|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (13/2 -30%) Corinthia Knight |
13/2(-30%) | (6) Corinthia Knight 13/2, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 3/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Respected. It's now 14 outings since his last victory but in good nick; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 -71%) Mark's Choice |
12/1(-71%) | (1) Mark's Choice 12/1, 14/1, first run since leaving Adrian Keatley when fifth of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft) 11 days ago, never nearer. Hinted at revival on yard debut with Pontefract fifth latest; interesting off reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 -25%) Object |
20/1(-25%) | (4) Object 20/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. 22/1, sixth of 11 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good to firm) 5 days ago, hampered. Back up in trip. Arrives on long losing run; not discredited when sixth at Redcar 5 days ago; possibilities. |

6th (2) (4/1 -14%) Giselles Izzy |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (5/4 +44%) Burj Malinka |
5/4(+44%) | (3) Burj Malinka 5/4, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 9/2) 8 days ago, keeping on well. Carries penalty. Shortlist material. C&D winner eight days ago; he's not taken lightly under a 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 -43%) Dodgy Bob |
40/1(-43%) | (8) Dodgy Bob 40/1, 28/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Chester (7.6f, soft) 17 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Back down in trip. Won at Thirsk in September but beat only one at Chester since; needs to bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GISELLES IZZY only went down by a neck when stepping up to class 4 level over C&D last week, and she goes off the same mark. If the quick turnaround doesn't cause her any problems, she could be the one to beat. Gentle Ellen (third) had Mark's Choice (fifth) behind at Pontefract last time and she can confirm her superiority over that rival. Burj Malinka completes the shortlist.
BURJ MALINKA's 3 career wins have all come at this track, including when having 2 lengths to spare over this trip last week, and can defy a 5 lb penalty. Gentle Ellen and Giselles Izzy head the dangers.
Lots with chances and MARK'S CHOICE is taken to build on an encouraging debut fifth for Gemma Tutty and capitalise on a reduced mark.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/8 +31%) Ingleby Archie |
11/8(+31%) | (1) Ingleby Archie 11/8, Lightly-raced colt. 3/1, creditable second of 13 in maiden at Beverley (5f, heavy) 12 days ago. Capable of picking up a little race. Good second in 5f Beverley maiden 12 days ago; consistent and firmly in the picture again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (66/1 -100%) La La Lucrative |
66/1(-100%) | (2) La La Lucrative 66/1, Foaled January 23. €21,000 foal, Profitable colt. Dam 6f winner (including at 2 yrs. 14/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at Catterick (6f, soft) on debut 9 days ago. Others preferred. Beat only one in 5f maiden at Catterick on his debut; he needs to take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -106%) Badosa |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Badosa 33/1, Foaled March 17. £20,000 2-y-o, Mehmas filly. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, sister to smart winner up to 6f Bould Mover. 6/1, fifth of 7 in maiden at this course (6f, good to soft) on debut 7 days ago. May do better. Never-dangerous fifth on her debut in 6f maiden here; this Mehmas filly has lots to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (5/1 -25%) Star Mind |
5/1(-25%) | (5) Star Mind 5/1, Foaled February 28. €32,000 yearling, Advertise filly. Closely related to 7.4f/8.3f winner Zuhair and half-sister to winner up to 9f Gallovie and 5f winner Pink Storm. Third of 7 in minor event (10/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, soft) on debut 19 days ago. May well do better. Green when encouraging debut third at Carlisle; should improve a fair bit; considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WINGED MESSENGER (second) had Ingleby Archie (third) behind on his penultimate start at Beverley and he has put in another solid runner-up effort at Chester since. The son of Postponed looks ready to shed his maiden tag at the fourth time of asking. Star Mind showed more than enough ability on debut when third at Carlisle to suggest a race of this nature should be within reach.
WINGED MESSENGER is the pick on these terms and did well from his draw at Chester 16 days ago. He's preferred to Ingleby Archie and once-raced Star Mind.
Julie Camacho's WINGED MESSENGER was done no favours by the draw when a very good Chester second last time out and can go one better.

2.75/1(+21%) | (2) Zarabanda 2.75/1, Two wins from 6 runs this year, the latest at Ripon in August. Good second of 7 in handicap (7/2) at Leicester (10f, soft) 20 days ago, clear of rest. Up 3 lb but should give another good account. Firmly on the up, excellent Leicester second in her hat-trick bid latest run; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4.5/1 +10%) Fiver Friday |
4.5/1(+10%) | (5) Fiver Friday 4.5/1, Winner at Musselburgh in August. 15/2, very good second of 7 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Hood on 1st time and this Irish raider has to enter calculations. Won at Musselburgh before clear Ayr second 11 days ago; up 2lb but she can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (1.88/1 +58%) Anjo Bonita |
1.88/1(+58%) | (4) Anjo Bonita 1.88/1, Course winner. 11/2, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at York (10.2f, good) 22 days ago, all out. 3 lb rise fair and couldn't rule out. On hat-trick after wins at Hamilton/York; firmly in the picture despite career-high mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2.75/1 -99%) Classic Times |
2.75/1(-99%) | (3) Classic Times 2.75/1, Promising individual. 6/1 and hooded for 1st time, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Sandown (8f, heavy) 12 days ago, forging clear. Raised 11 lb for that but she's in good hands to continue to progress. Easily made winning h'cap debut at Sandown latest; up 11lb; merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (28/1 +15%) Sophiesticate |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Sophiesticate 28/1, 10/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago, needing stronger gallop. No easy task from 3 lb out of the weights. Won at Musselburgh in June but beat only one at Ayr latest; 3lb out of the handicap too. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
CLASSIC TIMES made light work of her opening mark at Sandown in a first-time hood and she should have more to come on only her fifth career start. The three-year-old filly has been hit with an 11lb hike, but she could be up to the task. Zarabanda is in great heart at the moment, as she hasn't finished outside of the first two home on each of her last three outings. Anjo Bonita is seeking her hat-trick and she should mount a bold bid after victory at York.
CLASSIC TIMES made a mockery of her opening mark when making a winning handicap debut in good style at Sandown recently. She's been hit with an 11 lb hike in the weights, but this well-bred filly remains unexposed and may well be equal to the task. The consistent Anjo Bonita took another step forward when bagging a York handicap last month and looks sure to be in the mix, while both Zarabanda and Fiver Friday arrive here in good form, too.
David O'Meara's filly ZARABANDA is on a roll and taken to quickly resume winning ways here on the back of her excellent Leicester second

Course winner. 11/4 and hooded for 1st time, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Ascot (10f, good to firm) 23 days ago, needing stronger gallop. More to come still. Novice form is strong; far from disgraced at Ascot on handicap debut; remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 +5%) Mr Professor |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Mr Professor 10/3, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap (9/1) at Goodwood (9f, soft) 5 days ago, suited by way race developed. Carries penalty. Merits consideration. Comfortable success at Goodwood last Wednesday; good chance under 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 +44%) Baryshnikov |
5/1(+44%) | (4) Baryshnikov 5/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Very good second of 7 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good to soft, 20/1) 4 days ago, slowly away. Looks competitive on form. Slight drop back in distance is a negative, having done his winning at 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (66/1 -560%) Jackhammer |
66/1(-560%) | (9) Jackhammer 66/1, 1 win from 1 run this year. Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap chase (7/1) at Cartmel (17.3f, soft) 35 days ago. Fair on the Flat, won on last Flat run. Sole Flat outing of 2023 resulted in C&D win but this is a better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (17/2 +29%) Pisanello |
17/2(+29%) | (2) Pisanello 17/2, Course winner. Latest win here in July. Bit below form seventh of 15 in handicap (22/1) at Doncaster (8f, good to soft) 16 days ago. Has a record of 2-3 a Hamilton, the two wins over 1m; now goes back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 +0%) Harswell Duke |
22/1(+0%) | (6) Harswell Duke 22/1, Latest win at Doncaster in April. Last of 7 in handicap at Haydock (8f, soft, 5/1) 3 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Something to find on form. Out of sorts since winning the Spring Mile; headgear enlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -88%) Cockalorum |
16/1(-88%) | (3) Cockalorum 16/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Latest win here in August. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to soft, 12/1) 11 days ago. Must improve. Gamely beat Mr Professor over C&D on penultimate start; has a fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (16/1 -33%) Two Auld Pals |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Two Auld Pals 16/1, Course winner. 3 wins from 9 runs this year. Fourth of 7 in handicap at Chester (15.9f, soft, 16/5) 17 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Both course wins came over 1m5f; something to prove back down sharply in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MR PROFESSOR bounced back to form with an impressive victory at Goodwood last week and the four-year-old is hard to oppose on the back of that performance, despite carrying a 5lb penalty. The unexposed Botanical is an obvious threat following his promising handicap debut at Ascot a few weeks ago, while Baryshnikov edges out Cockalorum to be the pick of the remainder.
BOTANICAL would have benefited from a stronger gallop when third on his handicap bow at Ascot last month and can improve past his older rivals, including Mr Professor and Baryshnikov.
Judged on his novice form, BOTANICAL (nap) still looks nicely treated and is well worth another chance. Mr Professor is feared most

1st (3) (4/1 -33%) Arkenstaar |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Arkenstaar 4/1, Course winner. Creditable fifth of 13 in handicap (11/1) at Ayr (8f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Has fallen to a workable mark. Interesting off a handy mark back at Hamilton; has form figures of 211 here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/1 +45%) Banner Road |
11/1(+45%) | (5) Banner Road 11/1, Winner at Ayr in July. 14 lengths seventh of 8 to Mac Ailey in handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 11/2) 7 days ago. Others more persuasive. Good second over C&D in August; lesser efforts here since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +27%) Shine On Brendan |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Shine On Brendan 4/1, 3-time C&D winner. Disappointed last twice but goes well here and must enter calculations. Form dipped sharply the last twice but this return to Hamilton is a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (3/1 -9%) Mac Ailey |
3/1(-9%) | (7) Mac Ailey 3/1, Posted season's best when taking 8-runner handicap over C&D (good to soft, 9/4) 7 days ago. Can race off same mark and holds obvious claims. Escapes a penalty for last week's Class 6 C&D win; strong chance off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (28/1 -75%) Retirement Beckons |
28/1(-75%) | (6) Retirement Beckons 28/1, 4-time C&D winner. Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap (14/1) at Ayr (8f, good to soft) 10 days ago, not ideally placed. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Held in this grade last time and he's still seeking first win above Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/4 +54%) Yeeeaah |
11/4(+54%) | (4) Yeeeaah 11/4, Belatedly off the mark in 12-runner handicap at Carlisle (7.8f) last month and backed that up with creditable second in seller at this course (9.2f, good to soft) since. Respected. Ran well behind higher-rated rival in seller here eight days ago; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 -122%) Dream Final |
10/1(-122%) | (2) Dream Final 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 1/2 and blinkered for 1st time, respectable third of 6 in maiden at Newcastle (8f) 21 days ago, slowly away. Makes turf/handicap debut. More required. Turned over at short odds last time but may progress now handicapping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MAC AILEY was an easy three-length winner of an apprentice race over C&D a week ago and the seven-year-old clearly sets the standard without a penalty here. Dream Final has shown promise on his last couple of starts and it would be no surprise to see him go well on his handicap bow. Others to note are Retirement Beckons and Banner Road.
It's hard to look past MAC AILEY who carries no penalty for last week's comfortable C&D success. Yeeeaah and Shine On Brendan rate the principal dangers.
Preference is for ARKENSTAAR, who has a progressive record at Hamilton and returns here off an attractive mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EMERALDS PRIDE completed the hat-trick when just prevailing by a nose at Redcar, and she was only raised 3lb for that success. The daughter of Pride Of Dubai seems to be just doing enough in her races, which is making it difficult for the handicapper to catch up. Speedacus was victorious in this grade at Leicester recently and he ought to go close once again, while High Opinion also looks a solid contender.
The thriving EMERALDS PRIDE completed the hat-trick by the narrowest of margins at Redcar 2 weeks ago, but she came clear with the runner-up that day so can defy a 3 lb rise. Last week's Leicester winner Speedacus is feared most under a penalty ahead of One Last Hug.
Michael Dods's filly EMERALDS PRIDE hasn't looked back since refitted with cheekpieces and can defy a 3lb rise for her gutsy Redcar win

2nd (4) (10/1 +0%) Ebony Maw |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Ebony Maw 10/1, One win from 25 Flat runs. Very good 2¼ lengths third of 7 to Ask Peter in handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 12/1) 8 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Minor place money is probably the best he can hope for. On losing run but shaped nicely behind Ask Peter over C&D last week; 2lb lower; contender. |

3rd (8) (17/2 -42%) Rory The Cat |
17/2(-42%) | (8) Rory The Cat 17/2, Latest win at Beverley in July. 11/2, creditable 5½ lengths second of 7 to Lunacy in handicap at this course (11.1f, good to soft) 8 days ago, no match for winner. 16/1(+36%) | (6) Golden Valour 16/1, Temperamental sort. 16/1(-33%) | (1) Graces Quest 16/1, 6/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Back up in trip and has fallen to a workable mark and not without hope. Chance on this year's best but she's been in and out since her Carlisle win in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (9/2 -29%) Ask Peter |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Ask Peter 9/2, Career best when winning 7-runner handicap (11/2) at this C&D (good to soft) 8 days ago, having run of race. Carries penalty. Now 2-2 here but 5 lb rise could leave her vulnerable. Won 2 of her last 3, both over C&D; more needed to defy a penalty in this field though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/4 -20%) Lunacy |
9/4(-20%) | (3) Lunacy 9/4, Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at this course (11.1f, good to soft, 3/1) 8 days ago by 5½ lengths from Rory The Cat, forging clear. Obvious claims under a penalty. 2 course wins in 2023, powering clear of Rory The Cat last week; big chance under penalty. |

9th (9) (22/1 -22%) Lochnaver |
22/1(-22%) | (9) Lochnaver 22/1, C&D winner. Last of 10 in handicap (33/1) at Ayr (13.1f, good to soft) 10 days ago, lost all chance at start. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. All three wins have come here; quiet since June's success & faster ground preferable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Jaminoz struck with ease over 1m1f around here last week and he warrants plenty of respect, with only 5lb extra to carry. However, this represents a big step up in distance, so the vote instead goes to ASK PETER, who had Ebony Maw behind when victorious by a length over C&D last time. She can go in again. Another last-time-out winner Lunacy completes the shortlist.
If in the same mood as when scoring here eight days ago, LUNACY will take plenty of stopping under a penalty. Jaminoz was also a decisive course winner on his latest start and he is a greatly respected under a penalty, too. Graces Quest is dangerous to discount off this reduced mark, while Rory The Cat was no match for Luncay here last time but he's pretty consistent on the whole and should give another good account.
Some in-form sorts on show and LUNACY, who won easily here eight days ago, can prove too strong for Ebony Maw.
Ths is the racecard key.
