1st (6) (7/1 +22%) Wyenot |
7/1(+22%) | (6) Wyenot 7/1, Won a trio of novice hurdles last season and ran creditably pitched into better company when third in 9-runner listed event at this course (20.2f) 6 months ago. Makes handicap debut from a fair-looking mark. 3-5 in novice hurdles last season and may have some improvement to come in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (17/2 +15%) Anna Bunina |
17/2(+15%) | (2) Anna Bunina 17/2, Useful hurdler who ran better than for a while when fifth of 15 at Bellewstown in August. Creditable effort in the Cesarewitch Handicap back on the Flat since. Ran well in the Cesarewitch this month and reverts to hurdling with conditions suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 -100%) Anyharminasking |
16/1(-100%) | (3) Anyharminasking 16/1, Right back on the up when second at Newbury (20.5f) in December but didn't impress with his finishing effort at Doncaster and Kelso last 2 outings. Wears first-time cheekpieces on seasonal return. No win since early 2022 but ran big race in defeat on last season's reappearance outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (9/2 +18%) Letterston Lily |
9/2(+18%) | (12) Letterston Lily 9/2, Bumper winner at the third attempt and made it 2-3 in novice hurdles at Worcester (20f) in August. Cemented her positive start when creditable third on handicap debut back at that venue but it was a bit disconcerting she shaped to run out and unseated at the first at Chepstow 13 days ago. Third in valuable series final on last month's handicap debut and may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +29%) Push The Button |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Push The Button 5/1, Progressive in bumpers and made it 2 wins from 3 starts over hurdles when taking 7-runner novice (21f, heavy) at Warwick last November. Off since but yard's runners rarely lack for fitness and he's a most interesting handicap debutant. Looked promising when 2-3 in novice hurdles last autumn; considered on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/2 -17%) In The Air |
7/2(-17%) | (9) In The Air 7/2, Gambled on and made a mockery of his much-reduced mark on first start since leaving Adam West in 9-runner handicap at Southwell (20.4f) earlier in the month. Had more in hand the margin implies when following up under a 7-lb penalty at Exeter and looks sure to go well in his-hat-trick bid. Resurgent 6yo who is 2-2 for new stable this month and remains well treated on old form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (16/1 +43%) Royale Margaux |
16/1(+43%) | (10) Royale Margaux 16/1, Prolific in France but winless for this yard and effort typically proved short-lived at Uttoxeter on final outing in May. Back over hurdles now with plenty to prove. Has lost her way over fences this year; back hurdling after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (10/1 -43%) Callin Baton Rouge |
10/1(-43%) | (13) Callin Baton Rouge 10/1, Is on a roll for her new yard, making it 3 wins from as many starts in 9-runner handicap at Stratford (16.3f, good) 48 days ago, readily. Hiked up 12 lb but may not yet have finished improving. 3-3 since claimed out of a seller in May; hiked up in grade today, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (18/1 +18%) American Sniper |
18/1(+18%) | (7) American Sniper 18/1, Resumed winning ways in first-time tongue strap here last November but ended last season on a low-key note and fared no better on his reappearance in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow 13 days ago. Won 20-runner handicap here last autumn but not in the same form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (50/1 -52%) Deep Cave |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Deep Cave 50/1, Successful chaser in France who doubled his career tally when bagging 10-runner minor event hurdle at Clairefontaine (17.7f, soft) in July. Handicapper has taken no chances with his mark now starting out for another new yard. Has changed hands since slow-ground win in France in July; market may guide here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (33/1 +18%) Bass Rock |
33/1(+18%) | (8) Bass Rock 33/1, Chase/hurdles winner but struggled for form over fences last season and now reverts to hurdling for a new yard (had left Sandy Thomson) after 6 months off. Out of form last season but makes stable debut from very tempting mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (66/1 -65%) Annsam |
66/1(-65%) | (1) Annsam 66/1, Likeable chaser who scored twice over 3m last season. Much lower in the weights in this sphere but is possibly using this as a pipe-opener ahead of a return to chasing. Very useful 3m chaser at his best but absent since April 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (9/1 -38%) Support Act |
9/1(-38%) | (11) Support Act 9/1, Fairly useful bumper winner who proved a vastly different proposition to on his hurdling debut when dispatching a last-time-out winner with the minimum of fuss in a Doncaster novice (16.6f) in February. Into handicaps now and looks sure to go on to better things. Won Doncaster novice very comfortably in February and remains very unexposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A progressive mare throughout most of her novice campaign, WYENOT was last seen finishing a highly creditable third here behind a Festival winner in April. A mark of 123 on her handicap debut could prove lenient and she is narrowly preferred to In The Air, who arrives on a hat-trick following recent victories at Southwell and Exeter. Callin Baton Rouge has been a revelation since joining new connections and must be thereabouts, along with Push The Button and Support Act.
IN THE AIR has revived in no uncertain terms for his new yard and, having defied a penalty with more in hand than the bare margin would suggest at Exeter 15 days ago, he is fancied to complete the hat-trick. Support Act and Push The Button are a pair of interesting handicap debutantes who require the utmost respect.
Nicky Henderson's IN THE AIR has been back in prime form for his new stable this month and is taken to compete a quickfire hat-trick.

1st (5) (5/6 +17%) Path D'oroux |
5/6(+17%) | (5) Path D'oroux 5/6, Yet to score over fences but acquitted himself well in valuable handicaps over this sort of trip back in the spring, making the frame at Leopardstown, here and Aintree. Returns from 6 months off and every chance he can break his duck in this sphere. Yard won this last year, too. 0-10 over fences but ran some commendable races in defeat in major handicaps last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (18/1 -13%) Jazzy Matty |
18/1(-13%) | (1) Jazzy Matty 18/1, Fred Winter winner in 2023 and has matched those exploits over fences this season, opening his account at Wexford in August and wasting no time putting a physical mishap behind him to double his tally at Sligo (21.1f, good) recently. Back down in trip and will need to take a step forward. Dual chase winner this season but faces tough assignment under 8lb penalty here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 +72%) Noble Anthem |
14/1(+72%) | (3) Noble Anthem 14/1, Fairly useful Flat winner who is lightly raced over jumps and clearly learnt plenty from his initial experience over fences when winning 5-runner handicap at Sedgefield (17f, good to soft) earlier this month, quickening clear before last. Better to come but up against some big Irish yards here. Readily won Sedgefield handicap this month but faces much tougher task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/3 +39%) San Salvador |
10/3(+39%) | (2) San Salvador 10/3, Getting his act together over fences now, opening his account at Listowel last month before adding to his tally in Grade 3 at Roscommon (16.7f, soft) 8 days later, showing a superior turn of foot to take care of the outsider. Neither of those wins look bombproof, however. Displayed good turn of foot in Roscommon Grade 3 last month and must be considered here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Gavin Cromwell landed this contest last year and he can do so once more with PATH D'OROUX, who has been presented with a decent opportunity to get off the mark over fences. Third in the Grand Annual over C&D in March, and placed in valuable handicaps either side of that, the seven-year-old sets the standard and may have too much for San Salvador, who arrives on the back of a comfortable Grade 3 success at Roscommon. A Festival winner here in the past, Jazzy Matty cannot be ruled out following a recent victory over 2m5f at Sligo.
A disappointing turnout from British-trained runners but PATH D'OROUX held his form well back in the spring so, provided he's ready to roll, this looks a good opening for Gavin Cromwell's 7-y-o to open his account over the larger obstacles. The main danger may emerge from San Salvador, who is progressive and arrives chasing a quick-fire hat-trick, while Shecouldbeanything, who is declared to run at Clonmel on Thursday, would be a leading player if lining up, too.
This looks a good opportunity for Grand Annual third PATH D'OROUX to get a belated chase win on the board.

1st (4) (3/1 +54%) Calico |
3/1(+54%) | (4) Calico 3/1, Largely held form well in defeat last season, including a second to Triple Trade over C&D. Pulled up at Kempton when last seen in May but he has a decent record fresh and is back on a good mark. Ran big race in defeat over C&D last autumn and makes seasonal debut from good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 +0%) Matata |
5/2(+0%) | (2) Matata 5/2, Headstrong sort but it didn't prevent him making up into a smart novice chaser last term. Ended his season on a low note at Aintree but capable of bouncing back with a bang after a break. Free-going front-runner; smart novice chaser last season; could take some catching here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 -25%) Dancing On My Own |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Dancing On My Own 5/1, Smart chaser who saw off Triple Trade in this race 12 months ago. Made hard work of landing short odds on soft ground at Ballinrobe in August but the likely sounder surface here should be more to his liking and he's only 2 lb higher than last year. Won this in 2023 but has not been in the same form since; needs to up his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 +13%) Coastguard Station |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Coastguard Station 14/1, Produced a career-best effort to resume winning ways in 2m Uttoxeter handicap chase in June. Sharper for a recent outing over hurdles at Hexham but he'll need another career best to come out on top here. Career-best form when winning at Uttoxeter this summer but even more is needed today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (15/2 +38%) Scarface |
15/2(+38%) | (7) Scarface 15/2, Thrived over fences when cheekpieces went on, winning 3 times around 2½m between January and April. Good third of 12 over 20.5f here on final start. Shorter trip the slight worry on return. Did very well in cheekpieces in early part of year; player if coping with drop back to 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (13/2 +7%) Triple Trade |
13/2(+7%) | (6) Triple Trade 13/2, Second to Dancing On My Own in this race last year before seeing off Calico over C&D at the Open meeting. Ended last season with a respectable fifth of 15 in the Red Rum at Aintree. Has to enter the reckoning under Cobden. Below form at end of last season but big player if judged on late-2023 form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (12/1 -71%) Arclight |
12/1(-71%) | (5) Arclight 12/1, Won first 3 chases at the end of 2023. Never going after an early mistake in a Kempton Grade 2 in February and not seen since. No surprise were she to resume her progression now handicapping back from 8 months off. Took very well to chasing as a 4yo last autumn (three wins); further progress possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (66/1 -65%) Sir Tivo |
66/1(-65%) | (9) Sir Tivo 66/1, Veteran who has been a bit hit and miss so far this season and is likely to find this too competitive. Ran well at Stratford two starts ago but has been inconsistent this year; others stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
MATATA may have been found out in Grade 1 company towards the back end of last season, but he remains a talented sort to keep on side as he makes his first foray outside of novice company. The six-year-old has an unblemished record when fresh and may be able to strike at the main expense of last year's winner Dancing On My Own, who arrives in top form following a comfortable success at Ballinrobe in August. Calico has gone well here before more than once, while Arclight remains an interesting prospect in this sphere.
CALICO has dipped to 1 lb lower than when second over C&D on last year's reappearance and might prove the answer to this useful handicap. Last year's winner Dancing On My Own should give it another good shot, while Matata looks feasibly treated on the pick of last season's novice form.
Dan Skelton's CALICO signed off with a poor run in May but resumes on a good mark and with conditions in his favour.

1st (3) (3/1 +50%) Valgrand |
3/1(+50%) | (3) Valgrand 3/1, Very useful form shown in bumpers and he scored readily over hurdles in 2m Uttoxeter maiden and 2m4f Bangor novice in May. Holds solid claims with more to come after a break. 2-2 hurdling; no question that this commands a career best but going the right way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/5 +0%) Gale Mahler |
4/5(+0%) | (6) Gale Mahler 4/5, Has improved with every run and she made it 6 wins on the spin (including bumpers) in 8-runner listed hurdle at Galway (2m) in July. Holds leading form claims here. Improving mare who waltzed home in an Irish Listed hurdle last time; sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (18/1 +10%) Dancing In Paris |
18/1(+10%) | (5) Dancing In Paris 18/1, Is enjoying a very good season on the Flat, bagging his third victory at Southwell in August. This is no easy introduction but he's still much respected now starting out over hurdles. Useful Flat performer and has had a good year; if jumping okay he could have some say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/2 +0%) Brave Knight |
11/2(+0%) | (4) Brave Knight 11/2, A fairly useful 2m winner on Flat for Sir Mark Prescott and he went 3-3 over hurdles for his new stable this summer in 2m Newton Abbot novice in August. Capable of better yet so he must enter calculations. Stayer on the Flat; 3-3 over hurdles and his latest piece of form has been well franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -14%) Imaginarium |
16/1(-14%) | (1) Imaginarium 16/1, Useful Irish 9f winner on Flat for Ger Lyons and made a winning start over hurdles on his sole start for Lucinda Russell in 2m Perth maiden in May. Starts out for another good yard now and he's much respected. Flat winner; made heavy weather of winning a very average hurdle at Perth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (33/1 -32%) Strong Foundations |
33/1(-32%) | (2) Strong Foundations 33/1, A fair bumper performer who made a winning start in this sphere in 11-runner novice hurdle at Warwick (16f, good) 22 days ago. Open to improvement but will need to in this company. Prevailed narrowly at Warwick and has considerably more on his plate in today's company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
GALE MAHLER registered a sixth win on the bounce when stepped up to Listed company at the Galway Festival and the five-year-old has been found an excellent opportunity to continue her splendid run of form. Valgrand finished fourth in the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree before a pair of hurdling victories in May. He may prove to be the most obvious threat on his return from a break, although useful Flat performer Brave Knight has taken well to hurdling and is one to keep on the right side of.
A fascinating Grade 2 event. GALE MAHLER has carried all before her thus far and is impossible to side against in her bid to go 5-5 over hurdles on the back of an impressive Galway listed victory. Both Valgrand (second choice) and Brave Knight are with top yards and also unbeaten in this sphere so should ensure Adrian Keatley's likeable mare doesn't have things all her own way.
Gale Mahler has been making the game look easy but BRAVE KNIGHT can make it interesting with his recent form well franked.

1st (7) (10/1 +17%) The Newest One |
10/1(+17%) | (7) The Newest One 10/1, Fairly useful hurdler who easily got off the mark at Chepstow in December. Ran creditably at Newbury 7 months ago. Hasn't been seen for a while in this sphere but he's on a feasible mark. Was well held in this two years ago but there's nothing wrong with his mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (16) (33/1 -65%) Jimmy The Digger |
33/1(-65%) | (16) Jimmy The Digger 33/1, Looked out of sorts towards the end of last season and didn't offer a great deal of encouragement at Warwick a month ago. Others preferred. Previous winner of this but struggles continued on his Warwick reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (19) (33/1 +67%) Jessie Lightfoot |
33/1(+67%) | (19) Jessie Lightfoot 33/1, Revitalised by a return to Henry Oliver, scoring over fences at Taunton and Southwell before a solid fifth (from 2 lb out of weights) at Worcester. Shaped as if still in form there last time and can't be ruled out. A winner over 3m2f so she stays and until last time had been running well this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (28/1 -100%) Landen Calling |
28/1(-100%) | (4) Landen Calling 28/1, Latest win in chase at Market Rasen in December. Has edged back to a handy mark but may need this return. Respectable effort at Punchestown in May and this is his type of race; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (11/1 -10%) Strictlyadancer |
11/1(-10%) | (11) Strictlyadancer 11/1, Won 3 on the bounce over fences during 2021/22. Missed the following season and record since has been patchy. Travelled well when fourth at Chepstow last time and looks a big player if he can build on it. Previous winner of this and ran a positive race at Chepstow two weeks back when beaten 12l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (5/1 +29%) Ceanndana |
5/1(+29%) | (9) Ceanndana 5/1, Highly progressive this season and gained his third win from his last 4 starts (including over hurdles) with another likeable display over fences at Sligo last time. Another bold showing is on the cards. Consistent 7yo and, other than this rise in class, has a lot in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (16/1 +36%) Hold Your Fort |
16/1(+36%) | (12) Hold Your Fort 16/1, Really turned a corner since upped in trip over fences, posting his best effort yet when completing a Newton Abbot (25.8f, good) 4-timer just under in September. Only found one too good at Wincanton 8 days ago and could go well again. Had a great summer but now looks vulnerable to better-treated opposition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (17) (11/1 +56%) Planned Paradise |
11/1(+56%) | (17) Planned Paradise 11/1, Scored at Perth in the summer and back on track when runner-up at Warwick a month ago. Jumping may let him down. This is deeper than the Warwick 3m1f handicap in which he found one too good a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (16/1 +52%) Wick Green |
16/1(+52%) | (14) Wick Green 16/1, Sliding in the weights and took a step back in the right direction when third of 5 at Fontwell three weeks ago. Visored for the first time, so not a forlorn hope. Mostly unconvincing since two good runs here early last season, including in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (10/1 -25%) Mole Court |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Mole Court 10/1, Much improved since sent chasing, making it 5 wins in this sphere at Huntingdon in April. Not disgraced at Market Rasen 3 months ago and returns with stable going well. Won this last year but will do well to repeat the trick off a 10lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (22/1 -22%) St Denis's Well |
22/1(-22%) | (8) St Denis's Well 22/1, 11/2, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (24f, good) 18 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Cheekpieces back on. Worth considering. Irish raider who is only a 6yo and 3-6 over fences; excellent jockey booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) (18/1 -29%) The Boola Boss |
18/1(-29%) | (15) The Boola Boss 18/1, Showed improved form to notch a third victory over fences at Stratford in May, albeit it was a thin race. Looked undone by a rise at same course next time, so others are likely to prove better treated. All wins on good ground so his recent third on soft at Stratford was passable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (5/1 +17%) Are U Wise To That |
5/1(+17%) | (2) Are U Wise To That 5/1, Made winning return/chase debut at Warwick last season and added to that with victory here (25.3f) in December. Didn't fire subsequently but could have been tuned up for a big run. Course winner; can improve some more and the booking of Derek O'Connor bodes well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (1) (50/1 -79%) Back On The Lash |
50/1(-79%) | (1) Back On The Lash 50/1, Dual Cross-Country winner here but didn't have much spark about him last season. Pulled up at Huntingdon 5 months ago and has an uphill task on return. Quiet last season and remains risky business despite his reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (13) (22/1 +12%) No But I Will |
22/1(+12%) | (13) No But I Will 22/1, Point/hurdles winner who left reappearance effort well behind when making successful chase debut at Wetherby (24.2f) last November. However, rather gone backwards since and has now left Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero (off 8 months). Signed off for former yard on a downer and has more to prove than many in here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (18) (7/1 +50%) Individualiste |
7/1(+50%) | (18) Individualiste 7/1, Recorded a facile success eased in class/equipped with cheekpieces over hurdles at Taunton (19f) in December. However, that proved a weak race and he's been unable to match it, including over fences. Has left Paul Nicholls (and off 7 months) prior to this. Lost his way for Paul Nicholls but on winning hurdle mark and new stable much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/1 +7%) Atlanta Brave |
7/1(+7%) | (6) Atlanta Brave 7/1, rish point winner who was 2-4 over hurdles last season and all the better for return/chase bow when second at Exeter last November. Ended the season out of sorts but could go well fresh. 0-4 over fences but twice runner-up in good handicaps; still lightly raced, he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (125/1 -213%) Amateur |
125/1(-213%) | (3) Amateur 125/1, Unreliable type who is firmly into the veteran stage of his career and was pulled up at Chepstow a fortnight ago. Hard to fancy in this competitive environment on the back of that. Pulled up in four of his last five starts and best days come at Ffos Las. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Jacks Parrot is likely to prove popular after victories at Uttoxeter and Perth in the spring, when building on his UK debut effort. The five-year-old is expected to have more to offer, despite being 8lb higher, but the vote goes to CEANNDANA. The Irish challenger showcased his versatility when dropping back in trip to win at Sligo earlier in the month and appears capable of further progression. Last year's winner Mole Court, Are U Wise To That and Hold Your Fort can fight it out for the minor honours.
CEANNDANA arrives on a steep upward curve and probably has even more to offer, so he takes marginal preference ove Jacks Parrot, who is also on the up but doesn't have the benefit of a recent run. Are U Wise To That is better than a mark of 127 on his day and merits respect coming back fresh.
The 2021 winner STRICTLYADANCER has a chance of ending his drought after an encouraging return from a break at Chepstow recently.

1st (4) (6/5 +31%) Potters Charm |
6/5(+31%) | (4) Potters Charm 6/5, £105,000 4-y-o, Valirann gelding. Finished runner-up only start in points and looked a fine prospect when winning 6-runner Ffos Las bumper (15.8f, heavy) in March. Well on top when landing the odds on hurdles debut a month ago and he's sure to leave bare form well behind. Comfortably justified favouritism in a bumper and maiden hurdle (2m4f); nice prospect. |

2nd (3) (2/1 +11%) Minella Sixo |
2/1(+11%) | (3) Minella Sixo 2/1, £115,000 5-y-o, Shantou gelding. Brother to useful dual bumper winner Brechin Castle, and half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Wynn House, stays 3m. Won sole start in points and merely kept up to his work to remain unbeaten 5 months later at Fairyhouse 3 weeks ago. In the right hands to progress. Kept jumping to his right at Fairyhouse but still won comfortably by 8l. |

8/1(-33%) | (7) First Confession 8/1, Won sole start in Irish points in November and sold on for £140,000 soon after. Represents in-form yard ahead of Rules debut. Fetched £140,000 at the sales soon after winning a heavy-ground point over 3m in Ireland. |

4th (8) (18/1 -29%) Cloonainra |
18/1(-29%) | (8) Cloonainra 18/1, Made a winning start to her career under Rules in 13-runner maiden hurdle at Sligo (17.8f, soft). Made a few mistakes when third under a penalty at Downpatrick but she receives weight all round. In against the boys once more here and probably needs to progress again. |

5th (2) (7/1 +13%) Kingston James |
7/1(+13%) | (2) Kingston James 7/1, Successful on his completed start in points and made a winning start under Rules in a bumper at Ayr, making all and looking very professional. Sound effort under a penalty 2 months later and heavily backed, he landed the odds at Hexham 3 weeks ago. Up in trip and there's more to come. Won an average novice at Hexham 21 days ago but he's a horse with potential. |

6th (1) (28/1 +15%) Ailt An Chorrain |
28/1(+15%) | (1) Ailt An Chorrain 28/1, Failed to win in 4 point starts but caused a bit of a surprise when making a successful hurdles debut at Perth in August (2m) responding well. Step up in trip will suit but much more needed under a penalty. This is a way better race than the maiden hurdle he won at Perth in August. |

7th (6) (50/1 +24%) Better Off Alone |
50/1(+24%) | (6) Better Off Alone 50/1, €13,000 3-y-o, Ocovango gelding. Dam, unraced, closely related to fairly useful hurdler (stays 25f) Wonderwall. Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points and given a considerate introduction to hurdling ay Worcester last month, finishing well behind Potters Charm. Well behind Potters Charm last time and asking a lot to turn around that 40l deficit. |

8th (5) (125/1 -150%) Beaufort Breeze |
125/1(-150%) | (5) Beaufort Breeze 125/1, £9,000 5-y-o, first foal, dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler (stays 25f) Three Card Brag. Won completed start in Irish points in May but this no easy introduction to hurdling. Lucky to win his third point and was bought for £9,000 afterwards. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Point-to-point winner Minella Sixo impressed when scoring comfortably on his Rules debut over 2m at Fairyhouse earlier this month and, with improvement likely, it will be no surprise if he is able to make his presence felt in this grade. That said, preference is still for POTTERS CHARM, who was on target in a Ffos Las bumper in the spring before confirming that promise when bolting up over 2m4f at Worcester on his debut over timber recently. With his yard in fine form, he looks the one to side with. Cloonainra is also noteworthy.
POTTERS CHARM represents a yard in superb form and he's looked a fine prospect both starts under Rules, running out a stylish winner of a bumper in the spring before outclassing 9 rivals at Worcester a month ago. Sure to leave that bare form behind, he'll take some stopping, for all Minella Sixo is promising in his own right. Of the rest, six-figure point recruit First Confession merits consideration.
This doesn't look that strong a novice by Cheltenham standards and opportunity knocks for POTTERS CHARM (nap) to go 3-3 under rules.

Fiercely Proud |
(2) (5/2 +0%)5/2(+0%) | (2) Fiercely Proud 5/2, Dual bumper scorer who also won his first 2 starts over hurdles before Christmas. Placed twice at Graded level before running creditably on his handicap debut at Sandown when last seen. Yard going okay and interesting on return with 10-lb conditional in the saddle. Second in Grade 2 novice in February and ran well on handicap debut in April; shortlisted. |

1st (10) (6/1 +0%) Impero |
6/1(+0%) | (10) Impero 6/1, Fairly useful/untrustworthy maiden on Flat (stays 17f) and similar form over hurdles, making the most of a good opportunity in 7-runner maiden (5/6) at Downpatrick (17.3f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Likely to continue in form. Made all Downpatrick maiden this month; tougher task here but evidently in good nick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (3/1 +70%) Norman Fletcher |
3/1(+70%) | (8) Norman Fletcher 3/1, Showed fairly useful form when landing a maiden/novice last winter. Failed to fire both starts in handicaps but one of those was the Betfair Hurdle and he reappears with his yard amongst the winners. Needs considering. Safely held in first two handicaps but still has scope for progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 -29%) Aucunrisque |
9/1(-29%) | (1) Aucunrisque 9/1, Betfair Hurdle winner in 2023. Largely disappointing last season but proved he retains plenty of his old ability when third to Enthused at Plumpton on his reappearance last month and meets that rival on more favourable terms here. Sound effort when third on seasonal debut at Plumpton but needs to build on that run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (3/1 +67%) Jilaijone |
3/1(+67%) | (9) Jilaijone 3/1, Juvenile hurdle winner who ran well to be placed on his first 4 starts last season. Stopped quickly at Sandown and came up short in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury but got back on track to some extent at Fakenham on final outing and must enter calculations from 3 lb lower on return. Lost way a bit in second half of last season but returns from break on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/1 -43%) Inca De Lafayette |
10/1(-43%) | (5) Inca De Lafayette 10/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler last season, successful twice at up to 19f (including on return) and ended the campaign with a good second at Taunton (16.5f) in February. Respected on seasonal bow. 2-4 last season, after a wind operation, and open to further improvement this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (14/1 +58%) Fils De Roi |
14/1(+58%) | (11) Fils De Roi 14/1, Dual hurdles winner who found only a progressive sort too good in a handicap chase at Sedgefield when last seen 11 months ago. Returns to hurdling on a workable mark and it's unlikely he'll be lacking for fitness. Absent since coming second on chasing debut last November; might need this run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (7/1 +30%) Here Comes Georgie |
7/1(+30%) | (12) Here Comes Georgie 7/1, Right back on track in recent months having landed back-to-back 2m Perth handicaps. Much respected in hat-trick bid. 2-2 at Perth since switched back to hurdling in August and further progress is possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (33/1 -175%) Enthused |
33/1(-175%) | (3) Enthused 33/1, Most likeable sort who resumed progress to record a sixth win in this sphere in 8-runner handicap at Plumpton (2m) last month, leading final 100 yds. Not helped by a couple of uncharacteristic errors at Fontwell since but is probably too high in the weights now in anyway. Career-best form when winning last month but may find others better handicapped here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (16/1 -14%) Castel Gandolfo |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Castel Gandolfo 16/1, Enhanced superb record at Market Rasen when landing the valuable Summer Hurdle in July. Not seen to best effect when sixth at Perth next time and should bounce back from a rare below-par effort at aforementioned track last month. Won Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen in July and this C&D also suits; considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (20/1 +29%) Jetronic |
20/1(+29%) | (4) Jetronic 20/1, Chase winner in France who opened his hurdling account on third start for Paul Nicholls in a slowly-run Plumpton novice (20.5f, soft) in March. However, disappointed with his response to pressure at Ayr the following month and has since switched yards. Plumpton novice winner for Paul Nicholls in March; left that stable after a lesser effort. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
FIERCELY PROUD enjoyed a productive campaign last season, scoring twice and running with plenty of credit in Grade 2 company a couple of times before finishing an admirable seventh in a hot handicap at Sandown. In these slightly calmer waters off 1lb lower, he could prove hard to peg back having run well fresh before. Inca De Lafayette lost little in defeat when attempting to complete a Taunton double and merits respect off 1lb higher on his reappearance. Useful dual-purpose performer Impero also catches the eye.
An ultra-competitive finale. FIRECELY PROUD did well as a novice hurdler last season and ran creditably in a big-field handicap at Sandown on his final outing, especially considering he was left with a bit too much to do, so he's an appealing candidate on this return to action with his rider able to claim 10 lb against his rivals. Jilaijone has been shown some leniency by the assessor and can go on well on his reappearance, with hat-trick seeker Here Comes Georgie also of firm interest.
Preference is for FIERCELY PROUD, who looks well handicapped if judged on the form of his Grade 2 novice second in February.
Ths is the racecard key.
