Walk The Moon |
(4) (3/1 -33%)3/1(-33%) | (4) Walk The Moon 3/1, Little impact on the Flat but has the pedigree for jumping and showed aptitude on hurdling debut when third in juvenile at Wetherby in October. Too free when well-held fifth at Musselburgh since. Leading claims on the Wetherby form. Ran in a decent race last time and has a definite chance on his Wetherby form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Queen Of Steel |
(5) (4/1 +27%)4/1(+27%) | (5) Queen Of Steel 4/1, Poor maiden on the Flat and ran to only a similar level when second of 4 on her Fontwell hurdle debut last month. Questionable what she achieved in a small field on heavy ground at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ellerton |
(1) (10/11 +0%)10/11(+0%) | (1) Ellerton 10/11, Fairly useful Flat on the Flat in France for Tim Donworth. Well beaten pitched into a Cheltenham Grade 2 on his hurdle debut but could fare a lot better with his sights lowered. Engaged 11.35 Newcastle Saturday. French Flat winner; faced a stiff task on his hurdling debut at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Seahouses |
(2) (16/1 -78%)16/1(-78%) | (2) Seahouses 16/1, Fairly useful but ungenuine maiden on Flat (stays 2m) for Ralph Beckett. 11/1, seemed badly in need of the experience when distant fifth of 6 on his Huntingdon hurdle debut 4 weeks ago. Needs to have come on a lot. This is weaker than the Huntingdon hurdle won by Burdett Road he ran in four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Craftymaster |
(3) (20/1 +20%)20/1(+20%) | (3) The Craftymaster 20/1, Modest maiden on Flat, suited by increase in trip when runner-up on 2m Wolverhampton stable debut 6 weeks ago. Yard also runs Walk The Moon. Hurdle debut. Nearly won on the AW last time but that was a low-grade Class 6 handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
QUEEN OF STEEL only found one too good on her hurdling debut at Fontwell last month and it would be no surprise to see her go a place better here. Walk The Moon was well held at Musselburgh last time but is a player based on his effort at Wetherby prior to that, while Seahouses is the pick of the remainder.
WALK THE MOON gets the nod in the hope that he can recapture his Wetherby form. The class-dropping Ellerton would rate a major threat if showing up here rather than Newcastle on Saturday.
A weak juvenile hurdle and ELLERTON has to be of strong interest as he ran okay in a warm race at Cheltenham.

Cloudy Wednesday |
(9) (6/1 -33%)6/1(-33%) | (9) Cloudy Wednesday 6/1, Got off the mark over 21f at Fakenham in February and added to his tally at Huntingdon (2½m) in May. Respectable third at Fakenham in June but peak fitness has to be taken on trust on first outing since. Has form over C&D and solid claims if resuming where he left off in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Barrakhov |
(4) (6/1 -33%)6/1(-33%) | (4) Barrakhov 6/1, Hurdle winner in January 2022. Off since finishing fifth on his Worcester chase debut 13 months ago. Open to improvement in this sphere but betting perhaps the best guide given the length of the absence. Long-while absent but chase debut was promising and he's probably on a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cokytho |
(2) (8/1 -33%)8/1(-33%) | (2) Cokytho 8/1, Fair chaser in France. Well held in 3 outings for Oliver Sherwood last season but no surprise were he to make more of an impact on this return for a new stable. One to keep a close eye on in the betting. Completed once in three runs for Oliver Sherwood and was beaten 18l on that occasion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Miltiades |
(3) (10/3 -21%)10/3(-21%) | (3) Miltiades 10/3, Remains a maiden but has shown encouragement since switched to fences, making a respectable return from 8 months off when 8¾ lengths third of 10 to Supasunrise at Warwick 25 days ago. Entitled to come on for the outing and can go well. Only backed out of it late on when third to Supasunrise at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Supasunrise |
(6) (10/3 -11%)10/3(-11%) | (6) Supasunrise 10/3, Second chase win when seeing off 9 rivals over this trip at Warwick 25 days ago, avoiding the mistakes he's sometimes prone to. Should remain competitive after a 4 lb rise. Good value for his winning margin at Warwick and has only gone up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Out The Glen |
(1) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (1) Out The Glen 12/1, Dual course winner at the start of 2022. Runner-up twice at Huntingdon last spring but ran badly on return from a break there 5 weeks ago, dropping away quickly. Bled when pulled up last time; mostly consistent since sent over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
My Granny Lily |
(10) (17/2 +47%)17/2(+47%) | (10) My Granny Lily 17/2, Competitive off this sort of mark in handicap hurdles without winning. Another creditable effort on reappearance last month and claims if taking to chasing at the first time of asking. Positively ridden before weakening into a 15l fourth at Warwick; 3lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Harry Du Berlais |
(5) (20/1 -25%)20/1(-25%) | (5) Harry Du Berlais 20/1, Won a Market Rasen handicap chase last November but has found life tougher since, including pulling up on his last 2 starts. Tongue tie off, cheekpieces back on. Dangerous mark but he's pulled up in two runs on either side of a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Higgs |
(7) (28/1 -75%)28/1(-75%) | (7) Higgs 28/1, Dual hurdles winner back in 2018. Ran well on a couple of occasions over fences at the start of 2023 but out of sorts when last seen in the spring. Been off for 6 months. Has lost his way since two competitive efforts earlier in the year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fama Et Gloria |
(8) (50/1 +38%)50/1(+38%) | (8) Fama Et Gloria 50/1, Runner-up in Limerick claiming hurdle on final start for Joseph O'Brien, but well beaten all 5 starts for new yard. Remains to be seen whether a switch to fences helps. British form over hurdles is well below his achievements in Ireland. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SUPASUNRISE returned to winning ways over this trip at Warwick just under a month ago and is hard to oppose off just a 4lb higher mark. Miltiades was third in that contest and Henry Daly's gelding could get closer to the selection here as that was his first start for 172 days. Cloudy Wednesday edges out Barrakhov to be best of the rest.
MILTIADES was behind Supasunrise at Warwick last month but that was Henry Daly's charge first outing for 8 months so he's entitled to come on for the outing and a 5 lb swing in the weights might be enough for him to turn the tables on his old rival. Cokytho failed to trouble the judge in Britain last season but is fairly treated on his French form and might make more of an impact having switched yards ahead of his reappearance.
Henry Daly's MILTIADES was eased on the run-in when third to Supasunrise at Warwick and has a chance of reversing those placings.

Thank You Blue |
(1) (7/4 +7%)7/4(+7%) | (1) Thank You Blue 7/4, Placed in 2 bumpers for Sam Thomas 11 months apart. Off a further 10 months before making a winning start over hurdles for new stable at Sedgefield (17f, soft) 24 days ago. Up in trip. Should go well again. Sedgefield win has been franked and strong chance despite his penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Samourai One |
(4) (8/1 +20%)8/1(+20%) | (4) Samourai One 8/1, Modest form in bumpers and well-beaten seventh in novice hurdles a year apart. Had two long absences since showing ability in bumpers two winters ago; quiet return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jemura |
(2) (9/4 +0%)9/4(+0%) | (2) Jemura 9/4, Promise in sole point. Only modest form in 2 bumpers and folded tamely when 29 lengths fourth on Kempton hurdle debut in May. However, he retains potential for his top stable and it's possible he'll pack more punch at the finish after wind surgery. The two bumpers and a Kempton maiden hurdle he's contested were won by useful horses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ottoline |
(7) (10/3 -11%)10/3(-11%) | (7) Ottoline 10/3, Sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Yalltari. Placed in 2 of her 3 bumpers and offered something to work on when fifth of 10 on her 19.5f Chepstow hurdle debut in March. Should be more to come on her return for a stable in cracking form. Placed in bumpers; quiet hurdle debut but retains potential and this is a weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Shillanavogy |
(5) (16/1 -100%)16/1(-100%) | (5) Shillanavogy 16/1, Cost £65,000 after making the frame both starts in Irish points. Well beaten in Ffos Las bumper in the spring but those point efforts suggest he could fare better now jumping over a longer trip. Placed in a point; poor in a bumper but hood is now removed and he may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Breadman |
(6) (50/1 -100%)50/1(-100%) | (6) The Breadman 50/1, Half-brother to 4 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser The Jam Man. Dam Italian 1¼m winner. This is quite a belated debut but he's worth a betting check. Well related but can only be watched on this belated debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Parliament |
(3) (80/1 -100%)80/1(-100%) | (3) Parliament 80/1, Fair winner on Flat in France in 2022 but off for 512 days prior to finishing down the field on his Warwick hurdle debut 26 days ago. Entitled to come on for the outing. Useful Flat winner in France; didn't show much at Warwick but can come on for that run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
THANK YOU BLUE won well on his hurdling debut at Sedgefield last month and the son of Blue Bresil clearly sets the standard here, despite having to carry a 6lb penalty. Jemura was disappointing at Kempton when last seen in May but should not be underestimated on his return following a wind operation. Ottoline will need to improve to score but she merits consideration.
It might be worth taking a chance that wind surgery has had a positive effect on JEMURA. Sedgefield winner Thank You Blue rates an obvious danger, while Ottoline could leave March's Chepstow hurdle debut behind with the Venetia Williams stable continuing in fine form.
Thank You Blue had his Sedgefield form franked this week but he may struggle to concede a penalty to JEMURA.

Sizing Pottsie |
(1) (5/2 -25%)5/2(-25%) | (1) Sizing Pottsie 5/2, Smart chaser for Jessica Harrington in 2021/22 and on his first run after a wind op, showed more than previously for this yard when second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 15 days ago. Sound claims again. After wind surgery he was second to a well-backed unexposed winner at Uttoxeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Risk D'Argent |
(5) (5/2 +17%)5/2(+17%) | (5) Risk D'Argent 5/2, Winning hurdler who reappeared with a good second of 17 at Warwick last month. A 3 lb rise looks fair enough given he was 11 lengths clear of the third. Leading player. Pleasing return at Warwick but not consistent and that tempers enthusiasm. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Colonial Empire |
(2) (11/2 +8%)11/2(+8%) | (2) Colonial Empire 11/2, Progressive last season, winning 3 times, including over C&D. Also scored at Taunton (16.5f) on final outing last term and ran creditably with a recent run under his belt to finish third of 9 in handicap hurdle (15/2) at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Place claims again. Suspicion that he's on a tough mark but can still go well, as he did last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Transatlantic |
(3) (11/1 -57%)11/1(-57%) | (3) Transatlantic 11/1, Dual Flat winner in France got off the mark in this sphere in 2m Huntingdon novice hurdle on final outing for Gary Moore in April 2022. Shaped as if needing the run in handicap hurdle at Ayr (16f, good, 11/2) 29 days ago. Others possess more solid profiles. Engaged 1.11 Bangor Saturday. Had a hard race when a remote third at Bangor on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Polyphonic |
(6) (14/1 -56%)14/1(-56%) | (6) Polyphonic 14/1, Fairly useful form in juvenile company for Milton Harris last season and soon bounced back to form on third outing for this yard when third of 5 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 15 days ago. Engaged 1.11 Bangor Saturday. Also engaged 2.20 Southwell. Looks held by Sizing Pottsie and he finished tailed off at Bangor on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Icarat |
(7) (15/2 -25%)15/2(-25%) | (7) Icarat 15/2, Fair form in French bumpers for Nick Littmoden. Best effort in maiden/novice hurdles for new yard in the spring when fourth of 9 at Ffos Las in April. Interesting now handicapping for the first time (had breathing operation) with his stable in very good form. Engaged 1.11 Bangor Saturday. Has ability but didn't show much of it when beaten a long way out at Bangor on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thunderclap |
(4) (17/2 -42%)17/2(-42%) | (4) Thunderclap 17/2, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat and made steady progress in this sphere last season, winning a Sedgefield maiden in April. His opening handicap hurdle mark looks workable if he's ready to roll. Engaged 1.11 Bangor Saturday. Dropped out tamely when a remote fifth on his handicap debut at Bangor on Saturday.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SIZING POTTSIE finished a close-up second on his return to action at Uttoxeter last month and he rates as the one to beat off the same mark. C&D winner Colonial Empire returned to form with a solid third at Musselburgh and the six-year-old is feared most, with Risk D'Argent likely to be in the shake-up too.
An interesting heat, with Alastair Ralph's RISK D'ARGENT fancied to build on his good second at Warwick and snap a losing streak stretching back 2 years. Thunderclap signed off last season with victory at Sedgefield and merits plenty of respect alongside fellow handicap newcomer Icarat.
David Pipe's SIZING POTTSIE may have bumped into one at Uttoxeter and that was a good effort back from wind surgery.

Brandisova |
(8) (4/1 -14%)4/1(-14%) | (8) Brandisova 4/1, Off the mark over hurdles at Fakenham in February and bettered that when following up in this sphere at the same course (3m, soft) next time. Decent placed efforts both starts since, including at Lingfield on return, and should go well again. Excellent return when only tiring late on; bit to prove right-handed but chance otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ballycamus |
(1) (5/2 +17%)5/2(+17%) | (1) Ballycamus 5/2, Doubled his career tally when scoring at Newbury (24.2f, soft) in March, seeming to relish the emphasis on stamina. Shaped encouragingly when placed both starts this term and will make a chaser (Irish point winner). Matched his best hurdling RPR last time; should be every bit as good over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Special Acceptance |
(4) (7/2 -40%)7/2(-40%) | (4) Special Acceptance 7/2, Plummeted down the weights and posted best effort for some time when second at Haydock (25.6f, good to firm) in April. Backed that up when filling same spot at Huntingdon on return and must enter calculations. Responded well for pressure to close on the winner in a veterans' race at Huntingdon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Inflexible |
(2) (7/1 +7%)7/1(+7%) | (2) Inflexible 7/1, Performed with credit both outings in France and fair form over hurdles so far for current stable. Let down by jumping back over fences at Warwick on comeback but return to further will suit. Disappointed on return to fences at Warwick and is not progressing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Val Dancer |
(6) (8/1 -33%)8/1(-33%) | (6) Val Dancer 8/1, Runner-up in a bumper and made second hurdles start a winning one at Bangor (19.6f. heavy) a year ago. Didn't fire subsequently and made just a satisfactory start to life over fences when third at Ludlow on return. Headgear applied. His third at Ludlow on chasing debut (2m4f, good to soft) was a 21l defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Has Troke |
(7) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (7) Has Troke 9/1, Fair hurdler who was more miss than hit last season and never landed a blow at Lingfield on chase bow/return. Never remotely dangerous on chase debut and may need the cheekpieces back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Aviewtosea |
(5) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (5) Aviewtosea 16/1, Patchy form over both hurdles and fences this season and ran a moody race at Market Rasen 10 days ago. Others more solid. Third at Stratford in October but has been very flat in his two subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mortens Leam |
(3) (40/1 +0%)40/1(+0%) | (3) Mortens Leam 40/1, Five-time winner over fences but offered little on return from 21 months off at Fontwell on Boxing Day and has plenty to prove now returning from another absence. Getting long in the tooth now and was pulled up last December after a long layoff. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BALLYCAMUS lost little in defeat when finding only Benign Dictator too strong at Warwick last month. A 2lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from opening his account at the first attempt over fences. Special Acceptance should put his experience in this discipline to good effect and is a viable alternative, while it's too early to write off the lightly-raced Inflexible.
BALLYCAMUS has shaped well on both his starts back from a break this season and this Irish point winner remains of interest now going chasing with his yard remaining in fine form. Brandisova and Special Acceptance are feared most having made promising reappearances at Lingfield and Huntingdon respectively.
Preference is for BALLYCAMUS, who matched his best hurdles RPR last time and there's reason to believe he might be better over fences.

Harkangel |
(5) (6/1 -20%)6/1(-20%) | (5) Harkangel 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler who resumed from 9 months off with a solid fourth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (21.2f, soft) 24 days ago. Big shout eased 1 lb with that run under her belt. 5yo who has a lowly mark and has shown some promise during light career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ostrava Du Berlais |
(1) (6/1 -20%)6/1(-20%) | (1) Ostrava Du Berlais 6/1, Fair maiden hurdler/chaser for Patrice Quinton in France. Changed hands for €30,000 in November 2022 but pulled up in Wincanton handicap 22 days ago starting out for her new yard after a 13-month absence. Market check advised on second run for in-form yard, but was pulled up on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bushtucker Park |
(4) (7/2 +13%)7/2(+13%) | (4) Bushtucker Park 7/2, Lightly-raced maiden who shaped well when third of 10 to Annie Day in handicap hurdle at Warwick (19f, heavy) 25 days ago, left with too much to do. Expected to be bang there. Engaged 2.56 Bangor Saturday. Fair third on reappearance; disappointing at Bangor yesterday but can't be written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Catlin |
(6) (7/1 +13%)7/1(+13%) | (6) Catlin 7/1, Scored over fences at Newcastle last November but failed to fire on her final 2 starts last term. Reverts to hurdles on return and needs to put her best foot forward. All three of her wins have come in 2m7f chases at Newcastle; this is a different scenario. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sindabella |
(7) (12/1 -50%)12/1(-50%) | (7) Sindabella 12/1, Arrives below form, cheekpieces back on/had a wind op before pulled up (reportedly lame) in Market Rasen handicap in June. More is required. Form has gone the wrong way but she's dropped down the weights and is not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Annie Day |
(3) (15/8 -15%)15/8(-15%) | (3) Annie Day 15/8, Made a winning return from 9 months off in 10-runner handicap hurdle at Warwick (19f, heavy) 25 days ago. Failed to go on from a successful start last season though so needs to back it up now. Won on reappearance; may be best caught fresh but leading claims if repeating that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dazzling Dove |
(2) (20/1 -67%)20/1(-67%) | (2) Dazzling Dove 20/1, Still a maiden but she made a positive start for new connections until beating only one in Fontwell handicap in April. No surprise to see her get back on track on her reappearance. Tailed off in April when last seen but had previously run well on first 2 starts for yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ANNIE DAY was given a fine ride when landing the spoils on her reappearance at Warwick last month and Ben Case's mare looks more than capable of completing a double off 6lb higher in the ratings. Harkangel displayed enough ability with her fourth-placed finish at Sedgefield to suggest that she can get involved at this level. Despite being just out of the handicap, Sindabella lurks on an attractive mark and is also worth a second look.
A tight-knit handicap in which marginal preference is for HARKANGEL who should be all the better for her recent Sedgefield fourth after an absence and remains with few miles on the clock. The reliable Dazzling Dove could emerge as the main threat on her seasonal return, although Bushtucker Park and Annie Day need factoring in too.
Having pulled well clear with the runner-up when winning on her reappearance at Warwick last month, ANNIE DAY (nap) can follow up.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
