1st (5) (1.1/1 -51%) Rocco Royale |
1.1/1(-51%) | (5) Rocco Royale 1.1/1, Shirocco gelding who has improved with each run, finishing with running left when third in 15-runner maiden at Ludlow (15.8f) 41 days ago. Seems sure to progress again, especially now upped in trip.
2nd (6) (2.75/1 +31%) Scene One |
2.75/1(+31%) | (6) Scene One 2.75/1, Third in a well-contested Newbury novice on his debut in March and filled same position in a similar event at Lingfield on his return. However, went backwards at Leicester and stopped as if all wasn't right when pulled up at Doncaster last time. Needs to get back on track after a break.
3rd (2) (2.5/1 +17%) Double Click |
2.5/1(+17%) | (2) Double Click 2.5/1, Flemensfirth gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler College Oak. Dam (b99), bumper winner, half-sister to triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate. Unplaced all 3 starts in Irish points (latest Oct 2022) but has joined a respected yard ahead of Rules debut and needs taking seriously.
4th (1) (28/1 -75%) Chef Bogo |
28/1(-75%) | (1) Chef Bogo 28/1, Brother to fairly useful hurdler Blacko and French 2¼m hurdle winner Jedno but made an unpromising start to his career (hooded) in a bumper at Exeter 14 months ago and not seen since.
|PU| (3) (25/1 +24%) Modern Monarch |
25/1(+24%) | (3) Modern Monarch 25/1, Has hinted at ability in a Ffos Las bumper/novice hurdle but probably won't be of interest until handicaps.
|PU| (4) (125/1 -150%) Muvvers Money |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Muvvers Money 125/1, Universal gelding. Dam winning pointer. Best watched unless betting suggests otherwise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DOUBLE CLICK, who is a half-brother to a hurdles winner over this trip and is out of a half-sister to the unforgettable Best Mate, looks worth chancing in an ordinary-looking event. He debuts under Rules at a realistic level and could make an immediate impact for an in-form yard. Rocco Royale is improving and completes the shortlist alongside Scene One, who may be better than he was able to show last time.
ROCCO ROYALE is going the right way and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark with further improvement anticipated over this longer trip. Double Click was unplaced in 3 Irish points but has joined a respected yard and needs taking seriously on his Rules debut, especially if the market speaks in his favour. Scene One returns from a break with something to prove but isn't completely dismissed based on his earlier promise.
Scene One sets the form standard but he comes here under a cloud and ROCCO ROYALE has the potential to improve past him anyway.

1st (3) (1.25/1 +29%) Hector Jaguen |
1.25/1(+29%) | (3) Hector Jaguen 1.25/1, Maiden Irish pointer who made the frame on first 2 attempts in this sphere. Unseated mid-race at Plumpton latest but looks one of likelier contenders here.
2nd (4) (3/1 +10%) Shaw's Cross |
3/1(+10%) | (4) Shaw's Cross 3/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (17f, good to soft) in January and posted solid fourth over same C&D next time. Rare poor effort latest and likely to bounce back here.
3rd (5) (8/1 +43%) Ben Brody |
8/1(+43%) | (5) Ben Brody 8/1, Winning hurdler/chaser but yet to fire this term and is at the veteran stage now. 1 lb out of the handicap.
4th (2) (8/1 -33%) Blacko |
8/1(-33%) | (2) Blacko 8/1, Dual juvenile hurdle winner in 2019/20 who only needed to match pick of his form when landing a weak 3-runner Leicester maiden chase (15.9f) in February. Folded tamely at Hereford since, though, and bit to prove now.
|PU| (1) (4.5/1 -100%) Ballingers Corner |
4.5/1(-100%) | (1) Ballingers Corner 4.5/1, Picked up for £50,000 after winning sole start between the flags and showed fair winning form over hurdles for Nicky Henderson subsequently. Hindered by mistakes on chase/yard debut at Ludlow last month but is in good hands and must enter calculations. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SHAW'S CROSS has gone well at this course before and looks worth chancing in what is likely to be a tactical contest. He should have little to fear from marginally stepping back up in trip on forecast going that should ideally suit. Blacko is dangerous to underestimate despite a poor showing last time out, while the well-handicapped Ben Brody is not dismissed.
HECTOR JAGUEN is still low mileage and gets the nod in a race which may not take a great deal of winning. Ballingers Corner will be dangerous if improving her fencing.
Not much has gone to plan for BALLINGERS CORNER since her winning hurdle debut but it might pay to give her another chance here.

Gio's Girl |
(4) (6.5/1 +28%)6.5/1(+28%) | (4) Gio's Girl 6.5/1, Winning pointer who hasn't stood much racing under Rules and she's offered little in 3 starts upon returning from a 2-year absence this campaign. Best watched.
1st (1) (1.88/1 -25%) Somespring Special |
1.88/1(-25%) | (1) Somespring Special 1.88/1, Runner-up sole start in points and gradual progress in novice hurdles, finishing respectable third (in first-time tongue tie) at Wincanton (21.4f) 5 weeks ago. Feasible to think she can do better again now handicapping. Down in trip.
2nd (2) (4/1 -14%) Mistral Nell |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Mistral Nell 4/1, Bumper winner who boasts a mixed record over hurdles, taken off her feet early and ultimately never dangerous in a Fakenham maiden hurdle (2m) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces go on returned to handicaps but she is bred to do better over longer trips.
3rd (3) (4.5/1 +50%) Millies Mite |
4.5/1(+50%) | (3) Millies Mite 4.5/1, Maiden who ran best race on these shores (granted an uncontested lead) when third in a C&D handicap back in August but proved to be a disappointment at Newton Abbot (16.7f) a month later and off since. Others make more appeal.
4th (5) (3.33/1 -21%) Yesnosorry |
3.33/1(-21%) | (5) Yesnosorry 3.33/1, Not much in the way of promise first 4 starts over hurdles but more like it equipped with first-time tongue tie when second in 7-runner Plumpton handicap (15.9f) 2 weeks ago, rallying from 2 out and finishing with running left. Good claims with likelihood of more to come. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having won a bumper on her racecourse bow last season, MISTRAL NELL is the only one that has previously won a race under Rules and she edges the nomination on account of her good rapport with Bryony Frost. Her latest third behind a couple of unexposed individuals was a respectable performance. Yesnosorry improved with a tongue-tie (retained) fitted last time and looks the chief threat, while Somespring Special is also respected.
YESNOSORRY offered much more than previously over hurdles when runner-up at Plumpton recently and, with that effort suggesting there could yet be more to come at this sort of level, she earns the vote to build on that and come out on top. Handicap debutante Somespring Special and Mistral Nell are feared in that order.
This looks good for handicap debutante SOMESPRING SPECIAL (nap), who comes here after two very promising 2m5f runs at Wincanton.

1st (2) (3.33/1 +39%) Astromachia |
3.33/1(+39%) | (2) Astromachia 3.33/1, Useful handicapper on Flat and bright start over hurdles following lengthy absence, landing Uttoxeter maiden (2m) in January. Bit better than result (looked second best for long way) when fourth in 2m Sandown handicap latest. Considered.
2nd (3) (1.25/1 +38%) Monjules |
1.25/1(+38%) | (3) Monjules 1.25/1, Bidding for a C&D hat-trick and to make it 4-5 since joining Harry Fry. A further 6 lb rise demands another career best but he could well be capable of it.
3rd (1) (4/1 +50%) Red Windsor |
4/1(+50%) | (1) Red Windsor 4/1, Fair form when placed on all 4 bumper outings and made a winning start to his hurdle career in a 19f course novice in October. Good second over C&D latest. Opening mark demands more of him but he is respected as an unexposed sort.
4th (5) (4/1 +33%) Saligo Bay |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Saligo Bay 4/1, Won 2m Lingfield handicap hurdle in November (second past post but awarded race after suffering interference). The handicapper has looked in charge in his 2 outings since, though.
5th (6) (25/1 +0%) No Tackle |
25/1(+0%) | (6) No Tackle 25/1, Just modest in bumpers but showed much improved form to get off the mark at the second attempt over hurdles in a heavy-ground Lingfield maiden (19.5f) in December. Has struggled in 2 handicaps since, though. Drops back in trip in a bid to get back on track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Red Windsor bumped into an improver when filling the runner-up spot here in February and he could be fairly treated from an opening mark of 121, but marginal preference is for the hat-trick seeking MONJULES. The five-year-old has thrived in the care of Harry Fry, winning three of his four starts for the yard, and his latest 6lb rise in the handicap might not be enough to halt his progression. Gardener is another to consider.
MONJULES can pull out a bit more and make it 4 wins in only 5 starts since joining the Harry Fry stable. Astromachia was a bit better than the result at Sandown last time and is feared most having been dropped another 2 lb. Red Windsor brings unexposed potential to this handicap debut.
Progressive 5yo MONJULES has done very well for his new stable this season and is attempting to complete a C&D hat-trick.

1st (9) (5.5/1 +54%) Royal Lake |
5.5/1(+54%) | (9) Royal Lake 5.5/1, Fair form when runner-up in 21f Warwick maiden hurdle last March. Well below par over fences and hurdles this term however, so has it to prove. Cheekpieces go back on.
2nd (5) (5/1 +9%) Just Loose Change |
5/1(+9%) | (5) Just Loose Change 5/1, Showed much improved form when readily making a successful handicap debut at Worcester (2m4f) in October, leading on bridle after 3 out. Similar form in hitting the frame from inflated mark both starts since and fancied to be in the mix again.
3rd (10) (11/1 -10%) San Pedro De Senam |
11/1(-10%) | (10) San Pedro De Senam 11/1, Produced a couple of respectable efforts from much-reduced mark at Huntingdon in the spring and feasible to think he needed first start for 9 months back at that venue in February. Not out of things from this career-low mark.
4th (3) (5/1 +0%) Star Flyer |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Star Flyer 5/1, Reached the frame in both bumpers and ran to a fair level on second start over hurdles (following wind op) when third at Newcastle (20.3f) in January. However, needs to jump better than he did when third in a C&D novice since. Handicap debut.
5th (8) (66/1 -65%) Oscar Asche |
66/1(-65%) | (8) Oscar Asche 66/1, Fair hurdler for Rebecca Curtis but record was a patchy one and whilst it was highly likely he needed the run after 22 months off over extended 25f here in March, others make more appeal.
6th (2) (40/1 -43%) Privatearing |
40/1(-43%) | (2) Privatearing 40/1, 7-y-o who stepped up on first 2 starts when second in 10-runner C&D novice in February, looking well served by the step up in trip. Never figured dropped in distance on qualifying run back here (17.7f) last month but could do better now handicapping for yard enjoying a good run.
7th (7) (25/1 -150%) Mistral Lady |
25/1(-150%) | (7) Mistral Lady 25/1, Some encouragement in bumpers and again when placed in a pair of maiden hurdles in the autumn. Exploits in handicaps have been disappointing though, well held on the back of 12 weeks off at Huntingdon (20.6f) 3 weeks ago.
8th (4) (10/1 -54%) Chloe's Court |
10/1(-54%) | (4) Chloe's Court 10/1, Dual hurdles winner who showed benefit of Hereford run when third in 9-runner Exeter handicap (23f) in February. Possibly found much quicker conditions against her when pulled up at Newbury later that month and bounce back certainly not ruled out.
9th (1) (3.33/1 -67%) Flintara |
3.33/1(-67%) | (1) Flintara 3.33/1, Returned better than ever, narrowly landing 16-runner Uttoxeter handicap in December and career-best display when following up emphatically over extended 25f here 4 weeks ago. 7 lb higher now but she's clearly thriving and big shout in hat-trick bid.
|PU| (6) (5/1 +17%) Legal Rights |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Legal Rights 5/1, Three-time winner last season (including over C&D) and creditable effort (in first-time blinkers) when third at Huntingdon (20.6f, soft) on Boxing Day. However, turned in a laboured display returned to this C&D a month later. Others make more appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FLINTARA bolted up over 3m2f on her return to action last month and, with the drop in trip unlikely to be an issue, Richard Bandey's charge is fancied to repeat the dose. Star Flyer showed ability in novice company and he could take a step forward on handicap debut, while the consistent Just Loose Change might not be far away either.
FLINTARA has returned an all-round improved model, building on her December victory at Uttoxeter in comfortable fashion here (25.7f) 4 weeks ago. She earns the vote to defy another rise in the weights and complete the hat-trick, with Just Loose Change and Chloe's Court heading up the dangers. Star Flyer is also worth keeping an eye on.
The pick is JUST LOOSE CHANGE, who won in good style on his handicap debut last autumn and has performed well on both starts this year.

1st (2) (0.83/1 +25%) William Philo |
0.83/1(+25%) | (2) William Philo 0.83/1, Backed up brace of placed efforts over hurdles with very good third of 15 in handicap chase at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) 12 days ago, sticking to task. Blinkers now applied for first time and looks the one to beat,
2nd (1) (8/1 -78%) Mister Murchan |
8/1(-78%) | (1) Mister Murchan 8/1, Dipped well below last winning mark but has been out of sorts this term and addition of cheekpieces (retained here) at Kempton latest had little impact.
3rd (4) (3.5/1 -17%) Wind Tor |
3.5/1(-17%) | (4) Wind Tor 3.5/1, Dual winner at Exeter last season and returned to form when third of 9 in handicap at same course (24.2f, soft) 9 days ago. Remains fairly treated and holds solid claims.
4th (5) (8/1 +64%) Bellamy's Grey |
8/1(+64%) | (5) Bellamy's Grey 8/1, Unreliable sort who was pulled up over fences at Ffos Las in January and ran poorly over the smaller obstacles at Wincanton since. Hard to recommend.
|PU| (3) (8/1 -45%) The Boat |
8/1(-45%) | (3) The Boat 8/1, Leicester winner (22.7f) in December but run poorly more recently and has plenty to prove at present. Visor on first time.
|PU| (6) (50/1 -25%) Moroval |
50/1(-25%) | (6) Moroval 50/1, Sprang a major surprise when 100/1 winner of 7-runner handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f) in November but hasn't been in same form either outing since and makes limited appeal from 3 lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In not the strongest of contests, a chance can be taken with the Polly Gundry-trained WIND TOR. She secured a fair third over 3m at Exeter on her latest outing last month and can improve, especially given Chloe Emsley knocks 7lb off her back due to her claim. William Philo is feared most in first-time blinkers, while The Boat is another to bear in mind.
WILLIAM PHILO offered more in this sphere when third at Chepstow last month and is fancied to land the spoils. Wind Tor looks the likeliest danger.
Preference is for WILLIAM PHILO, who ran well in a big field at Chepstow 12 days ago and remains well treated on earlier hurdle form.

1st (5) (0.83/1 +9%) All Authorized |
0.83/1(+9%) | (5) All Authorized 0.83/1, €110,000 Authorized gelding. Brother to useful 2m hurdle winner I Am Maximus, stays 21f. and half-brother to 4 winners on Flat. Likely type on paper.
2nd (3) (33/1 -83%) Mount Ferns |
33/1(-83%) | (3) Mount Ferns 33/1, Useful pedigree but he didn't offer much obvious short-term encouragement on last month's Huntingdon debut.
3rd (6) (3.33/1 +5%) Dotties Star |
3.33/1(+5%) | (6) Dotties Star 3.33/1, Sea The Moon gelding who showed fair form when third on his debut at Huntingdon. Failed to build on that when a well-held sixth in a Cheltenham listed race on New Year's Day but he's a player back in calmer waters.
4th (4) (3.5/1 +59%) Taita Hills |
3.5/1(+59%) | (4) Taita Hills 3.5/1, £35,000 purchase after getting off the mark in Irish points at the third time of asking in January. One of 2 runners from his stable and the betting should help to separate them.
5th (10) (28/1 +15%) J'ventile |
28/1(+15%) | (10) J'ventile 28/1, 20/1, last of 7 in bumper at Ffos Las (good to soft) on debut 30 days ago.
6th (9) (10/1 +29%) Drishogue |
10/1(+29%) | (9) Drishogue 10/1, Mount Nelson filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/smart chaser Hatcher and fair chaser Flash Tommie. Stable does get the odd bumper winner so she's worth a precautionary betting check.
7th (7) (200/1 -60%) Vintage Icon |
200/1(-60%) | (7) Vintage Icon 200/1, 125/1, always behind on Kempton debut 17 days ago.
8th (2) (33/1 -106%) Last In Line |
33/1(-106%) | (2) Last In Line 33/1, Saddler's Rock gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Norse Legend. Dam (c98/h95) ungenuine 2m-25f hurdle/chase winner. Betting should help guide to expectations with this newcomer.
9th (1) (100/1 +0%) Knowledgeable King |
100/1(+0%) | (1) Knowledgeable King 100/1, Well beaten in 3 runs since last season. A subsequent wind op needs to have transformed him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A facile winner of a point-to-point in January, it could be worth siding with TAITA HILLS on his debut for Gary Moore. The fact he kept on to win by six lengths during the aforementioned contest suggests there could be more to come from the gelded son of Workforce, but All Authorized boasts an appealing pedigree and should not be taken lightly on his racecourse bow. Bing Belle completes the shortlist.
ALL AUTHORIZED has a good pedigree for a race like this and is selected to make a winning debut, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Dotties Star is unlikely to be too far away if recapturing his debut form, while Bing Belle is also respected for a stable with a very healthy 17-41 record in bumpers here.
The suggestion is DOTTIES STAR, who made a pleasing debut at Huntingdon in the autumn and wasn't disgraced in a Listed race last time.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
