12/1(+25%) | (11) Miss Willows 12/1, Went close on C&D reappearance in May but down the field on both outings since. Well beaten the last twice and now 0-12 but went close over C&D (soft) in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (22/1 -57%) Crocodile Power |
22/1(-57%) | (8) Crocodile Power 22/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap (4/1) at Newcastle (7f) when last seen in April. Off 93 days. Below par in April last time but fair fourth prior to that and he might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8/1 -7%) Obee Jo |
8/1(-7%) | (3) Obee Jo 8/1, Three-time C&D winner. Latest win at Leicester in May. Below par over this C&D since but he's capable of bouncing back. Disappointing over C&D last time but four wins here and scored at Leicester two runs ago. |

10/1(+50%) | (6) First Dynasty 10/1, Last of 12 in handicap (14/1) at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Down to a mark in the 50s for the first time but need to see more. Continues to drop down the weights but for good reason. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 -50%) Shark Two One |
9/2(-50%) | (5) Shark Two One 9/2, C&D winner. 3/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Leicester (6f, good) 25 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Shortlist material. C&D winner who arrives in good form; chance, especially if the ground is slower than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (7/1 +0%) Mutanaaseq |
7/1(+0%) | (2) Mutanaaseq 7/1, Four-time C&D winner. Ninth of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm, 25/1) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Starting to look well handicapped. Four C&D wins last year and now below last winning mark, but a return to form is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 -20%) Swinging Eddie |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Swinging Eddie 12/1, C&D winner. Likely needed the outing after 5 months off when eighth of 14 in handicap at Redcar (7f, good to firm, 40/1) 19 days ago. Capable off this mark if back to his best. On a competitive mark; needs to improve plenty for last month's return to action at Redcar. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -180%) Fortuitous Star |
28/1(-180%) | (9) Fortuitous Star 28/1, Placed twice in handicaps for Grant Tuer last summer. Left that yard after a poor run at Southwell in February. Hooded first time for new yard. Betting perhaps the best guide to expectations. On a handy mark if the first-time hood and change of stables prompts a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (5/2 +0%) Langholm |
5/2(+0%) | (1) Langholm 5/2, C&D winner. Several good efforts here this year before resuming winning ways at Thirsk (7f) a weeks ago. The outside could make life a little awkward for this front-runner but still much respected. Snapped long losing run at Thirsk last week; consistent and has solid claims under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (12/1 -20%) Rain Cap |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Rain Cap 12/1, Four-time course winner. Runner-up over C&D in June but not in the same form in his 2 outings since. Needs a return to this venue to spark a revival. His last three wins have come here; could play a leading role now back at Catterick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (50/1 -100%) Mintnthat |
50/1(-100%) | (10) Mintnthat 50/1, Won twice on AW for Iain Jardine at the start of this year but has found life harder for current yard. Won two in a row at Newcastle (1m, AW) in January but has struggled since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (28/1 -12%) Secret Daay |
28/1(-12%) | (12) Secret Daay 28/1, Remains a maiden after 23 starts. Thirteenth of 18 in classified event at Thirsk (6f, good to firm, 16/1) 16 days ago. It's likely the wait for a first win will go on. Soundly beaten back on turf the last twice and he remains a maiden after 23 starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
After being narrowly denied over 7f at Thirsk when sporting first-time cheekpieces (retained) on his penultimate start, LANGHOLM quickly made amends to score readily over the same C&D earlier this month. At a venue where he has performed well in the past, he gets the vote to successfully shoulder a 4lb penalty. Shark Two One shaped with more promise than the result suggests when finishing fourth over 6f at Leicester last month and must be respected, while Obee Jo is the pick of the remainder.
SHARK TWO ONE was successful over C&D last autumn and has been running well enough in recent weeks to think his turn may be near again. C&D specialist Langholm won comfortably at Thirsk last week and will be a big threat if an outside stall doesn't prove too much of an inconvenience. Mutanaaseq and Obee Jo are others who know where the winning post is over this C&D.
Preference is for LANGHOLM, who snapped a long losing sequence with an authoritative win at Thirsk last week.

Tippy Top |
(7) (25/1 -25%)25/1(-25%) | (7) Tippy Top 25/1, Twice-raced filly. 14/1, third of 7 in maiden at Hamilton (5f, good) 13 days ago. That form is only modest so improvement will be needed. Has displayed ability on both starts but improvement is needed to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (10) (5/2 +17%) J Street |
5/2(+17%) | (10) J Street 5/2, Thrice-raced filly. Improved when close second in a seller at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) 27 days ago and the form has been boosted by the first and third winning since. Likely to be bang there. Has shown promise on two of her three starts and is a leading contender today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (13/2 +59%) Lunar Force |
13/2(+59%) | (11) Lunar Force 13/2, 50/1, promise amidst greenness when fourth of 8 in maiden at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) on debut 14 days ago, with the reopposing Kitten In The Sky narrowly ahead in third. Likely to improve. Fair 4th on recent debut at Carlisle and trainer's 2yos tend to need their debut outings. |

4th (6) (50/1 -25%) Summer Of Light |
50/1(-25%) | (6) Summer Of Light 50/1, Foaled March 22. €13,000 breeze-up purchase by Earthlight. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m Kinross out of useful winner up to 10.3f (2-y-o 8.3f winner) Ceilidh House. The betting should guide to expectations. Trainer is much better known for exploits with older horses but check the betting on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4/1 -20%) Kitten In The Sky |
4/1(-20%) | (4) Kitten In The Sky 4/1, Promising individual. Third of 8 in maiden (4/1) at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) 14 days ago, showing good speed again. This return to a sharper 5f will suit. On the shortlist. Runner-up over C&D on debut, then fair third at Carlisle; in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (6/1 +14%) Endeavouryourdream |
6/1(+14%) | (9) Endeavouryourdream 6/1, 7/2, fourth of 9 in maiden at Carlisle (6f, soft, 7/2) on debut 23 days ago. Open to progress. Fair 4th on debut at Carlisle; could be sharper for that and is in good hands to progress. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (25/1 -25%) Elisabet |
25/1(-25%) | (2) Elisabet 25/1, Modest form when sixth of 8 in maiden at Chantilly (5.5f, good, 34/10) on debut 24 days ago. More needed. Soundly beaten sixth of eight on debut in France; needs a sizeable step forward today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
J STREET pulled readily clear of the third when finishing second to a useful prospect over 5f at Musselburgh last month, and this looks a good opportunity for her to atone for that near-miss. Desdemona retains plenty of potential after two placed efforts from as many starts and, fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time, it would be no surprise if she were to emerge as the main danger. Elisabet should be able to step up on her debut effort.
Quite an interesting race. KITTEN IN THE SKY has been a bit too exuberant for her own good so far but looks to possess lots of speed and this return to a sharp 5f will play to her strengths. Desdemona is another who looks very fast and is second choice ahead of J Street, whose Musselburgh selling second came in a strong race of its type.
With the form of her clear second in a Musselburgh seller looking strong, J STREET is taken to go one better. Lunar Force is feared

13/2(+28%) | (7) Wondrous Ways 13/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, seventh of 14 in seller at York (6f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Makes handicap debut but others are better treated at these weights. Improvement needed off her opening mark but it's a lowly one and she's not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 +50%) Stat Goddess |
9/2(+50%) | (4) Stat Goddess 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, below-form fourth of 5 in seller at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) 27 days ago. Makes handicap debut with more required. Ran well in C&D maiden in May but unable to threaten the next twice (claimer/seller). |

3rd (1) (28/1 -1300%) Unthinkable |
28/1(-1300%) | (1) Unthinkable 28/1, Winner at Beverley in May. 6/1, respectable fourth of 10 in minor event at Ripon (6f, good) 20 days ago. Much respected now going into handicaps. One win (Beverley claimer) from her six starts; needs something extra on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (50/1 -900%) Deal Maker |
50/1(-900%) | (2) Deal Maker 50/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Southwell in March. Last of 8 in minor event (20/1) at this C&D (good to soft) 22 days ago. More needed on her handicap debut. Made encouraging start to career; well beaten in C&D novice latest but not written off. |

5th (5) (80/1 -1500%) Super Dino |
80/1(-1500%) | (5) Super Dino 80/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, seventh of 12 in maiden at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm, 16/1) 23 days ago. Blinkers back on and tongue strap added for his handicap debut with plenty to find. Below par last time but fast ground maybe didn't suit; case can be made on earlier form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (100/1 -3900%) Unmistakeable |
100/1(-3900%) | (6) Unmistakeable 100/1, Thrice-raced maiden, best effort when fifth of 10 in maiden at Thirsk (5f, good to firm, 40/1) 53 days ago. Needs another step forward on her handicap bow. Has improved with each of her three runs and latest Thirsk fifth came in a warmish race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UNMISTAKEABLE shaped with plenty of promise when finishing fifth in a warm Thirsk maiden in May and, off what looks a workable mark on her nursery debut, she gets a tentative vote to open her account. Unthinkable showed enough in her time with George Boughey to suggest that she can play a hand in a race of this nature and she warrants respect on her handicap debut for the in-form Philip Kirby team. Deal Maker completes the shortlist.
Handicap-newcomer UNTHINKABLE could emerge as the chief player, with Unmistakeable appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
The useful Breakable was a two-time Catterick winner for Tim Easterby and her third foal UNMISTAKEABLE earns the vote on nursery debut.

50/1(-1150%) | (9) Fond Farewell 50/1, Good fourth of 17 in handicap at Navan (14f) 10 months ago on his final run for John Murphy. Has won when fresh so rates a big player off a handy mark on his first go at 2m for his new yard. Limerick winner (1m3f) for John Joseph Murphy; prudent to consult the market after layoff.. |

40/1(-60%) | (3) Gift Of Raaj 40/1, Course winner. 18/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f). Off 6 months. Not easy to make a case for. 1lb higher than when scoring on Tapeta at Newcastle (2m; 28-1) last November; poor since.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Lord Torranaga has won twice before at this venue and commands respect despite having yet to win beyond 1m6f on the Flat. The Navigator holds a similar profile and is noted stepping back up in trip after a close second over 1m5f at Hamilton last month. However, RORY THE CAT is best when on the front end and could be hard to reel in if allowed to dominate on just his third start after wind surgery.
FOND FAREWELL looks to start life for his new yard on a good mark so is taken to begin in style on his first go over 2m. Course-scorer The Navigator is feared most ahead of Sam Sarphati and Rory The Cat who should both benefit from stepping back up in trip.
There is much to like about The Navigator (second choice) but, with rain forecast, the vote goes to Lucinda Russell's RORY THE CAT.

7/2(+30%) | (1) Zainabb 7/2, 11/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 42 days ago. Should get back on track and she's still not fully exposed. Southwell form of two runs back has worked out well; this is easier; may not want rain. |

2nd (3) (10/3 -11%) Puella Law |
10/3(-11%) | (3) Puella Law 10/3, 1 win from 3 runs this year. Winner at Beverley in May. Fifth of 7 in handicap (5/2) at Beverley (8.4f, good to soft) 22 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Still one to have in mind. Holding form at Beverley this year win or lose; will mind the rain less than some here. |

3rd (2) (12/1 -433%) Heartwarmer |
12/1(-433%) | (2) Heartwarmer 12/1, Lightly-raced winner. Seventh of 10 in handicap at Newbury (8f, good to firm, 5/2) 27 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Looked promising prior to latest effort and she's worth a chance to get back on the up. Has sufficient quality to get back on track following a relative flop latest; hood goes on. |

7th (5) (66/1 -164%) Hiya Honey |
66/1(-164%) | (5) Hiya Honey 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 10 in handicap (33/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Others are more persuasive. Well treated on her sole piece of creditable form (7f, soft; RPR 79); all rain welcome. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Without Flaw has performed well in defeat lately and, from the foot of the handicap, she's respected given her recent form has a solid look. Zainabb has faced stiffer tests and also rates a key player dropped in class. Nevertheless, Beverley maiden winner PUELLA LAW is open to further progression and could be worth siding with on these terms with the drop back in trip likely to suit.
HEARTWARMER was shaping up well prior to her latest effort at Newbury and, up against more exposed types, she's fancied to prove herself better than a mark of 75. Without Flaw should give her running again and Puella Law is another one likely to put a poor effort behind her.
Significant rain would not inconvenience Heartwarmer or especially PUELLA LAW (nap), and they're favoured in reverse order.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PROFITEER has thrived since being gelded/contesting handicaps and, having won doggedly at Thirsk last month, there could be a lot more to come from the Tim Easterby-trained son of Profitable now he has proven himself to be effective over this trip. From the bottom of the handicap, Calafrio rates the chief danger returning to this distance after two near misses in 6f sprints, while Sir Garfield and Arlington, who sports first-time cheekpieces, are others to consider.
PROFITEER upped his game and showed a good attitude to score at Thirsk last time so, for all that he's faced with softer conditions, he's capable of going in again at the possible expense of Calafrio, who ran well in the first division of that race. The Bobster is one to keep an eye on in the betting switched to handicaps for the first time.
The form book suggests that the pair to concentrate on are Profiteer and CALAFRIO. Phil Kirby's filly receives a narrow vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
