1st (7) (8/13 +7%) Toss Of A Coin |
8/13(+7%) | (7) Toss Of A Coin 8/13, €68,000 3-y-o, €150,000 5-y-o, Flemensfirth gelding. Brother to 3 winners, including smart hurdler Closing Ceremony and useful hurdler/smart chaser Highland Lodge, and half-brother to another 3 winners. Won last of 4 starts in Irish points (Apr 16). Likely type for top yard. Well-bred Irish point winner; appeals given the weak form on offer from today's rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 -71%) Annie Express |
12/1(-71%) | (8) Annie Express 12/1, £35,000 buy after easily off mark in Irish points at third attempt (Mar 26). Shaped with promise prior to unseating at Exeter on hurdling debut and looks open to improvement. Irish point win; 16-1, starting to fade when she unseated two out in a 2m2f novice here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -20%) Jemura |
4/1(-20%) | (1) Jemura 4/1, Promise in sole point. Only modest form in 2 bumpers and folded tamely when 29 lengths fourth on Kempton hurdle debut in May. However, he retains potential for his top stable and it's possible he'll pack more punch at the finish after wind surgery. Off since wind surgery in May; reported in Stable Tour to have "done particularly well". |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/2 +0%) Kruger Park |
11/2(+0%) | (3) Kruger Park 11/2, From a good family and shaped with encouragement when third in a Hereford bumper on debut a year ago. However, disappointed next 2 outings and well held both starts over hurdles this season. Three bumpers and two novice hurdles, achieving two minor honours; that form is unexciting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 +34%) Mad Mike |
33/1(+34%) | (4) Mad Mike 33/1, Makes some appeal on paper but very much in need of experience in bumper/Exeter novice hurdle 7 months apart. Blinkers go on now. After a bumper and a novice hurdle, today's blinkers need to make a massive difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 +79%) Mistymal |
14/1(+79%) | (5) Mistymal 14/1, Well held in bumper/maiden hurdle. Won Irish point in April; low-key start to rules career in bumper at a maiden hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (125/1 -279%) Rum Cove |
125/1(-279%) | (6) Rum Cove 125/1, £30,000 3-y-o, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including chase winner in Italy Saxo Sol and fair French hurdler Beau Fixe. Offered little in Exeter bumper. 14-1, always behind in bumper here (2m, good to soft) last month; now has his tongue tied. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TOSS OF A COIN got off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the pointing sphere and appears to have been found a nice opportunity for his Rules debut. A full-brother to former Becher Chase winner Highland Lodge and Grade 2-winning hurdler Closing Ceremony, who both relished testing conditions, it would be no surprise to see him follow suit. Stable companion Kruger Park is entitled to build on what he has achieved to date over timber, while a wind operation might aid the cause of Jemura.
TOSS OF A COIN fetched quite a bit at the sales after winning an Irish point so looks an obvious player for his top yard. Annie Express offered something to work on here last month and is next best ahead of Jemura, who may fare better after wind surgery.
It is easy to side with the well-bred, Nicholls-trained TOSS OF A COIN who makes his debut under rules after winning an Irish point.

1st (2) (3/1 -200%) Percy Veering |
3/1(-200%) | (2) Percy Veering 3/1, Made it third time lucky over fences on the back of a wind op at Warwick (25.4f, heavy) on return and followed up in similarly determined fashion at Ffos Las 3 weeks ago. Strong claims in hat-trick bid. Two clearcut wins over about 3m+ on soft this term; probably has more to give. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/4 +55%) Caeruleum |
9/4(+55%) | (4) Caeruleum 9/4, Well held in novice hurdles to date but showed some improvement switched to a handicap when sixth of 13 at Wincanton (19.8f, soft, 11/1) on belated return 3 weeks ago. Makes chase debut. Significantly up in trip. Showed more on handicap hurdle debut; 5yo chase debutant over a new trip; one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 -120%) Williamdeconqueror |
11/2(-120%) | (6) Williamdeconqueror 11/2, Yet to win a race of any description but went very close at Lingfield on return so must be respected back up in trip. 0-11 but competitive with cheekpieces in handicap chases over 2m7f-3m3f last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +19%) Lock Out |
13/2(+19%) | (3) Lock Out 13/2, Point winner who also won bumper/novice hurdle on his first 2 starts under Rules. Hasn't kicked on from that although there was some promise on chasing debut at Wincanton on his return a few runs back. Ended last term on a low note and continued downhill this season; different headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (9/2 +78%) Seymour Promise |
9/2(+78%) | (7) Seymour Promise 9/2, Remains a maiden but showed more than previously over fences when second in 4-runner handicap at Newton Abbot (25.8f) in June. Disappointing since, though. Out of form lately; wind surgery before latest run; not proven on worse than good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 +40%) Mormon |
12/1(+40%) | (1) Mormon 12/1, Sole win to his name came over hurdles on New Years' Day 2019 and form since joining this yard from Henry de Bromhead has been patchy. Others preferred. No revival for new yard last term or on this season's reappearance after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (28/1 +15%) Fama Et Gloria |
28/1(+15%) | (5) Fama Et Gloria 28/1, Runner-up in Limerick claiming hurdle on final start for Joseph O'Brien, but no promise for this yard and looks up against it again on chasing debut. Struggling when last seen (June 2022) and this is his chase debut; equipment off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PERCY VEERING has returned to fences this season in the right manner, with victories at Warwick and Ffos Las, having failed to complete on both attempts last season. A 6lb rise for his most recent success is unlikely to inconvenience him as he continues to progress. Williamdeconqueror was just denied at Lingfield on his return to action and has to enter calculations, while chasing debutant Caeruleum is open to improvement following his recent spin at Wincanton.
PERCY VEERING is on the up as a chaser and, in a thin race, he makes most appeal as he bids to complete the hat-trick. Williamdeconqueror is the only other to arrive on the back of a solid showing, so he's feared most.
The hat-trick may well beckon for PERCY VEERING, although Williamdeconqueror would deserve a win and Caeruleum is unexposed.

1st (12) (18/1 -13%) Royal Jewel |
18/1(-13%) | (12) Royal Jewel 18/1, Runner-up in an Irish point and he hinted at promise when fifth of 15 in novice hurdle (18/1) over C&D 33 days ago. Open to progress. C&D fifth of 15, on the heels of Iris Des Issards; gave encouragement but major work to do. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (20/1 +70%) Iris Des Issards |
20/1(+70%) | (7) Iris Des Issards 20/1, Twice third in points and showed a bit of promise when a remote fourth of 15 on C&D hurdle debut 33 days ago. May do better but big step up needed to go close. 100-1 fourth of 15 over C&D, way behind by the first two but about 1l ahead of Royal Jewel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/11 +37%) Don't Tell Su |
4/11(+37%) | (4) Don't Tell Su 4/11, Confirmed debut promise when winning a Chepstow bumper in April. Encouraging start to his hurdle career when second of 15 to subsequent Cheltenham Grade 2 winner Minella Missile over 19.5f back at Chepstow in October. The one to beat. Second of 15 in 2m3f maiden hurdle at Chepstow, showing easily the most in this line-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (15/2 +85%) Moorefields |
15/2(+85%) | (9) Moorefields 15/2, Mahler gelding. Dam fairly useful hurdle winner around 2m (stayed 2½m). Placed in Irish points but will need to be useful to make a winning start over hurdles here. Third or fourth in three Irish maiden points before £22,000 sale in April; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (200/1 -203%) Can't Say |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Can't Say 200/1, Well beaten in points and failed to beat a rival in a course bumper back in April 2021. Best watched. 8yo with no worthwhile form in three points or a bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (15/2 -150%) Doyen Quest |
15/2(-150%) | (5) Doyen Quest 15/2, In command when saddle slipped and unseated rider in sole point and made a successful bumper debut for new stable at Ffos Las in November. Unable to cope with a Cheltenham listed bumper 5 weeks later but retains potential now hurdling. Won bumper at Ffos Las; 14-1, weakened badly in Listed bumper at Cheltenham (2m, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (150/1 -127%) Bobbi's Beauty |
150/1(-127%) | (13) Bobbi's Beauty 150/1, Successful in an Irish point but down the field in a bumper and 2 hurdles since switching to Rules. First-time hood needs to spark major improvement. Irish point win; no worthwhile form under rules; has been making the running; now hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (200/1 -100%) Daring Plan |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Daring Plan 200/1, Maiden Irish pointer, pulled up last time (Jan 29). Best watched on hurdles debut unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Beaten 20l when second in one of his six Irish maiden points; off since January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (40/1 +20%) Sammy's Guarantee |
40/1(+20%) | (15) Sammy's Guarantee 40/1, Runner-up sole outing in point bumpers. Has shown ability when in mid-field in a pair of novice hurdles this autumn at Ludlow and Taunton. Has a hood added to the tongue-tie she wore last time. Letthedustsettle likely the yard's first string. Went close in a point bumper but beaten more than 30l in two novice hurdles; now hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (12/1 -71%) Nordic Storm |
12/1(-71%) | (11) Nordic Storm 12/1, £45,000 Norse Dancer gelding. Dam, bumper winner/placed over hurdles, is a half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/very smart chaser (2m-2½m winner) Kadarann and useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Kadara. Newcomer to note in the betting. £45,000 3yo; second foal; dam bumper winner and 2nd in 2m3f hurdle, family of Kahyasi. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (14/1 -155%) Letthedustsettle |
14/1(-155%) | (8) Letthedustsettle 14/1, Successful on his sole outing in points and has shaped with promise on both runs in this sphere, third of 8 in novice hurdle (9/2) at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) 25 days ago. Open to further improvement. Won a soft-ground maiden point in March; enough in two hurdle races to have place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (200/1 -100%) Freddie Fleetfoot |
200/1(-100%) | (6) Freddie Fleetfoot 200/1, No worthwhile form. Looks a modest maiden after his two points and eight hurdle races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (66/1 -100%) Ballynaheer |
66/1(-100%) | (1) Ballynaheer 66/1, Mahler gelding who finished runner-up on his completed outing in points and ridden with an eye on the future when seventh on hurdling debut at Chepstow (2m, heavy) last month. Likely to need more time. 2nd in maiden point; 22-1, backed out of it late on in a 2m maiden at Chepstow (2m, heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (66/1 -100%) Mountain Bay |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Mountain Bay 66/1, First sign of some ability when fifth of 9 in Wincanton novice hurdle 32 days ago but he's likely more one for handicaps after this. 19l defeat at Wincanton (1m7f, good to soft) latest but he has a place squeak on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (200/1 +0%) Gorcombe Fizz |
200/1(+0%) | (14) Gorcombe Fizz 200/1, Has shown nothing in 3 starts over hurdles. Big prices when pulled up in two starts over hurdles here and one at Taunton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DON'T TELL SU showed signs of greenness throughout the contest when runner-up on his hurdling debut at Chepstow and the five-year-old, who drops back in trip on this occasion, is expected to have learned plenty from that experience. Nordic Storm is an interesting newcomer who is from the family of former smart 2m chaser Kadarann, while Doyen Quest is capable of leaving behind his effort in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham last month.
DON'T TELL SU bumped into a subsequent Grade 2 winner when second on his Chepstow hurdle debut and can go one better now for the Paul Nicholls team. Dan Skelton bumper winner Doyen Quest looks the obvious danger, with Letthedustsettle best of the remainder.
Inexperience was evident from DON'T TELL SU on his hurdling debut but he gave a subsequent Grade 2 winner plenty to think about.

1st (4) (5/2 +50%) Stormy Flight |
5/2(+50%) | (4) Stormy Flight 5/2, Scored at Taunton in February but mixed record since, sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, soft, 18/1) 32 days ago. Below par of late but he's back on a dangerous mark and he can deal with soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/6 -8%) Sir Psycho |
4/6(-8%) | (1) Sir Psycho 4/6, Won 3 times as a juvenile hurdler in 2019/20 season. Lightly raced since and well prepared to make a winning return to chasing for new yard at Ascot (18.8f) 5 weeks ago, travelling well and kept up to work. Open to improvement and sound claims in follow-up bid. Back up 7lb for his convincing win at Ascot but had dropped to a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/1 -100%) Honneur D'Ajonc |
7/1(-100%) | (3) Honneur D'Ajonc 7/1, Won 4 times over hurdles in 2021/22 and came good at the fifth time of asking over fences in handicap at Hereford (21f) in January. However, failed to complete all 3 starts since, including back over hurdles on return. Headgear now applied. Capable handicapper on his day but has been struggling to complete; tries headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (16/1 -113%) Bennys King |
16/1(-113%) | (2) Bennys King 16/1, Reinvigorated by a switch to hunters and fitting of cheekpieces last season, winning twice and fine second in the Aintree Foxhunter (all under Heidi Palin). Ran poorly without the cheekpieces in Warwick handicap chase on return, however, and the headgear is absent again. Engaged 12.40 Fontwell Tue. Could easily leave his Warwick run behind on ground he handles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SIR PSYCHO was quite taking when opening his account over fences on his stable bow at Ascot last month and Harry Derham's inmate is fancied to defy a 7lb rise in the ratings. Although Stormy Flight would make more appeal over further, he shouldn't be underestimated off a tumbling rating, while Honneur D'Ajonc races off his last winning mark and he is another to note for an in-form yard.
SIR PSYCHO made a positive start for this yard back over fences when winning at Ascot on his return and this looks a good opportunity with all 3 of his rivals arriving with something to prove. Stormy Flight is selected for the forecast.
It's hard to get away from SIR PSYCHO who is only one of these to have run a race of note last time out when impressive at Ascot.

1st (10) (12/1 +14%) Sindabella |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Sindabella 12/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. Lame when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, good, 7/1) on final outing 6 months ago. 1-18; lame in June when last seen; second here last November after a similar layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/10 +80%) Merry Monty |
11/10(+80%) | (7) Merry Monty 11/10, Attracted support and again shaped better than the bare result when fifth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) 27 days ago. One to consider. Prominent until late on when fifth this autumn in large-field handicaps over 2m2f/2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (6/1 +82%) Wellwillya |
6/1(+82%) | (12) Wellwillya 6/1, Fared better than previously when sixth of 13 in novice hurdle at this course (16.7f, soft) 23 days ago. Remains to be seen if he's able to back that up. Latest run entitles him to a second look on return to a handicap (his third) in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/1 -64%) Daany |
9/1(-64%) | (8) Daany 9/1, Unreliable type who produced his best effort to date from 10 lb out of the handicap when second in 9-runner event at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 20 days ago. Good chance if reproducing that back up in trip. 2nd at Wincanton (1m7f, soft) latest, the first time he's been competitive in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (11/2 +89%) Starvidov |
11/2(+89%) | (14) Starvidov 11/2, Well held in bumpers and it's been a similar story over hurdles so far, including in first-time cheekpieces at Wincanton last month. Cheekpieces joined tongue-tie for handicap debut on latest but still no significant impact. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (20/1 +0%) Bellamy's Grey |
20/1(+0%) | (9) Bellamy's Grey 20/1, Course winner but he's an unreliable sort and came in only fifteenth of 18 in handicap here (23.1f, good to soft) 7 months ago. Others make more appeal. Sole win came over hurdles here (near 2m6f, heavy) in January 2022; off since April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (28/1 +58%) Miss Harriett |
28/1(+58%) | (13) Miss Harriett 28/1, Long-standing maiden who was well held after 19 months off at this course (21.6f, soft, 66/1) 17 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Maiden; missed last term and latest run was only a minor step back in the right direction. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (80/1 -142%) Saintemilion |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Saintemilion 80/1, One-time fairly useful chaser for Paul Nicholls but has shown little both outings for current yard (including back over hurdles). Returns from 8 months off with lots to prove. Had two long layoffs in recent seasons and there's hardly been an echo of his old form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/1 -214%) Tidal Storm |
11/1(-214%) | (3) Tidal Storm 11/1, Fair handicapper on Flat but hasn't kicked on over hurdles, producing another discouraging display switched to handicaps after 6 months off at Wincanton 20 days ago. Tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time. 6th of 9 when favourite on handicap hurdle debut at Wincanton (1m7f, soft); aids on today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 -50%) Bert Wilson |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Bert Wilson 12/1, Reacted well to a visor last season, winning 2m4f handicaps at Plumpton and Chepstow. Not disgraced when fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) 23 days ago and can't be dismissed. Inconsistent but he won twice when ridden prominently on soft ground early this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (33/1 -32%) Champs Hill |
33/1(-32%) | (11) Champs Hill 33/1, Yet to show any ability and easily passed over on his first start for 7 months. Has had a breathing op. Minor form; tongue tied last time (May) and had wind surgery soon afterwards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -186%) Battle March |
40/1(-186%) | (5) Battle March 40/1, C&D winner who was let down by his jumping both starts last season. Fair bit to prove on return. Off 445 days before failing to spark last winter; dropped 12lb as result of those two runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (100/1 -900%) Loukarak |
100/1(-900%) | (1) Loukarak 100/1, Fair form over hurdles and fences in France but has shaped with no encouragement all 3 starts for current connections. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Ex-French maiden who has not shown anything like enough in his three starts in Britain. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LIBOR LAD was rewarded for his respectable runner-up efforts at Perth and Stratford when gaining a breakthrough victory at Uttoxeter. David Dennis' gelding won with enough in hand that day to suggest that a 6lb rise in the handicap is manageable so a double could be in the offing. Daany ran his best race to date when second at Wincanton recently and is feared most, ahead of Merry Monty.
LIBOR LAD got off the mark in style at Uttoxeter 17 days ago and promises to follow up from a 6 lb higher mark. Merry Monty has shaped better than the distance beaten suggests both outings this season and is second choice, ahead of Bert Wilson.
The withdrawal of Libor Lad puts SINDABELLA at the top of the list. Stablemate Bert Wilson is second choice.

1st (6) (4/1 +75%) Foxboro |
4/1(+75%) | (6) Foxboro 4/1, Bagged handicap chases at Fontwell and Newbury last season but those wins are interspersed with a number of low-key performances, including both starts this season. Stamina is also a concern, given that he hasn't scored over a trip beyond 22.4f. He didn't see it out over 3m, 3m1f or 3m2f when he tried those trips last winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (6/1 +8%) Lyrical Genius |
6/1(+8%) | (8) Lyrical Genius 6/1, Hurdle winner who hasn't looked an easy ride over fences but returned to form when going close under a positive ride at Carlisle (26.2f, soft). Shouldn't be far away if able to back that up, albeit his profile suggests that he's by no means certain to do so. Twice went agonisingly close from the front over 3m2f, including on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/1 +0%) Polish |
9/1(+0%) | (4) Polish 9/1, Runner-up first 5 starts upon rejoining this yard, including both starts over fences at Worcester and Uttoxeter in September. However, put in his place in a Cheltenham handicap hurdle last time and while he stays 3m well enough, this trip represents unchartered territory. 2nd in both his runs over fences; this new trip is intriguing for one who stays 3m so well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -82%) Golden Sovereign |
10/1(-82%) | (2) Golden Sovereign 10/1, Opened chase account at Wincanton on final start of 2021/22 campaign and placed both completed starts at that course last term. Shapes as though worth another crack over this sort of trip and he's not discounted. Has undergone a wind op. Started last season well; plenty to prove over today's trip; had wind surgery in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/2 -22%) Silver In Disguise |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Silver In Disguise 11/2, Scored at Wetherby in April and got back on track after 5 months off when third of 9 in handicap chase at Carlisle (24.5f, soft) in October. Trip/ground won't be a problem and while he's never won off a mark this high, a bold show would be no surprise. Has twice shown he stays 3m6f; ran creditably on latest outing; acts on heavy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/8 +39%) Broomfield Present |
11/8(+39%) | (1) Broomfield Present 11/8, Useful winning hurdler last season who made a promising start in this sphere when third of 12 in handicap chase at this course (24.2f, soft) on return. Was still in the mix when brought down 3 out at Uttoxeter since and promises to be suited by this stamina test. Third chase; faces a significantly longer trip but there's plenty to suggest it can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (22/1 -238%) Domaine De L'Isle |
22/1(-238%) | (5) Domaine De L'Isle 22/1, Tumbled down the weights and finally took advantage when landing small-field marathon at Chepstow (30.6f, soft) in March. That wasn't a particularly strong race, though, and he was pulled up on return back at Chepstow. Subsequently undergone a wind op. Authoritative win at Chepstow (3m7f, soft; acts on heavy) in March; has had wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
There won't be many stiffer stamina tests than this all season and that should play into the hands of SILVER IN DISGUISE. A disqualified 'winner' of a marathon event at Chepstow in the past, the grey is best when the mud is flying and advertised his well-being with a strong third-place effort at Carlisle on his reappearance, only tiring late on. The progressive Lyrical Genius also shaped well on his return and has to be considered off bottom weight. Golden Sovereign has gone well fresh in the past and may throw up some value.
This marathon trip should be right up BROOMFIELD PRESENT's street and he is taken to make it third time lucky over fences. The 7-y-o's reappearance effort in a competitive 3m handicap here was solid and his subsequent exit at Uttoxeter was through no fault of his own. Silver In Disguise is a proven stayer who won't mind deep ground and he is feared most ahead of Golden Sovereign.
This sort of trip could be the making of LYRICAL GENIUS (nap) but it also holds major interest for Broomfield Present.

7/1(+65%) | (3) Ilfonce 7/1, Coastal Path gelding. Brother to modest hurdler Hokelami, and half-brother to fair hurdler Fierami. Worth a market check on debut. Out of an unraced half-sister to high-class chaser L'Ami; market may guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (33/1 -313%) Moving Target |
33/1(-313%) | (7) Moving Target 33/1, Linda's Lad gelding. Dam, modest 3m hurdle winner, half-sister to useful hurdler/chase winner (stayed 25f) Whataknight. Second foal from a low-grade 3m hurdle winner; others appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
It's likely that both Drumheller and Matthias will build on their encouraging debuts at Sandown and Uttoxeter respectively but it's still hard to get away from Paul Nicholls' 320,000-pounds newcomer QUEBECOIS. A half-brother to a host of winning jumpers - most notably the smart Brindisi Breeze - the gelding showed up well in a point-to-point in the spring and could prove a cut above on his Rules debut.
The market will no doubt prove informative with the majority unraced but it's hard to ignore the claims of QUEBECOIS, who cost £320,000 and finished runner-up on his sole start in Irish points earlier this year. Jack Black ticks plenty of boxes representing leading connections so he may emerge as the main danger, with the once-raced Drumheller and Kalahari King another couple to consider.
The most interesting runner is QUEBECOIS, who joined Paul Nicholls for big money after his very promising Irish point debut.
Ths is the racecard key.
