1st (1) (10/3 -48%) Eagle Of The Glen |
10/3(-48%) | (1) Eagle Of The Glen 10/3, Well backed and showed much improved form to get off the mark in 9-runner juvenile hurdle (13/2) at Hexham (16.2f, soft) in April, edging ahead run-in and ridden out. Ought to go well under a penalty. Game Hexham winner and the third has since won a handicap (useful RPR of 120). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (150/1 -650%) Jean Danjou |
150/1(-650%) | (3) Jean Danjou 150/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) who failed to meet expectations back from 5 months off when last of 6 in a Windsor handicap (10f) in May. Acquired by new yard for 9,500 gns thereafter and needs monitoring in the market for clues ahead of hurdle bow. Regressive Flat maiden bought for 9,500gns this July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (150/1 -355%) Solid As A Rock |
150/1(-355%) | (5) Solid As A Rock 150/1, Showed only poor form in bumpers so not hard to look elsewhere on hurdle debut. Bumper form was nothing to shout about, with her latest third a remote last. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (1/4 +70%) Norman Fletcher |
1/4(+70%) | (4) Norman Fletcher 1/4, Made it 2 wins from 4 starts in bumpers with an improved effort at Ludlow in April, leading on bridle entering straight and sealing it in a matter of strides. Stable in red-hot form and makes obvious appeal on hurdle debut. Dual bumper winner who goes hurdling with his yard in cracking form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (2) (14/1 -155%) Largy Ray |
14/1(-155%) | (2) Largy Ray 14/1, Found improvement back from a 5-month absence in a first-time tongue strap when winning Kilbeggan bumper in August. Since joined new yard and could be a player on switch to hurdling. In a first-time tongue-tie when winning a soft-ground bumper at Kilbeggan; new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An impressive winner when last seen in a bumper at Ludlow in April, NORMAN FLETCHER could be a nice prospect in the making for the Nigel Twiston-Davies team as he makes his hurdles debut. Conditions look to be in his favour and he could have too much for Hexham scorer Eagle Of The Glen, who has a 7lb penalty to overcome. Largy Ray is another to consider on his first run for new connections after winning at Kilbeggan in August.
EAGLE OF THE GLEN saw the form of his Hexham win franked by the third when that one came out and made a successful handicap debut in good style at Kelso recently, so he's taken to defy a penalty at the expense of Norman Fletcher, who struck twice in bumpers last season and seems sure to win his fair share of races over hurdles.
The only runner with the benefit of hurdling experience is EAGLE OF THE GLEN and he beat a decent horse at Hexham.

1st (5) (10/3 +39%) Tedwin Hills |
10/3(+39%) | (5) Tedwin Hills 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles who made a decent start over fences when second in handicap at Southwell, clear of rest. Similar form when 2¾ lengths third of 9 to Great D'ange at Market Rasen since. Remains unexposed in this sphere. Looks handicapped about right but should be competitive in his current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 +15%) Great D'Ange |
11/2(+15%) | (2) Great D'Ange 11/2, Back to winning ways in handicap chase at Huntingdon in December (23.6f, good to soft). Disappointed after (sold from Tom George only £2,500 in August) but immediately sprung back to life for a new yard after 3 months off when scoring off reduced mark at Market Rasen 17 days ago. Must be respected. Change of scenery must have done him good after his return to winning ways at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 -100%) Largy Nights |
22/1(-100%) | (7) Largy Nights 22/1, Showed improved form with cheekpieces added when making his second chase start a winning one in handicap at Stratford. Runner-up first 2 starts last season but pulled up lame next time and off since (8 months). 3m3f winner but fine over this far and has gone well fresh in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 +0%) Young Wolf |
16/1(+0%) | (4) Young Wolf 16/1, Multiple hurdles/chase winner who has dropped a long way in the weights and confirmed previous promise when winning weak event at Market Rasen in the summer. Down the field both starts since, however. Third to Great D'Ange latest; an easy lead would help but that's not guaranteed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (9/1 +25%) Doireann |
9/1(+25%) | (10) Doireann 9/1, Runner-up in 2 handicap hurdles at Fakenham over this trip last winter but little impact since, including on chase bow. Below par when last seen and she jumped moderately on her previous chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -27%) Another Mystery |
14/1(-27%) | (6) Another Mystery 14/1, Back to form when winning last 2 starts over hurdles (subsequently sold from Lucy Wadham 15,000 gns). Not disgraced back over fences at Market Rasen on yard debut after a break 17 days ago and entitled to come on for that. Made it 0-5 over fences with a lacklustre effort behind Great D'Ange at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (10/1 +17%) The Wise Traveller |
10/1(+17%) | (8) The Wise Traveller 10/1, Won a 25f course handicap hurdle in February. Ended his time with Charlie Longsdon (sold £9,000 in August) with a below-form third of 4 at Fontwell in April and now reverts to fences for new stable after 6 months off. Stable debut; has won over hurdles here but previous chase attempts did not go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (10/1 -432%) No Anxiety |
10/1(-432%) | (1) No Anxiety 10/1, Doubled his tally over fences when landing a 3-runner Hereford handicap (25.2f) back from a break in October 2021. Struggled with his jumping next 3 starts, including back over hurdles after 20 months off at Bangor in August. However, given a big chance by the handicapper back over fences. Well handicapped if as good as he was but current wellbeing is a major issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (11/4 +66%) Honneur De Sivola |
11/4(+66%) | (9) Honneur De Sivola 11/4, Runner-up 4 of his 6 starts switched to fences this season, including over C&D last week, but more needed to go one better. Could do with a break, having bumped into horses ahead of their marks the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (16/1 -14%) Midnight Glance |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Midnight Glance 16/1, Chase winner last winter but offered little back hurdling both starts this summer. Hard to be confident after that. Hurdle/chase winner; below par over smaller obstacles this summer; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LARGY NIGHTS may be very light raced for his age, but he certainly has ability and the form of his penultimate second over C&D last December bodes well in this context. Charlie Longsdon's charge has gone well fresh in the past and he is narrowly preferred to Great D'Ange, who had Tedwin Hills (third) less than three lengths behind when scoring at Market Rasen last month. The Wise Traveller hasn't shown much in two starts over fences, but his form over the smaller obstacles entitles him to the utmost respect.
NO ANXIETY was presumably having a pipe-opener back over hurdles after 20 months off at Bangor in August and is potentially very well handicapped if overcoming his jumping problems (now 15 lb below last winning mark). Great d'Ange and Another Mystery both made a positive start for their new yards so are feared most.
A few with chances but HONNEUR DE SIVOLA (nap) has been unfortunate to bump into rivals well ahead of their marks the last twice.

1st (1) (8/11 +12%) Kay Tara Tara |
8/11(+12%) | (1) Kay Tara Tara 8/11, Looked potentially useful when readily making a winning debut on Lingfield's AW in December. Good second at Ascot subsequently before struggling in the Nickel Coin at Aintree. Should have a future in this sphere and clearly of interest first time up. Useful bumper form last season and she's bred to make a nice hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 -22%) Strong Belle |
11/4(-22%) | (2) Strong Belle 11/4, Promising 2¼ lengths third in listed bumper here on debut in December but didn't kick on. Returns for first crack over hurdles with her yard in red-hot form and no surprise to see her go well. Best of her four bumper runs was here on debut; bred to go on to better things. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 -64%) Noonie |
18/1(-64%) | (4) Noonie 18/1, Fair 1m4f Flat maiden for Ed Bethell. Yet to reach that level over hurdles, failing to see her race out when fourth of 9 on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (15.8f) in June, and tricky to fancy on these terms. Cheekpieces on first time over jumps. Flat maiden; four defeats over hurdles for this yard have earned her a low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/2 +21%) Lean On Me |
11/2(+21%) | (3) Lean On Me 11/2, £12,000 buy closely related to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Edmund Kean (17f-3m winner) and useful 2½m hurdle winner Brave Vic (both by Old Vic). 3m point winner in May and should have a future. The horse he beat in a British point earlier this year is now 0-9 in that scene. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KAY TARA TARA may have been well beaten when last seen contesting a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April, but the fact she was thought good enough to compete at that level says a lot. The daughter of Kayf Tara sets a decent standard on form, and it may be that the more experienced Noonie gives her the most to think about after four starts in this sphere. Strong Belle has the potential to improve for the step up in trip and cannot be ruled out.
Bumper-winner KAY TARA TARA looks the one to be with first time up. She made a successful start last December and promises to be suited by this stiffer test now hurdling. Strong Belle, who also ran well fresh in bumpers, and point-winner Lean On Me should have futures over jumps and make this an interesting maiden despite the numbers.
This looks a good opportunity for KAY TARA TARA to hit the ground running over hurdles.

1st (1) (13/8 +19%) Gold Link |
13/8(+19%) | (1) Gold Link 13/8, Scored at Stratford in July and has continued in very good form, third of 10 in handicap chase at Warwick (20f, good) 22 days ago. Big shout off an unchanged mark. Current mark is looking challenging but this is not a strong handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 +10%) Enemenemynemo |
3/1(+10%) | (3) Enemenemynemo 3/1, Took his form up a notch when getting off the mark in 4-runner handicap chase at Perth (2½m) in July. Posted a respectable third at Newton Abbot (21f) later that month. Freshened up since and needs considering. Low-mileage 8yo who is becoming hard to trust but this is his ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/8 +1%) Boom Boom |
13/8(+1%) | (4) Boom Boom 13/8, Got off the mark in 2m maiden hurdle at Wincanton in April but he was pulled up on his handicap debut at Worcester following month. Goes chasing after a break with more required but he's in excellent hands. Won a maiden hurdle before flopping in a handicap; bred to make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (16/1 -167%) Belvedere Blast |
16/1(-167%) | (2) Belvedere Blast 16/1, Clicked in blinkers this summer, completing a hat-trick at Hexham in June. His form has nosedived since though so he has something to prove now going over fences. Three hurdle wins in June; now high in the weights and he's not bred for chasing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Boom Boom was too bad to be true when pulling up on his handicap debut at Worcester in May and Nicky Henderson's charge may prove more competitive on his chase bow after a 162-day break. However, GOLD LINK makes slightly more appeal given his experience over fences. The seven-year-old has remained in good heart since scoring off 7lb lower at Stratford in July and may take some stopping if continuing in the same vein of form. Enemenemynemo could prove dangerous if allowed an easy lead and completes the shortlist.
GOLD LINK has made a positive start to life over fences and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to add to his Stratford summer success. Perth-scorer Enemenemynemo could emerge as the chief threat after a break, although Nicky Henderson's chasing newcomer Boom Boom could also have a say on his return.
Nicky Henderson's BOOM BOOM might be the answer if he takes to fences, which he should do if his breeding is anything to go by.

1st (2) (9/4 +18%) Enthused |
9/4(+18%) | (2) Enthused 9/4, Another from his stable who has thrived this year, his Ludlow win number 4 of the campaign last week, always holding on. Unpenalised for that so claims are fairly obvious. Beat a frustrating sort last week at Ludlow but he escapes a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 +10%) Postmark |
9/2(+10%) | (4) Postmark 9/2, Useful winner on the Flat and left low-key hurdles debut a long way behind when cosily landing a 4-runner Newbury maiden hurdles in February. Disappointing in both codes since and cheekpieces now added. Decent on the Flat; hasn't progressed as hoped over hurdles since his Newbury win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +63%) Parc D'Amour |
6/4(+63%) | (3) Parc D'Amour 6/4, Bumper winner who fitted with a hood, failed to justify when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at this C&D in May. Given a break and really should be a factor at this level. Has run well in both handicaps and has races in him off this 3lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -9%) Graffiti |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Graffiti 12/1, Off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt in a 7-runner Fontwell juvenile last August. In good form on the Flat this summer but safely held back hurdling over C&D in July and unseated rider when backed over fences last time. Fifth over hurdles before running well for a long way on chase debut; possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 +25%) Aristobulus |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Aristobulus 12/1, Made a successful stable debut on AW Flat in January and in the frame all 4 completed starts over hurdles since. Big price and no impact on recent Flat return but that will have blown away the cobwebs. Keen-goer over hurdles and was beaten when falling on his final attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 -243%) Appreciate |
12/1(-243%) | (5) Appreciate 12/1, Completed a 4-timer in summer of 2022 and added to his tally at Cartmel (17.2f) in May. Disappointing effort over 20f final start for Milton Harris last month but he's joined a top yard and is back in trip. Strike-rate of 6-18 over hurdles for Milton Harris; interesting now with Dan Skelton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ENTHUSED escapes a penalty for landing a conditional jockeys' event at Ludlow on Wednesday and the gelded son of Zoffany is fancied to land a quick-fire double off the same rating here. Parc D'amour likely has races in him off his current rating and merits respect for the in-form Kim Bailey yard. The six-year-old may give the selection most to think about, ahead of John Betjeman, who finished a respectable fifth on the Flat at Bath last month.
An interesting race for the field size with ENTHUSED the percentage call given he escapes a penalty for last week's conditionals event win at Ludlow. Parc d'Amour should be on the premises on return, with Appreciate one to monitor in the market starting out for a new yard.
Kim Bailey's PARC D'AMOUR returns from a break with his yard having winners and this 6yo is open to improvement.

1st (2) (7/1 +36%) No Risk With Lou |
7/1(+36%) | (2) No Risk With Lou 7/1, Winning pointer who was fortunate (left clear last) when making a successful hurdling debut at Southwell (2m) last November. Bit disappointing that he hasn't kicked on from that over hurdles but that point background provides hope now chasing after a break. Never progressed over hurdles after maiden win but chasing could be the making of him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/4 +13%) Great Samourai |
7/4(+13%) | (3) Great Samourai 7/4, £130,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field who showed fair form in maiden hurdles in the spring. Appeals as one who could go on to better things for his top yard now handicap chasing. Market confidence significant. Trainer evidently keen to get him over fences for this handicap debut; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 -100%) Finalshot |
10/1(-100%) | (6) Finalshot 10/1, Back to winning ways in a first-time tongue tie (retained) when seeing off 8 rivals at Hexham (2m, good) 6 weeks ago. Had Magic Mike behind him in third on that occasion and meets him on identical terms this afternoon. Recent Hexham winner in first-time tongue-tie; profile is very up and down. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (4/1 +11%) Magic Mike |
4/1(+11%) | (7) Magic Mike 4/1, Dual 2m hurdles winner in the spring who has taken well to fences, building on his third to Finalshot at Hexham on his first attempt when winning at Southwell (2m, good to soft) 14 days ago. Still looks fairly treated after a 5 lb rise. Didn't jump great when winning at Southwell; the runner-up was even worse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -20%) Dino Velvet |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Dino Velvet 12/1, Just fair nowadays and didn't really threaten to end his losing run when third in a couple of handicap chases in May (including C&D). Could be sharper for a recent Flat run but others are still preferred. Only 1-16 as a chaser and wasn't in much form over fences earlier this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (4/1 +33%) Erigmoor |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Erigmoor 4/1, Second on 2m handicap hurdle debut and probably failed to stay an extended 2½m when below that form at Market Rasen 4 weeks later. Drops back in trip for this chase debut/reappearance. Lightly raced 5yo who is probably on a workable mark should he take to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -38%) Master Malachy |
11/1(-38%) | (1) Master Malachy 11/1, Dual winner over hurdles who improved for the switch to fences when scoring at Bangor and Sedgefield at the end of last summer. Disappointing on 4 starts since but has had wind surgery since last seen in August and dangerous if scaling a revival. Needs to get back on track but has had a wind op and he's a dual chase winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Last month's Hexham winner Finalshot only went up 4lb for that success and the veteran should give another good account of himself. Magic Mike was behind in third that day and franked the form when subsequently triumphing at Southwell. The pair, however, are taking on with GREAT SAMOURAI. The selection is making his chase/handicap debut off what looks a fair mark and the six-year-old may take this en route to better things for the Dan Skelton team.
Although MAGIC MIKE was behind Finalshot at Hexham that was Paul Robson's charge's first attempt over fences and he improved on that when scoring at Southwell since so he might be able to turn the tables on his old rival this afternoon. A market move for Dan Skelton chase newcomer Great Samourai on his reappearance would make him a potential big threat to that pair.
Some respected chase debutants make this a dangerous betting heat but MASTER MALACHY could be the answer after wind surgery.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
