(5) Golden Duke 8/1, Followed a good run with a below-par one when ninth of 11 in handicap (11/2) at Kempton (6f) 8 months ago. Caused a surprise when winning this corresponding event last year (from 3 lb lower) so merits consideration provided he's ready to roll on reappearance.
Lacks a recent run but won this last year so is worth a second look.

13:35 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

With Alex Jary taking 5lb off his back, GOLDEN DUKE effectively runs off 2lb lower than when he won this corresponding race last year and is an attractive option with ground conditions likely to suit. Fellow course winner J R Cavagin also has a lot going for him and rates a player based on previous form, while Showtime Mahomes and Crypto Quest also enter calculations off competitive marks.

A competitive opener in which the suggestion is CRYPTO QUEST, who has hit the crossbar a couple of times already this year and the booking of Rossa Ryan catches the eye. Minnesota Lad looked unlucky not to finish a little closer at Haydock earlier this month, so he heads up the opposition, with last year's surprise winner Golden Duke and J R Cavagin rounding off the shortlist.

C&D winner CRYPTO QUEST went close at Catterick two starts ago and can bounce back from a lesser run at Carlisle.

14:10 Doncaster Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Not much went right for CONSOLIDATION on his racecourse debut at Sandown a fortnight ago but the son of Too Darn Hot, who cost 300,000gns as a yearling, finished the race strongly once he saw daylight and could be hard to beat given he should be a good deal wiser this time. New Century also performed promisingly on his introduction in a similar race at Lingfield and also commands respect. Field Of Gold, a 530,000-euros son of Kingman, appeals most of the newcomers.

Some powerful connections represented in this strong-looking novice and it's CONSOLIDATION who gets the nod to build on his debut effort having finished with running left at Sandown earlier this month. New Century shaped with plenty of encouragement over an inadequate trip at Lingfield recently, so he can provide most resistance switched to turf, with Field of Gold making most appeal of the newcomers.

300,000gns breeze-up buy CONSOLIDATION displayed considerable promise on his recent debut at Sandown and earns the vote.

14:45 Doncaster Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The consistent WICHAHPI has made good progress in three starts this season and, after successfully stepping back up to this trip at Catterick most recently, the Bryan Smart-trained filly has a major chance of following up off just 4lb higher. High Violet dropped a hint that her turn could be near when a close second at Salisbury 17 days ago and rates a key player off the same mark. Novello Lad and Royal Justice are a couple of others to consider.

Preference is for NOVELLO LAD, who hails from a yard in good form and ran well when third at Thirsk 3 weeks ago (pair that beat him drawn much higher). High Violet took her form up a notch when finishing runner-up at Salisbury earlier in the month, so Dave Loughnane's filly can give the selection most to think about, with recent winner Wichahpi and handicap-debutante Royal Justice another couple of interesting runners, too.

Preference is for HIGH VIOLET, who holds appealing claims having finished second at Salisbury last time.

15:20 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Cases can be made for many of these including the lightly-raced Golden Myrrh, who appeared to win with a bit in hand at Wolverhampton earlier this month. She's 4lb higher back on turf but should continue to progress, while Hostelry might not have been seen to best effect over a stiff 1m1f at Carlisle and should appreciate dropping back. A chance, however, is taken on OSCAR'S SISTER. There were positives to take from her reappearance over seven furlongs at Wetherby and the daughter of Dandy Man, who is now 10lb lower than when winning at Haydock in September 2022, could step forward.

There should be more to come from GOLDEN MYRRH, who upped her game significantly when scoring at Wolverhampton earlier this month and remains fairly treated. Notre Dame is feared most.

This could go to the 3yo PRINCESS JASTAR, who has shaped as though she will be suited by the step up in trip on this handicap debut.

SOAMES FORSYTE broke his duck on the grass when winning at Nottingham last time out and a subsequent 2lb rise in the handicap looks more than fair. Ian Williams enlists the services of the in-form Oisin Murphy aboard Beylerbeyi and the Wolverhampton scorer must feature prominently in calculations, while Khathak, who finished a narrow second at Chester a fortnight ago, could prove strongest of the remainder.

BEYLERBEYI was well on top at the finish when successful at Wolverhampton earlier this month and is fancied to follow up. Soames Forsyte and Bay of Australia should also go well.

The mare ARDBRACCAN is enjoying a consistent campaign and can add to her win at Nottingham in April. Beylerbeyi is a danger.

16:30 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The Queen's Vase was far too hot for SEE THE GREEN to handle but the Owen Burrows-trained son of Postponed made good strides prior to that trip to the Royal meeting, making it third-time lucky at Catterick, and can resume that progression. He has yet to encounter ground this quick and if it is a problem, Miss Gitana may be the one to take advantage after hitting the crossbar twice at Beverley. Night Horn and course winner Monsieur Melee command obvious attention, but none of these can be ruled out with any sort of confidence.

MONSIEUR MELEE overcame a pace bias when scoring here last month and looks worth a crack at this longer trip. He gets the nod. Night Horn rates the principal danger.

Having stayed on well to win over 1m4f here last month, MONSIEUR MELEE is open to further improvement now upped in trip once more.

17:05 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although a model of consistency anyway, SISTERANDBROTHER's form has gone to a new level since joining Kevin Frost, with a Haydock victory supplemented by a hard-fought Nottingham triumph. His 5lb penalty means he is 1lb higher than his revised rating, but the Nottingham runner-up came out and went close off a 3lb higher mark so the hat-trick beckons. Glistening Nights landed the odds to break his duck at Wetherby and heads a list of dangers that also includes Prince Achille and Bearwith.

GLISTENING NIGHTS was notably strong in the market when getting off the mark at Wetherby recently and might be able to cope with a 3 lb rise. The hat-trick seeking Sisterandbrother is second choice ahead of the Oisin Murphy-ridden Star Start.

The bang-in-form SISTERANDBROTHER (nap) made it 2-2 for Kevin Frost when winning at Nottingham last week and can defy a 5lb penalty.
