1st (12) (4.5/1 +36%) Yuzu |
4.5/1(+36%) | (12) Yuzu 4.5/1, 11/2, below form seventh of 14 in handicap at Gowran (8.3f, heavy) 5 days ago. Touched off in Bellewstown handicap on heavy two starts back; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (8/1 -14%) Nituna |
8/1(-14%) | (9) Nituna 8/1, 16/1, good second of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, soft) 10 days ago. Player. Recent Curragh second a career-best; handles conditions and could have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (14/1 +30%) Pimstrel |
14/1(+30%) | (14) Pimstrel 14/1, 5/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at Galway (7.1f, good to soft) 40 days ago, slowly away. 2lb wrong here but can't rule out with rider's claim and favoured ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 +25%) Rock Etoile |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Rock Etoile 12/1, 9/1, fourteenth of 15 in handicap at Listowel (8f, soft) 31 days ago, folding. Others more persuasive. Testing conditions seem to find him out at Listowel so could struggle here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 +44%) Mogwli |
9/1(+44%) | (3) Mogwli 9/1, Latest win at Bellewstown in September. Fourth of 7 in handicap at Gowran (7f, heavy, 5/1) 6 days ago. Needs to break better than at Gowran, should go well if he does. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (8/1 -33%) Arch Enemy |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Arch Enemy 8/1, Latest win at Listowel in June. 10/1, bit below form third of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft) 15 days ago. Enters calculations. Run well in defeat since Listowel win but has a bit to find with Mogwli on Curragh run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (10/1 +0%) Beauty Bella |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Beauty Bella 10/1, Below form sixth of 15 in maiden (11/4) at Naas (7f, soft) 8 days ago. Blinkers back on. Makes handicap debut. Handicap debutante has a fairly solid record in maidens but still others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 -11%) Hokusai |
10/1(-11%) | (7) Hokusai 10/1, 33/1, below form ninth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft) 15 days ago. Well held at the Curragh latest with a couple of today's rivals ahead of him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (9/1 +25%) Dragon Of Malta |
9/1(+25%) | (1) Dragon Of Malta 9/1, Latest win at Listowel in September. 10/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, heavy) 22 days ago. Disappointing at Killarney but ground to suit and rider's 10lb claim brings him into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (8/1 +33%) Half Nutz |
8/1(+33%) | (2) Half Nutz 8/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Fifteenth of 19 in handicap (9/1) at the Curragh (6f, soft) 15 days ago. Slow-starter never one to rule out but hard to have confidence in all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (5/1 -43%) Coolree |
5/1(-43%) | (4) Coolree 5/1, Winner at Killarney in July. Respectable third of 15 in handicap at Listowel (8f, soft, 11/1) 31 days ago. Has good chance on form. Listowel third looks strong form; 2lb higher but definite chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (40/1 -60%) Wild Mountain |
40/1(-60%) | (10) Wild Mountain 40/1, 80/1, fourth of 11 in handicap at Down Royal (7f, soft) 27 days ago. Recent Down Royal run a small step in the right direction; handicapper giving him a chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
COOLREE ran into a couple of in-form rivals when third at Listowel last month and may be able to strike again here. The Mondialiste gelding bumped into Drop The Dip and Wrist Art last time and both have gone on to frank the form. Coolree is only a couple of pounds higher here. Mogwli has been running consistently and handles testing conditions. He should be thereabouts again. Arch Enemy is another who has been knocking on the door and has to come into calculations.
COOLREE was surrounded by subsequent winners at Listowel last month so can quickly resume winning ways. Nituna continues to shape well and is next best ahead of Arch Enemy.
Quite a competitive handicap in which COOLREE gets the vote, now dropped in trip after a good Listowel run in similar conditions

1st (6) (8/1 +20%) Mutasarref |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Mutasarref 8/1, Useful gelding. 9/1, creditable eighth of 17 in handicap at this course (7.3f, good to firm) 43 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Best form good ground so definite ground concerns and recent form doesn't look good enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2.5/1 +62%) Honey Girl |
2.5/1(+62%) | (5) Honey Girl 2.5/1, Useful filly. Latest win at the Curragh in May. 5/2, bit below form 4¼ lengths third of 15 to Curvature in listed race at Naas (8f, heavy) 7 days ago, nearest finish. Can make presence felt. Left with too much to do at Naas last weekend but definite claims on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1.75/1 -92%) Cairo |
1.75/1(-92%) | (3) Cairo 1.75/1, Smart colt. Course winner. Very good 2 lengths second of 11 to Paddington in Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh (8f, good, 14/1), running on late. Off 148 days. Stable in good form. Big player. Absent since Irish Guineas second in May; the one to beat on that form if handling ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5.5/1 +35%) Snapraeterea |
5.5/1(+35%) | (2) Snapraeterea 5.5/1, Useful gelding. Didn't need to improve to win 10-runner Concorde Stakes (9/2) at Tipperary (7.4f, heavy) 21 days ago by ¾ length from Bells On Her Toes. Not taken lightly. Tipperary winner clearly in good heart, handles the ground and has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (14/1 +72%) Flame Of Eire |
14/1(+72%) | (8) Flame Of Eire 14/1, Useful filly. 22/1, respectable 6 lengths sixth of 15 to Curvature in listed race at Naas (8f, heavy) 7 days ago. Not near her best this season when invariably chasing black type; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (16/1 -14%) Bells On Her Toes |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Bells On Her Toes 16/1, Useful filly. Below form 7¼ lengths sixth of 14 to Aussie Girl in listed race at the Curragh (6f, soft, 6/1) 15 days ago, not ideally placed. Significantly back up in trip. Inadequate trip on latest but earlier Tipperary second to Snapraeterea puts her in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 +68%) Fast Tara |
16/1(+68%) | (9) Fast Tara 16/1, Useful filly. 28/1, bit below form 5¾ lengths fifth of 15 to Curvature in listed race at Naas (8f, heavy) 7 days ago. Heavy ground maiden winner but seemingly exposed at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (14/1 +65%) Frazil |
14/1(+65%) | (4) Frazil 14/1, Twice-raced winner. 1 win from 2 runs this year. 9/4, won 16-runner maiden at Naas (8f, soft) 8 days ago, comfortably. More needed at this level. Recent Naas maiden winner capable of better still but faces big jump in class here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The ground would be a concern for CAIRO, who returns from an absence, but his class may see him through. The Quality Road colt was last seen chasing home star stablemate Paddington in the Irish 2,000 Guineas in late May. He won the Killavullan Stakes last year with a good cut in the ground which would give some hope he could get through testing conditions. Honey Girl is a consistent sort and gets through ground. She could be a danger. Power Under Me was slightly disappointing last time at Cork but is a dual course and distance winner, including when claiming this race 12 months ago in soft ground, and has to be respected.
CAIRO hasn't been seen since an excellent second in the Irish 2000 Guineas but has been found a good opportunity back down in class. Honey Girl is feared most ahead of Snapraeterea.
Irish 2,000 Guineas second CAIRO could be hard to beat if handling the ground

2nd (12) (6/1 +25%) San Aer |
6/1(+25%) | (12) San Aer 6/1, Creditable third of 11 in handicap at Naas (7f, soft, 15/2) 8 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Eyecatching third at Naas last weekend; likes ground and could go well off light weight. |

10/1(-100%) | (6) Catena Zapata 10/1, Creditable second of 10 in handicap (12/1) at Cork (8f, soft) 26 days ago. Shortlist material. Fine comeback Cork second and rider's 7lb claim make him a leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (18/1 -13%) Walhaan |
18/1(-13%) | (11) Walhaan 18/1, Remains a maiden after 22 Flat runs. Twenty five runs since last win in 2018. Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap (14/1) at Tipperary (9f, heavy) 21 days ago. Handled testing conditions at Tipperary when just behind Timeless Soul; place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (7/1 +36%) Saltonstall |
7/1(+36%) | (2) Saltonstall 7/1, Won this off 2 lb higher last year. Warmed up for this year's renewal with a respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Tipperary (9f, heavy, 10/1) 21 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Should make a bold bid to defend his crown. Last year's winner not quite in the same form this year but now 2lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 +45%) Joe Masseria |
6/1(+45%) | (5) Joe Masseria 6/1, Latest win at Cork in April. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Naas (7f, soft, 7/1) 8 days ago. Trainer going well. Looks competitive on form. Respectable run at Naas last weekend but more required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -9%) Timeless Soul |
12/1(-9%) | (1) Timeless Soul 12/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. 25/1, creditable third of 12 in handicap at Tipperary (9f, heavy) 21 days ago, never nearer. Tipperary eyecatcher; drop in trip not ideal but top-weight a definite player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 -71%) Fernao |
12/1(-71%) | (7) Fernao 12/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Listowel in June. 8/1 and visored for 1st time, good second of 11 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, soft) 29 days ago, no match for winner. Recent Curragh second when visored; untried on testing ground, chance if handling it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (9/2 +68%) Excuzio Joe |
9/2(+68%) | (9) Excuzio Joe 9/2, First run since leaving Matthew J. Smith when creditable second of 7 in handicap at Gowran (7f, heavy, 9/1) 6 days ago, no match for winner. Excellent Gowran comeback run 6 days ago although this is a better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (10/1 +0%) Current Option |
10/1(+0%) | (3) Current Option 10/1, Course winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 16/1, creditable fifth of 17 in handicap at this course (7.3f, good to firm) 43 days ago. Largely out of form this year and may struggle to get this trip on the prevailing ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (33/1 -106%) Spanish Tenor |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Spanish Tenor 33/1, Course winner. Latest win at Listowel in September. 14/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Naas (7f, soft) 8 days ago. One of 3 from the Ado McGuinness yard. Listowel win came on soft but handicapper may just have his measure now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CATENA ZAPATA ran well on his return from an absence at Cork last month when staying on to chase home Helpmeout in Cork. The Vadamos gelding has gained his two wins at Dundalk but ran well in testing conditions last time and with in-form apprentice Wayne Hassett taking 7lb off now he looks nicely treated. Saltonstall is a couple of pounds lower than when winning this last year and has to be respected having run a couple of nice races recently. Aidan O'Brien runs two and the unexposed Subzero is an interesting one with Jack Cleary taking 7lb off.
SALTONSTALL is back on a winning mark and can land this race for the second year in succession for the Ado McGuinness team. There should be more to come from unexposed Aidan O'Brien 3-y-o Subzero who is second choice ahead of last month's Cork runner-up Catena Zapata.
Value may be had here in the bottom-weighted SAN AER, an eyecatching third at Naas last weekend on this sort of ground

9/2(-13%) | (7) Boogie Woogie 9/2, Useful filly. 4/1, creditable 5¼ lengths fourth of 11 to Novus in Pride Stakes at Newmarket (10f, soft) 9 days ago. Yard having good spell. Cheekpieces back on. Ought to go close. Respected on best form but has to improve on recent efforts; handles ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (20/1 +20%) Sunchart |
20/1(+20%) | (5) Sunchart 20/1, Useful gelding. One win from 24 Flat runs. Twenty two runs since last win in 2019. 80/1, twenty third of 30 in handicap at the Curragh (16.8f, heavy) 28 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Back from staying handicaps; likes ground but hard to see him playing a major role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (25/1 -25%) Hannibal Barca |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Hannibal Barca 25/1, Last of 5 in minor event (2/1) at Punchestown (9f, good to soft) 39 days ago. Plenty to prove at present. Gallinule winner last year but last on both starts this season; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/2 +0%) Layfayette |
5/2(+0%) | (1) Layfayette 5/2, Smart gelding. 25/1, good length third of 7 to Adelaide River in Paddy Power Stakes at this course (12f, good to firm) 43 days ago, slowly away. Has the best form and is reliable, so makes the most appeal. Career-best third in Group 3 Kilternan Stakes here last month; sure to go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +15%) Mashia |
17/2(+15%) | (9) Mashia 17/2, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Naas in May. 14/1, 20¼ lengths last of 11 to Lumiere Rock in Blandford Stakes at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 42 days ago. Not completely dismissed. May yet have more to offer, unproven on this sort of ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 +14%) Beechwood |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Beechwood 12/1, Confirmed previous encouragement when landing 13-runner maiden (11/8) at Killarney (11.2f, good to soft). Off 97 days. More to come but this is a big step up. Killarney maiden winner open to improvement but this is a huge jump in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (15/2 +32%) Self Belief |
15/2(+32%) | (2) Self Belief 15/2, Smart gelding. C&D winner. Below form 8¾ lengths seventh of 13 to Foniska in listed race (10/1) at Cork (8f, soft) 26 days ago. Claims if he can bounce back. Last year's winner has a bit to prove now after lacklustre recent Cork effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/4 +10%) Sprewell |
9/4(+10%) | (3) Sprewell 9/4, Smart colt. C&D winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. 33/1, 8½ lengths last of 8 to Auguste Rodin in Irish Champion Stakes at this C&D (good to firm) 43 days ago. More realistic claims down in grade. C&D Derby Trial winner in similar conditions; down from Group 1 company and major player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SPREWELL takes a drop in grade here and can get back to winning ways on softer ground. The Churchill colt has been highly tried this season with two Derby runs, finishing fourth at Epsom, and he was last seen in the Irish Champion Stakes. His best performances came on softer ground at the start of the season, particularly when winning the Derby Trial at Leopardstown, and he hasn't looked totally at home on faster surfaces, especially in the Irish Derby. This could be a nice confidence booster now. Layfayette is top-rated in the field and is an obvious danger. He was a fine third in Group 3 company at Leopardstown last time having won at the same level previously. Boogie Woogie has been knocking on the door in stakes company since winning her maiden and could be placed material here.
After landing the Royal Whip at the Curragh in August, LAYFAYETTE ran at least as well when third in the Paddy Power Stakes at this course last time. The drop in trip shouldn't pose a problem and he has the best form, so he takes preference over Boogie Woogie, with Sprewell also considered.
Fresh from attaining a career-high mark when third in last month's Kilternan Stakes here LAYFAYETTE (nap) can gain a tenth success

10/1(+38%) | (11) Global Energy 10/1, Respectable fourth of 8 in handicap (25/1) at Killarney (8.1f, heavy) 22 days ago, slowly away. Back up in trip. Sole win came off 7lb higher but that was on good ground in the spring of 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 +25%) Nostringsattached |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Nostringsattached 3/1, 1 win from 3 runs this year. Didn't need to improve to win 19-runner maiden at the Curragh (10f, soft, 6/1) 29 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Curragh maiden winner who brings plenty of potential into her first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (6/1 +45%) Teorema |
6/1(+45%) | (10) Teorema 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 16/5, below form eleventh of 20 in maiden at the Curragh (12f, soft) 10 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Best maiden form at this trip and doesn't look overburdened for handicap debut. |

17/2(+47%) | (15) Speckled Meadow 17/2, Below form eighth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft, 18/1) 15 days ago. Back up in trip. Bounce back needed. Has been below par the last twice on testing ground that she does handle. |

Makes handicap debut. On the shortlist. Recent maiden winner in new blinkers; should go well if seeing out this longer trip. |

10th (13) (40/1 +0%) Influential Lady |

25/1(-79%) | (6) Dazzling Spirit 25/1, Course winner. Latest win at Clonmel in September. Tenth of 11 in handicap (16/1) at Listowel (9f, soft) 31 days ago. Recent winner; handles soft ground but seems to struggle when it gets really testing. |

33/1(+0%) | (12) Golden Star 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Below form eighth of 14 in handicap (25/1) at the Curragh (10f, soft) 10 days ago, slowly away. Has work to do. Beaten 12l in a Curragh handicap over this far only ten days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NOSTRINGSATTACHED looks like a mare that can continue to improve after opening her account at the Curragh last month. The big daughter of Markaz went up 7lb for her maiden success but that looked justified and she is still fairly unexposed. Dumb Love handled testing conditions well when winning her maiden at Bellewstown and having remained on the same mark of 73 she could run well now tried in handicap company. Tea Olive has been knocking on the door and having eased another pound for her most recent run at Bellewstown she could be place material now.
The low-mileage TIME TO BOOGIE made a sound start to her handicap career when third at Dundalk recently and can strike for Aidan O'Brien and Seamie Heffernan. Dumb Love is another lightly-raced 3-y-o from a good stable and is second choice ahead of Turbulence and last month's Punchestown scorer Final Check.
It might pay to take a chance on handicap debutante TEOREMA who returns to what is probably her optimum trip.

3/1(+40%) | (14) Taymura 3/1, Siyouni filly. Half-sister to winner up to 14.7f Tirmizi and 7.3f-1¼m winner Timourid. Makes plenty of appeal on paper, so could get involved if she knows her job. Aga Khan-bred newcomer who commands a check in the betting. |

6/1(+40%) | (13) Quantum Light 6/1, Fair filly. Remains a maiden after 11 Flat runs. Visored for 1st time, below form fifth of 15 in maiden at Naas (7f, soft, 9/2) 8 days ago. Back up in trip. 33/1(-65%) | (1) Applejack Poet 33/1, Making GB/IRE Flat debut. 9/2, won 13-runner handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (17.2f, good) 53 days ago, just holding on. Interesting newcomer to the level. It was a low-grade handicap hurdle at Bellewstown in August; opposable. |

11th (7) (50/1 -25%) Jackie Robinson |
50/1(-25%) | (7) Jackie Robinson 50/1, Once-raced gelding. 16/1, last of 8 in maiden at Navan (5.8f, good to soft) on debut, very slowly away. Off 99 days. Significantly up in trip. Slowly away and never counted over a sprint trip at Navan in July. |

|PU| (9) (17/2 +6%) Thetys |
17/2(+6%) | (9) Thetys 17/2, Once-raced filly on Flat. Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. Won 9-runner juvenile hurdle at Naas (15.5f, good to soft, 11/2). Off 7 months. Tongue strap on 1st time. Of some interest back on the level. Fifth on Flat debut; won a modest handicap hurdle on final run in February. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BALLSBRIDGE may have bumped into a decent sort in Frazil at Naas eight days ago and can open his account now at the third time of asking. The Lord Kanaloa colt looked set to collect last time but was run down inside the final furlong. A similar run may be enough to get the job done now. Quare Hawk was a length-and-a-quarter behind the selection on his debut then and with natural improvement he could be the danger now. Finsceal Go Deo is a frustrating sort but has the ability to be a big player and it would be no surprise if she reached the frame again.
BALLSBRIDGE stepped up on his debut when runner-up at Naas 8 days ago and there's potential for more up in trip, so he's the obvious selection. Quare Hawk is a danger on the back of a promising start and Taymura makes plenty of appeal on pedigree.
Ballsbridge has clear claims on last week's Naas run but that form brings QUARE HAWK firmly into the equation.

7/1(+50%) | (17) Eastern Legend 7/1, Latest win at Listowel in September. 9/2, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Naas (10.5f, heavy) 7 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Looks competitive on form. Consistent but can hang for pressure and this represents a stiff rise in class. |

3rd (15) (12/1 +40%) Crassus |
12/1(+40%) | (15) Crassus 12/1, Creditable seventh of 16 in handicap (22/1) at Naas (16.1f, heavy) 7 days ago, nearest finish. Stable in good form. Can give a good account. Strong stayer who is likely to be finishing his race out well back over 1m4f. |

Expected to be bang there off a 3 lb lower mark. Progressive 5yo and probably better than he showed in the Irish Cesarewitch. |

5th (9) (15/2 +6%) Brogue |
15/2(+6%) | (9) Brogue 15/2, 1 win from 3 runs this year. 8/1, good sixth of 16 in handicap at Naas (16.1f, heavy) 7 days ago, nearest finish. Down in trip. Stepping back in the right direction. Fared well to be sixth in the face of his stiffest test yet in strong 2m handicap at Naas. |

18/1(+0%) | (18) Dream Escape 18/1, 9/5, career best when winning 5-runner maiden at Killarney (11.2f, heavy) 22 days ago, eased down. This demands more but he's still not discounted. Will handle the conditions but this demands a career best by some margin. |

7th (8) (15/2 -7%) Imaginarium |
15/2(-7%) | (8) Imaginarium 15/2, Lightly-raced winner. 3/1, good third of 12 in handicap at Listowel (12f, soft) 31 days ago. Stable having good spell. Blinkers on 1st time. Another bold show likely. Finished behind some of these at Galway and perhaps placed at best. |

9th (5) (16/1 +0%) Sionnach Eile |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Sionnach Eile 16/1, Below form nineteenth of 30 in handicap at the Curragh (16.8f, heavy, 50/1) 28 days ago. Back down in trip. Hood back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. Behind Chally Chute in his last two runs, though 2m1f was perhaps beyond last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (6/1 +25%) Smooth Tom |
6/1(+25%) | (7) Smooth Tom 6/1, Course winner. Won 16-runner novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft, 5/2) on NH debut 29 days ago, driven out. Useful on the Flat, so he enters calculations. C&D winner on testing ground and won a decent maiden hurdle last time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (11/1 -22%) Alexandroupolis |
11/1(-22%) | (4) Alexandroupolis 11/1, Lightly-raced winner. Well held in St Leger at Doncaster (14.5f, good to soft, 40/1) 36 days ago. Yard in good form. Makes handicap debut and much respected back in these calmer waters. Not yet exposed and has to be of interest on his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (11/1 +31%) Luke Short |
11/1(+31%) | (13) Luke Short 11/1, Course winner. Career best when landing 14-runner handicap at Dundalk (12f, 6/1) 9 days ago. 8lb higher but trainer going well so should continue to give a good account. Good AW winner last week; goes on soft ground but anything deeper seems to find him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (22/1 -83%) Star Harbour |
22/1(-83%) | (2) Star Harbour 22/1, Latest win at Bellewstown in September. 10/1, good second of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 9 days ago. Can go well again. An in-form 5yo who will go on the ground but this is tougher than he's accustomed to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (12/1 +0%) Gulf Of Mexico |
12/1(+0%) | (11) Gulf Of Mexico 12/1, Lightly-raced winner. 4½ lengths fourth of 6 to Speirling Beag in Eyrefield Stakes (9/2) at this course (9f, soft). Off 12 months. Blinkers on for handicap debut. No forlorn hope. Fourth in a Group 3 12 months ago; off since but top connections have kept the faith. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (10) (18/1 +28%) Soaring Monarch |
18/1(+28%) | (10) Soaring Monarch 18/1, Latest win at Roscommon in July. 14/1, respectable ninth of 22 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 42 days ago. One for the shortlist. Goes up in trip after being held in three strong handicaps since his winning return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (12) (25/1 +24%) Whileuweresleeping |
25/1(+24%) | (12) Whileuweresleeping 25/1, 25/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) on IRE debut 23 days ago. Others appeal more. Perhaps needed her AW run after a year off; interesting on her French form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (19) (80/1 -100%) Out On Friday |
80/1(-100%) | (19) Out On Friday 80/1, 3 wins from 11 runs this year. Latest win at Tramore in September. Well-beaten eleventh of 12 to Brogue in handicap at Down Royal (12.8f, soft, 10/1) 27 days ago so needs to bounce back. Tailed off behind Brogue last time and not ideal being 3lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (16) (16/1 -14%) Solar Breeze |
16/1(-14%) | (16) Solar Breeze 16/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. 7/1, career best when winning 20-runner handicap at Navan (10f, soft) 18 days ago, eased down. HIked up 15 lb but she ought to be in the shake-up again on her first try over 1m4f. Trotted home at Navan (1m2f); further to go this time and off a 15lb higher mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
One-time Derby hope ALEXANDROUPOLIS is a fascinating runner here and should appreciate the softer conditions. He didn't make much impression in the St Leger last month but this is obviously a lesser grade now and he has the ability to be a big player despite carrying plenty of weight for a three-year-old. Star Harbour comes here in fine form and having been a close second at Dundalk last time he should be competitive again off 2lb higher. Smooth Tom won over hurdles at Listowel last month and is a couple of pounds lower than when last running on the Flat. He could reach the frame.
Plenty are in with a shout. CHALLY CHUTE didn't enjoy the rub of the green when tenth at the Curragh last time and can take advantage of a 3 lb drop in the weights to bag a second success of 2023. Solar Breeze is unexposed over this trip and feared most on the back of her impressive Navan success, with Imaginarium, Star Harbour, Moracana and Smooth Tom all in the mix too in a highly competitive event.
A deep handicap that will take some winning. CHALLY CHUTE didn't run at all badly in the Irish Cesarewitch and can do better again.
Ths is the racecard key.
