1st (1) (0.13/1 +28%) En Avant |
0.13/1(+28%) | (1) En Avant 0.13/1, Improved form when making a winning stable debut fitted with a tongue tie at Worcester in July. This looks a very good follow-up opportunity under a penalty. Made all to win 2m Worcester maiden by 7l on stable debut; has excellent chance here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 +0%) Izzy's Grey |
6/1(+0%) | (4) Izzy's Grey 6/1, €10,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Fingal Bay. Displayed ability when third starting out at Bangor 11 days ago. Beaten about 27l when third of six on recent debut but open to improvement today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (50/1 -25%) Out For The Count |
50/1(-25%) | (3) Out For The Count 50/1, Soundly beaten in 2 Irish bumpers for Philip Fenton and yet to make an impact for current yard. Visor replaces cheekpieces. Struggled off lowly marks in three handicaps in the spring; up against it again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -38%) Grand Auld Tune |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Grand Auld Tune 22/1, €21,000 3-y-o, Milan gelding. Brother to useful hurdler Happy Jacky, and half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Dreadnot. Dam unraced. Fourth sole start in point bumpers and looked in need of the experience on last month's hurdles debut. Not beaten far in a point bumper in May but always behind on hurdle debut in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EN AVANT got off the mark on his first attempt for Olly Murphy at Worcester in July and this appears to be an excellent opportunity for the seven-year-old to back that effort up, with a 7lb penalty unlikely to stop him. Izzy's Grey finished third on his debut at Bangor and is entitled to benefit from a step up in trip, while Grand Auld Tune appeals most of the remainder.
EN AVANT immediately improved for the switch to Olly Murphy when successful at Worcester last month and this looks a gilt-edged follow-up opportunity. Izzy's Grey can chase the selection home.
It's very hard to see beyond EN AVANT, who made all to win in pretty good style on his stable debut in July.

1st (4) (1.88/1 +0%) He Is A Cracker |
1.88/1(+0%) | (4) He Is A Cracker 1.88/1, Has returned from a 15-month absence with 3 creditable placed efforts this summer. runner-up back at chasing at Uttoxeter (3m) 5 weeks ago. Likely to be in the shake-up again. Chased home next-time-out winner last time and has now been placed in all three chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3.5/1 +42%) Janeslittlevoice |
3.5/1(+42%) | (6) Janeslittlevoice 3.5/1, Poor maiden hurdler but did show she can be competitive from her basement mark when runner-up on her 21.5f course chase debut last week. Needs to show she can build on that now stepping back up in trip. Second here (2m5f) on recent chase debut but value of that form is open to question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/1 +38%) Reign Suepreme |
10/1(+38%) | (3) Reign Suepreme 10/1, Point winner but is a long-standing maiden under Rules. Was close up when unseating 3 out at Stratford (27.5f) last week but he's no good thing to show up in similar form this afternoon. Placed in June but two non-completions have followed and he's now 0-14 over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 -186%) Chitchat Sally |
20/1(-186%) | (5) Chitchat Sally 20/1, Winning Irish pointer. Has failed to make a significant impact over fences for her new yard lately, but it's possible her stamina was stretched over 27.5f at Stratford last time and her mark continues to fall. 0-9 under rules but ran better than bare form suggests when sixth at Stratford recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (3.5/1 +30%) Our Brother John |
3.5/1(+30%) | (2) Our Brother John 3.5/1, Showed a bit when reaching the frame in a pair of novice hurdles in July and this winning pointer may do better now handicap chasing over further. Also tongue tied first time. Interesting runner. Winning pointer; made the frame in two novice hurdles; chase/handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (4.5/1 -64%) Champ Royal |
4.5/1(-64%) | (1) Champ Royal 4.5/1, Opened his account over hurdles at Worcester (23f) in July. Well held third at Bangor since but starts out over fences in a winnable contest and Harry Cobden does the steering. Came good over hurdles in July; contender if he takes well to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HE IS A CRACKER was no match for the winner at Uttoxeter last time, but it was still a very encouraging effort in second and he won't mind the step back up in distance. The seven-year-old is allowed to compete off the same rating and he could be the one to beat. Champ Royal has Harry Cobden booked for his debut over fences and he is one to watch out for in the market, while Janeslittlevoice has improved with each run this year and should also be considered.
HE IS A CRACKER has run well to be placed on all 3 attempts over fences and is the percentage call, although chase newcomers Champ Royal and Our Brother John, who has a point win to his name, could pose big threats if taking to this new discipline.
Winning pointer OUR BROTHER JOHN began his rules career with two encouraging hurdle runs and can make a winning handicap/chase debut.

1st (4) (1.25/1 +34%) Gambie Tiep |
1.25/1(+34%) | (4) Gambie Tiep 1.25/1, Poor hurdler/chaser for Sarah-Jayne Davies but has looked an entirely different proposition for this yard, scoring over fences at Uttoxeter and hurdles at Perth before excuses next 2 starts. Stamina a slight concern here (may prove best around 2m) but worth chancing off a handy-looking mark. Started off for yard with two easy wins; beaten fav twice since but remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (1.5/1 +45%) Duke Of Luckley |
1.5/1(+45%) | (2) Duke Of Luckley 1.5/1, Successful on chase debut at Catterick (2m) in November. Back on form when placed twice in this headgear at Southwell (2m/20.5f) this summer and should go well again. Chased home bang-in-form rival at Southwell in July; major player in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3.5/1 -40%) Young Wolf |
3.5/1(-40%) | (1) Young Wolf 3.5/1, Multiple hurdles/chase winner who has dropped a long way in the weights and confirmed previous promise when winning weak event at Market Rasen. This tougher down in trip but he remains well treated on old form. Finally turned things around with front-running win off much reduced mark last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
YOUNG WOLF made all the running to score by over two lengths at Market Rasen last time and a 5lb rise may not be enough to prevent the veteran from going in once more. The main threat might be Gambie Tiep, who has been sent off favourite in each of his last four outings since joining the Ben Pauling stable and he could continue his solid form. Princess Midnight ran too bad to be true at Worcester last time and she could bounce back.
GAMBIE TIEP had excuses on his last 2 starts and remains of interest off his current mark despite his stamina being a slight concern here. Young Wolf has re-found some form after an absence and is feared most.
It's hard to predict whether his revival will continue but YOUNG WOLF was very useful in his prime and may follow up his recent win.

1st (2) (1.62/1 +64%) Thibault |
1.62/1(+64%) | (2) Thibault 1.62/1, Dual-purpose performer (C&D winner) who wasn't disgraced when fourth over hurdles at Uttoxeter (20f) in July, his effort flattening out late on. Midfield back on the Flat at Salisbury (14.2f) 3 weeks ago and back on a potentially lenient mark returned to timber/ re-united with Jamie Moore. Not at best on the Flat or over hurdles this year but lurks on a good mark; can't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (0.73/1 +20%) Forget The Way |
0.73/1(+20%) | (4) Forget The Way 0.73/1, Steady improver (on back of wind op) over hurdles, confirming previous promise when landing 8-runner novices' handicap at Worcester (2m) 4 weeks ago, asserting final 100 yds. Remains lightly raced in handicaps and possibilities from 6 lb higher. Off the mark with clearcut success at Worcester last month and open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/1 +36%) Paros |
7/1(+36%) | (3) Paros 7/1, Fairly useful form when winning twice in 2020/21. Pulled up next 4 starts though and not convinced in a couple of starts over fences upon joining present stable this summer. Good deal to prove back over hurdles despite operating from career-low mark. Ran okay in two chases for new yard this summer; still well handicapped for hurdle return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FORGET THE WAY gained compensation for his previous creditable efforts in defeat when landing a breakthrough success at Worcester last month and Alan King's gelding is fancied to make light work of a 5lb rise in the ratings. Nibras Gold found only a subsequent winner too strong at Newton Abbot in late-july and is feared most off only 1lb higher, ahead of Thibault, who races off a 7lb lower mark than his last success in this sphere.
FORGET THE WAY has improved of late, confirming previous promise when running out a good winner at Worcester (2m) 31 days ago, and he gets the nod to defy a 6 lb rise. Nibras Gold and Thibault can emerge as the chief threats.
Seemingly back in form over fences for a new stable this summer, PAROS (nap) can be a more potent force on this return to hurdling.

1st (2) (5/1 -67%) Fort De L'Ocean |
5/1(-67%) | (2) Fort De L'Ocean 5/1, Winless since landing a Uttoxeter handicap hurdle back in June 2021 but clearly retains his share of ability, making the frame both starts since returning from a 17-month absence in the spring. Likely to give another good account. Returned from long absence with two pleasing runs in the spring; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (66/1 +56%) Onnaroll |
66/1(+56%) | (10) Onnaroll 66/1, Has shown precious little in 8 starts over hurdles and looks set for another struggle from 12 lb out of the handicap. Yet to show any worthwhile form after eight hurdle runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (6.5/1 +7%) Our Dylan |
6.5/1(+7%) | (6) Our Dylan 6.5/1, Remains a maiden following 20 attempts under Rules and while his latest fourth in an 11-runner Uttoxeter handicap (2½m, good to soft) was a creditable effort, he's likely to find one or two too good once again. 0-24 under all codes but ran fairly well in July; could have a say here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (16/1 +20%) Dancing Dani |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Dancing Dani 16/1, Point winner who has posted a couple of decent efforts in defeat under Rules, not least when runner-up off an 11 lb higher mark in a Ffos Las handicap chase in October. However, she's hard to warm to judged on efforts in this sphere since returning to action in June. Generally very disappointing since 66-1 second on rules debut in 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (14/1 +30%) African Sun |
14/1(+30%) | (9) African Sun 14/1, Belied odds of 40/1 at Uttoxeter last summer but rarely threatened since and, not for the first time, he looked a little reluctant when asked to make his effort back at that venue in July. Others preferred. Caused 40-1 shock at Uttoxeter last summer but overall profile not convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (5/1 +44%) Hill Station |
5/1(+44%) | (5) Hill Station 5/1, Modest hurdler for Gary Moore and well held on first hurdles start for this yard at Uttoxeter in May. On the upside, he performed with credit in a handicap on the Flat recently and each-way chance if able to build on that back in this sphere. Ran quite well on AW last month but was beaten 40l+ in two spring handicap hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (1.38/1 -25%) Nadim |
1.38/1(-25%) | (1) Nadim 1.38/1, Improved model this summer, again equipped with cheekpieces when completing the hat-trick at Worcester. Didn't travel through the race at all well but nevertheless put in good late work when a close third at Cartmel (17.2f, soft) recently and the change of headgear (visored) here looks a good move. Three wins in cheekpieces in July; close third off this mark last weekend; now visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 -56%) Callin Baton Rouge |
14/1(-56%) | (3) Callin Baton Rouge 14/1, £30,000 buy after finishing second in her sole Irish point and some encouragement when third on hurdling debut at Cartmel. However, failed to build on that next time and was tailed off when falling at the last on subsequent chase debut at Worcester. Unexposed under rules but was well beaten when falling on chase/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (14/1 +58%) Allez Allez Dancer |
14/1(+58%) | (8) Allez Allez Dancer 14/1, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles and didn't fare much better when pitched into a handicap on the back of a wind op at Newton Abbot last time. Just a respectable fifth of eight on handicap debut in July; needs a bigger run here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NADIM found his winning spree coming to an end when finishing third at Cartmel on Saturday, having ran in snatches, with a first-time visor looking a good move by connections here. The Highland Reel gelding could regain the winning thread if travelling with more verve and gets the nod. Fort De L'Ocean wasn't beaten far when coming home in fourth over 2m at Huntingdon in May and may give the selection most to think about now up in trip, while it's too early to write off Callin Baton Rouge on the return to hurdling.
It could be worth chancing HILL STATION, who admittedly possesses a rather chequered profile but he put in a good shift when fourth on the Flat at Kempton recently and has been eased 5 lb in the weights since his latest start in this sphere. Nadim has been in fine form this summer and, likely to benefit from the fitting of a visor, he is feared most ahead of Fort de L'Ocean.
He made Bradley Harris work pretty hard at Cartmel on Saturday but progressive 4yo NADIM is the most obvious answer here.

1st (5) (0.5/1 +32%) Horizon D'Or |
0.5/1(+32%) | (5) Horizon D'Or 0.5/1, First run since leaving Neil Mulholland when second of 8 from out of the weights in handicap hurdle at Bangor (23f, good, 17/2) 11 days ago, pulling well clear with thrown-in winner. Should be able to go one better. Effectively 8lb lower than when clear second at Bangor recently; obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/1 -71%) Punches Cross |
6/1(-71%) | (2) Punches Cross 6/1, Useful handicap chaser at best for Joseph Patrick O'Brien and best effort since joining current yard when third at this course 8 days ago. Well treated if he can build on that. Stayed on for close third of six over 2m5f here recently; tries a new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (22/1 +12%) Redbridge Rosie |
22/1(+12%) | (3) Redbridge Rosie 22/1, Hasn't progressed over hurdles and is likely to need this first run for 6 months, so others make more appeal. 0-6 over hurdles and not seen since pulled up in February; others are more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 +56%) Meechlands Magic |
11/1(+56%) | (4) Meechlands Magic 11/1, Poor maiden hurdler who was last seen finishing a remote fourth at Ffos Las on chasing debut 10 months ago. Hard to imagine he'll feature. Ran well for a long way on chasing debut in October; this is his first start since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5.5/1 -57%) Fine By Me |
5.5/1(-57%) | (1) Fine By Me 5.5/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (23f, good, 16/5) 28 days ago. Still early days and probably has a bigger effort in him. Good second at Bangor last month, after a layoff; major player off same mark here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (50/1 +67%) The Swede |
50/1(+67%) | (6) The Swede 50/1, No sign of ability over hurdles to date. Best watched again. Beaten about 63l when 100-1 for last month's handicap debut at Worcester (2m7f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HORIZON D'OR lost little in defeat when finding the progressive Slate Lane too hot at Bangor last Monday and Adam West's six-year-old is hard to oppose now racing off an 8lb lower mark. Fine By Me returned to form with a solid second-placed effort at that same venue earlier in August and shouldn't be far away, while Punches Cross has enough stamina in his pedigree to suggest that he can have a say in proceedings too.
HORIZON D'OR showed much improved form when second from out of the weights on his debut for this yard at Bangor 11 days ago and a repeat of that sort of performance should be enough for him to go one better. Fine By Me made a pleasing return at the same course and looks the main danger.
After finding only the short-odds favourite too strong at Bangor recently, HORIZON D'OR is effectively 8lb lower here.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
