17:15 Goodwood Handicap (Class 5) 6f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CALAFRIO won a classified event with plenty in hand at Thirsk a fortnight ago and the Phillip Kirby-trained filly could play another leading role if she handles this return to handicap company. Silent Flame has some C&D experience and can also go well given that she is on a good mark in comparison to her peak form. Lahina Bay and Media Guest complete the shortlist.

Rod Millman's SILENT FLAME has had a good spell since blinkered and gets the nod. Papabella saw off a next-time-out winner when off the mark at Ffos Las at the end of July and is second choice ahead of northern raider Calafrio.

Silent Flame looks set to go well again but BATED BREEZE has hinted at better on a couple of occasions and he gets the nod.

17:50 Goodwood Stakes (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Things didn't pan out as hoped for MOLLIE FOSTER when she contested a Listed race at Deauville three weeks ago but she can get back on track with her sights lowered here. The daughter of Acclamation, who bettered her commendable second over this C&D on debut by landing a novice at Haydock last month, has plenty of scope for progression and tops the shortlist. Fellow previous winners Queen All Star and Sweet Sonata look the pick of the opposition.

There was plenty to like about the way QUEEN ALL STAR went about things at Windsor and she's preferred to fellow previous winner Mollie Foster. Empowered Queen ran green when seemingly fancied for her recent Lingfield debut and it wouldn't be a surprise to see her prove a different proposition now.

Mollie Foster and Sweet Sonata are respected but QUEEN ALL STAR looks open to the greater improvement.

18:20 Goodwood Handicap (Class 4) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PASHA emerged as the ready winer of a fillies maiden at Nottingham last week and, turned out under a 6lb penalty, the daughter of Advertise is an obvious candidate to follow up. Imitate represents powerful connections and is an appealing alternative to the selection on her handicap debut. Dramatic Effect, a C&D winner in June, is another notable contender given this represents a drop in class for her, while Crystal Casque is also considered.

A competitive fillies' event, with the Sir Michael Stoute-trained handicap newcomer IMITATE given the nod having progressed with each qualifying run. Crystal Casque is thrice the age of her opposition but proved herself back on a fair mark when second at Sandown last time and she's also shortlisted, with another handicap newcomer Pasha also respected.

Imitate and Faro Di Notte can improve but MALLAVELLY can bounce back from her low-key effort last month.

KATE THE COOK appeared to relish the step up to this trip when scoring gamely at Ffos Las last month, pulling clear with the runner-up. Now making her handicap debut off what looks a workable mark, she gets the vote to land the spoils for the in-form Ralph Beckett team. Crystal Flyer found only one rival too good when second over 1m4f at Ascot when last seen and she should be on the premises once more nudged up just 1lb. D Day Arvalenreeva is also a key player.

D DAY ARVALENREEVA has come close on both her starts this term and remains fairly treated. She makes plenty of appeal. Kate The Cook and Crystal Flyer look the likeliest dangers.

Preference is for KATE THE COOK (nap) who is on the upgrade and she can continue to progress now handicapping.

19:20 Goodwood Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Richard Hughes has his string in fine form at present and his MISS ANYA edges preference. She was sporting blinkers for the first time (retained) when finishing runner-up over this trip at Newmarket recently and, nudged up 1lb, another bold showing should be forthcoming. Cluedo catches the eye off just 3lb higher than her last winning mark and, on her first start since wind surgery, she is respected most of the remainder. Four Adaay completes the shortlist on the back of a solid runner-up effort at Yarmouth earlier this month.

Preference is for MISS ANYA, who got back on track at Newmarket earlier this month and remains feasibly treated. Four Adaay and The Defiant should also go well in an open-looking contest.

A wind op since she was last in action could see CLUEDO bounce back to form. Kiss And Run is feared most.

Beautiful Crown must enter calculations upped 4lb for a recent victory over 1m2f at Chelmsford, but his tendency to break slowly tempers enthusiasm somewhat. SHALFA impressed when making all over 1m2f at Brighton on her penultimate start and, after shaping well again when runner-up at Windsor last month, she gets the vote to land the spoils. This step back in trip can help Bletchley Storm be seen to better effect and she completes the shortlist.

BEAUTIFUL CROWN has been in a rich vein of form since joining the Jack Jones yard and can defy to top weight to notch his fourth win for his new trainer. Pride of Nepal shouldn't be inconvenienced by the drop in trip and also merits respect, with Sea of Charm completing the shortlist.

The vote goes to PRIDE OF NEPAL, who holds solid claims on recent form and is a C&D winner. Beautiful Crown is feared most.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
