1st (2) (1/9 +67%) Hill Of Tara |
1/9(+67%) | (2) Hill Of Tara 1/9, From a good jumping family and much improved to make a winning handicap debut/reappearance at Ffos Las 8 days ago. A 7 lb penalty doesn't look enough to stop him with further improvement on the cards. Won at Ffos Las on reappearance; looks the type to improve further and rack up a sequence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 +14%) Black Lightning |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Black Lightning 12/1, Losing run is mounting up but made the frame on 3 occasions from reduced mark earlier this term. Ran poorly at Uttoxeter last time, though. Drop back to 2m4f is a plus; however, this exposed 10yo is on a two-year losing spell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/1 +60%) Journey West |
10/1(+60%) | (3) Journey West 10/1, Modest winner in Ireland for Colin McBratney. 66/1, well-held fifth on his completed start for new yard this season. Inconsistent but is competitively treated on best Irish form; third run for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Venetia Williams has her string in excellent form and she should add to her tally here with HILL OF TARA, who ran out an easy winner on his handicap/seasonal debut over 2m4f at Ffos Las eight days ago and the decision to turn him out again quickly under a 7lb penalty looks a wise one. The booking of 3lb claimer Ned Fox eases that burden and the six-year-old looks the sort who could rack up a sequence. He is likely to be given most to worry about by Gift Of Raaj, a novice hurdle winner at Doncaster in February who returns to obstacles on the back of a Flat success over the extended 2m at Newcastle recently. Black Lightning looks best of the rest.
This looks an excellent opportunity for HILL OF TARA to add to his recent Ffos Las success. Recent Flat scorer Gift of Raaj looks the obvious danger.
There should be further improvement to come from HILL OF TARA. On recent evidence, Gift Of Raaj looks the biggest threat.

1st (2) (2/5 +40%) Majestic Jameela |
2/5(+40%) | (2) Majestic Jameela 2/5, Modest maiden on Flat who has been placed on all 4 starts in juvenile hurdles. Very much the one to beat unless the betting vibes are notably strong surrounding one of the hurdle debutantes. Has form figures of 2323 over hurdles; holds leading claims in this weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 +63%) Ruler Of The River |
6/1(+63%) | (5) Ruler Of The River 6/1, Just a modest maiden on the Flat in Ireland for Jack Davison. Tongue tie reached for now hurdling for new connections. Check the betting. Weak contender on her Irish Flat form; needs to improve for new scenario. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (20/1 -25%) Rebecca West |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Rebecca West 20/1, Modest form on Flat and hasn't achieved much in 2 hurdle starts for new yard this month, beaten 23 lengths when fourth of 11 at Wincanton latterly. Has something to find on Flat and hurdles form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (12/1 -167%) Royal Toast |
12/1(-167%) | (4) Royal Toast 12/1, Fair form in pair of maidens on the Flat in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien. New connections acquired him for 10,000 gns last month. Starts out over hurdles in an ordinary race. Showed promise in two Flat maidens for Joseph O'Brien; unexposed; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 -114%) Bubblecraft |
15/2(-114%) | (1) Bubblecraft 15/2, Fair at up to 13f on the Flat in France, winning a claimer when last seen in July. Betting should guide now hurdling. Off the mark in Dax claimer on final Flat outing in France; interesting contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Stuart Edmunds won this race in 2017 and 2020 and he has strong claims again courtesy of MAJESTIC JAMEELA, who has been placed on all four hurdle starts to date and this looks a little easier than the 2m Ludlow event in which she was a respectable third off this mark last month. Bubblecraft cost 21,000gns after winning on the level in France and has to be of interest for Michael Wigham, especially if the market vibes are positive. Royal Toast was an expensive yearling who didn't pull up any trees in two starts on the level but could improve now tried over obstacles.
This looks a good chance for MAJESTIC JAMEELA to get off the mark over hurdles at the fifth time of asking. The chief threat may come from Tony Carroll's Royal Toast.
Bubblecraft and Royal Toast are interesting hurdles debutantes. MAJESTIC JAMEELA is the pick on hurdles form as things stand.

1st (6) (16/5 +47%) Everything'sontick |
16/5(+47%) | (6) Everything'sontick 16/5, Chepstow maiden hurdle winner showed lots to like when runner-up after a wind-op and a year off at Plumpton in March. Went wrong way in following 2 outings, but has the physique for chasing and could get back on track. Lightly raced hurdler; poor run last time but could get back on track now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 -50%) Animal |
6/1(-50%) | (5) Animal 6/1, As good as ever when winning at Kempton in March. Found to have bled on next start at Market Rasen, which has to be a concern, but prior form gives him a chance in this company. Remote fourth at Market Rasen in April; not discounted back after a break now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 +30%) Spago |
7/2(+30%) | (7) Spago 7/2, Placed on all 3 runs over hurdles and showed some aptitude when fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Kempton (18f, good) on debut over fences 29 days ago. Entitled to progress as a chaser, especially now faced with more suitable test. Encouraging fourth on chasing debut at Kempton; player with longer trip promising to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (20/1 -186%) Oscar Robertson |
20/1(-186%) | (2) Oscar Robertson 20/1, Very easy winner at Wetherby in November 2021 and finished runner-up twice subsequently that season. Missed all of last term and has left Tom George, so market can prove guide. Off for 19 months since pulled up at Perth; market can guide on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 -38%) Track And Trace |
11/2(-38%) | (8) Track And Trace 11/2, Placed in an Irish point and got off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt when scoring at Warwick in September. Not in same form at Cheltenham last time but remains one to be positive about quickly sent chasing. Won at Warwick in September; worth considering sent over fences in first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (3/1 -9%) One True King |
3/1(-9%) | (1) One True King 3/1, Remains well treated on his best form and arrives after a pair of sound efforts, staying on from a long way back when sixth of 19 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (25f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Player. In good nick, ending up with a lot to do when sixth at Cheltenham latest; likely player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/1 +55%) Milan Bridge |
9/1(+55%) | (4) Milan Bridge 9/1, Looked a good prospect when scoring 3 times over hurdles in 2021/22 campaign but was majorly disappointing over fences last time and failed to revive for new yard at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago. Well-held fourth at Huntingdon on his yard debut after a wind op; others appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ONE TRUE KING returns to this venue for the first time since landing a novice hurdle nearly three years ago and there is plenty to like about his chances, representing the in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies yard and he ran well in defeat off this mark in a better contest at Cheltenham last month. His match-fitness could give him the edge over Animal, who has strong claims on the form of his impressive 3m Kempton victory in March but Suzy Smith's charge hasn't raced since April. A winner over hurdles in September, the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Track And Trace receives weight all round on his handicap/chasing debut and a bold bid would come as no surprise.
SPAGO appeals as the sort to make a better chaser and should find the anticipated improvement with this markedly longer trip looking in his favour. One True King has been running well in tougher company recently and should prove capable of giving another good account, with chase-newcomer Track And Trace also interesting.
Fergal O'Brien's SPAGO made a promising start in this sphere when fourth at Kempton and gets the vote now his stamina is drawn out more.

1st (6) (13/8 +71%) Passing Kate |
13/8(+71%) | (6) Passing Kate 13/8, Has made a positive start for in-form yard this season, going through the race as if ahead of her mark at Stratford recently. Dropped another 2 lb and could be worth chancing. Has shown promise for new yard; fifth of 16 at Stratford 18 days ago; player off 2lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -14%) Crem Fresh |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Crem Fresh 2/1, Hasn't stood much racing to date but ran her rivals ragged under an aggressive ride after 8 months off at Fakenham (20f) last week. Obvious claims under a penalty if she's come out of that okay. Off 8 months before landing Fakenham h'cap; major player turned out under a 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 -71%) Stamina Chope |
6/1(-71%) | (2) Stamina Chope 6/1, Has returned over hurdles in good form, the emphasis on speed probably helping as she took a 25f Plumpton handicap from a subsequent winner 4 weeks ago. Back up 5 lb and this massive drop in trip doesn't look to be in her favour. Off the mark in this sphere at Plumpton latest; up 5lb but she can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 +76%) Damask |
8/1(+76%) | (5) Damask 8/1, Poor form over hurdles, well held again in Warwick handicap on recent return (lost a shoe). Hard to fancy. Failed to kick on since handicapping; well-held fifth at Warwick; needs a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/2 -233%) Aviewofthestars |
15/2(-233%) | (3) Aviewofthestars 15/2, Two from 2 since joining Fergal O'Brien, following up her Plumpton success back down at 2m at Worcester 6 weeks ago, despite conceding first run to plenty. Has moved yards again (£7,000 buy) and respected in hat-trick bid. Improved for Fergal O'Brien when scoring at Plumpton/Worcester; in the mix for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (33/1 -175%) Sawpit Samantha |
33/1(-175%) | (4) Sawpit Samantha 33/1, Down the field in bumper/all 3 starts over hurdles. Her mark looks a stiff one now handicapping after 8 months off but she could improve. Brought along steadily in three runs over hurdles last term; may do better now in h'caps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CREM FRESH made a winning return to action at Fakenham last Monday in comfortable fashion and the mare is unlikely to have any issue with carrying a 7lb penalty, despite the fact she drops back in trip. Aviewofthestars bids for a hat-trick of victories on her first start for Stella Barclay, while any market support for Sawpit Samantha on her handicap debut would make her of interest.
There is a strong suspicion PASSING KATE is ahead of her mark and she's worth chancing. Crem Fresh is an obvious player if she's come out well from last week's Fakenham win when returning from another long absence. Aviewofthestars has moved yards again since her Worcester success but has to be respected in her hat-trick bid.
It is worth siding with PASSING KATE, who caught the eye when a strong-travelling Stratford fifth and can capitalise on a lenient mark.

1st (3) (1/2 -100%) Hasthing |
1/2(-100%) | (3) Hasthing 1/2, French bumper winner who made a very encouraging start for this yard last season, putting up a smart effort in Aintree Grade 2 when last seen. Smashing jumping prospect who will relish this test. Useful bumper winner; fine third in Aintree Grade 2; very interesting hurdles debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 -100%) Rocket Ronald |
12/1(-100%) | (4) Rocket Ronald 12/1, Flemensfirth gelding. Dam lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, closely related to useful hurdler (2m/2¼m winner) Theatre Girl and half-sister to smart hurdler/useful chaser (2m-2½m winner) Ring The Boss. Lots to like on paper and needs a market check. Flemensfirth gelding; noteworthy newcomer who is worth monitoring in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +71%) Globe Player |
7/2(+71%) | (6) Globe Player 7/2, Finished a place worse but several lengths closer than in a Warwick bumper in the spring when third in Huntingdon maiden hurdle on return, shaping like a stayer. That had the look of a good race but he might need more time. Promising third at Huntingdon; Nathaniel gelding seems sure to be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/2 +46%) Zmiinyi |
13/2(+46%) | (5) Zmiinyi 13/2, £25,000 buy, runner-up completed start in Irish points. Attracted support but was well held on hurdles debut at Chepstow behind Minella Missile (won Cheltenham Grade 2 on Friday) 3 weeks ago. Hinted at promise on hurdling debut when ninth at Chepstow; can take a step forward now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (250/1 -25%) Captain Copper |
250/1(-25%) | (1) Captain Copper 250/1, No show in points/maiden and novice hurdles. Maiden pointer who has cut little ice in three runs over hurdles; others much preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (16/1 -14%) Fortuitous Find |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Fortuitous Find 16/1, Winning pointer who offered something to work on sent hurdling in decent contest at Doncaster a year ago. Should improve. Winning pointer; encouraging debut 3rd in Doncaster novice; not discounted after absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -100%) No More No |
200/1(-100%) | (7) No More No 200/1, Unplaced completed start in points (May 14). Tongue tie on for Rules debut. Engaged 12.30 Fontwell Sunday. Unseated rider early at Fontwell (2m1f) yesterday on rules debut; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HASTHING sets a high standard based on his bumper form, having placed in the Grade 2 at Aintree, and the six-year-old is expected to be a cut above the opposition here. Globe Player finished third at Huntingdon on his first attempt over timber and is entitled to step forward from that display. Zmiinyi was disappointing at Chepstow on his Rules debut, but he could easily leave that effort behind him.
HASTHING is a cracking jumping prospect for his top connections and can make a winning start over hurdles in a thin contest. Rocket Ronald might be the danger on his hurdles debut.
Dual bumper winner HASTHING signed off last term with a fine third in a Grade 2 Aintree race and is impossible to oppose now hurdling.

1st (2) (9/2 +10%) Jacks Touch |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Jacks Touch 9/2, Lost her form over hurdles but went some way to stopping the slide despite making errors on chasing debut at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago. Well treated if she can put in a clearer round of jumping. Encouraging chasing debut fourth at Huntingdon; she can take a step forward now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/1 -145%) Impression Chic |
4/1(-145%) | (6) Impression Chic 4/1, Ex-pointer who stepped up on what she showed in a handful of runs over hurdles when making a winning chase debut in a first-time tongue strap at Fontwell in October. Good second at Musselburgh next time and fancied to get back to winning ways. Debut chase winner at Fontwell before beaten neck at Musselburgh (jinked left); big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 +24%) Lady Pacifico |
25/1(+24%) | (8) Lady Pacifico 25/1, Made a winning start over hurdles at Leicester (2m) in 2021 but her record has been patchy since. Off 140 days and has left David Weston ahead of this chasing debut. Below par both runs this summer; goes chasing for her new yard with a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -20%) Santa Clarita |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Santa Clarita 12/1, Fair form over hurdles/fences in France. Stepped up on yard debut when third of 7 over hurdles at Huntingdon but well held otherwise for current connections. May benefit from reappearance (over fences) at Ffos Las, so not completely dismissed. Looked rusty after seven months off when seventh at Ffos Las last month; can build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 +13%) Spitfire Girl |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Spitfire Girl 7/2, Winning hurdler who was first past the post on her Ffos Las chase debut/reappearance, losing the race in the stewards' room after causing interference on the run-in. Disappointed at Hereford next time but race may have come too soon. First past the post on her chasing debut at Ffos Las but a remote third at Hereford since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (6/1 +82%) Chic Avenue |
6/1(+82%) | (7) Chic Avenue 6/1, Modest in bumpers and similar story over hurdles last season, including making little impact in a couple of handicaps. Remains to be seen whether a switch to fences sparks an upturn in her fortunes. Ended last term with two poor efforts; sent over fences for her return with more required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (5/2 +17%) Auditoria |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Auditoria 5/2, Creditable second of 5 in handicap chase (5/1) at Fontwell (19.5f, good) 44 days ago. Visor back on. Level is fairly well established but she should be on the premises. Back on track when second at Fontwell last month; she's shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -525%) Givemylovetorose |
100/1(-525%) | (4) Givemylovetorose 100/1, 33/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (19.5f, heavy), dropping away after 3 out. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Declan Queally. Doesn't make much appeal on chasing debut. Ex-Irish maiden hurdler; needs yard switch to spark resurgence on first go over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
IMPRESSION CHIC lost nothing in defeat when attempting to follow up last month's Fontwell success at Musselburgh 12 days ago and Richard Hobson's unexposed chaser is fancied to regain the winning thread, despite being raised a further 2lb in the handicap. Spitfire Girl didn't appear to see out 3m1f at Hereford on her latest outing but she is well worth considering now eased in both trip and class, while Auditoria, a runner-up on her most recent start, appeals most of the remainder.
IMPRESSION CHIC has upped her form since switched to chasing and she's likely to get back to winning ways. Auditoria is likely to give her running again and it would be no surprise if Spitfire Girl got back on track.
More good times look on the cards for Richard Hobson's progressive mare IMPRESSION CHIC (nap), who can make it 2-3 in this sphere.

1st (2) (3/1 +85%) J'Ai Froid |
3/1(+85%) | (2) J'Ai Froid 3/1, Useful handicap hurdler at his best but has been struggling for form, finishing down the field at Market Rasen (20.6f) when last seen in June. Has fallen in the weights but has enough to prove after a break. Rattled off a four-timer in 2021 but no joy since and his reduced mark is warranted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (16/5 -16%) Harel Du Marais |
16/5(-16%) | (3) Harel Du Marais 16/5, Still looking for his first win but ran well on both of his starts in August, in first-time hood when runner-up in a Perth maiden on his latest outing. Can give another good account back in a handicap on first run for yard after leaving Stuart Crawford. 0-11 and bought for £24,000; has the form to be competitive off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (Evens -25%) Oakley Dancer |
Evens(-25%) | (4) Oakley Dancer Evens, Improved on previous hurdling efforts under a positive ride when landing novice at Chepstow in March. Defied a penalty under similar tactics at Newton Abbot next time and she remains capable of better as she goes handicapping on her return. Leading contender. This mark will ask questions of her but clearly progressing well after her novice wins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 +50%) Believe Jack |
8/1(+50%) | (5) Believe Jack 8/1, Made a winning start for this stable in a Hereford novice hurdle back in November 2021. However, not in the same form next time and, after a 22-month absence, offered little when pulled up at Newton Abbot 11 days ago. It was a good handicap in which he pulled up after a long absence at Newbury. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It looks best to side with OAKLEY DANCER, who makes her seasonal/handicap debut in search of a hat-trick, having won at Chepstow and Newton Abbot earlier in the year. Word Has It won on his seasonal debut at Fontwell on Sunday and a 7lb penalty may not halt him if he can replicate that effort, while Harel Du Marais, who is now 4lb lower than when finishing a creditable third in handicap company at Perth in August, completes the shortlist.
OAKLEY DANCER made it back-to-back wins under another positive ride when scoring at Newton Abbot in May and she can land the hat-trick with more still to offer on her handicap debut. Harel du Marais was in good form when last seen in the summer and could go well again on his stable debut, with Word Has It also considered if taking up this engagement.
This may not take a great deal of winning and Mark Walford could have found the right race for his new recruit HAREL DU MARAIS.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
