12/1(+33%) | (7) Bawaader 12/1, Eighth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f, 10/1) 6 days ago, not knocked about. Hard to recommend on recent form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Turned out again quickly after a narrow defeat at Ayr on Friday, ZUMAATY can gain compensation over a C&D he ran well over on his penultimate outing. The five-year-old is now 4lb below his last winning mark, which should be enough to see off the likes of the recent Ayr winner Cosa Sara and Mac Ailey, who wasn't beaten far over further at Beverley last Wednesday.
ZUMAATY went close at Ayr on Friday and has obvious claims if in the same form back at a track where he's twice gone well previously. Mac Ailey is feared most ahead of Banner Road.
Turned out quickly, ZUMAATY can gain compensation for his unlucky defeat at Ayr. Mac Ailey is second choice

2/1(+43%) | (2) Amancio 2/1, Thrice-raced gelding. Third of 12 in maiden (18/1) at Chester (7f, soft) 10 days ago, not knocked about. Should have more to offer. Learning gradually, most recently third at Chester; could well take another step forward. |

3rd (4) (7/2 +50%) Emu War |
7/2(+50%) | (4) Emu War 7/2, Twice-raced filly. 13/8, much better effort when third of 6 in maiden at this C&D (good to soft) 42 days ago. Likely to improve further and one to consider. Finished third over C&D six weeks ago; likely to progress further; respected. |

150/1(-127%) | (7) Somekindawonderful 150/1, Last of 11 in minor event (100/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, good) on debut 25 days ago. Inauspicious debut at Carlisle last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NOMINAL EVENT may have gone off at a big price on her debut at Chester recently, but she outran those odds when staying on late for third after being slowly away. She is bound to improve for that effort and looks the one be with, ahead of the likes of Amancio and Emu War, who ran well when third over C&D last month. A half-brother to the Group 2-placed Audience, Esquire is an intriguing newcomer for the David O'Meara team.
NOMINAL EVENT is the obvious one after a promising debut Chester third when outrunning her odds. Emu War is next best on form with more to come and Esquire is the interesting newcomer.
An open-looking maiden as most of the runners, including the newcomers, can be viewed positively. The percentage call goes to EMU WAR.

1st (3) (2.75/1 +8%) Midnight Lir |
2.75/1(+8%) | (3) Midnight Lir 2.75/1, Winner at Beverley in August. Fourth of 7 in nursery (6/1) at Chester (5.1f, soft) 9 days ago, slowly away. Continues in form and expected to be bang there. Return to stiffer 5f looks a plus; consistent sort who should give his running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3.5/1 +56%) Ganesha |
3.5/1(+56%) | (2) Ganesha 3.5/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in July. 9/1, sixth of 7 in nursery at Chester (5.1f, soft) 9 days ago, not clear run. 2-2 here, including a nursery win off just 1lb lower; interesting back at Hamilton. |

14/1(-75%) | (6) Princess Alex 14/1, Much improved when scoring with something to spare at Pontefract in July. Fourth of 7 in minor event at this C&D (good to firm, 13/2) 20 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Pontefract success remains her standout piece of form; not solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 +13%) Sankari |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Sankari 7/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in June. 17/2, third of 5 in nursery at Chelmsford City (5f) 23 days ago. Ran creditably in AW nursery last time; has won over C&D; solid chance back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-14%) | (4) Instant Recall 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1, last of 6 at Ripon (5f, good) 27 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Claims on his Super Sprint effort. Chance partly depends on how well he responds to new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (17/2 -55%) Chumbaa |
17/2(-55%) | (7) Chumbaa 17/2, Course winner. Latest win at Ripon in August. Poor when fifth of 6 in nursery at this course (6f, good to firm, 7/2) 20 days ago. Must bounce back. Raced 14 times already; form dipped here on latest start when bidding for hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/2 -10%) Union Island |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Union Island 11/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 16/1, fourth of 8 in minor event at Ripon (6f, good) 37 days ago. Worth a look now handicapping having gone well here (6f, decent form) on debut. Has strong 6f form; shapes as if this drop to 5f will suit on nursery debut; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A comfortable winner over C&D in June, SANKARI has run with credit twice since. Conditions look set to be in his favour on this occasion and he could bounce back to winning form. The consistent Midnight Lir, who has been in the first two on four of his last six outings, can give him the most to think about. Course-winner Chumbaa and Instant Recall are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
MIDNIGHT LIR continues in form and is taken to resume winning ways. Union Island and Install Recall are both of interest now going handicapping and warrant a look.
The vote goes to interesting nursery debutant UNION ISLAND (nap). His main threats may be C&D winners Ganesha and Sankari.

1st (3) (9/2 +40%) Where's Jeff |
9/2(+40%) | (3) Where's Jeff 9/2, Course winner. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (9f, good, 13/2) 25 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Not discounted. The only contender who wasn't in the first two on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 -5%) Restorer |
7/2(-5%) | (5) Restorer 7/2, 13/2, won 8-runner handicap at Chester (12.3f, soft) 9 days ago. Remains well treated on old form, so obvious claims if he can back that up. Regained the winning thread last time; can remain competitive back up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 -17%) Ayr Poet |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Ayr Poet 7/2, Course winner. 3 wins from 9 runs this year. Career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Ayr (8f, good to soft, 4/1) 3 days ago, getting first run. Carries penalty. Should go well again. Won at Ayr on Friday; major player provided he's as effective back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/2 -57%) Detective |
11/2(-57%) | (1) Detective 11/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 6/1, good second of 11 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good) 24 days ago, never nearer. Worth a chance to capitalise on a handy mark. Consistent in defeat this term; solid chance off a workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/4 +18%) Dundory |
9/4(+18%) | (2) Dundory 9/4, Latest win at Doncaster in April. 13/2, good second of 12 in handicap at Goodwood (11.2f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Very much one to consider. Back in better form last time; respected, especially if ground is slow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Ayr Poet arrives in fine form after holding on to win over a mile at Ayr on Friday but, given his keen nature, the eight-year-old may be worth taking on now upped to 1m4f. With that in mind, DETECTIVE could prove the solution to this puzzle. Dianne Sayer's gelding was runner-up at Carlisle earlier this month and a 1lb increase in the ratings looks more than fair. Restorer and Dundory also arrive in fine fettle and complete the shortlist.
DETECTIVE is on an appealing mark and shaped well in a slightly stronger contest than this at Carlisle last time, so he gets the marginal vote in a race where a case can be made for every runner. Ayr Poet has been in a rich vein of form for a while, so he's considered a threat, while Restorer is hard to rule out.
Topweight DETECTIVE is taken to get the better of fellow 7yo Dundory in this veterans' handicap.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 -56%) Sacred Falls |
3.5/1(-56%) | (4) Sacred Falls 3.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 30/100, respectable second of 5 in minor event at Musselburgh (5f, soft) 8 days ago. Back up in trip. Shaped well in a handicap here on penultimate outing and mark still looks fair. Close second over C&D two starts ago (sole handicap attempt); possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 +0%) Jack Of Clubs |
5/1(+0%) | (6) Jack Of Clubs 5/1, 4/1, improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 38 days ago. One to consider. In-form contender; off the mark in AW contest last month; may improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3.5/1 -40%) Glendown |
3.5/1(-40%) | (1) Glendown 3.5/1, 15/2, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Chester (6.1f, soft) 10 days ago. Has a career-high mark to contend with now, but was pretty impressive last time. Successful in two of his last three attempts over 6f; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (25/1 -150%) Protest Rally |
25/1(-150%) | (5) Protest Rally 25/1, Winner at Southwell in May. 15/2, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW). Off 95 days. First run for yard after leaving Ed Walker. Remains with some potential, so worth monitoring in the betting on debut for new stable. Open to further progress back at 6f; interesting recruit for new connections. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (8/1 +56%) Wurkin Ninetofive |
8/1(+56%) | (7) Wurkin Ninetofive 8/1, 12/1 and hooded for 1st time, bit below form fourth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, good to firm) 33 days ago. Others make more appeal. Exposed maiden but best handicap effort came over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (18/1 -13%) We'renotreallyhere |
18/1(-13%) | (2) We'renotreallyhere 18/1, Latest win at Thirsk in May. Last of 11 in handicap (66/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, good to firm) 33 days ago. Has work to do. 2-2 on heavy; will be interesting when back on deep ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SACRED FALLS was turned over at shorts odds when runner-up in novice company at Musselburgh eight days ago. However, the Dark Angel filly lost little in defeat that day and a breakthrough success could be in the offing now returning to handicap company. Glendown posted a career-best performance when winning over 6f at Chester recently, but a 7lb rise in the ratings may leave Tim Easterby's gelding vulnerable, with fellow last-time-out winner Jack Of Clubs taken to emerge as the chief threat.
SACRED FALLS arrives on the back of a string of seconds and she probably has a bigger effort in the locker, so she's preferred to last-time-out winners Glendown and Jack of Clubs
Another chance is given to SACRED FALLS, who may show progress back over this C&D. Glendown is second choice.

1st (8) (13/2 +54%) Jaminoz |
13/2(+54%) | (8) Jaminoz 13/2, Placed 4 times in July/August. His run of good form came to a halt here last time but he is reunited with Hollie Doyle for the first time since gaining his only win at Ayr last autumn. Sole start under Hollie Doyle resulted in Ayr win last October; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/8 +39%) Can't Stop Now |
11/8(+39%) | (2) Can't Stop Now 11/8, Latest win at Carlisle (9f) in August. 3/1, good second of 8 at Chester (1½m, soft) 9 days ago. Back down in trip. Can make presence felt again. In good form; scored over 1m1f at Carlisle two starts ago; respected back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/1 +7%) Temper Trap |
7/1(+7%) | (3) Temper Trap 7/1, Five-time C&D winner, including the middle leg of a hat-trick in July/August. Not at best when seventh of 8 over 1m at Carlisle 12 days ago but capable of bouncing straight back returned to this venue. One to consider back at Hamilton, especially if the ground is soft; 5-9 here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 -82%) Global Spirit |
5/1(-82%) | (1) Global Spirit 5/1, Course winner. Back to winning ways in 12-runner handicap at Pontefract (1m, good to soft) on Thursday. Looks in a his best form for a while and may be up to defying a 4 lb penalty. 1m winner at Pontefract on Thursday; major player, provided he stays this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +10%) Leap Year Lad |
9/2(+10%) | (6) Leap Year Lad 9/2, Successful over 1m here in May and added to tally over 10.5f at Haydock in July. Good second back at Haydock last time. Needs considering. Consistent 3yo; has won at this venue; good second at Haydock last time; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (14/1 -17%) The Navigator |
14/1(-17%) | (7) The Navigator 14/1, On a good mark but has been operating below his best in recent outings, with slowish starts not helping. His last 2 Flat wins have come under Paul Mulrennan, though. Not solid on 2023 form and this back drop back in trip isn't sure to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 -155%) Farhhfromforgotten |
28/1(-155%) | (5) Farhhfromforgotten 28/1, Fair maiden for Karl Burke, including second in 9f Musselburgh handicap in June. Presumably failed to stay when a remote fifth over 11.5f at Haydock when last seen in July. First run for new yard. 0-6 for Karl Burke but best effort came over this distance; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (80/1 -142%) Maraakiz |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Maraakiz 80/1, 125/1, last of 8 in handicap at Ayr (7f, good to firm) 39 days ago. Up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Linda Perratt. Watching brief is advised unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Form has deteriorated badly; best watched on debut for third stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Temper Trap likes it here, with five course and distance wins, but he still needs a career best off this mark and may have to settle for a place. Global Spirit carries a 4lb penalty after winning by less than a length at Pontefract last week and that may make an eighth career success more difficult, and preference lies with LEAP YEAR LAD. Caught late on over further at Haydock last month, the three-year-old may do better over this trip and maintain his unbeaten Hamilton record.
GLOBAL SPIRIT showed there's still plenty of life in his 8-y-o legs when successful at Pontefract last week and might be able to strike again while the iron's hot. Iain Jardine's Can't Stop Now arrives on the back of 2 good efforts and is second choice ahead of Leap Year Lad, who was successful here back in May.
Several runners are similarly appealing. Slight preference is for CAN'T STOP NOW, ahead of Leap Year Lad.

12th (13) (22/1 -10%) Nodsasgoodasawink |
22/1(-10%) | (13) Nodsasgoodasawink 22/1, Twenty four runs since her last win in 2021. Only ninth of 10 in handicap (40/1) at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft) 9 days ago so others appeal a lot more. Engaged 2.50 here Sunday. Losing run goes back 2 years; minor form of late but kept on in 3rd over 5f here yesterday. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Without a recent winner in this line-up it may pay to side with DANDYS GOLD, whose stable have been in among the winners in recent weeks. She has been dropped another 2lb after her seventh at Carlisle last time, but seems better with the cut in the ground that can be expected here. Willingly is an obvious danger after her Ffos Las second as she debuts for Mark Usher, while Woobay drops in class and could go well.
CHRISMOLTISANTI starts out for Adrian Nicholls on a tempting mark and is chanced in this low-grade handicap. Woobay is respected down in class and Earn Your Stripes could also go well.
Maiden WOOBAY may take advantage of this drop in class and get off the mark. Willingly is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
