MY MATE ALFIE made an excellent start to his career when going down by a neck to The Liffey over C&D, with Mountain Bear back in sixth. That sets a fair standard and he can provide Ger Lyons with a third consecutive victory in this maiden. Kortez Bay offered promise when fourth on his debut, also over track and trip, but the chief threat could come from one of the choicely-bred newcomers, with House Of Aviz, Bennu and Gloucester making particular appeal.
MY MATE ALFIE failed only narrowly to make a winning debut over C&D and can go one better now with improvement very much on the cards. Aidan O'Brien's duo Mountain Bear and House of Aviz could emerge as the chief threats and can chase home Ger Lyons's son of Dark Angel in that order.
MY MATE ALFIE did well to finish 2nd over C&D on debut and if he finds any improvement from that, he will be hard to beat

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This contest has the potential to throw up some well above-average performers and a tentative vote goes to BETULA. Jessica Harrington won this contest in 2021 with Discoveries, who went on to land the Moyglare, and the daughter of Lope De Vega makes a fair amount of appeal as her dam is a half-sister to Discoveries, as well as star fillies Alpha Centauri and Alpine Star. Aidan O'Brien's pair Opera Singer and Ylang Ylang both command the utmost respect, while others to note include Finsceal Luas, Centuria and She's Quality.
A field of newcomers and YLANG YLANG stands out on paper being a very expensive daughter of Frankel. Stablemate Opera Singer is respected as well, along with Dollerina.
All newcomers here and Frankel filly YLANG YLANG, an expensive yearling purchase, has been chosen by Ryan Moore over Opera Singer

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Navagio looked better than ever when winning in first-time cheekpieces at Limerick recently and he's not taken lightly, despite the handicapper having his say with an 8lb hike. A chance, however, is taken on three-year-old filly NOT EVEN CLOSE. The daughter of Zoustar ran with plenty of encouragement when only weakening inside the final furlong on her handicap debut here last month and a 3lb drop in the ratings looks potentially lenient. Verhoyen, Pandora Lovegood and Midnight Fire are others to note in a competitive contest.
A stack to consider as you'd expect, with NOT EVEN CLOSE fancied to go well after a good run in a 3-y-o C&D handicap on 2000 Guineas day that worked out nicely. Vocal Studies and Limerick-winner Navagio are firmly in the mix also.
It may be worth forgiving CAPUCHINERO her latest start when clearly not on song and she had previously looked like a progressive sort

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ALMA LIBRE was a good winner over 1m2f at Fairyhouse last time and a repeat of that success would see her take the beating in this contest. Apprentice jockey Danny Sheehy was on board on that day and he retains the ride today. Gradulations has been running consistently this term and she rates as the biggest danger, with this step up in trip likely to suit, while Queen Of Seduction should also be thereabouts.
Any number to consider, but LYGON STREET should blossom over this sort of trip and in receipt of weight from most of these, he's just about the most persuasive option. Votre Homme is going the right way and is feared, while Tudor City is dangerous with his reappearance behind him.
Not an easy race to get a handle on. GRADULATIONS steps up in trip with sound each-way prospects for one of the leading apprentices.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Overheer and Court Of Appeal both arrive on the back of a winning performance and should go well in search of a double, but they have no margin for error after going up 7lb and 6lb respectively in the ratings. Conversely, fellow last-start scorer KODIAC PRINCE could still be feasibly treated as a 5lb rise for scoring over 1m at Gowran 12 days still leaves him on a 3lb lower mark than when he won at Naas 10 months ago and he gets the nod to follow up today. Operatic Artist must be respected for Joseph O'Brien after a couple of good efforts in defeat, while Barrys Rock and Dabana are also worth a second look.
The vote goes to OPERATIC ARTIST, who shaped well when third on her handicap debut at Leopardstown and almost certainly would've finished closer than she did at Limerick last time granted better luck-in-running. She is probably capable of better than her current mark implies and the likely strong pace here is expected to work in her favour. Dabana was in good form on the AW earlier this year and is second choice ahead of Imposing Supreme and Kodiac Prince.
The tentative vote goes to THEFULLBACKLINE who showed some promise in maiden company and he's better than his effort on h'cap debut

18/1(+0%) | (8) Golden Spangle 18/1, 6/5, creditable second of 11 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good) 25 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip. Going the right way and is likely to be on the premises again. Consistent if frustrating type, beaten favourite in three of her last five races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (40/1 +0%) Eyeeye |
40/1(+0%) | (7) Eyeeye 40/1, 14/1, tenth of 13 in maiden at Gowran (9.4f, good) 25 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Difficult ask. Has failed to build on a promising Irish debut over C&D last October, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (18/1 -80%) Paradise Perfect |
18/1(-80%) | (9) Paradise Perfect 18/1, Creditable third of 10 in maiden (10/3) at Limerick (7f, good) 6 days ago. Upped in trip for handicap debut and not taken lightly. Placed in four consecutive maidens, probably needs to raise his game to feature here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Semblance Of Order has been flying since being beaten just a neck into third behind Tea Olive at Gowran, although the winner that day is just as consistent and they meet on the same terms. They come up against some interesting handicap debutants, though, with Nation's Call and Roman Hands towards the top of that list, but THE FRANCHISE has shown plenty of ability in maiden company and Joseph O'Brien's Siyouni colt could be the best treated.
THE FRANCHISE shaped well (travelled strongly) when second in a maiden at Fairyhouse last time and he's bred to get the longer trip, so he gets the tentative vote in what looks like a competitive affair on paper. Recent Leopardstown winner Semblance of Order could emerge as the main danger, although Roman Hands is one of several others for whom a case could be made
There may be better to come to from recent Leopardstown winner SEMBLANCE OF ORDER who is just preferred to Nation's Call

200/1(-300%) | (6) Rio Doce 200/1, €6,500 foal, Harzand gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 7f/1m winner Holiday Magic and 7f winner Coolnagree. Not an obvious sort on paper. Half-brother to Group-placed winner Coolnagree and to prolific scorer Holiday Magic. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
All eyes will be on the well-bred SATURN in this contest, being the first progeny of multiple Group 1 winner Alpha Centauri for the same connections. The selection is by Galileo as well, which bodes well for stamina purposes, and he gets the vote ahead of fellow debutant Ultra Fine, who has some smart relations himself. Jupiter Rock is open to improvement on what he showed on debut at Naas last November, while the same can be said of Kadeen.
SATURN has a tremendous pedigree and starts out in what might not be a strong maiden for the track, so she's worth chancing to make a winning start before going on to better things. Ultra Fine is another notable newcomer and Kadeen is open to improvement after a mildly encouraging debut.
A tentative vote goes to KADEEN who was placed over 1m at Dundalk on his only start at two and should appreciate this trip
Ths is the racecard key.
