12/1(+14%) | (10) Intoxicata 12/1, Seventh of 10 in novice event at Catterick (7f, heavy, 80/1) 55 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Poor form in three novice runs but bred to be smart and could take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1.5/1 +50%) Harry The Haggler |
1.5/1(+50%) | (1) Harry The Haggler 1.5/1, Excellent second on handicap debut over C&D in March. Below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, heavy, 7/2) 43 days ago. Shortlist material back on the AW. Form of his C&D 2nd in March has been well franked by the winner; excuse latest; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (22/1 -100%) Poppaea |
22/1(-100%) | (8) Poppaea 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 8 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 150/1) 35 days ago. Makes handicap debut for successful yard and is surely capable of better. Likely improver now up in trip and dropped into a low-grade handicap; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (22/1 -144%) Daisy Roots |
22/1(-144%) | (3) Daisy Roots 22/1, Seventh of 11 in handicap (66/1) at Redcar (8f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Needs to build on that reappearance. Well-beaten 66-1 shot on last month's handicap debut; not easily recommended. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (2.75/1 +54%) Billaki Mou |
2.75/1(+54%) | (4) Billaki Mou 2.75/1, Blinkered for first time, good eighth of 13 in handicap (33/1) at Bath (8f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Not taken lightly with return to 7f not expected to be an issue. Not beaten far at Bath last time despite meeting trouble; return to 7f can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (4/1 +20%) Regal Glory |
4/1(+20%) | (7) Regal Glory 4/1, C&D winner. Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at this course (6f, AW, 15/2) 5 days ago, nearest finish. Back on that successful mark. C&D winner off this mark at two; promising 6f run last week; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (28/1 -133%) River Naver |
28/1(-133%) | (2) River Naver 28/1, 25/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Needs to cast that run firmly aside. Not progressing in handicaps; down in grade but with something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (18/1 -200%) Sundowner |
18/1(-200%) | (5) Sundowner 18/1, Seventh of 8 in novice event (100/1) at Salisbury (7f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Cheekpieces on for first time and handicaps more suitable. Modest form in three runs thus far but headgear on for her handicap debut; more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (33/1 -83%) Sao Timothy |
33/1(-83%) | (6) Sao Timothy 33/1, 300/1, last of 5 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f). Off 176 days. Makes handicap debut. Well held in three 2yo runs; this should be more suitable and worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (80/1 -142%) Arlecchino's Star |
80/1(-142%) | (11) Arlecchino's Star 80/1, Eleventh of 13 in handicap at Bath (8f, good to firm, 100/1) 20 days ago, very slowly away. Unplaced in all ten starts and little to recommend her, even at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (18/1 -50%) Ricardo Ofworthing |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Ricardo Ofworthing 18/1, Seventh of 12 in handicap (9/1) at this course (6f, AW) 5 days ago, never nearer. Low-grade maiden but last week's midfield finish over 6f wasn't without hope; 7f can help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A return to an artificial surface looks set to suit HARRY THE HAGGLER, who struggled over a mile at Windsor on his most recent run in April. He was second over C&D on his penultimate run and Stuart Williams' inmate must be of interest. Intoxicata remains unexposed and switches to Polytrack for her handicap debut, so any market support should not be ignored, along with Poppaea stepping up in trip.
HARRY THE HAGGLER seemed to get bogged down on heavy ground at Windsor last time and his runner-up effort over C&D prior to that reads very well in the context of this. He can get back on track in a race where few make appeal, albeit Regal Glory is back on her winning mark and Poppaea is a handicap debutante for a good yard.
There are potential improvers galore but HARRY THE HAGGLER can get off the mark at the sixth attempt.

0.62/1(+62%) | (6) Packard 0.62/1, Promising sort. Second of 11 in novice event (7/2) at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) on debut 11 days ago. That's just about the best form on offer and he's open to progress. Clear of the 3rd when chasing home an impressive winner at Goodwood last month; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

5/1(+0%) | (9) Two Tribes 5/1, Promising individual. Second of 6 in maiden (15/2) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) on debut 12 days ago. Likely to improve. Promising 2nd when green off the bridle 12 days ago; more to come but probably needs it. |

10/1(-54%) | (8) Starlust 10/1, Foaled April 20. 55,000 gns yearling, Zoustar colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 5f winner Queen of Desire and 6f winner Jackmeister Rudi. 100/1(-300%) | (3) Dark Before Dawn 100/1, Failed to come on for debut when fifth of 6 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 12 days ago. Modest form in two sprint maidens last month; nurseries should be more suitable in time. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (33/1 +0%) Eagle Landed |
33/1(+0%) | (4) Eagle Landed 33/1, Foaled April 16. 26,000 gns yearling, Charm Spirit gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 8.5f-12.5f winner Byford and 1m winner Torque Power. Dam winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner). 26,000gns half-brother to six winners; dam a Listed winner; worth a market check. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PACKARD kept on well for second over this trip at Goodwood on his debut last month and the son of Mehmas left a strong impression that he could build on that here. Starlust is well related and should not be underestimated on his racecourse bow, while Point Of Attack and Give It Up are other newcomers who merit places on the shortlist.
POINT OF ATTACK certainly looks up to the job on paper being a six-figure yearling and a half-sister to 3 winners, so a winning debut would come as no surprise. Packard and Two Tribes are also of firm interest on the back of runner-up efforts.
Some interesting newcomers on show, especially Starlust, but PACKARD can confirm the promise of his Goodwood debut.

1st (1) (6.5/1 +7%) Alpine Girl |
6.5/1(+7%) | (1) Alpine Girl 6.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden who got back on track after 7 months off when third of 8 in handicap at Windsor (6f, heavy) 29 days ago, not clear run over 1f out. Needs improvement for the drop to 5f but it's quite possible; down in class; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +0%) Imperiousity |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Imperiousity 4/1, C&D winner in May and shaped as if still in good form back here last week. Player. C&D winner last month; fluffed the start when 5th behind two of these here last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (1/1 +50%) Victors Dream |
1/1(+50%) | (2) Victors Dream 1/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was gambled on and progressed again when second in 8-runner C&D handicap last week. Can go one better. Runner-up in both handicaps and looks ahead of his mark; leading claims with more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (4.5/1 +10%) Missing You |
4.5/1(+10%) | (4) Missing You 4.5/1, 11/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 5 days ago, never nearer. Can give another good account. Fair third here last week but work to do with Victors Dream on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (22/1 -144%) Morboka |
22/1(-144%) | (5) Morboka 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, fifth of 9 in minor event at Pontefract (5f, good) 11 days ago, not knocked about. Potential improver now switched to handicaps. Looks a likely improver now switched to handicaps but might prefer more of a test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (10/1 +38%) Alainn Tu |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Alainn Tu 10/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in May but was well below form back on turf at Bath (5.7f, firm, 11/2) 11 days ago. Needs to bounce back. 6f Tapeta winner last month before a close 3rd over C&D; below par at Bath 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (66/1 -164%) Star Adorned |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Star Adorned 66/1, 16/1, failed to come on for recent run when 4 lengths last of 6 to Imperiousity in handicap at this C&D (AW) 28 days ago. Others more persuasive. She isn't progressing and finished last of six over C&D four weeks ago; others safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (66/1 -267%) Diamond Hands |
66/1(-267%) | (7) Diamond Hands 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, seventh of 10 in maiden at Southwell (6.1f) 26 days ago. May do better now handicapping. Should have more to offer in sprint handicaps but the widest stall isn't ideal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Only narrowly denied over C&D last Thursday, it is hard to oppose the progressive VICTORS DREAM off the same mark and Marco Botti's inmate is fancied to break his maiden at the sixth time of asking. Alainn Tu struggled over an extended 5f at Bath last month but is feared 3lb above her last winning mark, along with the unexposed Morboka on her handicap bow.
VICTORS DREAM is going the right way and lost out only on the nod over C&D last time, so he's selected to make it third time lucky in handicap company. Morboka and Imperiousity head the dangers.
Morboka is interesting now handicapping but VICTORS DREAM looked ahead of his mark when second over C&D last week.

1st (4) (10/1 -33%) Lulworth Cove |
10/1(-33%) | (4) Lulworth Cove 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. Good second of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good, 14/1) 12 days ago. Makes polytrack debut and she shouldn't be far away if taking to this surface. Chased home a thriving rival on her reappearance/handicap debut 12 days ago; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3.2/1 +47%) Kessaar Power |
3.2/1(+47%) | (3) Kessaar Power 3.2/1, Two wins from 3 runs this year, the latest at Yarmouth in April. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Chester (6.1f, heavy, 9/1) 27 days ago. Likely to find one or two too strong here. Won his first 2 starts for this yard but came up short from a wide draw at Chester latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (14/1 +13%) Hiatus |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Hiatus 14/1, Latest win at Windsor in May. Bit below form sixth of 13 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good, 5/1) 19 days ago. Should make his presence felt. Two wins this year but others have greater potential in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +40%) Sergeant Pep |
12/1(+40%) | (5) Sergeant Pep 12/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in December. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good, 15/2) 12 days ago. Needs to get back on track but will be a player if able to do so. Handicapper in command this year and others look to have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6/1 -33%) She's Centimental |
6/1(-33%) | (1) She's Centimental 6/1, Lightly-raced winner. 15/2, fourteenth of 18 in handicap at York (5f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Makes polytrack debut (form figures on tapeta read 2111) and she may well bounce back with a bold show. Progressive on AW; below par on turf debut latest; this is easier & she's got more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (0.83/1 -4%) Dark Kestrel |
0.83/1(-4%) | (2) Dark Kestrel 0.83/1, Promising type. 10/3, won 11-runner minor event at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Well-bred and in good hands, further progress can be expected now that he goes down the handicap route. Well backed and won easily on his 3yo debut (after gelding/wind ops); opening mark fair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (100/1 -300%) Pembrokeshire |
100/1(-300%) | (6) Pembrokeshire 100/1, Lightly-raced winner. Well-beaten last of 5 to Kessaar Power in handicap (16/1) at Yarmouth (6f, soft) 42 days ago. Now tried in a hood. Not progressed from debut win and the addition of a hood isn't enough to tempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DARK KESTREL returned to action with a bang at Doncaster last time, following gelding and wind operations. A mark of 80 could easily underestimate his potential ability and he could be one to follow through the handicap ranks. Lulworth Cove has to be respected on the back of her runner-up effort at Haydock and she could be dangerous off the same mark, while She's Centimental may be a player if bouncing back.
DARK KESTREL left his 2-y-o efforts well behind when making a winning reappearance in a Doncaster novice and, with the promise of better to come now handicapping, he will prove hard to beat if proving equally effective on polytrack. The main threat may be posed by Lulworth Cove, who progressed with each of her 3 starts as a juvenile and did so again when chasing home the in-form Radio Goo Goo on return at Haydock. She's Centimental and Sergeant Pep are others to consider.
Dark Kestrel has plenty of potential now handicapping but SHE'S CENTIMENTAL (nap) can bounce back to form returned to AW.

Pepper Streak |
(5) (18/1 -13%)18/1(-13%) | (5) Pepper Streak 18/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 16/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (5f), finding little. Off 134 days. First run for yard after leaving Adrian Nicholls and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Infrequent winner but she starts out for new yard off a handy mark; 134-day break to defy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (1.62/1 +19%) Grandfather Tom |
1.62/1(+19%) | (4) Grandfather Tom 1.62/1, Three-time C&D winner. 2 wins from 4 runs this year. 17/2, didn't need to improve to win 9-runner handicap at Nottingham (5f, good to firm) 2 days ago. Will be a danger to all if turned out again quickly. Easy winner over C&D last month; game effort on turf on Sunday; claims despite penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5.5/1 -10%) Libertus |
5.5/1(-10%) | (2) Libertus 5.5/1, 25/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Ascot (6f, soft) 24 days ago. Drop to the minimum trip shouldn't be an issue and he's worth a second look back on the AW. 6f winner (Tapeta) last year; not progressed since; down in trip/grade; not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -50%) Mary Of Modena |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Mary Of Modena 6/1, 10/1, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Windsor (5.1f, heavy) 29 days ago. 4 lb rise fair and she performed well over 6f here in March, so there are reasons to be optimistic. All wins on turf but has run well here (6f); 4lb rise for latest win fair; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2.25/1 +36%) Mick's Spirit |
2.25/1(+36%) | (1) Mick's Spirit 2.25/1, Four-time C&D winner, the latest in January. 5/1, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap here 67 days ago. Looks vulnerable under top-weight. All 4 wins have come over C&D; on good mark if revived by a 67-day break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (33/1 -32%) Hey Ho Let's Go |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Hey Ho Let's Go 33/1, Three-time C&D winner. 18/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Brighton (5.3f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Bit to prove at present. Not fired so far this year; good mark now but need to see more before getting involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 -20%) Sparked |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Sparked 12/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 9 in handicap (13/2) at this C&D (AW) 41 days ago, not clear run. Shouldn't be too far away, granted better luck this time. C&D winner; good run here in April but less good 8 days later; up in class. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Mary Of Modena made all to strike by just under a length last time at Windsor and she has been put up 4lb for that display, which may not be enough to prevent her from going well once again. However, a chance can be taken on SPARKED, who was caught wide last time over C&D. If she can bring the form of her penultimate run to the table, the four-year-old could be the one to beat, while Mick's Spirit completes the shortlist.
Last-time-out winners GRANDFATHER TOM and Mary of Modena both make plenty of appeal. The former got on top close home at Nottingham on Sunday and may well notch a fourth C&D victory if allowed to take his chance. Mary of Modena has yet to strike on the all-weather but she's clearly effective on this surface having finished a good third over 6f here on return in March. Best of the rest is Libertus, who hasn't fully fired in 2 starts so far this season but he's edging back down the weights.
Mary Of Modena is greatly respected but a short break could revive the fortunes of MICK'S SPIRIT and he is preferred.

22/1(-57%) | (8) Kanuhura 22/1, Creditable fifth of 8 in handicap (11/1) at this C&D (AW) 28 days ago. Unreliable individual, though. Not disgraced in recent C&D handicap but others have more appealing profiles. |

GREEK GIANT has raised his game when switched to handicaps in April. Dropped into a classified contest for the first time here, he's favoured on these terms and is taken to strike for the in-form Ed Dunlop team. Asense remains open to improvement and is interesting with talented apprentice Harry Davies aboard, while Alioski, whose latest success came at Southwell in November, should not be underestimated on his seasonal return.
GREEK GIANT still has relatively few miles on the clock and is favoured by these weights so can build on his recent Bath second and get off the mark. Asense made an encouraging return when sixth at Brighton and is next on the list ahead of the returning Alioski and handily-weighted Rushmore.
The most appealing option is GREEK GIANT who moves up in trip after a good effort in defeat last month and still has low mileage.

GLENISTER showed the benefit of recent wind surgery when making all to win over 1m2f here three days ago. The gelded son of Gleneagles should continue to progress and, with similar tactics likely to be employed from stall one, he can shrug off a 5lb penalty. Lunar Shadow, who was narrowly denied at Chelmsford last month, appeals as his most likely danger, while Beautiful Crown completes the shortlist.
A few with chances but it's hard to side against Sir Mark Prescott's GLENISTER who resumed much improved on the back of breathing surgery when going in here only 3 days ago and can make light of a 5 lb penalty stepping back up in distance. In-form C&D winner Lunar Shadow looks the chief threat with course-scorers Waterloo Sunset and Socially Shady completing the shortlist.
Lunar Shadow looks good for another solid run but GLENISTER can defy a penalty for his Saturday win here now back at 1m4f.
Ths is the racecard key.
