1st (2) (1/4 -39%) Might I |
1/4(-39%) | (2) Might I 1/4, Useful hurdler who finished runner-up in 2½m Aintree Grade 1 on his final 2021/22 start. Fourth in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham in March and ran to a useful level sent chasing after 5 months off at Newton Abbot (might even have won with a better round of jumping). Can put that experience to use. Highly talented hurdler; didn't jump well on chase debut but still ran well; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/4 +31%) Bourbali |
11/4(+31%) | (1) Bourbali 11/4, Big improver over hurdles in 2021/22, winning 4 times. Consistent in defeat last season, finishing a creditable second at Sandown when last seen in April (fourth that day has made a winning chase debut this term). Front runner who has the demeanour to adapt to chasing. On hurdle form he has plenty to find with Might I, but not without hope on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A match that represents the best opportunity MIGHT I has found to get his head back in front. The seven-year-old ran with credit to finish fourth in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival and made a pleasing enough start over fences against rivals who boasted more experience when runner-up at Newton Abbot. Bourbali was consistent in handicap hurdles last season and could have more to offer in this sphere.
MIGHT I didn't jump great on his chase debut at Newton Abbot last month but that experience won't be lost on him and he should see off Bourbali, rated 18 lb inferior over hurdles to Harry Fry's charge.
Classy hurdler MIGHT I did not jump with fluency on last month's chase debut but this still looks a good opportunity for him.

1st (8) (9/4 +55%) Moonlight Artist |
9/4(+55%) | (8) Moonlight Artist 9/4, Failing to improve for a switch to handicap company over 18.5f here last month but it is still very early days for this 5-y-o from an in-form yard and perhaps the step up in trip will unlock some improvement. Poor so far but being unexposed over this longer distance heightens interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 -82%) Raddon Top |
5/1(-82%) | (1) Raddon Top 5/1, Landed hat-trick of handicap hurdles here at the start of 2022 and added a course chase success early this year. Ended last season with a couple of below-par runs but on a workable mark back hurdling on reappearance. Considered. Capable off this mark but had lost his way when last seen in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (13/2 +46%) Karakoram |
13/2(+46%) | (7) Karakoram 13/2, Seemed well suited by the step up to 3m when resuming winning ways at Taunton in March. Not in the same form since, including 2 starts this term, but back on a winning mark so dangerous to dismiss. Below par in two runs after a break but he's usually reliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (8/1 -60%) Elfride |
8/1(-60%) | (9) Elfride 8/1, Improved to win a 23f Uttoxeter handicap in May. Unseated back there later in the month. Has to race from 8 lb out of handicap here but still no surprise were he to have a say. In winning form when last seen in the spring and further progress is possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (11/1 -214%) Lady Wilberry |
11/1(-214%) | (6) Lady Wilberry 11/1, Runner-up in handicap chases for Keiran Burke in the spring. Reverts to hurdles for new yard after 6 months off. Chance if able to resume where she left off back in May when going close in a 3m2f chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/3 +45%) Lucky So And So |
10/3(+45%) | (2) Lucky So And So 10/3, Promise in 3 novice hurdles at the start of 2022. Pulled up on Warwick handicap debut 9 months later but did win in the pointing field this spring. Defienitely one of the more interesting runners. Has been running well in points and this mark looks fair on his 2022 novice efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 +38%) Caspers Court |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Caspers Court 10/1, Won back to back around 21f at Wincanton and Exeter at the start of 2023 but has failed to hit the same heights since. Well handicapped again but whether he's in good enough form to capitalise remains to be seen. Form has suffered a marked dip since winning consecutive 2m5f hurdles early this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (33/1 +0%) College Oak |
33/1(+0%) | (5) College Oak 33/1, Has struggled since a handicap hurdle win at Stratford in summer 2022, faring no better back hurdling here last time. Returning to further is no bad thing but he's lost his way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (66/1 -560%) Ballinslea Bridge |
66/1(-560%) | (3) Ballinslea Bridge 66/1, Won a Market Rasen handicap chase last December. Failed to complete on 4 of his 5 subsequent starts last season but he did finish second at Wincanton when he did get round. Reverts to hurdles on reappearance. Last win was last December over fences off a similar mark; current wellbeing a grey area. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (80/1 -142%) Menapian |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Menapian 80/1, Poor maiden hurdler who got back on track when third at Taunton in first-time blinkers last December but off since a lesser run back there later that month. Has placed form but he's a longstanding maiden and competing from 14lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ELFRIDE was a winner at Uttoxeter on her penultimate start in May before unseating her rider at the same venue later that month. In a contest where most of her rivals have something to prove, the daughter of Black Sam Bellamy receives the tentative vote. Lady Wilberry was performing with credit over fences in the spring and commands respect, while Lucky So And So benefited from racing in the pointing field earlier in the year and is of interest back under Rules.
In a contest where few arrive with compelling claims a chance is taken on the fitness of RADDON TOP who knows where the winning post is over hurdles here and was also successful over fences at this venue off a higher mark last season. Moonlight Artist has a much less-exposed profile than most of these and that earns him a place on the shortlist along with Lucky So And So.
All of these come with risks. LUCKY SO AND SO is one of the least exposed runners and he might not be on a bad mark.

1st (2) (1/2 +50%) Gidleigh Park |
1/2(+50%) | (2) Gidleigh Park 1/2, From a good family and looked a nice prospect when taking a Chepstow bumper on debut in March. Likely type. Won comfortably on debut in Chepstow bumper and he's a strong candidate now hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (4/1 +43%) Range |
4/1(+43%) | (9) Range 4/1, Fair form in bumpers last season. One to consider now hurdling under Sam Twiston-Davies. Showed promise in bumpers; could be in the shake-up for in-form yard on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (12/1 -260%) Salt Rock |
12/1(-260%) | (10) Salt Rock 12/1, Cost £205,000 after winning his only point in March. Has had wind surgery and wears a tongue tie on this hurdle debut. Very interesting runner. Tailed off in bumper but impressed in point in 2022; remains of interest for in-form yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (50/1 -25%) Koenigsstern |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Koenigsstern 50/1, Dual winning pointer, fell last time (April 10). Betting should provide a guide as to what's anticipated from him on Rules debut. Comfortably won two British points earlier this year; brings potential to this rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (200/1 -100%) Rangatira Jack |
200/1(-100%) | (8) Rangatira Jack 200/1, Offered little encouragement in 2 bumpers in the spring. Down the field at big odds on his two bumpers in the spring and he'd be a surprise winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (300/1 -20%) Wellwillya |
300/1(-20%) | (13) Wellwillya 300/1, No impact in 5 starts over hurdles, including low-grade handicaps. Has shown little across his seven starts and is hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (18/1 +28%) Jumper Madrik |
18/1(+28%) | (3) Jumper Madrik 18/1, €80,000 Kapgarde gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser in France Hyde Madrik. Dam unraced half-sister to smart French chaser (stayed 2¾m) Dream Wish. The betting should help guide to expectations with this newcomer. Half-brother to French 2m1f-2m5f hurdle/chase winner; market could be informative on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (12/1 -85%) Samazul |
12/1(-85%) | (11) Samazul 12/1, Half-brother to numerous winners and won one of his 3 bumper starts last season. Should be up to making presence felt in a race like this now hurdling. Bumper winner who has a useful pedigree and is a nice prospect for hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (300/1 -20%) Fox Wallace |
300/1(-20%) | (14) Fox Wallace 300/1, Tailed off in a bumper and 2 hurdles. Tailed off at big odds on all three rules starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (25/1 +0%) Mr Hope Street |
25/1(+0%) | (7) Mr Hope Street 25/1, From a top stable but only modest form in 2 bumpers/hurdles and looks more one for handicaps after this. Not ruled out each-way but his limitations may well be exposed once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (33/1 -175%) Thurley |
33/1(-175%) | (12) Thurley 33/1, Well held on bumper debut in March but hinted at promise when 18 lengths fourth of 15 in Wincanton maiden hurdle 7 months later. Open to improvement. Took a step in the right direction on recent hurdle debut and he's an each-way possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 -54%) Man Of My Dreams |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Man Of My Dreams 10/1, Cost £100,000 after placing in 2 points and shaped well when second of 9 in a Huntingdon bumper in April. Kielan Woods on yard's other runner but this one is also of interest now hurdling. Fitted with a tongue tie. Point/bumper runner-up; could have a part to play on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (250/1 -150%) Azolo |
250/1(-150%) | (1) Azolo 250/1, 150/1, well held in bumper at Chepstow on debut 20 days ago. Can only watch after that. British point runner-up but tailed off at 150-1 on recent bumper debut at Chepstow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GIDLEIGH PARK made an impressive start to his career when landing a Chepstow bumper in March and the form has since been franked by the runner-up, who won both a bumper and a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las in taking style. The five-year-old is expected to take high rank as a novice hurdler and this appears to be a nice starting point. Range performed with credit in a couple of bumpers last season, most notably when runner-up on debut at Chepstow, and he is respected along with Samazul, a winner at Southwell in December.
An interesting race. GIDLEIGH PARK created a good impression in a bumper last spring and is preferred to expensive point recruit Salt Rock. Range and Ben Pauling pair Samazul and Man of My Dreams achieved enough in bumpers to think they can also make their mark in a race like this.
The Harry Fry-trained GIDLEIGH PARK impressed on his debut in a bumper at Chepstow in March and earns the vote now hurdling.

1st (1) (4/1 -113%) King Turgeon |
4/1(-113%) | (1) King Turgeon 4/1, Ex-French gelding got off the mark on second start for this yard at Fontwell in March. Shaped most encouragingly when finishing clear of rest with a thriving rival at Chepstow on return and he makes plenty of appeal. Bumped into rejuvenated winner when clear second on recent reappearance at Chepstow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 -15%) No Hubs No Hoobs |
15/2(-15%) | (7) No Hubs No Hoobs 15/2, Off the mark at Wincanton (25.1f) on Boxing Day but wasn't able to build on that run in his 3 subsequent starts, beaten a long way when third here in April. However, has gone well fresh previously and shouldn't be fully ruled out for in-form yard. Inconsistent last term but reappears with yard in fine form and he's a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/2 +31%) Leissieres Express |
9/2(+31%) | (9) Leissieres Express 9/2, Hasn't been the easiest to train but bettered his hurdles form when second of 9 in handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, soft) on debut over fences 22 days ago. Wouldn't be guaranteed to go the right way from that promising effort but has to be respected nonetheless. Promising second on chase debut at Wincanton and could continue to progress over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +67%) Moorland Rambler |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Moorland Rambler 4/1, Appreciated the test of stamina when winning a 17f handicap hurdle here in January. Bit below that level when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at this course (19.2f, soft) on debut over fences 27 days ago but may do better up further in trip. Untested at this trip but it's worth a go and sole win over hurdles came here; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (8/1 -78%) Imperial Joe |
8/1(-78%) | (4) Imperial Joe 8/1, Most consistent last season, winning early in the campaign at Newton Abbot before a pair of later wins at Taunton. Did come on from his return last year but would hold sound claims if ready to roll here after 6-months off. Two 2m7f wins last season after being upped in trip; could have more to offer this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (12/1 +64%) Tudors Treasure |
12/1(+64%) | (11) Tudors Treasure 12/1, Three-time winner at this track but hasn't scored since 2021 and is generally proving more miss than hit at this advanced stage of his career. Not the easiest to make a case for. Three-time course winner but this 12yo ran well just once last season; out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 +0%) Mormon |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Mormon 33/1, Sole win to his name came over hurdles on New Years' Day 2019 and form since joining this yard from Henry de Bromhead has been patchy. Others preferred. Reappears having had wind op but last season's form was patchy; others are more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (40/1 -100%) Valirann Gold |
40/1(-100%) | (10) Valirann Gold 40/1, Much improved wehn scoring over 2m at Chepstow in January and hasn't quite been in the same form since, albeit facing a stiff task from out of the weights at Warwick last time. Others make more appeal. Won over 2m in January but there are questions marks regarding stamina and current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (6/1 +40%) My Girl Katie |
6/1(+40%) | (8) My Girl Katie 6/1, Irish point winner showed fair form over hurdles last term, though hasn't convinced in a pair of outings over fences so far, making mistakes when fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, good) 14 days ago. Needs to step forward. Well handicapped on hurdle form but needs to better what she's shown on her two chase runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (25/1 -233%) Behind The Curtain |
25/1(-233%) | (3) Behind The Curtain 25/1, Fair maiden hurdler in 2020 for Philip Rothwell. Left that yard for €20,000 and can only be watched sent chasing after 3-year absence. Huge absence to defy on chase debut but given chance by handicapper; market check advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 -20%) Captain Tommy |
12/1(-20%) | (2) Captain Tommy 12/1, Slipped in the weights before winning at Bangor and Worcester during the summer and wasn't disgraced from a 3 lb higher mark at Fontwell (26f, good) 45 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Won at Worcester in August but well beaten the next twice and needs to bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
King Turgeon found only a revitalised rival too strong on last month's seasonal return and he merits respect following a 4lb rise in the handicap, but preference is for LEISSIERES EXPRESS. Jeremy Scott's charge stayed on well over 2m4f at Wincanton 22 days ago, finishing second on his first start over fences, so today's step up in trip could see him in an even better light. Moorland Rambler is also noted.
KING TURGEON pulled well clear with a race-fit and in-form rival on return at Chepstow, and with the same claimer retaining the partnership, is fancied to go one better this time. Leissieres Express showed improved from on chase debut at Wincanton and also merits respect, whilst No Hubs No Hoobs has slipped back towards his last winning mark and isn't discounted given his decent record after a break.
The 5yo KING TURGEON (nap) bumped into the rejuvenated Eceparti when a clear second at Chepstow and can go one better here.

1st (1) (11/8 +39%) Alfie's Princess |
11/8(+39%) | (1) Alfie's Princess 11/8, Point winner who showed plenty of stamina as she made a successful debut over hurdles at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) last month, belying the state she'd got herself in sweating, keeping on well. There is more to come from her. Useful bumper form and won her hurdling debut with plenty to spare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/4 +0%) Endless Supply |
11/4(+0%) | (5) Endless Supply 11/4, Placed on the second of 2 outings in bumpers and showed plenty to work on making hurdling debut after 6 months off at Chepstow behind Alfie's Princess, asked a big question positioned so far back on wretched ground. Will improve. Looked a danger to Alfie's Princess at Chepstow until clouting two out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 -14%) Queen Annie |
4/1(-14%) | (7) Queen Annie 4/1, 72,000 gns buy last year who finished held when well backed on bumper debut but showed why the money came for her 12 weeks on with a hard-fought success at Chepstow. Has had a breathing operation and also has a tongue tie on for hurdles debut now. Idled when winning her bumper at Chepstow; now tongue tied and had a wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/1 -56%) Kit's Coty |
7/1(-56%) | (6) Kit's Coty 7/1, Placed on all 3 starts in Irish points (£60,000 purchase), was going well and looked set to be involved in the finish when losing her rider in extraordinary fashion 3 out on hurdles debut at Ludlow last month. Will improve. Still moving well when hampered and unseating on the home turn in a 2m5f novice at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (40/1 -21%) Whisperonthewind |
40/1(-21%) | (9) Whisperonthewind 40/1, Posted a promising debut second in bumper at Warwick a year ago but didn't build on that in 2 runs after. From a good NH family but has work to do on her hurdles bow. Finished second in her first bumper but form dipped afterwards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (20/1 -167%) Lady Balko |
20/1(-167%) | (10) Lady Balko 20/1, €27,000 buy out of a hurdle/chase winner in France. Point winner in Ireland in February. Worth a look on hurdles debut. Had a subsequent point winner behind when winning her sole Irish point in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (80/1 -142%) Sweet Caryline |
80/1(-142%) | (8) Sweet Caryline 80/1, Fetched £50,000 as a 3-y-o and she's out of a 2m hurdle winner. Unseated rider when beaten on her introduction in a Chepstow bumper in March and hard to know what to expect of her now switched to hurdles. 7-1 but was well held when unseating her rider in a Chepstow bumper in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (16/1 -129%) Annie Express |
16/1(-129%) | (2) Annie Express 16/1, £35,000 buy easily off mark in Irish points at third attempt (Mar 26). Got to be of interest starting out over hurdles. Won a modest Irish point before being picked up for £35,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -100%) Bresilliantly So |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Bresilliantly So 200/1, Blue Bresil mare. Dam 17f-2½m hurdle winner, also 11.5f winner who stayed 2m on Flat. Second foal; dam 11.4f Flat (RPR 68) and 2m-2m4f hurdle winner; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (200/1 -33%) Deadwood Diva |
200/1(-33%) | (4) Deadwood Diva 200/1, Recharge mare. Dam 2m-3¼m hurdle/chase winner. Dam prolific 2m-3m2f hurdle/chase winner from the family of Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Endless Supply (third) was no match for an impressive ALFIE'S PRINCESS (winner) when the pair met at Chepstow last time. The former, who produced a high level of form in bumpers last season, is fancied to uphold those placings, despite carrying a penalty, and maintain her unbeaten hurdles record. Queen Annie was also successful at the Welsh venue when last in action and must be considered now sent over timber.
ALFIE'S PRINCESS came clear in good style on her hurdles debut at Chepstow and there is more to come from her. She can defy a penalty, with old-rival Endless Supply perhaps the danger with improvement on the way also. Kit's Coty got no luck at Ludlow when shaping well and is feared. Queen Annie is also considered first time up over hurdles.
Alfie's Princess won well at Chepstow but ENDLESS SUPPLY was looking a danger until whacking two out and she now has a 7lb pull.

1st (9) (13/2 -18%) Arclight |
13/2(-18%) | (9) Arclight 13/2, Fairly useful on the Flat and ran to a similar level when winning her first 2 starts over hurdles last season. After 6 months off, took very well to chasing with a comfortable success in handicap at Kempton (18f) last month, so she's a major player with progress to come. Won on chase debut and benefits from valuable 4yo allowance; could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (33/1 +0%) Mayhem Mya |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Mayhem Mya 33/1, Having looked a good hurdles prospect initially in 2021/22, she's got back on track this spring, adding to her tally in handicap at Sandown in March. Finished last of 4 in Warwick handicap on chase debut in May, though showed aptitude even if she could do with settling better. Two-time hurdle winner but others were better in that sphere; well beaten on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (14/1 -17%) Carole's Pass |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Carole's Pass 14/1, Hurdles winner in France last summer and followed up back from a break at Newbury in November. In first-time cheekpieces, bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts when fifth at Ayr in April and ran at least as well at Ludlow next time. Needs to find more on her chase debut. Talented over hurdles and open to further improvement, but it's needed on this chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 +38%) Galice Macalo |
10/1(+38%) | (3) Galice Macalo 10/1, After a spell over fences, back to her best returned to hurdling when winning handicap at Chepstow in January. Not at the same level the remainder of the season, but after 6 months off (had a wind op) shaped promisingly when third in novice chase at Worcester (20f) last time. Third to Lady Adare on 2m4f chase debut and could benefit from the drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 -38%) Endless Escape |
9/1(-38%) | (2) Endless Escape 9/1, Likeable type who recorded a fourth win in novice hurdles at Newcastle (20.3f) in February. Had her winning run ended when seventh of 21 in the mares novice at Cheltenham, but acquitted herself very well. Interesting recruit to chasing with tongue tie applied (has had a wind op). 4-4 over hurdles before creditable seventh at Cheltenham; brings potential to chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (66/1 -100%) Inspiratrice |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Inspiratrice 66/1, Caused a 200/1 shock when landing a Taunton juvenile hurdle last year and similar form when third in novice at the same course in February. Matched that level when fourth on her seasonal/chase debut at Worcester (20f) last month, but difficult ask in this contest. Soundly beaten fourth behind two of these on chase debut and she's up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (3/1 +25%) Nurse Susan |
3/1(+25%) | (8) Nurse Susan 3/1, Created an excellent impression when winning her first 2 starts over hurdles in 2021/22 and showed even better form in defeat when second to Love Envoi at Lingfield in January that season. Has been off 20 months but she remains with potential on her first start over fences. Returns from long absence but in top hands & she was a promising novice hurdler in 2021-22. |

8th (5) (7/2 +22%) Law Ella |
7/2(+22%) | (5) Law Ella 7/2, Fairly useful over hurdles and, with tongue strap applied after 5 months off, scored readily on her chase debut in maiden at Thurles (20.5f) last month. Better to come over fences and she can make her presence felt. Won comfortably on chase debut and could have more to offer for her top Irish trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (3/1 -50%) Lady Adare |
3/1(-50%) | (4) Lady Adare 3/1, Three-time winner over hurdles who made a winning start in this sphere in novice at Worcester (20f) in October. Improved on that effort upped to Grade 2 level when second to a smart rival at Wincanton 9 days ago, so she's not taken lightly back in listed company. Runner-up in Grade 2 novice at Wincanton recently and holds leading form claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Useful hurdler ARCLIGHT made the perfect start to life over fences when winning at Kempton last month, where she survived scare at the final obstacle. Nicky Henderson's charge ought to have learnt plenty from that, however, and a subsequent 8lb rise should not prevent her from mounting another stern challenge, with improvement on the cards. Lady Adare hit the woodwork in a Grade 2 at Wincanton nine days ago and she merits respect down in class, while others to note include Law Ella and Nurse Susan.
ARCLIGHT took extremely well to chasing when scoring with plenty in hand at Kempton last month, jumping boldy, and she can take the step up in grade in her stride. The 4-y-o is taken to see off the challenge of Lady Adare, who is respected after her fine second at Wincanton 9 days ago, while Irish-raider Law Ella also enters calculations.
Irish challenger LAW ELLA impressed on last month's chase debut at Thurles and can make it 2-2 over fences. Lady Adare is feared.

1st (4) (6/1 +0%) Wiseguy |
6/1(+0%) | (4) Wiseguy 6/1, Winner of sole start in bumpers and off the mark at second attempt over hurdles in a 24.4f Doncaster maiden in December 2021. Only seen twice since and latest run in a handicap at Warwick 6 months ago was disappointing. Market support would look significant on chasing bow. Useful bumper/hurdle form; has the build for chasing and he's much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/1 -6%) Pimlico Point |
9/1(-6%) | (8) Pimlico Point 9/1, Fetched £160,000 after winning his sole start in points and made a successful start over hurdles at Chepstow (19.5f, good to soft) in March 2022. Disappointed on handicap bow when last seen in January (reported to have had a breathing problem and has since undergone a wind op). Chase debut. Should make a chaser and well handicapped on the form of his novice hurdle win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/1 +56%) Top Of The Bill |
11/1(+56%) | (6) Top Of The Bill 11/1, Fairly useful hurdler who made an unconvincing start to chasing at Chepstow 20 days ago. Might benefit for the experience and return to this trip should help. Raced awkwardly at times when never dangerous on chase debut (2m3f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 +0%) Makin'yourmindup |
10/3(+0%) | (1) Makin'yourmindup 10/3, Likeable sort who enhanced a good strike rate under Rules when landing the Presige Novices' at Haydock in February. Only fourth in a listed contest at Perth 6 months ago but very much the sort to take to this sphere. Has earned this high a mark and brings potential into his chasing career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 -122%) Pulling Stumps |
20/1(-122%) | (7) Pulling Stumps 20/1, Progressive hurdler when last seen and has the scope for chasing. Lengthy absence to overcome, however, so market will be informative. Long absence to overcome but he's dangerously unexposed now sent over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/2 +45%) Great Name That |
11/2(+45%) | (9) Great Name That 11/2, Winner of sole start between the flags and while he didn't show much starting out under Rules in an Irish bumper last spring, there were certainly positives to glean from four placed efforts over hurdles. Solid platform set ahead of this chasing debut after 7 months off. Pointing background suggests he could be better over fences and this is his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (9/2 +40%) Storminhome |
9/2(+40%) | (5) Storminhome 9/2, Winning Irish pointer who landed maiden hurdle at Doncaster (19.4f, good) in January and posted two good placed efforts after at Ffos Las and Bangor. Shaped well on chasing debut at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago and is open to improvement. Got softened up at Huntingdon and was picked off late on; jumped well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (4/1 +0%) Moon Hunter |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Moon Hunter 4/1, Winning pointer who landed first 2 starts over hurdles. Looked rusty when fourth at Cheltenham on seasonal/chasing debut last month and should be well suited by the return to this trip. Ran well on chase debut at Cheltenham where 2m4f looked on the sharp side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (66/1 -450%) Watergrange Jack |
66/1(-450%) | (3) Watergrange Jack 66/1, Scored at Worcester at the start of August prior to back-to-back Fontwell wins, the latest in a 19.2f handicap (good). Only sixth at Warwick last time and not as appealing as some on chasing debut. Productive spell over hurdles this summer; high in the weights even if taking to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MAKIN'YOURMINDUP sets a good standard and, having landed a Grade 2 over hurdles at Haydock last season, he has to be rated as a serious player in this less exalted company on his chasing debut. Moon Hunter is feared most after posting a respectable effort over fences off 2lb higher at Cheltenham last month, while Storminhome is also open to any amount of improvement now he has some experience of the larger obstacles.
MAKIN'YOURMINDUP had a solid campaign over hurdles last season but chasing should bring more out of him and he's fancied to get the better of the likes of Moon Hunter and Strominhome, who both shaped with encouragement on their chasing debuts recently.
The strapping STORMINHOME jumped for fun at Huntingdon before getting picked off by one who was ridden less aggressively.

1st (3) (11/2 +54%) Dunskay |
11/2(+54%) | (3) Dunskay 11/2, €70,000 3-y-o, Night Wish gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Kapard and useful bumper winner Indeevar Bleu. Noteworthy newcomer. Half-brother to two winners; pedigree catches the eye; could have a part to play on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (11/4 +66%) Anno Power |
11/4(+66%) | (12) Anno Power 11/4, €26,000 3-y-o, Affinisea filly. Half-sister to fairly useful 23f hurdle winner Lecky Watson. Dam, pulled up in bumper, sister to useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) Giantofaman. One to consider on debut. Takes on males on debut but she's in good hands and no surprise if she runs well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 -57%) Bond Broker |
11/4(-57%) | (1) Bond Broker 11/4, £80,000 4-y-o, Doyen gelding. Dam (c111/h98) 2m hurdle winner (stayed 2½m, including over fences. Successful sole start in points (Feb 5). Obvious claims on Rules debut. Point winner who has joined leading yard for rules career and is firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

12/1(-100%) | (4) Hartington 12/1, €80,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners on Flat, including 7f-8.4f winner Innamorare. Dam unraced half-sister to high-class hurdler (2m winner) I'm Supposin. Half-brother to two Flat winners; makes debut with stable in fine form and he's a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (17/2 -21%) Dunbulcan Bay |
17/2(-21%) | (2) Dunbulcan Bay 17/2, £72,000 3-y-o, Flemensfirth gelding. Dam, unraced, closely related to smart hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) African Gold and useful hurdler (stays 3m) Franciscan Rock. Worthy of respect. £72,000 3yo; in top hands and he's one to be interested in on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -100%) Hawk Stone |
100/1(-100%) | (5) Hawk Stone 100/1, Down the field at Cheltenham on debut and, while this is an easier race, he doesn't make much appeal. Made debut in warm bumper at Cheltenham; well beaten at 200-1 and may be best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (300/1 -200%) Pescatorius |
300/1(-200%) | (9) Pescatorius 300/1, Big price and offered little at Taunton on debut 7 months ago, so firmly up against it. 150-1 when down the field on debut at Taunton (2m, good to soft) in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 -267%) Pirates' Tale |
22/1(-267%) | (10) Pirates' Tale 22/1, Second of 9 in bumper at Newton Abbot (16.8f, heavy) on NH debut 30 days ago. Has an experience edge over most and may improve, so not without hope. Fared best of the debutants when runner-up at Newton Abbot; sets the form standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (5/1 -25%) Palacio |
5/1(-25%) | (8) Palacio 5/1, Khalkevi gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including very smart hurdler/top-class chaser Whisper and smart hurdler/fairly useful chaser Chuchoteuse. Wears tongue strap. Makes plenty of appeal on paper and stable is in rude health. Half-brother to eight winners notably Whisper; in-form trainer does well in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (14/1 +58%) Rum Cove |
14/1(+58%) | (11) Rum Cove 14/1, £30,000 3-y-o, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including chase winner in Italy Saxo Sol and fair French hurdler Beau Fixe. Trainer had a well-backed bumper winner last Monday and the betting may guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (33/1 +0%) Misting |
33/1(+0%) | (13) Misting 33/1, Scorpion filly. Dam (h98), bumper/unreliable 2m hurdle winner. Bred to handle this discipline, so not without hope if the market speaks in her favour. Trainer has healthy 14% strike-rate in bumpers in the last five seasons; watch the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (80/1 -60%) Ivesceneaspider |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Ivesceneaspider 80/1, Scorpion gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner Astronomic View and a point winner. Worth a market check. Local trainer has had plenty of success here but she's not known for bumper winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BOND BROKER was a comfortable winner of his sole start on the point-to-point scene and is an attractive proposition on his Rules debut now he is under the tutelage of champion trainer, Paul Nicholls. The gelding, whose dam won over both hurdles and fences, was snapped up for 80,000 pounds after that pointing success and is presented with a good opportunity to produce an immediate return on the investment. Hartington, Dunskay and Anno Power are other noteworthy debutants to monitor in the betting.
PALACIO has an excellent pedigree and represents an in-form stable, so he's marginally preferred to Bond Broker, who has already tasted success in points. Hartington also makes plenty of appeal on paper.
Point winner BOND BROKER makes his debut for Paul Nicholls and is taken to maintain his unbeaten record. Pirates' Tale is a danger.
Ths is the racecard key.
