C'mon Kenny |
(4) (2/1 +11%)2/1(+11%) | (4) C'mon Kenny 2/1, Overcame late trouble in running when narrowly taking 8-runner handicap (7/2) at Pontefract (12f, good to firm) 2 days ago. 4 lb penalty to carry now but remains unexposed at this sort of trip. Won at Pontefract on Monday and he's respected under a 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (2.25/1 +72%) Wynter Wildes |
2.25/1(+72%) | (2) Wynter Wildes 2.25/1, Three-time winner in 2022 but yet to score this year and just respectable fifth in Chester handicap (12.3f, good, 18/1) latest. Others more appealing. Didn't run badly at Chester but needs more here and seems to be better on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (0.83/1 +31%) Bollin Margaret |
0.83/1(+31%) | (5) Bollin Margaret 0.83/1, Returned to form when second at Redcar (10f) last month and went one better in emphatic fashion at Thirsk (12f, good, 6/4) 9 days ago. Clearly well in under 5 lb penalty and holds obvious claims. Easy win at Thirsk last Monday and could be tough to beat under a 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3.5/1 +46%) Swift Tuttle |
3.5/1(+46%) | (3) Swift Tuttle 3.5/1, Showed benefit of reappearance outing when good second of 7 in handicap (50/1) at this course (11.8f, good to firm) 18 days ago, albeit had run of race. Just 1 lb higher now and ought to go well again. Went close over C&D last month and holds strong claims if repeating that latest form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Only narrowly denied over a fractionally shorter trip last month, a 1lb raised mark looks unlikely to stop Swift Tuttle from producing another bold bid, but it could pay to side with BOLLIN MARGARET. Tim Easterby's inmate steps up in class following a six-length success at Thirsk earlier this month, and Brandon Wilkie negates most of the mare's 5lb penalty courtesy of his 3lb claim in the saddle. Wynter Wildes completes the shortlist.
BOLLIN MARGARET resumed winning ways in eye-catching fashion at Thirsk last week and remains very well treated, despite her 5 lb penalty. She can go in again. Monday's Pontefract winner C'mon Kenny rates the principal danger.
The mare BOLLIN MARGARET (nap) was an easy winner at Thirsk last Monday and can defy a 5lb penalty. Swift Tuttle is feared most.

1st (3) (0.91/1 +39%) Truthful |
0.91/1(+39%) | (3) Truthful 0.91/1, Sister to smart winner Sea On Time and justified support on debut when successful at Salisbury (9.9f, good to firm) 27 days ago, running green before staying on to lead final strides. Not taken lightly with improvement to come. Won at Salisbury (1m2f, good) four weeks ago by a head, leading final 1f in a tight scrap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 -33%) Shagpyle |
2/1(-33%) | (2) Shagpyle 2/1, Half-sister to high-class winner Pyledriver and looked a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Ascot (10f, soft) a month ago, hitting the line strongly and overcoming pace bias in the race. Can score again with this step up in trip to suit. Half-sister to high-class Pyledriver; won five-runner maiden at Ascot (1m2f, soft) in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 +9%) Montevideo |
10/1(+9%) | (5) Montevideo 10/1, Well-related filly who left her debut form behind after 8 months off when fourth of 10 in minor event at Goodwood (9.9f, good to firm) 18 days ago, faring best of the trio that had run before. Can give another good account upped further in trip. Fourth at Goodwood (1m2f, good to firm) just in front of La Belle Aurore after making most. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8.5/1 +0%) Fifth Harmonic |
8.5/1(+0%) | (4) Fifth Harmonic 8.5/1, 400,000 gns yearling, Dubawi filly. Dam French/German 7f-8.5f (German Group 3 and including at 2 yrs) winner. Has a useful standard to aim at on her first outing. 400,000gns yearling; first foal; dam 7f-8.5f winner (including German Group 3; RPR 107). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (25/1 -108%) La Belle Aurore |
25/1(-108%) | (1) La Belle Aurore 25/1, Making a belated debut, showed ability when fifth of 10 in minor event at Goodwood (9.9f, good to firm, 28/1) last month, keeping on gradually without being knocked about. Entitled to progress from that first experience. Never-nearer 5th of ten at Goodwood (1m2f) on debut, finishing on the heels of Montevideo. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A half-sister to last year's King George winner Pyledriver, SHAGPYLE looked smart when running away with an Ascot maiden over 1m2f on her racecourse debut last month. A stiffer stamina test shouldn't pose any problems for her, especially given her dam is a half-sister to 1m4f Group 1 winner Mount Ormel. Truthful was a game winner at Salisbury over 1m2f last month and William Haggas' 120,000gns purchase cannot be taken lightly, while the unraced Fifth Harmonic adds further spice to the race.
Half-sister to high-class winner Pyledriver, SHAGPYLE looked a potentially smart prospect herself when overcoming the run of the race to make a winning debut at Ascot last month, finishing strongly, so she can make it 2 from 2 as she goes up in trip. Truthful also made a winning start and isn't taken lightly, while Montevideo can give another good account.
Pedigree ensured SHAGPYLE was high profile at Ascot last month and that debut did not disappoint. This looks a strong field.

4.5/1(+0%) | (3) Lake Forest 4.5/1, Foaled April 8. 130,000 gns yearling, No Nay Never colt. Half-brother to numerous winners, including 7f/1m winner Clint Maroon, 11f/1½m winner Lady of Kyushu and 1¼m winner Star Fortress, all useful. Makes appeal on paper.
2nd (8) (3.2/1 +29%) Watcha Matey |
3.2/1(+29%) | (8) Watcha Matey 3.2/1, Foaled March 16. 14,000 gns foal, €30,000 yearling, Land Force colt. In hood, fourth of 7 in maiden at Chester (6.1f, good) on debut 18 days ago, showing ability from the worst of the draw. Should improve.
3rd (7) (25/1 -194%) Vantheman |
25/1(-194%) | (7) Vantheman 25/1, Foaled February 28. £45,000 yearling, Invincible Army colt. Half-brother to 5f winner Whisky McGonagall. Dam, 6f winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 5.4f Hamish McGonagall. Very much bred for speed but a couple of his rivals possess glossier pedigrees.
4th (4) (5/1 +64%) Romantic Samurai |
5/1(+64%) | (4) Romantic Samurai 5/1, Foaled February 8. Kodi Bear colt. Half-brother to winner up to 9f Gert Lush. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner who stayed 1¼m, sister to useful 6f winner Sir Thomas Gresham. Bred to make a speedy juvenile and is worth a market check.
5th (1) (2.25/1 +36%) Action Plan |
2.25/1(+36%) | (1) Action Plan 2.25/1, Foaled March 6. 100,000 gns foal, Soldier's Call colt. Dam unraced out of useful 1m winner Raasekha, herself half-sister to Muhaarar. Speedy pedigree and represents yard whose juveniles are often clued up, so makes plenty of appeal.
6th (5) (8.5/1 +6%) Space Ninja |
8.5/1(+6%) | (5) Space Ninja 8.5/1, Foaled April 24. £160,000 yearling, Kodiac colt. Dam unraced, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Princess Noor. Yard not yet associated with debut winners but certainly possesses an eye-catching pedigree.
7th (6) (10/1 -25%) Tropical Air |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Tropical Air 10/1, Foaled April 18. Showcasing colt. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m (stayed 1¼m) Aesop's Fables out of useful 1m-1¼m winner Abhisheka. Played up badly and was withdrawn prior to intended debut in April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The vote goes to ACTION PLAN. The son of Soldier's Call is fairly well related and his granddam was a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Muhaarar, as well as being Listed-placed herself. Karl Burke's inmate is taken to get the better of 130,000gns purchase Lake Forest who, as a half-brother to seven winners including Listed winner Lady Of Kyushu, can give the selection plenty to think about. Watcha Matey finished a fair fourth over this trip at Chester last month and is another to note.
Plenty of interesting newcomers on paper, with Karl Burke's Soldier's Call colt ACTION PLAN perhaps most appealing of them all. The yard have already notched seven juvenile debut winners this season, whilst his speedy sire is already into double figures for the number of winners sired in his freshman season. Watcha Matey, the only runner with prior experience, sets a reasonable standard after a promising debut. Lake Forest perhaps make most appeal of the remainder.
It would be no surprise if this went to a newcomer but WATCHA MATEY raced widest for most of the way on his debut at Chester.

One to note on debut for leading connections. 400,000gns yearling; looks stable second string on jockey bookings for his top stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (2.5/1 -25%) State Of Desire |
2.5/1(-25%) | (10) State Of Desire 2.5/1, Frankel colt who was all the rage in betting but shaped as if needing the experience when third in 7-runner Yarmouth novice (6f) 3 weeks ago, not quicken over 1f out and not knocked about. Represents excellent yard and he looks sure to improve. 400,000gns yearling; 5-6 when third of seven at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm); 7f will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -243%) Phone Tag |

Definite signs of encouragement when fourth on debut in Newbury maiden (6f) 26 days ago, running green but getting the idea late on. Looks sure to improve with that under his belt. Green second favourite at Newbury (6f, good), coming from the rear to be fourth of ten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (18/1 -29%) Macanudo |
18/1(-29%) | (3) Macanudo 18/1, Foaled March 9. €210,000 yearling, Invincible Spirit colt. Dam, 7f/1m winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Beringer, granddaughter of Irish 1000 Guineas winner Mehthaaf. Dam, 6f winner who stayed 1m, closely related to smart 2-y-o 6f winner Charming Thought out of useful 1m-1¼m winner Annabelle's Charm. Yard not had many 2-y-o runners so far this term but he's certainly one to note. 200,000gns buy; 2nd foal; dam 6f winner (RPR 73), closely related to 6f 2yo Group 1 winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (18/1 -50%) Sea The Dream |
18/1(-50%) | (8) Sea The Dream 18/1, Foaled March 12. 115,000 gns foal, 82,000 gns 2-y-o, Sea The Moon colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 7f/1m winner Merricourt and 7f-9f winner Different Views. 115,000gns foal, 82,000gns 2yo; others are a bit more striking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (150/1 +25%) Likeashadow |
150/1(+25%) | (2) Likeashadow 150/1, Foaled February 26. €18,000 yearling, £12,000 2-y-o, James Garfield gelding. Half-brother to 2-y-o 7f winner Roman Hands. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to useful 6f winner Gravity Flow. Tough ask on debut. 8,000euros yearling, £12,000 2yo; on debut, probably up against it. |

10th (5) (18/1 -13%) Phoenix Passion |
18/1(-13%) | (5) Phoenix Passion 18/1, Foaled April 14. 125,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot colt. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (28/1 -56%) Quintus Maximus |
28/1(-56%) | (7) Quintus Maximus 28/1, Foaled February 16. Kitten's Joy colt. Dam winner up to 9.5f (2-y-o 7f winner). Yard adept at readying a newcomer and market confidence behind him would need to be viewed positively. 1st foal; dam 7f-9.5f winner (RPR 105) half-sister to two useful winners who stayed 1m4f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
With several well-bred newcomers being introduced, this looks an above-average contest. Macanudo appeals given his dam was placed in a Listed race over this trip and he runs for an in-form yard. Charlie Johnston's pair Paladin and Quintus Maximus also have lots to offer on paper and warrant a second look. However, STATE OF DESIRE strikes as the pick of two Godolphin-owned contenders and this son of Frankel, who cost 400,000gns as a yearling, has a valuable edge in terms of experience following his introductory Yarmouth third.
Despite being well supported STATE OF DESIRE shaped as if he'd come on plenty for his debut effort at Yarmouth 21 days ago and, representing a top yard, he could be worth chancing to build on that now. There are a host of interesting newcomers in opposition, including Serenity Dream and By The Book, both of who demand market attention. Phone Tag, who caught the eye himself on debut at Newbury is another to note.
State Of Desire and Phone Tag showed debut promise without living up to market expectations. MACANUDO is a notable newcomer.

Changed hands for 20,000gns (also gelded) before below-par eighth on yard bow in handicap at Musselburgh (8f, soft) 45 days ago. Something to find. Gelded last of 8 for new yard on handicap debut at Musselburgh (1m, good to soft) in April. |

2nd (5) (20/1 +0%) Concert Boy |
20/1(+0%) | (5) Concert Boy 20/1, Much improved when winning 7f Newcastle handicap in May but then beat only one at York (7f) 18 days ago. Worth another chance. 7f AW win in May; 18-1 when behind at York (7f, good to firm) 19 days later. |

3rd (1) (8/1 -129%) Calypso |
8/1(-129%) | (1) Calypso 8/1, Gelded/off 4 months before posting a good third on his handicap debut at Newcastle (8f, 13/8) 62 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Tongue strap on 1st time. No forlorn hope. Creditable third on handicap (1m, AW); back to 7f; tongue tied, with improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (3.33/1 +33%) Drafted |
3.33/1(+33%) | (9) Drafted 3.33/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time when winning 7f nursery at Wolverhampton on final 2-y-o start. Had headgear left off but posted a very good third at Doncaster (7f) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and firmly in the picture. Won sole run in cheekpieces; they return today, following a good third (7f, good to firm). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3.33/1 +33%) Ararat |
3.33/1(+33%) | (3) Ararat 3.33/1, Kodiac gelding who resumed from 6 months off/gelded with a good fifth of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good, 25/1) 25 days ago. Hood back on and in the mix. Worth this second attempt at 7f; hooded on first two starts and today; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (4.5/1 -13%) Renesmee |
4.5/1(-13%) | (4) Renesmee 4.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden who took his form up a notch when second of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f). Off 112 days but can't be discounted off the same mark for last year's winning yard. Minor honours on all four starts; off since February; unraced on firmer than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5.5/1 -22%) The Toff |
5.5/1(-22%) | (8) The Toff 5.5/1, Gained his breakthrough success at Lingfield (7f, AW) in May and got right back on track when excellent third of 11 in handicap over C&D 20 days ago. That form has been franked so he has to be taken seriously off an unchanged mark. Close, front-running third of 11 over C&D (good to firm) last time, Seagrave Fox close up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (10/1 +29%) Eternal Class |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Eternal Class 10/1, Debut Thirsk 5f winner who got back on track when sixth of 11 in handicap over C&D (good to firm) 20 days ago. Needs considering off a 2 lb lower mark. Won debut (5f, good to soft) last July; not so good in her four runs since; upped from 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (66/1 -136%) Indrapura Star |
66/1(-136%) | (10) Indrapura Star 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 66/1, best effort when fourth of 8 in maiden at Leicester (7f, heavy) 32 days ago. Makes handicap debut but others look better treated at these weights. Improved on latest start (7f, soft); may do better but this opening mark is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (25/1 -25%) Saracen Head |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Saracen Head 25/1, Fair maiden. Last of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 7/2) 72 days ago. Enters calculations if shrugging off latest effort. Unlucky on second start but disappointing on both since and has been gelded; upped from 6f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RENESMEE has shown both versatility and consistency in her four previous starts and has a lot going for her off a workable mark. Reverting to turf shouldn't present much of an issue given she was a very close third in a novice at Ascot last autumn and she rates a solid option in her bid to break her maiden. Ararat also has scope and is feared most, while Drafted and The Toff are also considered.
Plenty are in with a shout but THE TOFF looks the way to go given he can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent C&D third (form franked). Doncaster third Drafted is feared most now the cheekpieces go back on with Seagrave Fox, Concert Boy and Renesmee completing the shortlist.
Drafted in the returning cheekpieces is second on the list to ARARAT who made a promising return at Newmarket over 6f.

1st (2) (4/1 +38%) Quick Change |
4/1(+38%) | (2) Quick Change 4/1, Ended her 3-y-o campaign with a defeat of the useful Amanzoe over C&D last June. Understandably needed her comeback run at Newcastle in March and showed she retains her ability when seventh of 19 over 7f at York last month. The return to 1m should suit her. 7th of 19 at York (7f) latest was not far off best form, which was a C&D win one year ago. |

4.5/1(+0%) | (4) Five Towns 4.5/1, Came good at the third time of asking when seeing off 10 rivals in 7f Kempton novice in October. Creditable fifth of 14 on 7f York handicap debut/reappearance and shapes as if today's longer trip will suit her. Came from last to fifth of 14 on handicap/seasonal debut at York (7f, good to firm). |

4th (3) (16/1 +52%) Ellade |
16/1(+52%) | (3) Ellade 16/1, Fair filly who has returned with respectable fourth-placed finishes in 1m handicaps at Lingfield and Doncaster in recent weeks but there's a suspicion she might prove vulnerable to some of the unexposed 3-y-os in this line-up. Below form since winning at Newbury in May off 9lb higher; bit of a revival lately. |

10/1(-122%) | (7) Regal Fanfare 10/1, Fair form when placed in novice at Lingfield (7f) and maiden at Nottingham (extended 1m) this spring. In good hands and appeals as a likely improver now moving into handicap company. Latest start was on heavy going and she could still be interesting on this handicap debut. |

6th (8) (6.5/1 -189%) Chorus Line |
6.5/1(-189%) | (8) Chorus Line 6.5/1, Left last autumn's 3 efforts well behind when making a successful handicap debut/reappearance under William Buick at Leicester (7f) 15 days ago, showing a good turn of foot to lead in the dying strides. A 3 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop her with further improvement likely. Late surge won her handicap/seasonal debut at Leicester (7f, good to firm); raised 3lb. |

7th (1) (14/1 +0%) Scotch Mistress |
14/1(+0%) | (1) Scotch Mistress 14/1, Left reappearance behind when a respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (8.5f, good to firm, 16/1) 14 days ago, finishing well after meeting trouble. Back to some form on latest when coming from the back for 4th of nine at Beverley (8.4f). |

3.2/1(+54%) | (6) Alice Knyvet 3.2/1, Progressive form, finishing 3½ lengths fourth in a decent 1m Windsor maiden 23 days ago. This well-bred filly should go on to better things in handicaps. Front-running fourth of 13 in maiden at Windsor (1m, good to firm) on latest outing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In this competitive contest marginal preference is for the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly REGAL FANFARE. The three-year-old was by no means disgraced when third in testing conditions at Nottingham last time out and the sister to the Group 3-winning Regal Encore is taken to appreciate this sounder surface. Chorus Line shed the maiden tag at Leicester on her latest outing and she demands the utmost respect off 3lb higher. Alice Knyvet also makes some appeal.
Possibly best to narrow this down to the 3-y-os. CHORUS LINE did well to get up over 7f at Leicester last month and can make light of a 3 lb rise with the step up to 1m likely to suit her. Well-bred pair Alice Knyvet and Regal Fanfare appeal as probable improvers now handicapping and may give the selection most to think about.
An interesting field may be headed by CHORUS LINE, Five Towns and Scotch Mistress who all caught the eye late on last time out.

1st (3) (0.91/1 +55%) Coverdale |
0.91/1(+55%) | (3) Coverdale 0.91/1, Progressive sort who made it 2 from 2 for the year with a cosy success at Nottingham a month ago. Open to further improvement and may well complete the hat-trick. Two 1m2f wins last month on softer than good; latest 2lb rise may well underestimate him. |

2nd (5) (9/1 +59%) Gozo |
9/1(+59%) | (5) Gozo 9/1, Fair form for Ian Williams last season. New yard had a winner recently and has cheekpieces on for handicap debut after 9 months off/wind op. Worth a market check. Up in trip for this handicap/seasonal debut after wind surgery; first-time cheekpieces too. |

3rd (2) (4.5/1 +31%) Feel The Need |
4.5/1(+31%) | (2) Feel The Need 4.5/1, Fairly useful 7f juvenile winner who resumed after 7 months off/gelded with an excellent second of six in 7.5f Beverley handicap. Both efforts since have been a bit underwhelming but he's up in trip now. Trouble in running last time (1m, good to firm) but no dramatic gains once in the clear. |

4th (4) (5/1 +50%) Almarin |
5/1(+50%) | (4) Almarin 5/1, 15/2 and visored for 1st time, very good second of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Can't be discounted for all that the longer trip is an unknown. Shaped as if worth a go at 1m2f last time; probably needs to find extra in this field. |

5th (6) (7/1 +50%) Playactor |
7/1(+50%) | (6) Playactor 7/1, Showed ability in a trio of novice events, including when fifth of 10 over this trip at Newmarket's Craven meeting, but failed to improve making handicap debut at Chester (10.3f, good) 18 days ago. Can get back to form returned to a more galloping track. Had possible excuses on handicap debut but a more positive show would have been preferable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Coverdale arrives on the hunt for a third successive win and demands the utmost respect off only 2lb higher than his latest success at Nottingham. The son of Expert Eye has a question to answer on this quicker surface, though, and preference is for GREEK ORDER. The son of Kingman is a brother to Group 3 winner Sangarius and gets the nod to build on his first career win at Sandown now stepping up in trip. Feel The Need was denied a clear run at York last time out and may take a step forward.
COVERDALE improved further to score with a bit in hand at Nottingham and he's preferred to the well-bred Greek Order, who is also going the right way. Playactor should benefit from the return to a more conventional track (below form at Chester last time), so he's not one to discount.
Juddmonte-owned GREEK ORDER is preferred to the hat-trick seeking Coverdale and those two dominate calculations.
Ths is the racecard key.
