1st (5) (6.5/1 -63%) Boom Boom Pow |
6.5/1(-63%) | (5) Boom Boom Pow 6.5/1, First run since leaving Mark Usher when neck second of 9 to Moondial in handicap at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Has good chance from the same mark. Maiden (0-12); close second to Moondial at Salisbury (7f); every chance of revenge here.. |

2nd (3) (6.5/1 +7%) Island Luck |
6.5/1(+7%) | (3) Island Luck 6.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 80/1, seventh of 10 in novice event at Salisbury (7f, firm) 15 days ago. Makes handicap debut for successful yard but more is needed. Low-key; took a backward step at Salisbury last time; improvement needed on handicap debut. |

3rd (7) (7/1 +56%) White Mist |
7/1(+56%) | (7) White Mist 7/1, More like it when third at Wolverhampton but failed to repeat that effort back on turf when tenth of 14 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good to firm) 36 days ago, unable to sustain effort. 0-7; placed in first-time tongue-tie at Wolverhampton but poor at Brighton since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3.5/1 +0%) Moondial |
3.5/1(+0%) | (1) Moondial 3.5/1, C&D winner. 7/2, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago by neck from Boom Boom Pow. Carries penalty and not certain to uphold the form with that rival. Juvenile C&D winner; carries 6lb extra for a recent Salisbury win (7f; came under A. Jary). |

6th (2) (20/1 -43%) Giddy Aunt |
20/1(-43%) | (2) Giddy Aunt 20/1, 6/1, 4½ lengths sixth of 9 to Moondial in handicap at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Makes polytrack debut and she's not fully exposed. Still seeking first win (0-6) and has work to do with Moondial (from Salisbury); AW debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (9/1 -29%) Ceilidh |
9/1(-29%) | (8) Ceilidh 9/1, First run since leaving Hughie Morrison when respectable third of 6 in handicap at Brighton (6f, good to firm, 10/3) 15 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Merits consideration. Placed on last two starts (Carlisle and Brighton); breakthrough not necessarily imminent.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -100%) Desert Swirl |
28/1(-100%) | (9) Desert Swirl 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 17 lengths last of 9 to Moondial in handicap (20/1) at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Blinkers need to spark her into life. Poor so far (0-4), and toiled behind Moondial at Salisbury last time; blinkers go on.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (11/1 +8%) Fornham St Martin |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Fornham St Martin 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 34 days ago. Significantly up in trip, which promises to suit. 0-4; poor draw on Wolverhampton return (from gelding operation); extra yardage could suit.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (28/1 +58%) Kentucky Bourbon |
28/1(+58%) | (10) Kentucky Bourbon 28/1, 80/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 20 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Maiden (0-6); no positive signs yet; safe enough to look elsewhere for the solution.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
There was only a neck to separate Moondial (first) and BOOM BOOM POW (second) at Salisbury 10 days ago, however, given it was the latter's first start for Jo Davis, she's taken to reverse those placings this time around. Ceilidh performed with credit on his first start for George Baker when third at Brighton earlier this month and shouldn't be dismissed lightly. Musterion has been running well of late but this drop in trip tempers enthusiasm.
BOOM BOOM POW made an excellent start for Jo Davis when a neck second to Moondial and assuming she's in that sort of form switched to the AW, she's weighted to reverse the placings with that rival, Of the rest, Musterion needs considering back down in trip.
The Jo Davis-trained BOOM BOOM POW must prove herself on AW, but is weighted to reverse recent Salisbury placings with Moondial.

1st (4) (4.5/1 +0%) Adela Of Champagne |
4.5/1(+0%) | (4) Adela Of Champagne 4.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Excellent second of 7 in handicap (11/2) at this course (8f) 49 days ago, no match for winner. Type to do better still and makes plenty of appeal. Got plenty wrong but still a good handicap debut here latest (1m); retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (8/1 +76%) Miss Gallagher |
8/1(+76%) | (14) Miss Gallagher 8/1, 16/1, eleventh of 16 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good) 40 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Something to prove at present. Chance on form level of Southwell second last autumn, but little joy over 7f so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8/1 +27%) Weydaad |
8/1(+27%) | (3) Weydaad 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 13/2, fourth of 7 in minor event at Newcastle (8f). Off 6 months. Notable handicap debutant for shrewd stable, so betting will be significant. Promise on last December's debut 1m third round here, and on a good mark judged on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (3.5/1 +0%) Intricate Pillar |
3.5/1(+0%) | (5) Intricate Pillar 3.5/1, Promising individual. Won 13-runner minor event at this C&D (10/1) when last seen. Off 6 months. Makes handicap debut. More to come on just her third outing, so boasts solid claims despite the absence. Unseen since C&D fillies' maiden win last December; mark fine, and the least exposed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 +18%) Proud Fairy |
9/1(+18%) | (1) Proud Fairy 9/1, Eighth of 9 in handicap (13/2) at Brighton (8f, soft). Off 8 months. Likely to need the run, so best watched unless the market speaks in her favour. 7f Chelmsford winner last autumn and stamina to spare at the trip; moderate record fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (6/1 +57%) Ferensby |
6/1(+57%) | (11) Ferensby 6/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, fifth of 7 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good, 12/1) 22 days ago. Needs to up her game. RPRs are on the slide, but reason to believe return to 7f/Polytrack combination may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (4.5/1 +44%) Liberty Mountain |
4.5/1(+44%) | (6) Liberty Mountain 4.5/1, Fifth of 7 in handicap (4/1) at Leicester (7f, good) 29 days ago. Usually reliable and likely to be back on her game. Novice win came granted 7f and Polytrack; player on that form and peak 2023 turf efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 -32%) Royal Bliss |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Royal Bliss 33/1, 22/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago, left poorly placed. Tricky assignment from wide draw. More convincing at 6f than 7f so far, albeit she raced too freely on one C&D attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (14/1 +0%) Poweredbylove |
14/1(+0%) | (12) Poweredbylove 14/1, Winner at Chelmsford City in April. Sixth of 9 in handicap at Leicester (6f, good, 14/1) 29 days ago. Others look better treated. 6f Chelmsford maiden winner two runs ago; not a given that she'll appreciate 7f yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (40/1 -21%) Baccarat Baby |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Baccarat Baby 40/1, 40/1, last of 9 in handicap at Leicester (6f, good) 29 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Chance on Chelmsford fourth (1m) in the winter; yet to fire for new stable; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (22/1 -267%) Vinaka |
22/1(-267%) | (9) Vinaka 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving Roger Teal when very good third of 9 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, firm, 33/1) 15 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Can make presence felt if stall 12 doesn't cause too much difficulty. Returned with a close third on handicap/stable debut (6f); saw out 7f okay on previous try. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
VINAKA went agonisingly close on her stable/handicap debut when going down by a head to finish third at Salisbury just over a fortnight ago, her first start since October, and a repeat of that effort can see her go close. Intricate Pillar got off the mark in determined fashion over C&D in December and an opening mark of 70 appears workable. Liberty Mountain ran with credit on all three starts last month and can also make the frame.
ADELA OF CHAMPAGNE is in good hands and took a step forward when second at this course 49 days ago. The drop in trip shouldn't pose an issue, so she's preferred to last-time-out C&D winner Intricate Pillar. Handicap debutant Weydaad is also of interest.
Whichever one of INTRICATE PILLAR and Weydaad is best primed to strike on seasonal/handicap debut may determine the outcome.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 +44%) Haya Taal |
9/1(+44%) | (5) Haya Taal 9/1, Foaled April 28. €9,000 foal, €18,000 yearling, £15,000 2-y-o, Dandy Man colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 9.5f winner Acclafrith and 6f winner Qatari Riyals. Stable has the occasional 2yo winner first time out. |

22/1(+12%) | (2) Between Me And U 22/1, Twice-raced gelding. 9/2, sixth of 8 in maiden at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 37 days ago. Probably one for nurseries. Some ability in two starts over shorter on turf, but plenty more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/1 +25%) Lucy Lockett |
9/1(+25%) | (9) Lucy Lockett 9/1, Foaled February 19. Lightning Spear filly. Dam runner-up at 1¼m in France, out of smart 11f winner Campanillas. Wears hood. Stable has only the occasional winning 2yo newcomer, but worth a market check; hood on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4.5/1(+59%) | (1) Beauty Generation 4.5/1, Foaled April 9. 15,000 gns foal, 18,000 gns yearling, Ulysses colt. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner. One to note on debut. Stable's newcomers often better for a run, but has had a 2yo go in first time this season. |

3.33/1(-104%) | (10) Ventura Empress 3.33/1, Promising fourth of 10 in novice at Lingfield (7f, AW, 2/1) on debut 9 days ago, worn down only late on. Should progress and leading claims. Not beaten far into fourth on her recent Lingfield debut over this trip; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (14/1 -180%) Palazzo Persico |
14/1(-180%) | (6) Palazzo Persico 14/1, Foaled March 3. €15,500 foal, 15,000 gns yearling, Profitable colt. Half-brother to 7f-1¼m winner Love Your Work and 1m/9f winner Ottawa Fire. Dam US 5.5f-6f winner. Winning 2yo newcomers from the yard are very rare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (150/1 -200%) Edenmore Lad |
150/1(-200%) | (4) Edenmore Lad 150/1, Tongue strap on, last of 9 in maiden at Chelmsford City (6f, 22/1) on debut 20 days ago, very green. Beaten a long way into last of nine on his Chelmsford debut this month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VENTURA EMPRESS went off a strong favourite at Lingfield nine days ago and, although she finished fourth on that occasion, she's fancied to get off the mark with that debut experience now under her belt. Another who showed potential on debut was Bigger Than Giga, who finished third at Lingfield over a furlong shorter and looks sure to improve for this extra yardage. Any market confidence behind the unraced Lucy Lockett would be noteworthy.
Not a strong-looking maiden on paper and VENTURA EMPRESS, who showed plenty first time up at Lingfield last week, is fancied to open her account with improvement on the cards providing stall 10 isn't an inconvenience. Bigger Than Giga shaped well at the same meeting and can also progress. Beauty Generation is a newcomer to note.
Bigger Than Giga and VENTURA EMPRESS showed promise in different races on their Lingfield debuts. The latter is just given the nod.

5.5/1(+21%) | (5) Inishfallen 5.5/1, Showed ability when sixth of 13 in minor event at Newbury (6.5f, firm, 16/1) on debut 13 days ago, every chance over 1f out. May do better. Some ability when sixth on Newbury debut; wouldn't need to improve much in order to figure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/1 -29%) Parker's Piece |
11/1(-29%) | (8) Parker's Piece 11/1, Never a threat when fifth of 10 in minor event at Leicester (5f, good, 22/1) on debut 29 days ago. Open to progress upped in trip. Showed promise when fifth on his Leicester debut; likely to come on from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4/1 -14%) Magsood |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Magsood 4/1, Foaled April 14. Too Darn Hot colt. Closely related to useful 1m winner Motawaj and half-brother to 1¼m winner Asraabb. Drawn wide but he's one for shortlist on debut given connections. Pedigree and stable's record with 2yo newcomers makes him one to be interested in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2.5/1 +90%) Daring Legend |
2.5/1(+90%) | (3) Daring Legend 2.5/1, Towards the top of the betting but offered little when eleventh of 12 in maiden (5/1) at Haydock (6f, good) on debut 34 days ago. Beat one home when fancied for Haydock debut; should show more this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/1 +9%) Hurricane Power |
10/1(+9%) | (4) Hurricane Power 10/1, 6/1, might have been amiss when ninth of 10 in maiden at Newbury (6.5f, firm) on debut 3 weeks ago, his rider looking down from 2f out. Clearly thought capable of better. Ran poorly on his Newbury debut, but nicely bred and likely to show more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (100/1 -300%) My Margie |
100/1(-300%) | (11) My Margie 100/1, Looked badly in need of the experience when last of 10 in maiden (10/1) at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) on debut 12 days ago. Well-beaten last of ten on her Goodwood debut 12 days ago; plenty more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 +0%) Merrimack |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Merrimack 14/1, Run best excused when last of 8 in minor event at Nottingham (6.1f, good to firm, 4/1) on debut 13 days ago, unable to sustain effort having been lit up after a slow start. May well do better. Last on his Nottingham debut when sent off second-favourite; market interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (7/1 -133%) Balagh |
7/1(-133%) | (1) Balagh 7/1, Held back by inexperience when fourth of 5 in minor event at Ascot (5f, good, 6/1) on debut 8 weeks ago, considerately handled once held. Well bred and should have more to offer. Looked in need of the experience on his Ascot debut; better can be expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (8.5/1 -6%) Red Troop |
8.5/1(-6%) | (10) Red Troop 8.5/1, Foaled February 17. 70,000 gns yearling, 110,000 gns 2-y-o, Soldier's Call colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful winner up to 6f Wedding Date and winner up to 6f Secret Potion. Dam maiden (stayed 7f). Stable's first 2yo runner of the season; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (22/1 -57%) Cuban Fiesta |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Cuban Fiesta 22/1, Foaled January 8. 11,000 gns foal, 22,000 gns yearling, 65,000 gns 2-y-o, Havana Grey colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 5f winner Miss American Pie. Dam unraced. Worth a market check. Would be a very rare winning 2yo newcomer for the stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (28/1 -211%) Primetime |
28/1(-211%) | (9) Primetime 28/1, Foaled April 26. 40,000 gns foal, €58,000 yearling, Time Test colt. Closely related to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Make Fast and half-brother to 3 winners, including winner up to 1m Cranberry and 9.5f winner Sun Festival. Dam winner up to 1m (2-y-o 5f-7f winner). Stable having a fine season with its 2yos and enough to like on pedigree; watch market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
There are a number of interesting newcomers here, with RED TROOP making slightly more appeal than Magsood, Primetime and Cuban Fiesta. His price rose from 70,000gns to 110,000gns from a yearling to a two-year-old and the booking of William Buick catches the eye. Magsood represents powerful connections and demands respect, while Inishfallen looks best of those with previous racecourse experience.
Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to BALAGH, who was spared a hard race once it was clear he wasn't going to figure on debut at Ascot 8 weeks ago. Andrew Balding's colt should've derived plenty from that and he can get the better of Magsood, who makes plenty of paper appeal for his in-form handler but does have a wide stall to negotiate. Parker's Piece and Cuban Fiesta can battle out minor honours.
This can go to MAGSOOD who is bred to be useful and the stable has a fine record with 2yo newcomers.

1st (3) (4/1 +0%) Shigar |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Shigar 4/1, AW novice winner last summer. Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at this course (7f) 14 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Return to 1m a help. Big player for leading stable. Unexposed 4yo who shaped as though he would appreciate the return to 1m last time; hood on. |

14/1(-133%) | (6) Nasim 14/1, Eyeshields/blinkers on first time, respectable third of 14 in handicap at Southwell (1m) 15 days ago, helped by being held up in strongly-run race. Back to form when third at Southwell last time; each-way claims with William Buick booked. |

3rd (4) (40/1 -100%) Botas |
40/1(-100%) | (4) Botas 40/1, Fair winner in France, including on AW. Betting perhaps the best guide to expectations now setting out for new stable. Six-time winner at up to 1m1f on the Flat in France; market informative on stable debut. |

4th (7) (7/1 -8%) Golden Passport |
7/1(-8%) | (7) Golden Passport 7/1, Lightly-raced winner. Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap (18/1) at Newmarket (7f, good) 39 days ago. Merits consideration back at 1m. Our of the frame in both handicaps, but return to this trip may suit; worth a second look. |

5th (5) (8/1 +27%) Uzincso |
8/1(+27%) | (5) Uzincso 8/1, Six-time C&D winner. Off 4 months, respectable fifth of 14 over C&D 14 days ago. On a winning mark if able to build on that. Six wins over C&D, but has only landed one of his last 22 starts; others more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (10/1 +50%) Maid In London |
10/1(+50%) | (10) Maid In London 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. Won novice at Wolverhampton in April but hasn't beaten a rival in 2 handicaps subsequently. Bounce back needed. Twice poor on turf since winning at Wolverhampton; return to AW may help, but risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/1 -13%) Windseeker |
9/1(-13%) | (1) Windseeker 9/1, Respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (7f) when last seen in March. Should be competitive if fully primed after 119 days off. Can go well fresh and has run well over this far, but 7f may be his ideal trip. |

8th (9) (7/1 +36%) Elwasme |
7/1(+36%) | (9) Elwasme 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/2, bit below form eighth of 15 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to soft) 70 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Visor on first time. Improvement will be needed. Promise in first three starts, but made a modest handicap debut; visor on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (4.5/1 +31%) Covert Legend |
4.5/1(+31%) | (11) Covert Legend 4.5/1, Fair maiden. 5/1, creditable third of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 9 days ago. Another who can't be discounted. 0-5 but has shown ability; will need to settle better than last time if he is to figure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (6.5/1 -86%) Lisboa |
6.5/1(-86%) | (8) Lisboa 6.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 9/1, fifth of 10 in novice at Salisbury (7f, firm) on reappearance 15 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Open to improvement for leading stable. Up a furlong for handicap/AW debut; bred to be better than he has shown; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Covert Legend ran a blinder at Wolverhampton last time and has an obvious chance lining up off the same mark, but it could pay to side with SHIGAR. William Haggas' charge has improved with each start so far this year and the application of a first-time hood could potentially unlock another gear. Golden Passport also merits consideration with his sights lowered.
SHIGAR will be suited by the return to 1m and can strike for William Haggas. Golden Passport and Lisboa are unexposed 3-y-os who may have more to offer and head the dangers along with course specialist Uzincso.
The vote goes to LISBOA who steps up a furlong for his handicap/AW debut and is bred to be better than he has shown so far.

8/1(-45%) | (3) Sandy Paradise 8/1, Returned to all-weather and soon back to form when winning 12-runner handicap (15/2) at this course (7f) 21 days ago, well on top finish. Leading contender. Dual C&D winner who scored over 7f here last time; 5lb higher, but one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5.5/1 -22%) Tahitian Prince |
5.5/1(-22%) | (2) Tahitian Prince 5.5/1, Three-time C&D winner. 11/2, not discredited when fifth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 35 days ago, looking worth a try over a further. Lurks on a dangerous mark. Triple C&D winner now 6lb below his last winning mark; showed more here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (4.5/1 +18%) Molly Valentine |
4.5/1(+18%) | (9) Molly Valentine 4.5/1, Much improved when off the mark at Nottingham in April and backed up that effort when third of 11 in handicap (18/1) at this C&D 21 days ago. Can give another good account. Dual winner who ran well to finish third over C&D last time; respected off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (40/1 -43%) Whitcombe Rockstar |
40/1(-43%) | (6) Whitcombe Rockstar 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, well-beaten seventh of 12 in maiden at Chepstow (10f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Much more needed as he goes handicapping with tongue strap on 1st time. Some promise on debut for another yard, but twice well held since returning; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (8/1 +0%) Bauhinia Rhapsody |
8/1(+0%) | (10) Bauhinia Rhapsody 8/1, After further 8 weeks off, never a threat when ninth of 11 on handicap debut at Doncaster (1m, good to firm) 25 days ago. Could still have more to offer back on all-weather (placed over C&D last year). Placed in two Polytrack novices last autumn; frame material if return to AW revives him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (3.33/1 +26%) Garrick Painter |
3.33/1(+26%) | (7) Garrick Painter 3.33/1, Opened account at this C&D in February. Not in the same form in handicaps both starts since, fourth of 10 at Southwell (8.1f, 13/2) 15 days ago. However, could get back on track returned to this venue. Easily won a C&D novice in February and had excuses last time; considered back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (66/1 -450%) Dance At Night |
66/1(-450%) | (5) Dance At Night 66/1, Fairly useful performer on Flat for Andrew Balding, winning here (7f) early last year. Has raced only over hurdles for current yard, falling in handicap at Southwell (15.8f, good to soft, 22/1) 22 days ago. Novice winner here who returns to the Flat after not convincing over hurdles; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (33/1 -106%) George Morland |
33/1(-106%) | (4) George Morland 33/1, Failed to come on for recent run when last of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm, 17/2) 20 days ago. Needs to step up on what he's shown so far this year with cheekpieces now reapplied. 2lb below last winning mark, but hasn't been shaping as though ready to take advantage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (14/1 -17%) Dembe |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Dembe 14/1, Course winner. 16/1, seventh of 14 in handicap at this C&D 35 days ago, late headway. Could fare better having now dropped below his last winning mark. 1lb below last winning mark, but a suspicion that further suits him better now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SANDY PARADISE produced a career-best performance when returned to the all-weather over 7f here last time, scoring with a bit in hand, and a 5lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Oliver Show wears a first-time tongue-tie on his handicap debut and makes plenty of appeal, while Molly Valentine shouldn't be too far away either.
Returned to the all-weather, SANDY PARADISE was well on top at the finish when recording a third course success here (first at 7f) 3 weeks ago and he can score again back up in trip. Garrick Painter won easily at this C&D in February and is feared most back at this venue, with Molly Valentine completing the shortlist.
The vote goes to MOLLY VALENTINE (nap) who ran well when third over C&D recently (fifth has won since) and races off the same mark.

1st (3) (7/1 +13%) Graignes |
7/1(+13%) | (3) Graignes 7/1, Well handicapped on the form of his 2 wins in France in 2021 and was given a considerate return when fourth of 9 in handicap at Windsor (10f, heavy) in May. One to note if market speaks favourably. Ex-French 7yo; no impact for current yard and he needs to find more back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 +46%) Wild Hurricane |
3.5/1(+46%) | (4) Wild Hurricane 3.5/1, Hasn't looked the easiest of rides in novice/maiden company so far, most recently when fifth of 12 (14/1) at Chepstow (10f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Makes handicap debut with hood on. Well-bred gelding who looks a possible improver with hood added on his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (11/1 +8%) Down To The Kid |
11/1(+8%) | (8) Down To The Kid 11/1, Gained third C&D success at Southwell in March. 11/2, good second of 12 in handicap there (12.1f) 15 days ago, edged out near line having been well positioned. Leading player again. Went close at Southwell and has claims if he can transfer that form back to Polytrack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (10/1 +17%) Waterloo Sunset |
10/1(+17%) | (10) Waterloo Sunset 10/1, Lightly raced for age but has been in decent heart of late, second of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW) 22 days ago. Can give another good account. Went close at Lingfield last time and he should give it another good shot back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (2.5/1 +58%) Chips And Rice |
2.5/1(+58%) | (5) Chips And Rice 2.5/1, Made winning start for this yard when scoring on return at Lingfield and showed improved form behind a pair of unexposed 3yos at Ascot on next start. Should give another good account from same mark. Win (AW) and good third (turf) in last two starts and she still has potential; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 -33%) Silastar |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Silastar 4/1, Improved to win at Leicester (10f, heavy) in April before taking another step forward to follow up in 12-runner handicap at Sandown (10f, good) 34 days ago, well on top finish. Should have enough in hand to cope with 5 lb rise. Has raised his form to a new level recently and he's strongly respected in hat-trick bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (12/1 +0%) Fascinating Lips |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Fascinating Lips 12/1, Won Lingfield seller last summer before a pair of good placed efforts. Absent since making successful transition to hurdling in 4-runner novice hurdle (15/8) at Fontwell (17.7f, good) on NH debut but would merit respect if fully tuned up back on the Flat. Returns from 271 days off and this is competitive back on the Flat; has some work to do. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (50/1 -25%) Caribou |
50/1(-25%) | (9) Caribou 50/1, Shaped as if better for run when fourth of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm, 10/1) 43 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Tongue strap back on. Both wins have come at sprint trips, so has to prove he stays this far. Both wins came as a 2yo in 2020 and has been well held in four runs for his current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (25/1 -108%) Lafan |
25/1(-108%) | (7) Lafan 25/1, Dual course winner also scored at Wolverhampton in April. Seemed to find an 8 lb rise in the weights beyond him when third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 55 days ago. Steps back up in trip. In-form 5yo but this is a step back up in grade and he's untried at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (33/1 -106%) Monteria |
33/1(-106%) | (1) Monteria 33/1, 1 win from 3 runs this year. Winner at Windsor in May but finished down the field in similar event there (11.4f, good to soft) 16 days ago. Widest draw will make life difficult. Won at Windsor (1m2f, soft) last month but was disappointing there (11.4f, good) last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Wild Hurricane is an interesting contender in a handicap for the first time for the Saeed bin Suroor stable, and could find improvement for the application of a hood. However, SILASTAR is the way to go, as he went in by just under two lengths on his latest outing at Sandown and should be able to defy the 5lb rise in the weights to record a treble. Chips And Rice is another to consider.
SILASTAR is an improved model this season and looks capable of completing the hat-trick after recent wins at Leicester and Sandown. Chips And Rice has ran well on both of her outings for James Fanshawe, latterly when chasing home an unexposed pair of 3-y-os, and is feared most, with Down To The Kid taken to complete the placings.
An open race in which James Fanshawe's CHIPS AND RICE gets the vote ahead of the hat-trick seeker Silastar.

1st (1) (2.5/1 +38%) Devizes |
2.5/1(+38%) | (1) Devizes 2.5/1, Course winner. Latest win here in April. Respectable third of 12 in handicap at this C&D (13/2) 14 days ago. Merits consideration. About 1l behind La Belle Vie when third over C&D latest; not on a winning mark just now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/1 +60%) Abraaj |
10/1(+60%) | (4) Abraaj 10/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good, 33/1) 57 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Blinkered for 1st time with more needed. Easiest task away from turf to date, but still operating below a winning mark of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (28/1 -75%) Tying The Knot |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Tying The Knot 28/1, 33/1, first run since leaving Alan King when ninth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Cheekpieces refitted and needs to bounce back. Hurdles winner over 2m in the winter, but same trip stretches him a bit on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4.5/1 +55%) Dirham Emirati |
4.5/1(+55%) | (3) Dirham Emirati 4.5/1, Last of 11 in handicap (33/1) at this C&D 21 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time with work to do. Struggling to beat (m)any home this year; down in class but couldn't be too confident. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (66/1 +0%) Divination |
66/1(+0%) | (10) Divination 66/1, 125/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 13 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Mixed signals thus far as to whether he stays 1m4f, so extra 4f here not an obvious plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (3/1 -9%) La Belle Vie |
3/1(-9%) | (11) La Belle Vie 3/1, Creditable second of 12 in handicap (8/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs, however. Beat three of these when C&D neck second latest; going to get there in time one day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (14/1 -75%) Tradesman |
14/1(-75%) | (9) Tradesman 14/1, 10/1 and blinkered for 1st time, fifth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) 20 days ago, left poorly placed. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Needs considering. Didn't convince over 2m penultimate; back to form last time, yet dropped 3lb since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (6.5/1 -30%) Sociologist |
6.5/1(-30%) | (12) Sociologist 6.5/1, Arrives in very good nick, third of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f, 22/1) 23 days ago. Expected to be bang there off an easing mark. Effective on surface and consistent of late, but feeling remains he's better over shorter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -32%) Creationist |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Creationist 33/1, Course winner. 18/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (14.1f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Twenty four runs since last win in 2019. Mark never lower and few opportunities at marathon trips, but has lost last 24 Flat starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (33/1 -175%) Hopeforthebest |
33/1(-175%) | (7) Hopeforthebest 33/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in April. Eighth of 12 in handicap (33/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Others more persuasive. Wolverhampton 9.5f winner last month; wouldn't settle behind two of these over C&D latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (10/1 -43%) Livalot |
10/1(-43%) | (2) Livalot 10/1, Creditable fifth of 10 in handicap at this course (11f, 17/2) 14 days ago, never nearer. Significantly up in trip. Can give a good account. Staying-on fifth on recent comeback run here (1m3f); not bred for 2m but worth a go at it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (66/1 +0%) Broadshare |
66/1(+0%) | (13) Broadshare 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 125/1, fourteenth of 15 in minor event at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 9 days ago, slowly away. Significantly up in trip. Blinkered for his handicap debut with plenty more required. Beaten 37l or more in all four starts at up to 1m3f, and miles out of the handicap here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
La Belle Vie (second) had Devizes (third) behind when only denied by a neck over C&D earlier in the month, and she is likely to have her supporters as she only competes off a 1lb higher mark. However, the vote goes to TRADESMAN, who continues to drop in the weights and showed some more life last time at Chelmsford when only beaten under five lengths into fifth. He could improve for first-time cheekpieces.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and SOCIOLOGIST is fancied to gain a deserved success on the back of a string of good efforts. Course scorer Devizes could emerge as the main danger ahead of in-form pair Tradesman and Livalot.
Not bred for 1m3f-1m4f, LIVALOT might even appreciate further than that now. She may have most to fear from La Belle Vie.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
