(3) Diamand De Vindecy 15/2, Fair winner at up to 15f on the Flat in France and ran to a similar level when staying on for second at Ripon (2m, heavy) in April. Possibly failed for stamina back over hurdles at Uttoxeter (23.3f) since and not discounted returned to this sphere.
Soundly beaten over hurdles last month but prior to that he went close on the Flat.

Encouraging performances on both runs for new yard and is edging down the weights.

(4) Corsican Caper 20/1, Course winner who arrives in fine form, winning 3 of his last 5 starts, and proved better than ever when close second of 8 in handicap at Leicester (11.8f, good to soft) 10 days ago, slowly away. Very much of interest again on this first crack at 2m.
Three wins in second half of the spring; could do with slow ground.

Off 5 months, failed to meet expectations when fourth of 7 in handicap at Nottingham (14f, good, 7/2) 26 days ago, pushed along early in straight and beaten 2f out. Remains early days at least, including at this trip, so interesting if the market speaks in her favour again.
Hasn't threatened in her two 1m6f handicaps but she looks a good prospect for 2m.

14:05 Haydock Handicap (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Corsican Caper has progressed since the start of the turf season and warrants serious thought trying 2m for the first time. Similar comments apply to It's All About You, who has run well in both previous starts for his current yard and is a potential improver over this new trip. However, having gone down by just half a length at Ripon in April, the dual-purpose DIAMAND DE VINDECY has the more proven stamina and looks worth chancing back on the Flat from a highly competitive mark.

A winner over shorter here on his penultimate start, CORSICAN CAPER was arguably undone by a slow start when going down narrowly at Leicester 10 days ago and he looks to hold sound claims once more. Animato is also thriving and he's the chief danger in his hat-trick bid.

The lightly raced SCYLLA could relish the step up to 2m and she earns the vote ahead of Animato, who is on a hat-trick.

14:35 Haydock Stakes (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Arabian Cobra showed marked improvement from his debut with a second-placed finish in a decent novice stakes at Windsor 12 days ago and should be a key player with another step forward. However, there are several interesting newcomers to consider, with CONSCRIPT, a half-brother to a Listed race winner over this trip, shading preference on debut for a yard doing well with juveniles this season. Dubai Bling and the Karl Burke-trained pair, Qaseem and Tiger Mask, are others to monitor in the betting.

Strong support behind a debutant will look significant but ARABIAN COBRA took a marked step forward on his debut run in the Lily Agnes when finishing runner-up at Windsor 12 days ago, pulling clear of the remainder, and his experience edge over the majority ought to count for a good deal. Newcomer Mukaber is very much of interest (holds Group 2 entry) and he needs considering. Against the Wind, who ran well on his York debut, and expensive breeze-up acquisition Veydari are others to consider.

Arabian Cobra sets a strong form standard but preference is for VEYDARI for Wathnan Racing, whose 2yos have been excelling.

15:05 Haydock Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NARIKO blitzed a mark of 71 with a comfortable success over C&D last month and could still be heavily underestimated off a 7lb higher mark. Admittedly, this is a deeper race and the likes of Beyond Borders and Cool Dividend provide stiffer competition, with the latter suggested as the biggest threat to the selection after a close second at Doncaster 19 days ago. The Good Biscuit is also feared.

A dual winner as a 2-y-o, THE GOOD BISCUIT posted a career-best effort back from 10 months off (also gelded) when runner-up at Leicester 10 days ago and appealing as the type who could progress further, he shades the vote operating from the same mark. Nariko, a good winner over C&D 12 days ago, is feared along with Cool Dividend. Run Boy Run is another worth a second look equipped with first-time cheekpieces.

Bottomweight PEARL ABBEY could be on a good mark for her handicap debut judged on her comfortable maiden win at Wolverhampton.

15:35 Haydock Handicap (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

An open event in which only a tentative vote can go to GRACE ANGEL, who bounced back to form with a good second at Windsor last month. Darryll Holland's filly is now 6lb lower than when winning over C&D in June of last year, so she ought to hold every chance if building on that most recent effort. Paddy's Day (second) finished half a length in front of Match Play (third) at Ayr 15 days ago and both look set to be on the premises once again, while others to note include Astapor and Thunder Star.

A tight-knit handicap in which marginal preference is for C&D winner MATCH PLAY who signalled he is ready to go in again at Ayr. Gemini Star is next on the list, especially if first-time cheekpieces eke out some improvement. Paddy's Day, Grace Angel and Thunder Star all need factoring in too.

This should be fast and furious and THUNDER STAR (nap) can exploit today's drop in grade. Match Play is feared most.

16:05 Haydock Maiden (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Queen Of Soldiers holds an entry in the Ribblesdale and commands plenty of respect having been narrowly denied on her racecourse bow at Ascot. Lasting Love and Power Of Destiny are also noted, but FAIFA gets the nod. The daughter of Galileo is entitled to have come on a bundle for her run at Salisbury on debut last month and she might represent a bit a value for her powerful Newmarket-based yard.

QUEEN OF SOLDIERS made a very promising start to her career when just touched off in an Ascot maiden over this sort of trip 4 weeks ago and Roger Varian's Ribblesdale entry is fancied to build on that and make another bold bid. Faifa, following her very promising debut fourth at Salisbury, and Lasting Love are others fancied to feature.

Several runners are interesting in this strong-looking maiden. Top of the list is Ribblesdale entry QUEEN OF SOLDIERS.

16:40 Haydock Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having finished fifth in a Group 3 at Goodwood in late August, FOREVER BLUE makes plenty of appeal on her return to action in these calmer waters. Ralph Beckett's filly should take all beating if performing to the same level and she edges the vote over last month's Redcar scorer Not Real. The daughter of Kodiac is heading in the right direction and she isn't taken lightly upped in distance, while any market support for newcomer Tareefa would be interesting.

The market should reveal plenty but Ralph Beckett's FOREVER BLUE possesses much the best form on offer and is taken to make a winning return with her yard going well. Redcar scorer Not Real is next on the list, although newcomers Haute Couture, Winning Point and Tareefa are all in excellent hands and need monitoring in the betting.

Redcar winner NOT REAL is a very bright prospect and is taken to defy a 7lb penalty. Newcomer Winning Point may be the main danger.

17:10 Haydock Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This may be fought out between the three penalised winners in Arnaz, Alfie Boy and WOODLEIGH, with the latter fancied to complete a double. Declan Carroll's inmate opened his account in convincing fashion at Ripon last week and there should be more to come, especially being 3lb well-in under a penalty. The aforementioned Arnaz, who scored a shade cosily at Brighton recently, may give the selection most to think about, while Redcar scorer Alfie Boy must prove his effectiveness on a sounder surface.

WOODLEIGH took his form up a level when opening his account at Ripon and still looks ahead of his mark despite saddling a 6 lb penalty here. Arnaz also arrives on the back of a recent victory at Brighton and is next on the list ahead of handily-weighted Triggerman and Redcar scorer Alfie Boy.

The penalised Woodleigh, Alfie Boy and ARNAZ are all respected but the last-named has less to prove regarding the ground.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
