on his penultimate start and a reproduction of that performance would see him hard to beat. Gracchus De Balme is sure to have plenty of supporters after winning at Roscommon last month, while The Dasher Conway and Great Bear complete the line-up, with both warranting respect.
GREAT BEAR looked a natural when runner-up on his chase bow at Killarney and can go one better in receipt of weight. Riaan made an impressive winning start over fences at Wexford and is the obvious threat in a race in which none of the 5 can be ruled out.
Only five runners but none of them could be ruled out. Having jumped reassuringly well at Roscommon GRACCHUS DE BALME may follow up

1st (3) (1.88/1 +46%) Visionarian |
1.88/1(+46%) | (3) Visionarian 1.88/1, Smart chaser. Five wins from 18 NH runs. Didn't need to improve to win 4-runner minor event chase at Ballinrobe (17f, good to soft, 10/11) 20 days ago, readily. Looks in top form at present. Fifth in Galway Plate before Ballinrobe win, would get 9lb from Saint Sam in a handicap. |

|F| (2) (0.4/1 +40%) Saint Sam |
0.4/1(+40%) | (2) Saint Sam 0.4/1, Very smart chaser. 4/7, career best when winning 5-runner minor event chase at Galway (22.5f, soft) 42 days ago, travelling strongly. Thriving and likely to go in again. Bidding for a four-timer, rider's choice over Easy Game who won this race in 2021 and 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
An interesting contest, with EASY GAME marginally preferred over Saint Sam and Visionarian. The selection has an excellent record at Listowel and is bidding to win this race for the third year in-a-row. A superb servant to connections, it's difficult to oppose the 17-time winner, despite the fact that Paul Townend has. To be fair, the champion jockey had a difficult task choosing between the Willie Mullins-trained pair, with just 1lb between them on ratings. While flawless in three starts over the summer months, Saint Sam faces a tougher assignment now. A solid fifth in the Galway Plate, Visionarian since impressed at Ballinrobe and getting weight from the aforementioned duo, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to take this. Dancing On My Own completes the line-up and while a smart performer, he was beaten by Easy Game when they clashed here in June.
Willie Mullins has a strong grip on this event and SAINT SAM is an obvious choice to complete a four-timer at the likely expense of his stablemate Easy Game, who should be able to put a blip at the Galway Festival behind him. Visionarian is also a player.
This can go to the exuberant SAINT SAM who galloped his rivals into the ground at Killarney and more especially over 2m6f at Galway

40/1(+39%) | (9) Cailin Deas 40/1, Pour Moi mare. Half-sister to fair hurdler Glendars Mahler. Dam, ran once over hurdles, 1m-1½m winner on Flat. Not an obvious sort on paper. Half-sister to the yard's 2m2f maiden hurdle winner Glendars Mahler, decent pedigree. |

6th (6) (4/1 +50%) Never Present |
4/1(+50%) | (6) Never Present 4/1, €15,000 3-y-o, £30,000 5-y-o, Mahler gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser Scotchtown, stays 3¼m. Dam (c105/h77) 25f chase winner. Every chance when fell heavily 2 out sole start in points (May 7). Worth monitoring in the betting. Favourite at Grennan on only point-to-point start, held a slight lead when falling two out. |

7th (8) (40/1 -82%) Watergrangedreamer |
40/1(-82%) | (8) Watergrangedreamer 40/1, Remains a maiden after 11 bumper runs. 80/1, fourth of 6 in bumper at Killarney (16.4f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Needs to find plenty of improvement. Unplaced in 11 bumper starts including twice at last year's festival, same here in June. |

8th (10) (16/1 +76%) Phildante |
16/1(+76%) | (10) Phildante 16/1, Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 10 in bumper at Sligo (18.2f, good to soft, 28/1) on NH debut 38 days ago. More required. Raced too keenly first time out at Sligo, should do better if settling effectively. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NEVER PRESENT gets the nod over Glowing Account. The John McConnell-trained selection was still in front when coming down two out on debut at Grennan in May. Since sold to current connections for 30,000 pounds, he should give a good account of himself here with Alex Harvey aboard. At the age of six, Glowing Account belatedly makes his debut and won't have to be a star to take this contest which lacks strength and depth. Typhoon Flyer is a half-brother to 2021 King George winner Tornado Flyer. Still very much in contention when falling two out on his penultimate start at Ballinaboola, it'll be interesting to see how he fares on his racecourse debut. A runner-up at Roscommon over a year ago, Locorotondo warrants respect with Derek O'Connor aboard, while Answering and Huntsgrove are others for the shortlist.
GLOWING ACCOUNT has the speed to be well equipped for this sort of test and his top yard should have him well readied for his debut, so he take preference over Never Present, who showed ability prior to falling in a point. Locorotondo is the pick of the others but he has a long absence to overcome.
The opposition to the Willie Mullins-trained newcomer GLOWING ACCOUNT looks far from intimidating.
Ths is the racecard key.
