17:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TWILIGHT GUEST can take a hold but Mikkel Mortensen has ridden him before, which will be a useful asset given the likelihood of a searching gallop. George Margarson's four-year-old was on the back of a 140-day break when finishing a close second over C&D last week and that should have set him up nicely to go one place better here. Calcutta Dream and Kingwell are the pick of the rest.

CALCUTTA DREAM won a minor event over C&D in January and shaped best when collared late on at Wolverhampton last time, so in spite of a disadvantageous draw in stall 10, gets the nod to make amends for last month's unfortunate defeat. Elterwater has shaped encouragingly under aggressive rides on her last 2 outings and the suspicion remains there's a bigger effort in her.

This mark could be within range for ELTERWATER now dropped in trip round a course that should suit. Calcutta Dream is next best.

18:00 Chelmsford Maiden (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Even though he cost 1.8 million guineas, VENETIAN STYLE was the lesser fancied of two stablemates on his Kempton debut and he ran green to finish fifth. However, the winner of that race - a 2000 Guineas entrant - emphatically boosted the form next time out, which bodes well for the selection now he has some experience, has been gelded, and goes with cheekpieces added. Sea Ice and Endosser jointly set the standard and appeal most from the rest.

ENDOSSER is the most experienced runner in the line-up here and, with stamina doubts about the main threat on form Sea Ice, gets the nod. It's perhaps concerning Venetian Style was gelded so quickly after his debut having cost nearly 2 million gns as a foal but he should know more this time and is the pick for third.

Endosser is looking exposed now and the concession of the 5lb sex allowance to SEA ICE may prove beyond him.

18:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TEN O'CLOCK has been close up on both of her last two starts and with Saffie Osborne presumably choosing her over stablemate Tenet, there are solid reasons to expect a bold showing. So Obsessed rates the chief danger, given she was too keen over 6f on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton, and certainly looks worth a try over the minimum trip. Ludberg is also considered with a first-time visor added.

About as weak a contest as you could find, but at least TEN O'CLOCK arrives with a pair of creditable recent efforts and she's hard to oppose on that form. So Obsessed was down the field on her handicap debut but there was a modicum of promise on qualifying run so she rates as the main danger, whilst the remaining quartet have no worthwhile form to their name; handicap-newcomer Tenet is perhaps most open to improvement.

Ten O'Clock is taken on with SO OBSESSED, who ran better than her final position latest and should be suited by the drop from 6f.

19:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BENEFICIARY successfully justified favouritism by a length over C&D last month, and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent him recording a double. Boom The Groom is only 3lb higher than his last winning mark and he has Luke Morris back on board, so more can be expected compared to his fifth at Lingfield last time. Of the remainder, New Hope Bullet makes the most appeal in first-time blinkers.

NEW HOPE BULLET can have a line put through her below-par effort at Wolverhampton 12 days ago (harried in front) so, in another change of headgear, Alice Haynes' 4-y-o gets the nod at the expense of Beneficiary, who notched his first success in handicap company over C&D 2 weeks ago and should be bang there from a 4 lb higher mark. The Defiant and Alafdhal can fight out third spot.

A C&D winner off 7lb higher last summer, THE DEFIANT looks ready to take advantage of a handy mark. Beneficiary is next best.

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

AWESOME SPIRIT took a step back in the right direction when filling the runner-up berth over 7f here in January and he has since undergone wind surgery. Mick Appleby's four-year-old remains on the same mark and looks well placed to shed his maiden tag. Come On Girl, who was only beaten a neck into second over track and trip last month, has to be respected, while Mine That Ship is another to consider on her first start for the Michael Wigham yard.

AWESOME SPIRIT put in his most encouraging effort for current connections when finishing runner-up over 7f here a couple of months ago and now back sprinting, Mick Appleby's 4-y-o is fancied to open his account on the back of a breathing operation. Stablemate Come On Girl is holding her form really well, so she's put forward as the main threat, ahead of Sumac and Vitalline.

Michael Appleby holds a strong hand courtesy of Come On Girl and AWESOME SPIRIT (nap), the latter getting the nod down in trip.

20:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SMART DEAL bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort here, and the step up from 7f can help him go one better. Alice Haynes' charge is preferred to the reliable Cue's Beau and Got No Dollars, who has been in excellent form of late and has run well here before. A winner over C&D on her penultimate outing, Wadacre Grace is expected to be thereabouts as well.

BRUNEL CHARM bounced back to form with the blinkers left off when finishing runner-up at Kempton last month, so Lee Carter's relatively new recruit gets the nod to go one better and snap a losing streak closing in on a couple of years. Smart Deal ran a cracker when edged out over 1m here recently, so he heads up the opposition, with Got No Dollars and Cue's Bow also fancied to go well.

Got No Dollars is taken on with CUE'S BEAU, who is lightly raced and up to winning off this mark if seeing out the easy 1m.

20:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ISLAND NATIVE did it well when making all at Lingfield, and a 6lb rise looks manageable as he aims to notch up a third career success. That may be at the main expense of Once Adaay, who disappointed at Newcastle but has won his only two previous starts here. Conquest Of Power (second) has two lengths to make up on the selection from their Lingfield encounter but will appreciate a return to this track, having scored over C&D in January.

ISLAND NATIVE looks the most solid option on the back of a pretty decisive success at Lingfield where he proved 2 lengths too strong for Conquest of Power. A 6 lb rise for that looks manageable and he may well benefit from a soft lead. Conquest of Power can be expected to give another good account but Golden Passport, who has edged down to an attractive mark, is feared most.

The Lingfield handicap in which ISLAND NATIVE beat Conquest Of Power looks the key formline, with the former fancied to follow up.
