13:35 Kelso Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LANCE LES DES made a pleasing start to life over hurdles when finishing a close-up third in a similar event at Perth in May and, with that experience under his belt, it would be no surprise if he were able to go two places better this time around. Lucinda Russell appears to hold a strong hand, and Bold Light may prove the pick of her duo returning after two admirable placed efforts over hurdles in the spring. Stable companion Tommys Law is also respected.

Those with experience don't set the bar all that high, so a chance is taken on HIGH DANCER, a £95,000 purchase after winning his third start in Irish points in May. There's little to seperate the Lucinda Russell-trained pair Tommys Law and Bold Light on form and they are obvious threats.

Point winner HIGH DANCER may be up to making a successful rules debut, with Bold Light perhaps the main threat.

14:10 Kelso Handicap Chase (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SIMILAR STORY caught the eye when finishing second over 2m4f in a Hexham handicap hurdle on her return to the track earlier this month, conceding first run to the winner before staying on well. Stepping back up in trip on her chasing debut, this point-to-point winner gets the vote to land the spoils. The largely consistent Raceview Road had excuses for his recent low-key effort over C&D, and he commands respect off the same mark, while recent Downpatrick winner Edgewell must enter calculations too.

A winning Irish pointer, SIMILAR STORY showed improved form over hurdles when second at Hexham on her return, so she could be ready to open her Rules account with her yard going well ahead of her chasing debut. Edgewell isn't taken lightly after winning in good style at Downpatrick 15 days ago, with Raceview Road also considered.

A chance is taken on the fitness of RACEVIEW ROAD, who made a good start to his chasing career here in the spring.

14:45 Kelso Handicap Chase (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Point-to-point winner JUST GINO shaped better than the bare result suggests when finishing fourth over 2m at Warwick on his seasonal reappearance earlier this month and, making his handicap/chase debut on his second start after wind surgery, this might be the time to catch him. A distant second over 3m on his handicap hurdle debut last month, Walk On Quest warrants respect dropping in trip and tackling a fence, while Flash Du Pistolet is also noteworthy.

There were positives to take from WALK ON QUEST's reappearance second in a handicap hurdle at Perth and he appeals as the type to make up into a better chaser. That remark also applies to Just Gino, who is second choice ahead of Okavango Delta and Kingofthegame.

The suggestion is OKAVANGO DELTA, who ran well when fourth on slower-than-ideal ground on his recent stable debut.

15:20 Kelso Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THEIRSHEGOES was an encouraging third over 2m5f at this venue earlier in the month and the drop back in trip could spark a return to winning ways. Heart Above has to be of interest following his Perth success a month ago, although a 6lb rise will make his life tougher. Others to note are Foster's Fortune, Jumping Jupiter and Dog Fox.

Plenty have claims in this wide-open handicap and a chance is taken on HEART ABOVE to follow up on his recent Perth win. Opposition isn’t in short supply and if Dog Fox can eliminate the mistakes he’ll go close, with Ballyfort likely to improve for the switch to a big field handicap.

The safest choice is FOSTER'S FORTUNE who is progressive and looks straightforward, with Theirshegoes the main danger.

(7) Watergrange Jack 12/1, Racked up a handicap hurdle hat-trick at the end of last summer and jumped better than usual when off the mark over fences at Worcester (20f) last month. However, got no further than the first at Perth last time and is yet to fully convince over this sort of trip.
Worcester winner before unseating early next time; should have a fitness edge.

15:55 Kelso Handicap Chase (Class 2) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A 10lb rise for La Renommee's impressive success at Ludlow recently has to be a slight concern. As a result, preference is for APPLE AWAY, who ended last season with a Listed success at Perth in April and a mark of 142 should be workable for this former Grade 1-winning hurdler. Young Buster hit the crossbar on his most recent outing at Aintree in May and is another to consider on his return.

Preference is for YOUNG BUSTER, who is lightly raced for his age and has yet to taste defeat at this course. Apple Away and La Renommee rate the principal dangers in what looks a cracking contest.

The big names may either need this or want softer ground. The one who should give his running is dual course winner YOUNG BUSTER (nap).

Ran at least as well in defeat when runner-up at Wetherby (15.2f, good to soft) 10 days ago and no surprise should he regain the winning thread.

Makes return/yard debut after 5 months off and percentage call is to look elsewhere despite a tumbling mark.
Out of form when last seen but handicapped for leading role if back on track on yard debut.

Sure to be popular but a 10 lb rise makes his task much harder.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CANNOCK PARK appeared to need his return effort on his first attempt over fences at Hexham a fortnight ago. The five-year-old had jumped well in the main before getting tired and the drop back in trip is also likely to benefit him. Pay The Piper is a model of consistency who scored over C&D on his penultimate start and is capable of being in the mix along with recent Killarney winner Jack Holiday.

PAY THE PIPER made a winning return over C&D last month and having matched that form in defeat at Wetherby subsequently, Ann Hamilton's 9-y-o is fancied to regain the winning thread at the expense of Irish-raider Jack Holiday, who bolted up at Killarney earlier this month and has been hit with a hefty 10 lb rise. Front-runner El Borracho has become potentially very well handicapped, so he rounds off the shortlist.

Topweight PAY THE PIPER has been in good form this autumn and is taken to add to last month's C&D win. Jack Holiday is a danger.

17:05 Kelso Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ARTIC MANN was consistently running well last season before winning at Perth in May and a 3lb rise is unlikely to inconvenience the 10-year-old in what appears to be a winnable contest on paper. You Some Girl placed at Downpatrick earlier in the month and she is of interest stepping up in trip. Others for the shortlist include Lights Are Green and Wearelongterm.

ARCTIC MANN was the picture of consistency last season and finally got a deserved win in May. Other than the break, he’s got far less questions to answer than most of his opponents, though Return Fire is interesting returned to hurdles and Maura Jeanne isn’t without a chance of making it 20th time lucky today.

The two against the field are GUERNESEY and Return Fire, who both ran well when fresh at around this time last year.
