Mixed pedigree but no surprise if he's ready to fire first time up. Unraced dam from talented family (half-sister to Dubai World Cup hero Monterosso); chance. |

2nd (1) (11/2 -100%) Death Or Glory |
11/2(-100%) | (1) Death Or Glory 11/2, Foaled March 14. €45,000 yearling, Kodiac colt. Brother to 2-y-o 5f winner Lady Fanditha and half-brother to 2-y-o 5.5f/6f winner She's A Gambler. 3rd (3) (9/1 -38%) Lucius Aurelius |
9/1(-38%) | (3) Lucius Aurelius 9/1, Foaled April 16. 40,000 gns yearling, Zoustar colt. Half-brother to several winners, including 2-y-o 5f winners Well Done Fox and Excellently Poised (scored on debut). Half-brother to four winners; trainer also runs the twice-raced East Tyrone; watch betting. |

4th (2) (5/1 -25%) East Tyrone |
5/1(-25%) | (2) East Tyrone 5/1, Twice-raced colt. 13/2, sixth of 8 at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Debut run at Doncaster was more promising. The only one with the benefit of experience and the likely return to slow ground may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 -65%) Mr Cool |
11/2(-65%) | (5) Mr Cool 11/2, Foaled May 12. 40,000 gns yearling, Kodiac colt. Brother to useful 5f/5.5f winner Wild Majesty and smart winner up to 6f Frenetic, and half-brother to smart US winner up to 7f Big Handsome. Likely sort on paper. 40,000gns yearling; bred to be useful and could have a part to play on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
East Tyrone disappointed on fast going at Beverley last time, although better can be expected here and he's preferred to stablemate Lucius Aurelius. The remaining trio are all newcomers to note, with MR COOL taken to edge out Death Or Glory and Milford in a tight contest, given that Charlie Johnston's colt is a full-brother to a couple of Listed winners.
This can go to a newcomer, with DEATH OR GLORY taken to give Richard Fahey another winner first time out. Milford should be ready to roll and the betting will be informative.
Richard Fahey saddled a 2yo newcomer to win at the last meeting here on May 17 and DEATH OF GLORY is taken to make a winning start.

1st (3) (4/1 +27%) Two Auld Pals |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Two Auld Pals 4/1, C&D winner. 7/2, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, soft) 25 days ago, left poorly placed. Did well here last summer for previous trainer and respected. Won twice over C&D last summer and could have a big say now back on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 -122%) Ebony Maw |
10/1(-122%) | (6) Ebony Maw 10/1, 4/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, won 7-runner handicap at Ayr (13.1f, good to soft) 30 days ago, digging deep under good tactical ride. Can go well again if allowed a lead. Won at Ayr last time and can play another leading role up just 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 +45%) Navarre Express |
11/2(+45%) | (1) Navarre Express 11/2, Much improved when making a winning handicap debut at Ffos Las (11.9f, good to soft) in September. Off 8 months, last of 6 in handicap (14/1) at this course (12.1f, good) 12 days ago. Others more persuasive. No return to form on recent reappearance but remains lightly raced and is not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 -50%) Jaminoz |
9/1(-50%) | (7) Jaminoz 9/1, Course winner. Off 11 weeks, creditable third of 8 in handicap at this course (11.1f, good to soft, 10/1) 24 days ago, running on late. Return to this sort of trip will suit. Staying-on third over 1m3f here last time and today's extra yardage could be in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -23%) Spanish Hustle |
8/1(-23%) | (5) Spanish Hustle 8/1, Course winner. 13/2, fifth of 8 in handicap at this course (11.1f, good to soft) 24 days ago. One to consider. No threat here last time but won three times here last year and is not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (3/1 +14%) Bustaam |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Bustaam 3/1, Winner at Doncaster in March. 13/2, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Haydock (11.8f, good to soft) 4 days ago. Player if stamina lasts out. Fair third at Haydock on Saturday and might not be far away if this doesn't come too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (5/1 -43%) Solid Silver |
5/1(-43%) | (4) Solid Silver 5/1, Placed in 2 bumpers. 22/1, eighth of 10 at Salisbury (9.9f, heavy) 13 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. No surprise to see her do better now for in-form yard. Listed bumper third who could take a big step forward on this Flat handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EBONY MAW scored over this trip at Ayr last month when fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time. He made all to beat a subsequent winner on that occasion and can defy a 2lb rise with the promise of more come. Bustaam showed signs of a return to form when third at Haydock and can go well again, while Two Auld Pals returns to the Flat having won over hurdles in March and is preferred to stablemate Jaminoz.
SOLID SILVER was placed in a couple of decent bumpers at the end of last year and could do better now handicapping at a low level for Sir Mark Prescott. Two Auld Pals and Ayr-winner Ebony Maw are feared.
The Sir Mark Prescott-trained SOLID SILVER has travelled all the way from Newmarket and has potential off her opening mark.

1st (2) (8/11 +34%) Contacto |
8/11(+34%) | (2) Contacto 8/11, Promising sort. Winner at Doncaster in April. 10/3, good second of 9 in handicap at Chester (12.3f, good) 20 days ago, staying on having not been ideally positioned. Winner that day has struck again since and he has strong claims. A win and a close second from his first two handicaps; rock-solid candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 +27%) Victory Shout |
11/2(+27%) | (1) Victory Shout 11/2, Made it third time lucky in novice company at Carlisle (1m, good to firm) in September. Well-backed 15/2, seventh of 9 in hot handicap at Newmarket (10f, good to firm) on return 42 days ago. This is easier up in trip. Impressive at Carlisle last September but heavy defeats the next twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 -50%) Judgementofsolomon |
3/1(-50%) | (4) Judgementofsolomon 3/1, 7/4, improved when winning 4-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) on return 30 days ago, staying on well. Makes turf debut and more to come. Improved for step up in trip on h'cap debut; in excellent hands to continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -167%) Love Safari |
12/1(-167%) | (3) Love Safari 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/10, second of 5 in maiden at Newcastle (12.4f) on return 26 days ago. Well bred and should progress now handicapping. Much better when going close in AW maiden on reappearance; could go well on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Judgementofsolomon has been raised 7lb for winning a lower grade contest at Wolverhampton, while Doncaster winner Contacto went close to landing a double when just missing out at Chester last time. The latter looks sure to make his presence felt once again, but LOVE SAFARI arrives on the back of a promising reappearance at Newcastle when just failing to catch the winner. Further progress can be expected now handicapping for the first time and he gets the vote.
CONTACTO emerged from Chester with a huge amount of credit, chasing home a thriving one from a poor position, and he can go one better now. Judgementofsolomon looks set for a profitable campaign for Sir Mark Prescott after his winning reappearance at Wolverhampton and he's the obvious danger.
The Sir Mark Prescott-trained JUDGEMENTOFSOLOMON is one from one in handicaps and this well-bred 3yo could have lots more to offer.

5/1(-25%) | (5) Catherine Chroi 5/1, C&D winner. 5 wins from 7 runs this year. 5/2, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Leicester (6f, good) 18 days ago. Clearly still in great heart having been placed really well and another good run is on the cards. Five wins from her last six starts; 5lb higher than last time but may well go in again. |

2nd (4) (12/1 -71%) Cold Stare |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Cold Stare 12/1, Latest win at Thirsk in April. 9/2, below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Haydock (6f, heavy) 32 days ago. Won at Thirsk on reappearance and subsequent defeat possibly came too soon. |

6/4(+50%) | (2) Slainte Mhath 6/4, 3-time C&D winner. Creditable third of 21 in handicap (17/2) at York (6f, good) 4 days ago. Having a good year and can go well again. Two-time C&D winner who has been admirably consistent in defeat this season; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (40/1 -82%) Ramon Di Loria |
40/1(-82%) | (8) Ramon Di Loria 40/1, Below form fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 10/1) 102 days ago. Below last winning mark but not shaping on recent starts as though another win is imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 +10%) Lahab |
9/1(+10%) | (1) Lahab 9/1, 16/1 and hooded for 1st time, sixteenth of 20 in handicap at York (7f, good) 12 days ago. Others have less to prove but the drop back in trip could suit this headstrong sort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (13/2 -63%) Havana Rum |
13/2(-63%) | (7) Havana Rum 13/2, 12/1, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 19 days ago, well on top finish. Respected up 5 lb. Something to spare at Ripon latest; could give another good account now 5lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (17/2 -55%) Iris Dancer |
17/2(-55%) | (6) Iris Dancer 17/2, Career best when winning 5-runner handicap at this C&D (good, 7/2) 12 days ago, digging deep. Lots to like again. Six-time C&D winner, the latest 12 days ago, and that form has been franked; up just 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (12/1 -33%) Emily Post |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Emily Post 12/1, 12/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good to firm) 18 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Could improve for recent reappearance and of interest on last season's best efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Catherine Chroi has won five of her seven starts since joining Iain Jardine and is a key player. However, the mare is upped in class here and a new mark of 73 demands yet another personal best. With that in mind, a chance if taken on LAHAB, who is open to a great deal of improvement on just his third start over this trip. Last-time-out winners Iris Dancer and Havana Rum also command respect.
CATHERINE CHROI continues to thrive and looks weighted to strike once more under her rider (2-2 on her). Iris Dancer boasts a tremendous record here and can go well again. Slainte Mhath is another to consider in a trappy contest.
This could go to C&D specialist IRIS DANCER, whose recent win here has been given a firm boost by the clear runner-up.

1st (4) (15/8 -25%) Arkenstaar |
15/8(-25%) | (4) Arkenstaar 15/8, 4-time course winner. 2/1, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 24 days ago (second won well next time). Good shout again. Gained fourth course win over C&D latest; form franked so merits serious consideration. |

4/1(-33%) | (2) Vellner 4/1, Gambled-on 11/8, won 6-runner handicap at Ayr (8f, good) 27 days ago. Still well treated on old form up 3 lb. Capitalised on much-reduced mark in Ayr h'cap 27 days ago; up 3lb but not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (25/1 +0%) Epona Pas |
25/1(+0%) | (7) Epona Pas 25/1, Off 11 months, 20/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good) 15 days ago, slowly away and refusing to settle. Off 11 months before ninth of 11 in 1m2f Ayr handicap 15 days ago; others are preferred. |

4th (3) (10/3 +33%) Black Friday |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Black Friday 10/3, Good ½-length third of 7 to Arkenstaar in handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 17/2) 24 days ago. Not taken lightly. Good third over C&D 24 days ago; he ought to be in the shake-up off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +33%) Shine On Brendan |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Shine On Brendan 4/1, 3-time C&D winner. 5½ lengths sixth of 7 to Arkenstaar in handicap (9/2) at this C&D (good to soft) 24 days ago. Yet to hit top form in three runs this season, beating only one over C&D 24 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 +0%) Lunacy |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Lunacy 14/1, Course winner. 11/1, last of 8 in handicap at this course (11.1f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Back down in trip. Dropped to a handy mark. Course scorer but last over 1m3f here latest; more required despite falling in weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (50/1 +0%) Mrs Happy |
50/1(+0%) | (8) Mrs Happy 50/1, Hooded for 1st time, tenth of 11 in handicap at this course (6f, good, 50/1) 12 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Offered little both runs for her new yard; she's hard to make a case for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Already a four-time course winner, ARKENSTAAR held on gamely to score over C&D 24 days ago and his will to win earns him the vote off just 1lb higher. Black Friday was third in that race and has to be feared given his was less than a length behind the selection at the line. Recent Ayr winner Vellner also needs serious consideration despite being 3lb higher.
ARKENSTAAR has course form figures of 21111 and beat a subsequent winner here last time. He can go in again. Ayr-scorer Vellner is feared most ahead of Black Friday.
Michael Dods's course specialist ARKENSTAAR (nap) can record a fifth win here. The form of his recent C&D success has been franked.

4/1(-60%) | (3) Ledger 4/1, 14/1, won 10-runner handicap at this course (8.3f, good) 12 days ago by length from We Still Believe, well positioned. Respected again up 4 lb. Beat We Still Believe over 8.3f here last time and he's respected back up in trip. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 +20%) Dogged |
6/1(+20%) | (1) Dogged 6/1, Successful 4 times in apprentice/amateur riders' handicaps last year. Ninth of 12 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good, 12/1) 19 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Tongue strap back on, cheekpieces back on. Given a chance by the handicapper. Four wins in 2023 but he's lost his way in last five runs and needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (6/1 -71%) Sea Girt |
6/1(-71%) | (6) Sea Girt 6/1, 15/8 and tongue strap on for 1st time, bit below form seventh of 12 in minor event at Newcastle (10.2f) 109 days ago, missing break. Should have races in him from this mark. Has had wind surgery but he's 0-8 and has been hard to predict; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (18/1 -80%) Lady Lavina |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Lady Lavina 18/1, 18/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 36 days ago. Has beaten only four rivals in her four runs this year and has a lot to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
LEDGER (first) and We Still Believe (second) were the first two across the line in a similar race over the extended mile here 12 days ago and, given the former wasn't showing any signs of stopping, he can cement his authority and follow up off just a 4lb higher mark. There could also be more to come from Sea Girt, who reverts to turf on a handy mark and warrants close inspection in the betting on his first start back after wind surgery.
WE STILL BELIEVE is taken to reverse recent course placings with Ledger, with this longer trip in his favour. Dogged lurks on a good mark back down in grade and could be ready for a revival in re-fitted headgear.
Ledger beat WE STILL BELIEVE here 12 days ago but the latter may be able to turn the tables over this longer trip.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
