1st (1) (9/1 -20%) Rostello |
9/1(-20%) | (1) Rostello 9/1, Won twice over fences last season but prone to mistakes over both sets of obstacles and not in top form over timber in the summer. Unreliable sort. A dual chase winner at around 3m last term but an unreliable type; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (16/5 +73%) Gibberwell |
16/5(+73%) | (9) Gibberwell 16/5, Got off the mark over fences over C&D in April but he was pulled up in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f, soft) on his return last month. More needed in a change of headgear. C&D winner; pulled up on reappearance at Uttoxeter so lots more is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +0%) Gipsy Lee Rose |
7/2(+0%) | (6) Gipsy Lee Rose 7/2, C&D winner who looked rusty after 6 months off when fifth of 7 in handicap chase here (20.1f, heavy) 27 days ago. Visor back on now and she's a player off a 2 lb lower mark. Fading fifth on her seasonal return here; this C&D winner merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (14/1 +30%) The Electrician |
14/1(+30%) | (5) The Electrician 14/1, A course winner but he's an unreliable type and came in only seventh of 9 in handicap chase at Cartmel (21.2f, good to soft) 133 days ago on his final run for R. Mike Smith. Yard switch needs to spark a resurgence. Course winner but well below par on final two starts for Mike Smith in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6/1 -80%) Kildrum |
6/1(-80%) | (7) Kildrum 6/1, Gained his third C&D win in 4-runner handicap chase in May, though he was left in front 2 out. Usual cheekpieces replace visor on his return. Shortlisted. Gained a third C&D win in May (left clear two out); consistent and he needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (13/2 +59%) Kaphumor |
13/2(+59%) | (8) Kaphumor 13/2, Took this in 2021 but winless since and came in a remote third of 5 in handicap chase here (20.1f, heavy) 35 days ago. Needs to build on it now. Captured this prize in 2021 but seems not so good nowadays; others are more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (15/2 -88%) Wavelength |
15/2(-88%) | (2) Wavelength 15/2, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Got off the mark for his new yard in handicap chase over C&D 18 months ago but off the track since. Handily weighted if tuned up for his comeback run. Won over C&D 18 months ago; needs to hit the ground running on his comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (15/2 +38%) Deep Charm |
15/2(+38%) | (4) Deep Charm 15/2, C&D winner but he ended last term below par, behind when fell 11th in handicap chase at Ayr (20.5f, good to soft) 8 months ago. Others appeal more. C&D winner in 2021 but he didn't offer much last term; lots more is required. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Race-fitness may be at a premium here and if that is the case, a chance can be taken on GIPSY LEE ROSE, who was beaten less than seven lengths on her return last month over an inadequate trip. A C&D winner in April 2022 off 6lb higher, she should handle the going and may have the edge for the trainer who won this in 2020. Her stable companion, Wavelength, is one to watch as a fellow C&D winner, but he hasn't been seen in 18 months, while Kildrum is another to consider seriously with his excellent Hexham form to his name.
GIPSY LEE ROSE can boast a C&D win and teed herself up well for this when a returning fifth here last month so gets the vote in a refitted visor. Three-time C&D scorer Kildrum is feared most on his reappearance ahead of the selection's stablemate Wavelength, who needs monitoring in the market on his comeback.
This looks a good opportunity for C&D scorer GIPSY LEE ROSE to build on her encouraging reappearance fifth here and resume winning ways

1st (10) (9/4 +44%) Lunar Discovery |
9/4(+44%) | (10) Lunar Discovery 9/4, Won her first two starts in impressive style and only lost out on the hat-trick in the stewards' room at Ayr. Failed to give her running up in grade at Aintree 7 months ago but looks a promising recruit to hurdling. Dual bumper winner last season; good jumps pedigree and interesting on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/2 +21%) Chosen Hero |
11/2(+21%) | (5) Chosen Hero 11/2, Off mark in Irish points at second attempt and similar story in bumpers, scoring at Wetherby in January. Back on track with a good second at Chepstow 7 months ago and should take to this discipline. Goes hurdling having won an Irish point and a Wetherby mares' bumper; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/3 +5%) Dangan Cloud |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Dangan Cloud 10/3, Made the frame in a couple of points and completed a solid start to hurdling career at this course a month ago. Open to improvement and likely to be on the premises. In the frame in 2 Irish points; fair 2nd over 2m4f on jumps debut; drop in trip a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (18/1 +28%) Similar Story |
18/1(+28%) | (13) Similar Story 18/1, Easy winner of a point and there was some encouragement in her fifth in a novice at Chepstow on hurdling debut last month. Could step forward from that. Irish point winner who was well-beaten fifth on hurdles debut last month; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (9/1 +36%) Rogue Queen |
9/1(+36%) | (12) Rogue Queen 9/1, Cheap purchase given her pedigree but shaped with some encouragement in a trio of bumpers for Harry Whittington. Not a forlorn hope on hurdling bow. Showed promise in bumpers for Harry Whittington; quite interesting on jumps/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/3 +17%) Presenting Nelly |
10/3(+17%) | (1) Presenting Nelly 10/3, Bumper winner who won mares' events at Worcester (maiden) and Newton Abbot (novice) in September. More on her plate now but in top hands and it wouldn't be a surprise to see her step up again. Improved form with two wins (including on heavy) this term; double penalty, but a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (22/1 -83%) Chatshow Host |
22/1(-83%) | (4) Chatshow Host 22/1, Point winner who plugged on late when fifth in a bumper at Newbury 8 months ago. Worth a market check on hurdling/seasonal debut. Won two Irish points in 2022; good fifth in a Newbury bumper on stable debut; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (18/1 +36%) Spring Wind |
18/1(+36%) | (14) Spring Wind 18/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. 7/1, sixth of 13 in handicap at Listowel (14.2f, soft) 50 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Barry Fitzgerald. Unlikely to feature. Ex-Irish; fair form at up to 1m6f on the Flat; probably best watched on jumps debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (100/1 -203%) It's For You Mum |
100/1(-203%) | (9) It's For You Mum 100/1, Half-sister to bumper winner Dissavril but didn't show much on her own debut in that sphere. Hard to fancy switched to hurdling. French-bred; showed some promise when sixth in a bumper here last month; likely improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (11) (150/1 +0%) Moroccan Moon |
150/1(+0%) | (11) Moroccan Moon 150/1, Looked limited in bumpers so, while she's bred to do better in this sphere, she's hard to make any sort of case for. Modest form at big prices in bumpers; not an obvious candidate on jumps debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (150/1 -88%) Icouldn'Tpassherby |
150/1(-88%) | (7) Icouldn'Tpassherby 150/1, Considerate introduction to hurdling when fifth in a novice at Carlisle 15 days ago. Looks more of a long-term project. Not jump well when well beaten fifth on hurdles debut; should fare better this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -203%) Bridgetjoans |
200/1(-203%) | (3) Bridgetjoans 200/1, And Beyond filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including fair hurdler Cruachan. Dam ran once on Flat in France. Third sole start in point bumpers (Apr 16). Needs to improve on her jumps debut having been 16l-third in a point bumper in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (500/1 -150%) Ile De Memoires |
500/1(-150%) | (8) Ile De Memoires 500/1, No impact in 4 completed starts over timber and is readily opposed. Has shown only modest form at long odds and would be a surprise winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Presenting Nelly is the obvious starting point after wins at Worcester and Newton Abbot but she has to give 12lb to all of her rivals and, on this ground, that looks a big ask. Point-to-point and bumper winner Chosen Hero has to be of some interest for Archie Watson ahead of her hurdling debut and she can go well, but preference is for DANGAN CLOUD. Runner-up on her second point-to-point and on her hurdling bow over further, she may try to make all now dropped back in trip and won't be stopping late on.
LUNAR DISCOVERY was out of her depth when last seen but she'd looked above average in bumpers prior to that and she's capable of making a successful switch to hurdling. Dangan Cloud is a danger on the back of a solid hurdling debut and Presenting Nelly is a threat for all that she shoulders a double penalty.
As Presenting Nelly has a stiff task with her double penalty it could pay to go with bumper winner CHOSEN HERO on her hurdles debut.

1st (5) (3/1 +63%) Great Pepper |
3/1(+63%) | (5) Great Pepper 3/1, Left his first run in Irish points behind when going on to win his following 2 outings, with his latest success in April. £70,000 purchase since and he's an interesting contender on his hurdles debut. Dual point winner who acts on testing ground; interesting on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (6/1 -33%) Mumford's Magic |
6/1(-33%) | (9) Mumford's Magic 6/1, Maiden pointer who showed a bit in bumper and maiden hurdle on his first 2 starts under Rules. After 9 days off, stepped forward from his hurdles debut when third of 6 in maiden at this C&D last month, travelling best, so he's respected for his leading yard. Third in an Irish point and in C&D novice hurdle last time; this looks stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 -33%) Jimmy Chou Pecos AA |
3/1(-33%) | (6) Jimmy Chou Pecos AA 3/1, Showed ability in his only bumper and made an encouraging start over hurdles when runner-up in maidens on his first 2 outings. Below expectations dropped in trip when third in Kelso novice (18.1f) in April, but he's a major player on his return. Irish raider; second in a point and two good runs over hurdles; conditions suit; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2/1 +43%) Clovis Island |
2/1(+43%) | (1) Clovis Island 2/1, Runner-up on sole outing in Irish points and went one better in 5-runner bumper at this course on his Rules debut in March, making all. Could make his presence felt as he goes up in trip on his first start over hurdles. Irish point second who won bumper here (heavy) on stable debut; chance on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (66/1 -230%) Lahardaun |
66/1(-230%) | (8) Lahardaun 66/1, Leading Light gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner Staged Engagement. Dam winning pointer. Placed on both of his completed starts in Irish points, runner-up on the latest occasion in April. Placed in two maiden points in Ireland; worth a market check on his stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (150/1 -200%) Didnt Ask |
150/1(-200%) | (2) Didnt Ask 150/1, Won the first of his 2 starts in points but looked badly in need of the experience switched to hurdling when well held in maiden at Kilbeggan in June last year. Off 17 months ahead of first run for yard after leaving Paul John Gilligan. Irish point winner (March 2022); well beaten on hurdles debut; probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (5/1 -43%) Tommy Johnson |
5/1(-43%) | (12) Tommy Johnson 5/1, Bred to stay well and produced a promising first effort when finding only the odds-on favourite too strong in novice hurdle at Carlisle (20f) 15 days ago. Open to improvement with that initial experience behind him. Very good second on debut at Carlisle last month; should improve but this looks tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (33/1 -106%) Killybegs Jet Lady |
33/1(-106%) | (13) Killybegs Jet Lady 33/1, Successful on last of his 4 starts in Irish points in December last year. However, having had a wind op and fitted with a tongue strap, dropped away quickly when well held in novice hurdle at Carlisle (20f) 15 days ago on Rules debut. £30,000 purchase after Irish point win; had a wind op; poor effort on hurdles debut (6-1). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (125/1 -213%) Edgewell |
125/1(-213%) | (3) Edgewell 125/1, Modest form in bumpers and made little impact in a pair of maiden hurdles last month, at this C&D on the first occasion. Return to this longer trip should suit but he's likely to need more time. Third in a bumper in April, but well beaten on both starts over hurdles; others stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (125/1 -56%) Emotional Roller |
125/1(-56%) | (4) Emotional Roller 125/1, Maiden Irish pointer who is bred to need time and distance and shaped in kind when mid-field in novice hurdle at this course (16.2f) in October. Up in trip but he looks to be one for further down the line. Modest form in Irish points and well beaten over 2m here on hurdles debut; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (150/1 -50%) Twoplacesatonetime |
150/1(-50%) | (11) Twoplacesatonetime 150/1, Maiden pointer and looked one for the longer term when seventh of 10 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (20f) 15 days ago, left behind 3 out. £7,000 purchase after being placed in two Irish points; tailed off on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (250/1 -150%) Kingston Rock |
250/1(-150%) | (7) Kingston Rock 250/1, Offered little in a pair of bumpers, again finishing well held when eighth of 11 at Newcastle in May. Looks to be up against it as he switches to hurdling. Modest form in two bumpers; improvement needed on debut over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (250/1 -150%) Scalloway Castle |
250/1(-150%) | (10) Scalloway Castle 250/1, Always behind in his 2 starts in bumpers, dropping away 3f out when seventh of 10 at Carlisle 22 days ago. Best watched on his hurdles bow. Well beaten at long odds in two bumpers; hurdles debut; looks more of a long-term prospect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Clovis Island was a comfortable bumper winner here in March and he looks an interesting recruit to hurdles for Nicky Richards, who has his string in good form. The market may prove a good guide to his chances, but a chance is taken on the race-fit TOMMY JOHNSON. Sent off a 7/2 chance on his racecourse bow at Carlisle last month, he was only beaten a length at the line and if he improves for that experience, he could go one better. Dual point-to-point winner Great Pepper and Irish raider Jimmy Chou Pecos Aa are others for the shortlist.
JIMMY CHOU PECOS AA ran to a fair level when runner-up on his first 2 starts over hurdles and the form of his third at Kelso last time has been boosted since, with the pair that beat him both winning subsequently. He is taken to get off the mark this time around, with Tommy Johnson feared most after his promising debut, ahead of Mumford's Magic.
The unexposed ex-pointer CLOVIS ISLAND, who won a bumper here in March, is taken to beat Irish raider Jimmy Chou Pecos AA.

1st (2) (9/4 +18%) One Mill Harbour |
9/4(+18%) | (2) One Mill Harbour 9/4, Made a successful chase debut for Lucinda Russell at Newcastle in March and bounced back from a poor run at Ayr in April when going in again on his Carlisle reappearance (2m. soft) for his new stable 3 weeks ago. Respected up 5 lb. Won on stable debut at Carlisle and this lightly raced 6yo is firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 -86%) Overcourt |
13/2(-86%) | (1) Overcourt 13/2, Dual hurdles winner for Sandy Thomson who has taken well to chasing, running well when second on his 2½m course reappearance for his new yard 4 weeks ago. Down in trip. Respected. Returned from absence with good second here on stable debut; player if avoiding the bounce. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (11/4 +69%) Five Dollar Fine |
11/4(+69%) | (8) Five Dollar Fine 11/4, Failed to win over hurdles but did achieve a fair level of form and he ran with credit in a 2m Sedgefield maiden on his recent return from a 5-month break. Makes chase debut now (point winner earlier in career). 0-8 over hurdles but showed ability & this point winner could relish the switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (3/1 +63%) Fia Fuinidh |
3/1(+63%) | (6) Fia Fuinidh 3/1, Winner of a 2m Ayr handicap hurdle in the mud last winter. Irish point background suggests he may have even more to offer over fences. Promise in light hurdling career; came third in a point and retains potential now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (16/1 -129%) Les's Legacy |
16/1(-129%) | (5) Les's Legacy 16/1, Dual course hurdles winner. Posted a pair of good runner-up efforts in 2m handicap hurdles here in the summer and claims if taking to the larger obstacles back from a break. Not bred for fences but entitled to respect on chase debut given his liking for Hexham.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (17/2 -42%) Artemis Kimbo |
17/2(-42%) | (3) Artemis Kimbo 17/2, Fair winning novice hurdler last season. Switches to fences for this handicap debut after 6 months off. Represents a leading stable so merits plenty of respect, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Lightly raced maiden hurdle winner; top trainer wastes little time in sending her chasing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A taking winner on his first start for new connections at Carlisle last month, ONE MILL HARBOUR has made an excellent start to his chasing career and he can overcome a mere 5lb rise for that success to score again. Overcourt returned from a long absence to run very well when second here over further recently and he must enter calculations, along with chase debutants Artemis Kimbo and Les's Legacy.
A few interesting newcomers to the chasing ranks, and a market move for one or more of them could prove significant, but the percentage call is to side with those who've already shown they can do it over fences, with ONE MILL HARBOUR taken to follow up his Carlisle reappearance success at the expense of Overcourt.
This could go to FIVE DOLLAR FINE, a point winner who could improve upon his fair hurdle form now going chasing.

1st (7) (9/2 +36%) Serious Ego |
9/2(+36%) | (7) Serious Ego 9/2, It's now fifteen runs since his last win in 2021, but he wasn't discredited when fourth of 6 in handicap hurdle at this course (20.1f) in May. Never on terms after 5 months off at Carlisle last time, but he could fare better with his recent run behind him. On long losing run but should be fitter for his reappearance Carlisle fifth; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (16/1 -60%) Bouncing Bobby |
16/1(-60%) | (8) Bouncing Bobby 16/1, Opened account over hurdles in handicap at Carlisle (20f) in October last year. Successful on the Flat during the summer and some encouragement returned to hurdling at Carlisle 15 days ago. Task is now to build on his latest effort. Probably raced on disadvantageous part of track at Carlisle last time so could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -50%) Geordies Dream |
15/2(-50%) | (3) Geordies Dream 15/2, Made a winning start in bumpers and enhanced that form in defeat when runner-up next time. Wasn't able to match that level in 3 starts over hurdles in 2021/22, but he could still have more to offer as he goes handicapping, albeit with a lengthy absence to overcome. Failed to build on promising hurdling debut at Newcastle; market can guide after absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +29%) Ingennio |
5/1(+29%) | (5) Ingennio 5/1, Runner-up in handicaps at Huntingdon and Taunton earlier this year but hasn't progressed in his 2 subsequent starts, finishing mid-field at Uttoxeter on his latest outing in May. Improvement required with cheekpieces applied on his return. Not disgraced when fifth at Uttoxeter in May; no forlorn hope off a 3lb lower mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (5/1 +55%) Blended Stealth |
5/1(+55%) | (9) Blended Stealth 5/1, Remains a maiden but was placed 3 times for Nigel Twiston-Davies last season and shaped encouragingly on his stable debut when third at Uttoxeter in July. However, below form last 2 starts so needs to get back on track with cheekpieces reapplied. Is now 0-21 and he has twice failed to build on an encouraging Uttoxeter third in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (5/1 -122%) Rocco Storm |
5/1(-122%) | (2) Rocco Storm 5/1, Successful 3 times over fences last season, including at this course, and bounced back to his best when winning handicap chase at Sedgefield last month. Without a win over hurdles but has a lower mark in this sphere and he could be thereabouts. Won at Sedgefield latest, fourth chasing win for current yard; not ruled out back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (9/2 +0%) One Step Up |
9/2(+0%) | (1) One Step Up 9/2, Has run to only a modest level in a trio of starts over hurdles so far, sixth of 10 in C&D novice on his return last month. However, he's bred to do better so he could prove a different proposition now handicapping. Brought along steadily, C&D sixth latest; can take a sizeable step forward now h'capping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/1 +56%) Ferdinand Star |
11/1(+56%) | (6) Ferdinand Star 11/1, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland for Patrick Magee, finishing second in Tramore maiden on final start over there in October last year. However, struggled for form in handicaps for David Pipe, so revival needed with blinkers applied on his stable debut. Failed to fire for David Pipe last term; lots more is needed on yard debut in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (22/1 +33%) Edmond Dantes |
22/1(+33%) | (10) Edmond Dantes 22/1, Following a wind op, ran best race for current yard when runner-up in handicap at this C&D in June. Not in the same form in his 2 starts since, though. Tongue strap back on but others still preferred. Yet to register a victory in this sphere and arrives on the back of two below-par efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -203%) Silver Vision |
100/1(-203%) | (4) Silver Vision 100/1, Suited by way the race developed when off the mark in juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh last November. However, her form has gone the wrong way since, finishing down the field on the Flat when last seen in May. Ended last term below par and beat only one home on Flat in May; needs a big step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An impressive scorer over fences at Sedgefield last month, ROCCO STORM was put up 6lb for that win, but remains off 97 over hurdles and can take advantage. That may be at the main expense of handicap debutant Geordies Dream, and One Step Up, who went well for a long way over C&D last time out. Ingennio and Serious Ego are players based on the pick of their form also.
ONE STEP UP hasn't made much impact in his 3 starts over hurdles so far, but his pedigree (half-brother to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Dunvegan) offers hope that he'll be capable of better. He is open to progress now handicapping and is preferred to Rocco Storm, who can go well again off his lower hurdles mark. Geordies Dream is also considered.
This could go the way of the unexposed 5yo ONE STEP UP, who appeals as a likely improver now going handicapping for his in-form stable

1st (8) (13/2 +19%) Solway Primrose |
13/2(+19%) | (8) Solway Primrose 13/2, Didn't offer much in a trio of novice hurdles last season, but has shown more spark upped in trip in handicap company since returning to action in September, latterly finishing third behind Champ Royal and Atomic Angel over C&D. Since undergone a wind op and each-way shout off this 1 lb lower mark. Lightly raced hurdler; solid C&D third last month; since had wind op; needs considering. |

2nd (7) (12/1 +33%) You Say Its Over |
12/1(+33%) | (7) You Say Its Over 12/1, Yet to win a race of any description and while she appeared to take a step forward when runner-up in a Cartmel maiden during the summer, she has failed to build on that in 3 subsequent starts. Runner-up in 2m6f Cartmel maiden hurdle in June but she's failed to kick on since. |

3/1(+60%) | (5) Cowboy Cooper 3/1, Little impact in a trio of novice events and he failed to land a blow in 2½m handicaps here and at Perth during the spring. However, this mark is a lowly one and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he'll be seen in a better light now faced with a stiffer test. Creditable sixth at Perth in April; off a 3lb lower mark here so enters calculations. |

4th (3) (12/1 -9%) Lunar Glow |
12/1(-9%) | (3) Lunar Glow 12/1, Failed to make much of an impact in maiden/novice hurdles at up to 2½m during the spring, but it wouldn't be the greatest of surprises were she to take a step forward now upped in trip for this handicap debut. One to note in the betting. Staying-on sixth at Carlisle in April; this longer trip should suit; considered. |

5th (4) (9/2 +36%) Lewa House |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Lewa House 9/2, Backed at long odds when successful off this mark here (2½m, heavy) last November. Reappearance third at Kelso was a respectable effort, but his profile is a patchy one and he didn't appear to get home when tried over this trip here in March. Off six months before creditable third at Kelso 33 days ago; shortlisted eased 1lb. |

6th (1) (5/1 -82%) Champ Royal |
5/1(-82%) | (1) Champ Royal 5/1, Inconsistent during spell with Neil Mulholland, his breakthrough success at Worcester in July bookmarked by low-key efforts. However, looked better than ever when proving 4¾ lengths too good for re-opposing stablemate Atomic Angel on debut for new yard over C&D (heavy) last month. Up 4 lb. Winning start for new yard over C&D latest; up 4lb but strong at the finish there; player. |

7th (2) (7/2 -5%) Atomic Angel |
7/2(-5%) | (2) Atomic Angel 7/2, Ended last season on a winning note at Sedgefield (27f, heavy) in April and positive start to this campaign when chasing home Champ Royal over C&D. 4 lb better off with that rival now and, moreover, she'll be on a more level playing field-fitness wise this time, so there is cause for optimism. C&D scorer; good C&D second to Champ Royal latest; has 4lb pull so enters calculations. |

|PU| (6) (22/1 -214%) Humps And Bumps |
22/1(-214%) | (6) Humps And Bumps 22/1, On a lengthy losing run, but has found some consistency over fences since undergoing a wind op, making the frame all 5 starts since returning from a break in June. Couldn't be sure that she'll continue the good work back hurdling in a first-time visor, but possibilities if she is able to do so. On a lengthy losing sequence but in decent nick over fences; no forlorn hope over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CHAMP ROYAL had stablemate Atomic Angel (second) almost five lengths behind when doing it well over C&D last time out and he is taken to follow up off a 4lb higher mark today on just his second start for new connections. The veteran Humps And Bumps is a strong stayer at this trip but has yet to win on British soil, while recent C&D third Solway Primrose is another capable of being in the shake-up.
ATOMIC ANGEL was returning from a six-month break when outpointed by race-fit stablemate Champ Royal over C&D in October and, with that run likely to have blown away the cobwebs, she is taken to emerge on top this time. While Champ Royal will be a threat if in a similar mood, his patchy profile raises concerns in that respect and Cowboy Cooper, who may well take a step forward now moving up in trip, rates the main danger. Solway Primrose is best of the rest.
Susan Corbett's new recruit CHAMP ROYAL (nap) went in at the first time of asking over C&D last time and can defy a 4lb rise.
Ths is the racecard key.
