1st (10) (9/2 +31%) Marmalade Time |
9/2(+31%) | (10) Marmalade Time 9/2, Promising first effort when runner-up in Worcester bumper last May. Better effort in 21f Ludlow novice hurdles this winter when third of 13 last month. Returned to form when third at Ludlow and could be thereabouts if backing up that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 +63%) Betty's Tiara |
10/3(+63%) | (3) Betty's Tiara 10/3, Bumper winner who was second on Hereford hurdle debut in January. Not in the same form at Wincanton 4 weeks later but her yard's good form of late provides the hope for better this time. Below par last time but runner-up on hurdle debut previously and she's not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (80/1 +20%) Game Colours |
80/1(+20%) | (6) Game Colours 80/1, Made frame both completed starts in Irish points but pulled up on Ludlow hurdle debut in November. A subsequent wind operation needs to have had a transformative effect. Point runner-up but pulled up at 66-1 on hurdle debut at Ludlow in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (7/2 +75%) Tour Ovalie |
7/2(+75%) | (13) Tour Ovalie 7/2, Progressive in bumpers, sixth of 15 to in listed event at Cheltenham in November. Better effort over hurdles since when third of 10 at Plumpton (2m, soft) 6 weeks ago. Up in trip. Likely has a bigger performance in her. Fair 3rd at Plumpton in January & has hinted this longer trip may suit; not ruled out e-w. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/1 -25%) Lindy Reilly |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Lindy Reilly 10/1, Kayf Tara mare who has shown ability in 2 hurdles at Ludlow this winter but looks more one for handicaps a little further down the line. Promising third at Ludlow on debut; backward step there since but retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (12) (13/2 +0%) Shakeyatailfeather |
13/2(+0%) | (12) Shakeyatailfeather 13/2, Maiden pointer who didn't achieve much in bumpers for Harriet Dickin and Tom Weston but offered more when fourth in a 2m Taunton maiden hurdle for Dan Skelton in January. One of 4 runners from the stable. The form of her yard debut 4th at Taunton has worked out well; open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (4) (14/1 +30%) Charmian's Place |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Charmian's Place 14/1, Fair form when reaching the frame in 2 bumpers last spring but below that level in 2 hurdles this winter. A first-time tongue tie needs to spark improvement. Promise last year in first two bumpers but three lesser runs have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (10/3 +5%) Lily Luna |
10/3(+5%) | (8) Lily Luna 10/3, Made the frame both starts in bumpers and similar story in pair of Wincanton novice hurdles at around 2m late last year. This step up in trip promises to suit. Placed at Wincanton on first two hurdle starts and she's one to consider now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (300/1 -100%) Lily Baloo |
300/1(-100%) | (7) Lily Baloo 300/1, Looks one for the longer term. Well beaten at big odds in both bumpers and same story on her two hurdle starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Although TAKE NO CHANCES was ultimately pulled up on her handicap bow at Newbury in January, she looked to hold every chance but for losing all momentum with a bad mistake at the penultimate hurdle. Compensation could await Dan Skelton's mare now pitched back into novice company, where the main threat may emerge from Lily Luna. The six-year-old is a potential improver now upped in distance, with the lightly-raced Floating Line making most appeal of the remainder.
A couple of the more likely sorts have- dropped out, so this is probably best left to LILY LUNA, who looks very competitive on form and should be suited by the longer trip. Marmalade Time and Shakeyatailfeather have the form to play a part also.
The Dan Skelton-trained SHAKEYATAILFEATHER was an encouraging fourth on her stable debut at Taunton and gets the nod.

Margaret's Legacy |
(5) (5/2 +25%)5/2(+25%) | (5) Margaret's Legacy 5/2, Ex-French chaser who got off the mark over fences at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Reluctant start and made mistakes when creditable second of 6 at Warwick (20f, heavy) 41 days ago. Still needs considering. Slightly mixed messages from this sort of trip but he's an in-form candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (15/2 +38%) Peejaybee |
15/2(+38%) | (4) Peejaybee 15/2, Successful 3 times at up to 2m4f over hurdles but disappointed over fences since, including on yard debut at Market Rasen last time. Others appeal more. 0-5 over fences and none of those performances are persuasive; recent tongue-tie is absent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/4 +68%) Ernest Gray |
9/4(+68%) | (2) Ernest Gray 9/4, Opened his hurdles account here last spring. Stepped up on chase debut display when scoring at Southwell (24.3f) but let down by his attitude when only fourth at Kempton since. Visor is reached for now. Heavy defeat last time strengthens concerns on testing ground; first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +55%) Not At Present |
9/2(+55%) | (3) Not At Present 9/2, Four-time winner over hurdles who came in second of 3 in novice at Bangor (20.3f) on debut over fences in July 2022. Beaten when falling heavily 4 out on first run since at Newbury in January and cheekpieces back on here. Took a tired fall four out at Newbury (2m6f) in January on belated return; headgear back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 +11%) Lagonda |
4/1(+11%) | (6) Lagonda 4/1, Point/hurdles winner who was in good form over fences until coming in a remote third of five at Market Rasen (3m) last time, jumping right. Sort to bounce back. Good second in two of four chases; gave a rather disconcerting display eight weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (2/1 +67%) Good Friday Fairy |
2/1(+67%) | (7) Good Friday Fairy 2/1, Dual 2m4f chase scorer at Fontwell and Uttoxeter this winter but turned in a below-par fourth of 5 in handicap chase at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) 8 days ago. More is required. Did well chasing until disappointing favourite eight days ago; not proven beyond 2m4f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It may pay to persevere with the in-form MARGARET'S LEGACY, particularly now faced with a stiffer test of stamina. A 1lb rise in the ratings for January's runner-up effort at Warwick looks more than fair for Tim Vaughan's charge and he edges the vote ahead of Scrum Diddly. The six-year-old could be freshened up by a 79-day break and this represents a drop in class. Lagonda would also enter calculations if ground conditions were to deteriorate.
SCRUM DIDDLY figures on a handy-looking mark so is taken to open his account over fences in a handicap where several arrive with question marks against them. Both Margaret's Legacy and Lagonda were not foot perfect on their most recent starts at Warwick and Market Rasen respectively but still command plenty of respect and can chase home Harry Derham's 6-y-o in that order.
They all have questions to answer. There is a possible stamina issue but otherwise MARGARET'S LEGACY looks the most solid candidate.

1st (10) (5/2 +77%) Ladronne |
5/2(+77%) | (10) Ladronne 5/2, Ran his best race for a while when second from 3 lb higher mark at Newcastle (20f) in December. Unsuitable trip next 2 starts so expected to bounce back. Failed to stay 3m6f on penultimate start and not disgraced on latest, so not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/8 +61%) Iconic Muddle |
11/8(+61%) | (8) Iconic Muddle 11/8, Relatively low-mileage 11-y-o who resumed from 9 months off with a good second at Wincanton (20.2f, heavy) and backed that up when filling same position at Kempton (24f, soft), seeing out the extra distance well. Unexposed at this trip so needs considering. Close second off this mark at Wincanton (2m4f) and Kempton (first crack at 3m) this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (18/1 -13%) Enqarde |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Enqarde 18/1, Back to form after another wind operation when making a successful reappearance at Warwick. Poor efforts next 2 starts, however, tried in headgear last time. Won in November; possible excuses since but a return to form is hard to bank on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (5/1 +55%) Shanty Alley |
5/1(+55%) | (9) Shanty Alley 5/1, Losing run stretches back to January 2021 but better than bare result last 2 starts and mark continues to ease. Not dismissed. Needs better than he's delivered on last two outings but he's well down the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/2 +10%) Storm Control |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Storm Control 9/2, Winless in 4 starts last term and well held on return to action in veteran company at Cheltenham despite being prominent in the betting. However, mark continues to tumble and this represents a drop in class. First-time-out record was big worry in December; yard had excellent strike-rate last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
ICONIC MUDDLE once again found just one rival too strong when runner-up at Kempton last month. The 11-year-old races off the same mark in this contest and he looks to hold every chance of going one place better now pitched into veteran company. Crosspark clearly still retains plenty of his ability having been collared in the shadows of the post at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Nick Kent's gelding may give the selection most to think about, while First Lord De Cuet is noted too.
Plenty to consider but STORM CONTROL is worth another chance in veteran company off a tempting mark down in class with his yard bang in form. Iconic Muddle ran a cracker on his first go at this trip when second at Kempton and is another to consider along with admirable 14-y-o Crosspark.
Most can be given an each-way chance but ICONIC MUDDLE (nap) tops the list from Fidux and Risk And Roll.

1st (4) (6/4 +79%) Pilgrims King |
6/4(+79%) | (4) Pilgrims King 6/4, Arrives in good form, finishing runner-up in handicap hurdle at this course (19.4f, heavy) 11 days ago. Up to going one better from this sort of mark so he's certainly not discounted back over the larger obstacles. Pulled up last January on sole chase start but in good form over hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/4 +39%) Ideallko |
11/4(+39%) | (8) Ideallko 11/4, Has improved for the switch to chasing, getting off the mark at Ffos Las in October and following up at Plumpton (19.8f). Seemed unsuited by testing conditions back at former course in November, before likely to have gone close but for falling at the last at Sedgefield last time. Respected. Keeping on in 3rd when falling at Sedgefield; could have more to offer; has ground query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/2 +63%) Walk In The Wild |
9/2(+63%) | (6) Walk In The Wild 9/2, Made the perfect start sent chasing last season, winning his first two starts. However, he's lost his way this season and increasingly looks one to oppose despite his tumbling mark. Below par this season but well treated; check betting on second outing since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 +50%) Beat The Edge |
7/2(+50%) | (5) Beat The Edge 7/2, Should have won at Sedgefield on Boxing Day, turning it in once hitting the front, but left a lesser effort behind when third of 8 in handicap chase at Catterick (15.7f, soft) 5 days ago. Come with obvious risks attached, so percentage call is to look elsewhere. Poor strike-rate but often runs well, as at Catterick on Tuesday; might not be far away. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having previously won over the extended 2m3f here over hurdles, OKAVANGO DELTA has solid form credentials based on peak efforts and, given he has bags of scope to improve over fences, the Rose Dobbin-trained gelding might take some stopping. The consistent My Gift To You is 2-3 in chases so far and also warrants serious thought following his second-placed finish at Southwell latest. Pilgrims King is another to note in the betting.
A few in with a squeak but MY GIFT TO YOU has yet to run a bad race since joining James Owen, and having pulled clear with an improved rival at Southwell last month, he's fancied to regain the winning thread at the expense of Gambie Tiep, who possibly needed the run at Ffos Las recently and returns with his yard firing on all cylinders. Pilgrims King and Okavango Delta can fight out minor honours.
The 6yo MY GIFT TO YOU has done very well over fences this season and is taken to make it three wins from his four chase starts.

1st (3) (5/2 +58%) Velasco |
5/2(+58%) | (3) Velasco 5/2, Free-goer but he found for pressure when landing a bit of a punt at Sedgefield 3 weeks ago (19.9f). Just about stays this far but 5 lb rise asks for more. Often front-runner; no lack of experience and he's found his level again since last May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +68%) Ri Na Cuirte |
9/2(+68%) | (5) Ri Na Cuirte 9/2, Finished runner-up on the second of 2 starts in Irish points and shaped with some encouragement when fifth of 15 in a Chepstow (19.4f) on Rules debut. Failed to build on that since and now goes markedly up in trip for handicap debut. Backward steps on soft/heavy last two starts; handicap debut demands overall improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/2 +55%) Ismael |
5/2(+55%) | (7) Ismael 5/2, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap hurdle in the mud at Uttoxeter last month, driven out. Kept to a left-handed track, which will suit but has to confirm stamina for 3m. Won at Uttoxeter (2m4f, heavy) on latest run and there was plenty of the stayer about that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 +42%) Aeronisi |
7/2(+42%) | (4) Aeronisi 7/2, Modest over hurdles for Tim Vaughan but much improved when making a winning chase bow at Fontwell for this yard in March 202, beating a subsequent winner. Excellent second 7 months later but he's bene off the track even longer this time (16 months). Market may guide back over timber. 1st and 2nd over 3m2f on good as a chaser in 2022; off since and needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (13/2 +46%) Ballynaheer |
13/2(+46%) | (11) Ballynaheer 13/2, Runner-up on his completed outing in points and recorded his best hurdling effort on his handicap bow when third of 9 at Southwell (24.3f, soft) a month ago. Eased 2 lb since. 12l third on handicap debut at Southwell (3m) which he needs to build on in a major way. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This is tougher than the races Velasco and Ismael landed on their most recent starts and, while they command respect as last-time-out winners, the class-dropping LADY MENDOZA looks the way to go. The selection was last seen finishing a close second in a much deeper race at Musselburgh in November and, given that effort came on the back of a break, Rebecca Menzies' mare appears well placed to make a winning return to action. The lightly-raced Aeronisi is feared most reverting to hurdles off a competitive mark.
A wide-open handicap but LADY MENDOZA chased home a progressive rival at Musselburgh when last seen in November and, from the same mark, he looks the way to go back up in trip. A bounce back from Diamond Twin would come as no surprise given the yard he represents, with Aeronisi one to monitor closely in the market back from a long time off.
His 2m4f win on heavy going looked encouraging for his prospects at this longer trip, so ISMAEL gets the vote. Aeronisi is next.

1st (1) (8/15 +7%) Mister Meggit |
8/15(+7%) | (1) Mister Meggit 8/15, Looked a very good prospect when easy winner on his Carlisle debut in November. Looks more than capable of defying a penalty. Very impressive on debut at Carlisle in November & sets strong form standard under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/4 +68%) De Kingpin |
9/4(+68%) | (2) De Kingpin 9/4, Well-bred 5-y-o who was picked up for £70,000 after finishing runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points. New yard has had a few first-time-out bumper winners lately, including here, so a market move would looks significant. Well-bred point runner-up who makes rules debut with new trainer in fine form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (11/1 +21%) Zainy Champ |
11/1(+21%) | (9) Zainy Champ 11/1, €10,500 Youmzain gelding. Dam, bumper winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (2½m-3m winner) Noisy Miner. Wears hood on debut. The betting should guide. 10,500euros 3yo; wears a hood on debut; others are more compelling on paper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (25/1 +24%) Hms Milo |
25/1(+24%) | (4) Hms Milo 25/1, Milan gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Lord Roccoco. Dam (h99) 2m hurdle winner, also 1¼m winner on Flat. Best watched on debut unless the betting speaks in his favour. Newcomer; half-brother to Lord Roccoco (RPR 123); may be one for further down the line. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A convincing winner of a similar race on his racecourse debut at Carlisle in November, MISTER MEGGIT has been given plenty of time to get over those exertions and looks up to coping with a 7lb penalty here. That said, the son of Shantou faces a stiffer test this time with Paul Nicholls' expensive newcomer Super Saint suggested as one to seriously consider if he's supported in the betting. The Dan Skelton-trained The New Lion is another to bear in mind.
MISTER MEGGIT looked very good on debut and has to be the call but newcomer De Kingpin would need to be considered if the money came for him.
The Jonjo O'Neill-trained MISTER MEGGIT created an excellent impression on his debut at Carlisle in November and can defy a penalty.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
