16:50 Dundalk Stakes 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

POWERFUL NATION debuts on the all-weather but is a fast-ground type so is likely to be suited by this surface and has form claims. A speedy sprinter, he finished second at Listed level at Tipperary in July, where he comfortably beat Lady With The Lamp into sixth. Shamrock Breeze is a similarly fast type and has been placed in three Listed races but, notably, has been beaten by the selection twice and has 2.75 lengths to find with him on Tipperary form. Saratoga Special, in turn, finished 5.25 lengths ahead of Shamrock Breeze last month and is now also 5lb better off. However, she disappointed when narrowly failing to win a Navan maiden 22 days ago, with the runner-up being well defeated subsequently.

SARATOGA SPECIAL failed to land the odds at Navan 3 weeks ago but she didn't do much wrong and is worth another chance trying a surface she's bred to relish. The penalised Powerful Nation went close in a listed race at Tipperary in July and is the obvious threat back down in class.

Shamrock Breeze should run well but she has a bit to find with SARATOGA SPECIAL and Powerful Nation on these terms

17:25 Dundalk Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Progressive ISABELLA EXPERT runs in first-time cheekpieces and might turn form with both Agouti Bear and Sharkii and win, under a light weight. The selection was well held by the more experienced Sharkii on her debut at Cork in July but has shown improved form since then and while also recently beaten by Agouti Bear at Navan, is now 8lb better off and can reverse placings. Agouti Bear, similarly, runs in first-time cheekpieces but has a poor draw in 17. Flash The Cash and Sharkii are closely matched on Down Royal form although speedy-type Flash The Cash isn't certain to be suited by today's extra furlong. Shelbiana has been running well under similarly low weights.

SHELBIANA shades preference ahead of Agouti Bear, having again shaped with promise when fifth in a big-field Naas maiden last month. Perhaps the addition of cheekpieces will help eke out a little more and, if so, she will have every chance. Agouti Bear has found just one too good on each of his two starts and will surely go one better soon enough, while Flash The Cash and Sharkii, third and fourth respectively at Down Royal a fortnight ago, are others to consider.

FLASH THE CASH was far from disgraced at Royal Ascot and should be able to take advantage of a good inside draw from the front

18:00 Dundalk Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Dual winner JAMES HENRY has an excellent record over this course and has good recent form. Either a winner or runner-up from seven of ten course starts, he was beaten only a short-head here in February before he returned with a fine effort over five furlongs at the Curragh last month. He has strong claims with his rider again claiming 3lb. Three-year-old Fivecromwellplace is already a course-and-distance winner and was also placed at the Curragh recently. He runs in a first-time visor today from a career high rating. Four of Distillate's five wins have been on turf and despite being lightly-enough raced at this venue, has winning course-and-distance form and should get involved from her rating.

Lightly-raced MAGS caught the eye on both her starts in handicaps so could be the answer. The 3-y-os could well dominate with Fivecromwellplace and Princess Aurea heading the dangers.

SATURN SEVEN has a wide draw to overcome, however, the form of her Curragh fourth in May looks really strong

18:30 Dundalk Handicap 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MARBLE ANGEL has escaped with just a 4lb penalty for winning over today's course-and-distance last month and could well progress further at this distance. All her early form had been over sprint distances but seemed to relish this mile trip in winning well last month, while that form has received notable boosts with the runner-up scoring next time and the third and fourth-placed horses each being subsequently placed. She looks well handicapped and has the inside draw. Comfort Line and Morning Approach have been running well but aren't ahead of the handicapper. Four of Feature This' five career wins (which have all come at this distance) have been achieved at this course and she has place claims.

Billy Lee takes the reins on Marble Angel, who can make light of a 4 lb rise for her C&D success 5 weeks ago. Morning Approach has been running well on turf lately and won over C&D last winter so she's a possible threat. Comfort Line is another who knows where the winning post is here and could play a prominent role assuming a wide stall isn't too much of an inconvenience.

The form of her C&D win last time was boosted by the runner-up and MARBLE ANGEL can score again of 4lb higher.

19:00 Dundalk Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NAPPER TANDY hasn't run on the Flat since September 2022 but has been running well over hurdles and has a good record on all-weather surfaces. Already a hurdle winner this summer, he finished third at Listed level at the Galway festival and while his lack of a recent Flat outing is a small concern, competes from a career low rating and is suited by this distance. Stariam has been running consistently well in country maidens and while frustrating to follow, is interesting competing in her first handicap today, albeit her ability to handle this surface is as yet unproven. Curious Bride has good recent form but would ideally prefer further.

This step back up in trip looks a good move for POLEMON, who was fourth over 9f at Cork recently and, though 0-5 on the all-weather, he went close on polytrack for previous connections in the UK last year. Napper Tandy hasn't been seen out on the Flat for some time but he was a hurdles winner as recently as June and resumes in this sphere on a potentially handy mark. He is therefore feared most ahead of Squire Danagher, while French Company is a viable each-way option.

Having won well over 1m4f at Tipperary, POLEMON ran a fine race over an inadequate trip at Cork since and could win again.

19:30 Dundalk Handicap 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

STEP TO SOMEWHERE ran well on recent handicap debut and has already shown form on this surface. Out of a Listed winner, she was well beaten in that sole course run last April but that was her career debut, while the first two finishers are now Stakes performers. The selection shaped well at Clonmel and reverting back up a furlong should suit, as she again competes in this 47-65 bracket. Explorers Way doesn't appear ahead of the handicapper but has an excellent record at this distance and four of his five wins have come on the all-weather. Others to consider are Elsa's Pride and Audscar.

ELSA'S PRIDE's stamina was stretched upped to 14.4f at Killarney last time and she is appealing now back down in trip on this all-weather debut. Next on the list is Explorers Way, who boasts a healthy strike rate on synthetics and he is on a workable mark. Audscar has shown glimmers of ability and could go well at a price, while Step To Somewhere gave it a good shot in the first-time visor at Clonmel and she will be a threat if the headgear works equally well second time round.

After a fine handicap debut at Clonmel over a furlong shorter, STEP TO SOMEWHERE (nap) looks ready to go one better over this trip.

20:00 Dundalk Handicap 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MAKAIAH has largely unexciting form but ran satisfactorily in first-time blinkers in a recent Claimer and should compete over a longer distance today. She was well held by the winner at Gowran but the third-placed filly - whom she met off level-weights, was subsequently placed with a rating of 60, suggesting the selection should herself prove competitive from 57. Gardone was well supported on his first two runs of 2024 and while easy turf ground might not have suited then, he is nonetheless 5lb higher than when winning over course-and-distance last month (when racing from out of the handicap). Picpoul has a good course record although seems better over slightly further.

The vote goes to STEPDANCE, who shaped well on debut for this yard in the C&D handicap won by Gardone last month, which was her first run for the best part of a year. She found 12.5f too much of a test at Tipperary since and is appealing back down in trip with Shane Foley in the hot-seat. Picpoul is a regular here and, having been placed off similar marks on three of her last four starts at up to 1½m here, she is likely to be in the thick of things once more. Chopsticks is also shortlisted.

CHOPSTICKS was a well beaten favourite over C&D last time but the run might have come too soon after his cracking Leopardstown third.

20:30 Dundalk Maiden 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BARD OF AVON ran promisingly on Leopardstown debut last October and returned from 308 days off when again running well - in a race which is working out well, at the Curragh last month. By Galileo and out of an Australian Group 3 winner, he presumably met with a setback earlier this year but was nicely supported on Curragh reappearance, when running well. He was well held by winner Fighter, who recently easily won the Petingo Handicap during Champions Festival while the runner-up has also won subsequently. Raydamann disappointed in that Curragh maiden but had previously finished second over this C&D in July with Psalm finishing third.

PSALM should be bang there on the pick of his form and is preferred to Raydamann, Bard of Avon and Daboya

It should only be a matter of time before Aidan O'Brien unlocks the key to PSALM, and the son of Sea The Stars gets the vote.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
