1st (1) (2.5/1 +58%) Two Auld Pals |
2.5/1(+58%) | (1) Two Auld Pals 2.5/1, Finally off the mark in a 17f Carlisle handicap 4 weeks ago. Ought to remain competitive after just a 2 lb nudge. Off the mark over 2m1f at Carlisle last time; down in trip; worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.33/1 -11%) Sameem |
3.33/1(-11%) | (4) Sameem 3.33/1, Course winner who finally snapped a long losing run when pulling 4 lengths clear at Ripon (1½m, good to firm) a week ago. Good chance under a 4 lb penalty if turning up in similar form. Won first race since July 2019 when 4l winner at Ripon last week; chance with 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/1 -43%) Tafsir |
5/1(-43%) | (9) Tafsir 5/1, Placed for the fourth time in her last 5 starts when second of 7 in handicap at Ayr (13f, firm) 16 days ago. Likely to be in the shake-up again. Ran well on first try at this trip when second at Ayr last time; worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (7.5/1 +53%) Aighear |
7.5/1(+53%) | (8) Aighear 7.5/1, Course winner last summer but went backwards from her reappearance when a well-held fifth of 6 in handicap at Ayr (15f, good to firm) 24 days ago. Both wins have been with give in the ground; poor effort latest (fast ground); rain a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (22/1 -57%) Trailblazer |
22/1(-57%) | (3) Trailblazer 22/1, 32 lengths sixth of 8 to the reopposing Two Auld Pals in handicap at Carlisle (17f, good to soft, 8/1) 27 days ago. Down in trip. Tongue strap on first time. Maiden; good 3rd over 2m two runs back; well beaten either side of that; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (9/1 -20%) Bouncing Bobby |
9/1(-20%) | (5) Bouncing Bobby 9/1, Back to winning ways in 1½m handicap here 3 weeks ago. Helped by being held up in a strongly-run race but has only been nudged up 1 lb. Back to form when scoring over 1m4f here three weeks ago; a chance off 3lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (8.5/1 -70%) Sir Joseph Swan |
8.5/1(-70%) | (7) Sir Joseph Swan 8.5/1, Dual winner over 1¾m for Amanda Perrett last year. New stable in good form ahead of this first outing for 8 months. Hooded first time. Enters calculations. Two wins over 1m6f last term; bought for 10,000gns in February; chance on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (20/1 -67%) Typewritten |
20/1(-67%) | (2) Typewritten 20/1, Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (2m) when last seen in March. Back on turf after a break with cheekpieces also refitted. Capable off this mark. Has run on AW since August; placed all 4 starts on turf; off since March; headgear back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (12/1 +25%) Great Colaci |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Great Colaci 12/1, 17/2, good third of 8 in handicap at this course (1½m, good to firm) 8 days ago. Bit more needed. Well handicapped; best run in 2023 when third here last week; more needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SAMEEM won readily under Emily Roberts at Ripon last week and with a Listed course success under his belt as well, the New Approach gelding could successfully defy a 4lb penalty. There are certainly no stamina concerns for Two Auld Pals, who struck over 2m1f at Carlisle earlier this month, and he must enter calculations. Bouncing Bobby won here last time and has top amateur Alice Stevens aboard, while Great Colaci and Sir Joseph Swan add further spice to the race.
If SAMEEM can reproduce the form he showed when pulling clear in the closing stages at Ripon last week he might be able to follow up under a 4 lb penalty. Saint Lawrence's Wokingham win at the weekend is a fine example of how Archie Watson can improve new recruits and Sir Joseph Swan is feared most on his first start for the trainer. The consistent Tafsir may prove best of the remainder.
On his debut for Archie Watson, SIR JOSEPH SWAN is given the vote ahead of last week's easy Ripon winner Sameem.

1st (1) (1.62/1 +14%) Ninety Nine |
1.62/1(+14%) | (1) Ninety Nine 1.62/1, 10/1, promising fourth of 9 in maiden at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) on debut 23 days ago. Sure to improve. Sound debut fourth at Wetherby (5.5f); improvement likely; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2/1 -6%) Bellarchi |
2/1(-6%) | (3) Bellarchi 2/1, Fair form. 7/1, good third of 14 in novice at York (5f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Should go well but might be vulnerable to an improver. Exposed filly; third over 5f at York last time; should give another good account.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -9%) Blue Moon Baby |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Blue Moon Baby 12/1, 15/2, green when fourth of 5 in C&D maiden (firm) on debut 15 days ago, not knocked about. May do better. Soldier's Call filly who was a fair fourth of five over C&D on debut; improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (2.75/1 +0%) Princess Alex |
2.75/1(+0%) | (2) Princess Alex 2.75/1, 40,000 gns Dark Angel filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Sandie's Dream. From a good 2-y-o stable and market confidence would look significant. Dark Angel filly who cost 40,000gns as a yearling; one to take seriously on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (14/1 +44%) Nana's Ancestors |
14/1(+44%) | (5) Nana's Ancestors 14/1, €18,000 2-y-o by Starspangledbanner. Dam 1m winner out of winning half-sister to Prix Jean Prat winner Olden Times. Probably best watched on debut. Bought for 18,000euros in May; dam a 1m AW winner; likely to improve for the run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The betting could be informative here, with Karl Burke's racecourse debutant Princess Alex and the 69-rated Bellarchi flying the flag for Nick Bradley Racing, but NINETY NINE may master both. Although slowly away and then carried left late on, there was a lot to like about Richard Fahey's filly's debut performance to take fourth at Wetherby and she seems sure to improve for that experience.
NINETY NINE shaped well on her Wetherby debut and is taken to improve past the more established Bellarchi. A market move for Karl Burke newcomer Princess Alex would also bring her firmly into the reckoning.
Having shaped well on her debut, NINETY NINE is taken to get off the mark. The newcomer Princess Alex is the other to consider.

1st (6) (7.5/1 +25%) Hard Solution |
7.5/1(+25%) | (6) Hard Solution 7.5/1, C&D winner. Twenty five runs since last win in 2021. 11/2, below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good) 8 days ago. Others make more appeal. Last win was over 6f here in 2021; hasn't been in best of form but drops in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.2/1 +29%) Imperial Khan |
3.2/1(+29%) | (4) Imperial Khan 3.2/1, Winner at Beverley in May. 8/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good) 20 days ago, not ideally placed from poor draw. Should bounce back and makes appeal in a weak event. Inconsistent but capable (5f Beverley winner two runs back); chance if on a going day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1.5/1 +25%) Rajmeister |
1.5/1(+25%) | (1) Rajmeister 1.5/1, Won 7-runner handicap at Redcar (5f, good to soft, 6/4) 56 days ago. Remains fairly treated on old form and should go well again. Has won two 5f handicaps this season; up 6lb from last time; should go well; rain a bonus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.33/1 -48%) Stay Smart |
3.33/1(-48%) | (2) Stay Smart 3.33/1, Latest win at Ayr in June. Creditable third of 6 in handicap at Ayr (5f, firm, 9/2) 16 days ago. Likely to be on the premises again. Both wins over 5f on fast ground, the latest at Ayr two runs back; 3lb higher; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -67%) Montelusa |
20/1(-67%) | (3) Montelusa 20/1, Unreliable type. First run since leaving Tim Easterby when fifth of 6 in seller (14/1) at Thirsk (6f, good) 20 days ago. Hard to fancy on the back of a lacklustre display. Claimed for £6,000 when 2nd two runs back (5f); poor run on stable debut; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/1 +67%) Burtonlodge Beauty |
11/1(+67%) | (7) Burtonlodge Beauty 11/1, C&D winner. One win from 25 Flat runs. 80/1, last of 8 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good) 36 days ago. Plenty to prove at present. Exposed; only win was over C&D on soft last August; poor form recently and others stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RAJMEISTER had a couple of subsequent winners behind when scoring a shade comfortably at Redcar last month and a 6lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Stay Smart arrives following a string of solid performances and he is likely to be in the shake-up once again, while Imperial Khan has a squeak with Laura Coughlan back on board.
Having scored at Beverley in May, IMPERIAL KHAN was undone by the draw at Thirsk last time, so he's well worth a chance to get back on track in a thin race. Last-time-out winner Rajmeister is an obvious player and Stay Smart can't be dismissed.
With the recent rain having been in his favour, RAJMEISTER can win his third race of the year with Stay Smart his main danger.

1st (4) (0.29/1 +53%) Godwinson |
0.29/1(+53%) | (4) Godwinson 0.29/1, Promising type. Third of 15 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good to firm, 9/1) on debut 14 days ago, slowly away. Entitled to build on that and holds strong claims. Promising start when third in maiden at Nottingham, going on well at finish; hard to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (2.75/1 -38%) Bosc Girl |
2.75/1(-38%) | (6) Bosc Girl 2.75/1, Posted fair form in both starts thus far, latest when second of 9 in maiden (5/1) at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm) 39 days ago. Likely contender. Placed on both her starts, runner-up in 1m2f Ripon maiden on latter occasion; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 -54%) Streetzoffilly |
10/1(-54%) | (7) Streetzoffilly 10/1, Zoffany filly. Half-sister to 1m/8.3f winner Alpha Cru. Dam unraced out of useful 1½m winner Doe Ray Me. Market check advised on debut. Zoffany filly who appeals on paper so this newcomer needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (250/1 -400%) Star Of Markinch |
250/1(-400%) | (2) Star Of Markinch 250/1, Twice-raced mare on Flat. 250/1, eighth of 13 in maiden at Catterick (12.1f, good). Off 13 months. Down in trip. Hard to recommend. Has offered little over hurdles and in two Flat runs; she's hard to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (150/1 -127%) Carnival Times |
150/1(-127%) | (1) Carnival Times 150/1, Twice-raced filly. 200/1, ninth of 11 in maiden at Carlisle (9f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Up against it. Only poor form shown on her two runs to date; she needs to take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (125/1 -150%) Zandora |
125/1(-150%) | (3) Zandora 125/1, 50/1, last of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 13 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Robyn Brisland. Best watched. Low-mileage 4yo who cut little ice for Robyn Brisland; plenty more required for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (150/1 -127%) The Darien Scheme |
150/1(-127%) | (5) The Darien Scheme 150/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 150/1, last of 7 in maiden at Ayr (8f, good to firm) 24 days ago. One for handicaps down the line. Well held on all his three outings; it's easy to look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GODWINSON made a pleasing introduction when third over the extended mile at Nottingham and he appears to be the pick of this field. William Haggas' runner will know more for that debut experience after being slowly away, and he shaped as if this slight step up in trip will be a positive. Bosc Girl might pose the biggest danger after a consistent start to her career, and a win looks to be just around the corner. Newcomer Streetzoffilly heads the remainder.
This can go to GODWINSON, who should have learnt plenty from his recent encouraging Nottingham debut. Bosc Girl looks the obvious danger on form with newcomer Streetzoffilly best of the rest.
William Haggas's GODWINSON shaped well when a debut Nottingham third and with a fair bit of improvement on the cards is the one to beat

1st (6) (6.5/1 +7%) Count D'orsay |
6.5/1(+7%) | (6) Count D'orsay 6.5/1, Forty runs since last win in 2020. 5/1, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, soft) 9 days ago, conceding first run. Did well in the circumstances there and makes plenty of appeal from reduced mark. It's now 40 runs since his last victory but good Thirsk 2nd nine days ago; in the shake-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4.5/1 -35%) Jm Jungle |
4.5/1(-35%) | (3) Jm Jungle 4.5/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 17/2, respectable fourth of 14 in handicap at Epsom (5f, good to firm) 26 days ago, slowly away. One to consider. C&D scorer who has made the frame on all his four starts this season; can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2/1 +11%) Abate |
2/1(+11%) | (2) Abate 2/1, C&D winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. Latest win at Haydock in June. 6/1, creditable third of 15 in handicap at York (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago, first home in group. Makes plenty of appeal. Won over C&D and at Haydock before first in his group when York 3rd latest; player. |

4th (4) (12/1 -20%) Water Of Leith |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Water Of Leith 12/1, 12/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at this course (6f, firm) 15 days ago, nearest finish. Could get involved if the race is run to suit. Best effort this term when third here 15 days ago; form franked so enters calculations. |

5th (5) (14/1 -100%) Good Luck Fox |
14/1(-100%) | (5) Good Luck Fox 14/1, 10/1, very good second of 7 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good to firm) 27 days ago, no match for winner. Should go well again. Back on track when second in 5f Catterick handicap 27 days ago; one for the shortlist. |

6th (1) (2/1 +50%) Live In The Moment |
2/1(+50%) | (1) Live In The Moment 2/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2020. 7/2, bit below form third of 6 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 3 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Leniently treated on pick of form. Winless since 2020 but he arrives in decent nick, third at Windsor 3 days ago; in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Despite just six runners heading to post, it is still a very difficult puzzle to solve, but the nod goes to ABATE. The Adrian Nicholls-trained seven-year-old was denied a hat-trick over 6f at York, but he still ran a fine race to finish third and the drop back to 5f could be ideal. Live In The Moment commands respect after a sound third over 6f at Windsor earlier in the week, while Jm Jungle should also be thereabouts.
ABATE has been in terrific form lately and shaped better than the result when third at York, so he gets the nod over Count d'Orsay, who is handicapped to win and shaped best at Thirsk last time. Good Luck Fox is another one to consider in what looks a competitive affair.
C&D scorer ABATE (nap) came home first in his group when an excellent third at York and can resume winning ways off the same mark.

1st (2) (2.5/1 +38%) Ajyad |
2.5/1(+38%) | (2) Ajyad 2.5/1, Found a little more improvement when taking 5-runner maiden at Bath (10.2f, firm) last month and should have more to offer now sent handicapping. Unexposed; winner of a Bath maiden last time; feasibly treated on h'cap debut; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -125%) Dreams Adozen |
9/1(-125%) | (4) Dreams Adozen 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in handicap (7/1) at Leicester (11.8f, good to firm) 31 days ago, having run of race. Hopes of improvement may rest on first-time blinkers. Closely matched with Ajyad on AW form; below par on turf debut latest; blinkers now tried. |

3rd (1) (6/1 +50%) Iconique |
6/1(+50%) | (1) Iconique 6/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. 10/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, soft) 10 days ago, not clear run. Others preferred. An occasional winner; on a good mark but needs to improve on her latest sixth at Carlisle. |

4th (5) (2/1 -23%) Lochnaver |
2/1(-23%) | (5) Lochnaver 2/1, Back to winning ways when making all in 8-runner handicap at this course (12.1f, good to firm) 8 days ago, readily. Just 2 lb higher now and holds strong claims. Unpenalised for her easy win here 8 days ago (third course win) and an obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3/1 +25%) Tiamat |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Tiamat 3/1, Lightly-raced winner. 15/2, respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good) 44 days ago. Not out of things. Best runs over 7f and 1m on Tapeta; pulled hard over 1m2f latest so 1m3f not sure to suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Ajyad shed her maiden tag at Bath at the third time of asking and has to be of interest now making her handicap bow, but she could be up against it because LOCHNAVER struck by four lengths, despite being eased down, over a furlong further here last week. The five-year-old escapes a penalty and can go in again off just a 2lb higher rating. Tiamat could improve for this step up in distance so she shouldn't be dismissed lightly.
Course specialist LOCHNAVER hasn't been harshly treated for her comfortable success here last week and can follow up. Ajyad is going the right way and is much respected.
The unexposed Bath maiden winner \AJYAD\p is taken to score on her handicap debut with the unpenalised Lochnaver her main danger.

6.5/1(+7%) | (4) Caribbean Sunset 6.5/1, Creditable third of 8 in handicap (13/2) at Thirsk (5f, soft) 9 days ago, never nearer. Back up in trip, which promises to suit. Winless since his debut but arrives in good nick; considered with return to 6f a plus. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Wee Fat Mac has been reliable on the all-weather since his last turf appearance, with the latest of his efforts coming when fourth at Southwell over 5f. However, GISELLES IZZY has been just as consistent and her turn has looked near for a while, so she is fancied to better her third-place finish over C&D last time to score. Sharrabang and Bonito Cavalo are others to consider.
The removal of cheekpieces looks a good move from connections of BONITO CAVALO and he's capable of opening his account from this modest mark. You can set your watch by Giselles Izzy at this level so she's of interest, along with Kats Bob.
Lots with chances but dual C&D scorer KATS BOB signalled he's ready to go in again when an encouraraging C&D 5th so gets the verdict.
Ths is the racecard key.
