Heliogabalus |
(2) (7/2 -5%)7/2(-5%) | (2) Heliogabalus 7/2, Twice-raced gelding. Much better effort when third of 13 in maiden (50/1) at Dundalk (8f). Off 6 months. Open to further improvement. Dundalk third suggested more was to come; yard have made an excellent start to the season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (11/10 +41%) Thor's Hammer |
11/10(+41%) | (5) Thor's Hammer 11/10, Fairly useful colt. Good second of 8 in maiden (13/8) at Gowran (7f, soft) 20 days ago. Yard in good form. Folly to ignore. C&D second at two; promising reappearance and big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

12/1(+25%) | (1) Babich 12/1, €16,000 yearling, Decorated Knight gelding. Half-brother to winner abroad by Bobby's Kitten. Leading jumps stable has made a low-key start to Flat campaign; may need this. |

50/1(+38%) | (6) Warrior Lord 50/1, Twice-raced gelding. Last of 15 in maiden at Leopardstown (8f, heavy, 50/1). Off 6 months. Never counted in both maidens in October; can only be watched on return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
THOR'S HAMMER is the most experienced of these and may put that know-how to good use. His C&D second to Bremen last summer reads well, with that colt now rated 100, and there wasn't much wrong with his return to action at Gowran where he chased home a promising colt of Paddy Twomey's. Ben Coen's mount handles soft ground. Master Of The Hunt is rated 4lb higher than the selection after some fair efforts over 7f last term. Disappointing on his comeback at the Curragh, he now tries a mile for the first time. Jessica Harrington has really hit form in recent days and Heliogabalus, much improved on his second start when only beaten a length at Dundalk, can't be discounted.
MASTER OF THE HUNT sets the standard on the pick of his 2-y-o form and can bounce back now up in trip. Thor's Hammer is next best on form, while Heliogabalus is open to improvement still, and also interesting.
Preference is for THOR'S HAMMER, second over C&D last year and also second to a decent type on his recent return at Gowran

1st (1) (10/11 +24%) Alpheratz |
10/11(+24%) | (1) Alpheratz 10/11, Lightly-raced winner. 10/3, very good 3½ lengths fifth of 11 to A Lilac Rolla in 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown (7.1f, heavy) 37 days ago. The one to beat. Group 3 second drops in class and major player if handling the quicker ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 +10%) Uluru |
3/1(+10%) | (4) Uluru 3/1, Twice-raced winner. 10/3, first run since leaving Kevin Thomas Coleman when fourth of 13 in minor event at Naas (7f, heavy). Off 7 months. Open to improvement, particularly now tackling 1m for the first time. Yard won this 12 months ago. Likely more to come this year; rider's claim could well bring her into the mix here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (22/1 -57%) Orderofthephoenix |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Orderofthephoenix 22/1, Thrice-raced winner. 18/1, possibly needed the run when last of 5 in minor event at Naas (8f, heavy) 51 days ago, in touch 2f out and dropping away soon after. Entitled to be sharper with that under her belt. Ground against her at Naas; better ground now to suit but likely needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 -43%) Tannola |
5/2(-43%) | (3) Tannola 5/2, Promising sort who matched previous best when winning 5-runner Galway maiden (7.1f) in September. Related to a number of smart sorts and she's the type to do better still as a 3-y-o for her very good yard. Should relish the trip, acts on the ground and the type to progress this year; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Connections of ALPHERATZ will welcome any of the forecast rain that arrives as the Phoenix Of Spain filly is very effective on soft ground. Her form is rock-solid and she almost won a Group 3 on her reappearance at the Curragh. Seven furlongs may have been a bit sharp for her when fifth in another strong stakes race at Leopardstown and this trip looks ideal. Tannola has a few pounds to find on ratings and lacks a recent run. She was twice second to smart types last term before winning a soft-ground Galway maiden at cramped odds. Uluru readily won a soft-ground maiden for Kevin Coleman before running creditably in a sales race at Naas on stable debut.
Successful on the second of her 2 starts in maidens last year, ALPHERATZ has improved again this term, running creditably when fifth in 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown 37 days ago, and a repeat of that level of form should see her playing a lead role. Tannola and Uluru both promise to do better as 3-y-os and rate next best.
None of the quartet can be ruled out but ALPHERATZ has the best form and if handling the ground could take some beating

1st (5) (11/8 +31%) See Me Through |
11/8(+31%) | (5) See Me Through 11/8, Lightly-raced colt. Bit below form fourth of 20 in handicap at Leopardstown (8f, heavy, 11/2) 37 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not completely dismissed. First-time cheekpieces could bring about the required improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +33%) Free Flow |
2/1(+33%) | (2) Free Flow 2/1, Fair gelding. Remains a maiden after 10 Flat runs. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 12/1) 39 days ago. Back down in trip. Drop back in trip and ground to suit but place claims at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/1 +8%) Dalva's Boys |
11/1(+8%) | (1) Dalva's Boys 11/1, Farhh gelding. Dam ran twice, out of useful 2-y-o 5f winner Loch Jipp. Unlikely one to make an immediate impact on belated debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (25/1 -108%) Lord Raven |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Lord Raven 25/1, Raven's Pass gelding. Dam 2-y-o 6f winner who stayed 1m. Likely to need the experience. Newcomer likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (22/1 -38%) Lohengrin |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Lohengrin 22/1, Lightly-raced gelding. First run since leaving William Haggas when tenth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 40/1) 32 days ago. Back down in trip. Hard to fancy. Well held on last month's yard debut at Dundalk and hard to see him playing a major role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4/1 -100%) Quantum Light |
4/1(-100%) | (8) Quantum Light 4/1, Fair filly. Remains a maiden after 15 Flat runs. 9/1, third of 7 in maiden at Navan (8f, good to soft) 7 days ago. Has been struggling for form this year but visor goes back on. Multiple placed maiden; plenty to find with Uncanny on Navan run a week ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (40/1 -100%) Perseids |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Perseids 40/1, Remains a maiden after 7 Flat runs. Tongue strap on for 1st time, ninth of 10 in handicap at Leopardstown (7.1f, heavy, 150/1) 34 days ago. Needs to get back to form of last year on decent ground to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (22/1 -83%) One Boss |
22/1(-83%) | (6) One Boss 22/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Sixteenth of 17 in handicap (100/1) at Gowran (9.4f, heavy) 21 days ago. Ground probably against her of late, is now to suit so can't rule out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This maiden is now wide-open following Uncanny's withdrawal, and it could pay to side with QUANTUM LIGHT, who was third, one place behind the aforementioned daughter of Churchill, at Navan last week. That looks the best piece of recent form on offer and connections have swapped the cheekpieces for a visor, which could help her if she's ridden prominently again. She's not going to get many better opportunities than this and can strike at the main expense of Free Flow and See Me Through.
UCANNY has the best form and is open to further improvement, so this looks an ideal chance for her to get off the mark at the third attempt. Free Flow and See Me Through should give their running but both have plenty to find with the selection.
A modest maiden with SEE ME THROUGH having as good a chance as any and first-time cheekpieces could see him go close

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There's unlikely to be any quarter asked or given in this maximum-field, competitive-looking heat. As such, on the pace and out of trouble is the run style that could yield maximum dividends and, to that end, a low draw would look a prerequisite. KIKI ROBERTS breaks from a helpful berth in two and Colin Keane might make use of that starting position and go forward to take up a prominent spot. Her maiden win came over 6f and she wouldn't want the ground to deteriorate too much, but Kiki Roberts looks primed for a big performance after a pipe-opener at Dundalk last month. Joseph and Aidan O'Brien contenders Puturhandstogether and Gushing are among the others to consider.
PUTURHANDSTOGETHER caught the eye at Gowran last time and there could be a lot more to come from this lightly-raced sort, so he's the obvious choice in a race where most have something to prove. Gushing and Sobriety Blue could both up their game now handicapping.
The superbly-bred GUSHING is handicapped on slow-ground form and she be a significant improver under these conditions.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Chasing a first winner in the training ranks, the breakthrough ought to be just around the corner for Sean Davis, given that plenty of his horses have shown up well in recent times. He also rides his representative here, and VENETIAN looks worthy of an each-way play. We haven't seen the Awtaad gelding since February, and he wasn't in particularly good form then. However, the dual victor is capable at his best and can go forward from stall four to put himself in a good position as the race unfolds up the straight. Recent Gowran Park first and second Cage Rattler and Passionate will justifiably feature on many shortlists. Second in this 12 months back, Kodiac Prince has plenty going for him, despite his top-weight impost.
KODIAC PRINCE is back around his last winning mark and could be the answer to this following a decent second in a big-field Gowran handicap last week. Comfort Line also found just one too good on his latest start at Naas and he is just about second choice ahead of Passionate, who is taken to reverse recent Gowran placings with Cage Rattler on these revised terms and with this step back up to a mile a plus. Daonethatgotaway is another to consider.
Cage Rattler beat PASSIONATE (nap) last week but the latter has a pull in the weights and will appreciate this longer distance.

1st (3) (3/1 +14%) Boher Road |
3/1(+14%) | (3) Boher Road 3/1, 7/1, career best when winning 16-runner handicap at Navan (13f, good to soft) 17 days ago, driven out. Up in trip. Should go well again. Made all over 1m5f at Navan; stepping up to 2m a slight worry when he can be headstrong. |

2nd (9) (15/2 +6%) The Banger Doyle |
15/2(+6%) | (9) The Banger Doyle 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Fairly useful winner at 17f in chases. Creditable third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy, 9/2) 43 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Has come up short in fairly ordinary handicap hurdles on his last three appearances. |

3rd (4) (11/1 +21%) Last Ammo |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Last Ammo 11/1, 7/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at Navan (14f, good to soft) 7 days ago. Back up in trip. Might be spot on now, so shouldn't be dismissed. Capable 5yo but hasn't run well enough in his last two runs to get the vote. |

4th (1) (17/2 -113%) Almuhit |
17/2(-113%) | (1) Almuhit 17/2, Tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, respectable 6 lengths fifth of 16 to Boher Road in handicap at Navan (13f, good to soft, 12/1) 17 days ago. Fairly treated and will be suited by the step back up in trip, so makes plenty of appeal. Fairly treated and ran a nice race at Navan behind the dominating winner Boher Road. |

5th (6) (50/1 -25%) Caradoc |
50/1(-25%) | (6) Caradoc 50/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2019. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Listowel (12f, soft, 50/1). Off 7 months. Significantly up in trip. All his best Flat form in Britain was over shorter; below par five runs for current yard. |

6th (5) (9/2 +36%) Nostra Casa |
9/2(+36%) | (5) Nostra Casa 9/2, Career best when winning 19-runner handicap (8/1) at Navan (13f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Up in trip. Merits respect. Getting high in the weights following a further 7lb rise but he's not easily knocked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 -27%) Neptunes Staircase |
14/1(-27%) | (7) Neptunes Staircase 14/1, Blinkered for 1st time, sixth of 8 in handicap at Navan (14f, good to soft, 4/1) 7 days ago. Up in trip. Others have achieved more. A case can be made off this mark on his solid maiden form; blinkers an excuse latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (25/1 -56%) Dunvegan |
25/1(-56%) | (11) Dunvegan 25/1, 25/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.6f, heavy) 80 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat, poor on last Flat outing. Others more persuasive. Useful dual-purpose performer but pulled up hurdling last time after an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (12/1 +25%) The Tide Turns |
12/1(+25%) | (8) The Tide Turns 12/1, 40/1, tenth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Naas (22.7f, heavy) 79 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Booking of Kennedy a plus. Tongue strap on 1st time on the Flat. Needs a couple of these to falter. Useful hurdler, though hasn't been at his best of late; formerly very capable on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (11/2 -120%) Highwind |
11/2(-120%) | (2) Highwind 11/2, Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. 28/1, 19¾ lengths last of 10 to Kargese in Champion Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown (16f, soft) 10 days ago. Potential to do better on Flat debut for the yard. Useful Flat form in France and again over hurdles since joining Willie Mullins. |

11th (12) (66/1 -32%) Blackberry Jack |
66/1(-32%) | (12) Blackberry Jack 66/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap at Galway (11.8f, heavy, 16/1). Off 6 months. Significantly up in trip. 16 defeats divided between hurdling and the Flat; will do well to shed maiden status here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (6/1 +20%) Byker |
6/1(+20%) | (10) Byker 6/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, 10¼ lengths fourteenth of 19 to Nostra Casa in handicap at Navan (13f, good to soft, 18/1) 17 days ago, not knocked about. Potentially well treated in this sphere and worth noting if the market speaks in his favour. Threatening to lose his way and was well behind on his recent return to the Flat at Navan. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Nostra Casa has won three times from six starts since joining Paul Flynn, beating a subsequent winner (Bay Of Sanibel) into second when successful at Navan on his latest start. The Moyglare cast-off is sure to have plenty of supporters in this competitive heat, with fellow Navan victor Boher Road another leading hope for the in-form Jarlath Fahey yard. For a selection, the Willie Mullins-trained HIGHWIND gets the nod. No worse than third in five outings on the level in France and successful at Deauville, the Zarak bay was again victorious on his debut for current connections over flights at Punchestown in January. Highly tried since, the four-year-old will appreciate this drop in class and with Colin Keane aboard, he should go close. C&D winner Almuhit, The Banger Doyle and Dunvegan, who is better known for his exploits over fences, are others for the shortlist.
ALMUHIT is still on a good mark and shaped well on reappearance with an eye on this step up in trip, so he takes preference over Highwind, who is having his first Flat outing for Willie Mullins. Boher Road is another one to consider.
Plenty of these can be given chances but NEPTUNES STAIRCASE had been coming along nicely until an excusable failure last time.

1st (2) (11/8 -10%) Uxmal |
11/8(-10%) | (2) Uxmal 11/8, Useful gelding. Excellent neck second of 8 to Al Nayyir in listed race at Saint-Cloud (13.9f, good to soft, 89/10). Off 7 months. Will take the beating. Listed placed over 1m6f and a late developer who could do better again at five. |

2nd (4) (11/1 -10%) Enjoy The Dream |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Enjoy The Dream 11/1, Fairly useful mare. Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Hooded for 1st time, 23¼ lengths seventh of 10 to Gala Marceau in Prix Alain du Breil at Auteuil (19.4f, soft, 69/1). Off 11 months. Difficult to know quite what to expect after a year out but her ability is respected. |

3rd (1) (Evens +9%) Bunting |
Evens(+9%) | (1) Bunting Evens, Fairly useful gelding. Useful winner at 16f over hurdles. 9/1, 18 lengths ninth of 10 to Kargese in Champion Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown (16f, soft) 10 days ago. Worthy of interest making Flat debut for the yard (won his only start in France). Flat winner in France; winning hurdler who has been coming up shy in Grade 1s. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -13%) Dads Lad |
9/1(-13%) | (3) Dads Lad 9/1, Useful jumps winner. Pulled up in handicap chase at Aintree (15.8f, good, 14/1). Off 13 months. Remains with potential on the Flat and is worth monitoring in the betting. Last seen pulling up in a competitive 2m handicap chase at Aintree 12 months ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
With race fitness on his side, BUNTING appears the safest option. The French import has a similar profile to stable companion Highwind, the selection in the previous contest. A winner on debut at Fontainebleau last year, the Tony Bloom-owned four-year-old followed up on his first start over flights at Limerick. Tried at the highest level in three outings since, he reverts to the level now and should appreciate this drop in class. The 106-rated Uxmal is the danger. The five-year-old won on his fifth start at Tramore in September and is clearly going in the right direction after he was since beaten by just a neck in Listed company at Saint-Cloud. Six-time winner Dads Lad and Enjoy The Dream, who won a Grade 2 over flights, are both returning from over a year off and are likely to need the run.
UXMAL found only one too good in listed company in France on his final outing last season and he probably won't need to improve to go one better back down in grade. Stablemates Bunting and Dads Lad both have the scope to improved based on jumps form, so they're both feasible threats.
Uxmal has the best Flat form but with race-fitness on his side a chance is taken with BUNTING. He impressed in his only Flat race.
Ths is the racecard key.
