7/1(+22%) | (5) Dance Angel 7/1, Thrice-raced filly. 14/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 10 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Second on AW last month but less good on turf since; others make more appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 -50%) Ludden Lass |
3/1(-50%) | (3) Ludden Lass 3/1, Sent off a big price but showed more when sixth of 11 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good) 23 days ago. Didn't finish her race off on that occasion but this is easier. Promise in two of her three runs; well drawn for one that made the running latest; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1.2/1 +52%) Azahara Palace |
1.2/1(+52%) | (1) Azahara Palace 1.2/1, Promising type. Eighth of 13 in maiden at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm, 50/1) on debut 19 days ago. Open to progress given her pedigree and interesting in a race like this. Only 8th at Windsor on debut but it was a much better race than this; lots more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (18/1 -50%) Elizabeth's Joy |
18/1(-50%) | (2) Elizabeth's Joy 18/1, Twice-raced filly. 10/1, third of 8 in maiden at Redcar (6f, good) 12 days ago. Has hinted at ability in two runs this spring but others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

25/1(-79%) | (4) Boniato 25/1, 11,000 gns yearling, Camacho filly. Half-sister to winner up to 8.6f Sweet Bertie. Dam, winner up to 7f (2-y-o 6f winner), half-sister to smart 6f winner Aeolus. 11,000gns half-sister to a fair winner out of a useful mare; appealing paper claims. |

6th (8) (4.5/1 +0%) Scramble |
4.5/1(+0%) | (8) Scramble 4.5/1, Modest filly. Remains a maiden after 8 Flat runs. 11/2, bit below form fourth of 11 in minor event at Kempton (7f) 17 days ago. Makes turf debut. Blinkers on and she's starting to look exposed. Still a player at this level. Placed a few times on AW but not progressing & opposable on turf debut; blinkered 1st time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

20/1(-11%) | (7) Expert Lady 20/1, £10,000 yearling, Expert Eye filly. Half-sister to useful winner up to 7f Raydiance and 7.4f winner Luckyboylovelywife. Dam 8.6f-1¼m winner. Starts out in an ordinary race. £10,000 half-sister to two winners (one at Listed level); perhaps a longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (80/1 -220%) Dusty Rug |
80/1(-220%) | (6) Dusty Rug 80/1, Too green to show much when sixth of 8 in maiden at Redcar (6f, good) on debut 12 days ago, slowly away. Green and never landed a telling blow on recent Redcar debut; one for the longer term. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Ludden Lass sets the standard with an official rating of 72 and she showed a bit more on her first start after wind surgery at Newmarket 23 days ago. The Dandy Man filly could take another step forward on this occasion, but a chance is taken on DANCE ANGEL. David O'Meara's charge ran well in defeat on her first two career starts (both on the all-weather), and can be forgiven a below-par Beverley performance. Scramble completes the shortlist.
AZAHARA PALACE displayed enough at Windsor 3 weeks ago to think she can win a small maiden against her own sex and this looks to be a nice opportunity for her with progress assured. Ludden lass and particularly Scramble are more exposed but need considering.
Ludden Lass can go well in these calmer waters but AZAHARA PALACE can leave her encouraging debut run well behind her.

6.5/1(-136%) | (1) Fred Bear 6.5/1, Resumed progress on just second start for the yard when winning 10-runner handicap at Salisbury (14.2f, good to soft, 9/1) 37 days ago, suited by way race developed. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 -9%) Victoriano |
3/1(-9%) | (3) Victoriano 3/1, Confirmed promise of last run to get off the mark for the season in 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f) 16 days ago. Should remain competitive from a 3 lb higher mark back on turf. Built on earlier promise to land 2m Wolverhampton handicap 16 days ago; well in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -33%) Oh So Chic |
12/1(-33%) | (6) Oh So Chic 12/1, Just one win from 21 Flat runs and was again below form when sixth of 8 in handicap at Ripon (16f, heavy, 25/1) 29 days ago. Modest 1m6f winner for Ed Bethell; yet to fire in two runs for her new yard this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 -14%) Top Attraction |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Top Attraction 16/1, Temperamental sort. One win from 26 Flat runs. Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap (12/1) at Carlisle (11.2f, good) 19 days ago, not much room. Significantly up in trip. Unreliable sort who has made the frame only once in five outings this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (125/1 -150%) Danking |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Danking 125/1, Poor over hurdles, down the field in handicap at Hexham (16.2f, good, 100/1) 18 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Poor on the Flat, went with little promise on last run in this sphere. Others make more appeal. Poor maiden handicapper who beat only one over hurdles at Hexham last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 +64%) Glan Y Gors |
12/1(+64%) | (5) Glan Y Gors 12/1, Seventh of 11 in handicap (80/1) at this course (12.1f, good) on return 26 days ago. Back up markedly in trip and should strip fitter for that outing. Not disgraced after seven months off when seventh here last month; no forlorn hope. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FRED BEAR powered clear of his rivals at Salisbury last time out and he appeals as the one to beat once more from a 4lb raised mark. Recent Wolverhampton scorer Victoriano merits respect back on the turf, while Hellenista, who is 3lb lower than when successful at Redcar last June, should also mount a stern challenge. Lord Torranaga is also noted.
HELLENISTA is on a good mark and suggested she's ready to strike again soon when runner-up at Carlisle last week, so she receives the vote. Fred Bear and Victoriano are a pair of credible rivals, though.
Tim Easterby's mare HELLENISTA scored twice last June and signalled she's ready to go in again when a good second at Carlisle last week

25/1(+0%) | (7) Temper Trap 25/1, 66/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Difficult ask. Comes here out of sorts, only tenth at Beverley handicap ten days ago; others appeal more. |

7/1(-40%) | (4) Fiftyshadesofred 7/1, 17/2 and hooded for 1st time, third of 10 in handicap at Ayr (7.2f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. Back on track in first-time hood with Ayr 3rd latest; very much one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (16/1 +36%) Stripzee |
16/1(+36%) | (10) Stripzee 16/1, 18/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, good to firm) 7 days ago. Off nine months before creditable Musselburgh 3rd; worth considering off a 2lb lower mark. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (4/1 +0%) Langholm |
4/1(+0%) | (5) Langholm 4/1, C&D winner. 10/3, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at this course (6f, good) 26 days ago. Made all in this 12 months ago and he arrives in very good nick; player from inside berth. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In a competitive heat, it might be worth taking a chance on LANGHOLM. Michael Dods' charge landed this prize from a 2lb lower mark 12 months ago and he's drawn well in a bid to repeat the dose. Surprise Picture was able to exploit a drop in the handicap when winning at Wolverhampton last month, but he remains well treated back on the grass and must enter calculations, along with Mutanaaseq. Others to note include Clotherholme and Stripzee.
FIFTYSHADESOFRED was picked off only late on in a well-run race at Ayr last time and looks ready to strike. Last-time-out winners Surprise Picture and Mutanaaseq head the dangers.
Michael Dods's likeable LANGHOLM goes really well round here and from his inside draw can repeat his all-the-way win of 12 months ago.

3rd (3) (2.75/1 +0%) Dark Crusade |
2.75/1(+0%) | (3) Dark Crusade 2.75/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable fourth of 8 in nursery at this C&D (good to soft, 10/3). Off 8 months but reappears with yard amongst the winners. Ran well over C&D on fast ground last summer; unexposed but 255-day absence to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8.5/1 -42%) Dunnington Lad |
8.5/1(-42%) | (1) Dunnington Lad 8.5/1, C&D winner who wasn't disgraced when fifth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago, racing a little more centrally than ideal. Not dismissed down in grade. Three wins for David Evans last year; struggled at big prices for new yard; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3.33/1 +5%) Jack Of Clubs |
3.33/1(+5%) | (4) Jack Of Clubs 3.33/1, Stepped up on an encouraging reappearance when fourth of 8 at Thirsk in May. Not in same form at Ripon subsequently and now fitted with first-time cheekpieces. Has shown winning potential over 6f; drops in trip with headgear tried; contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Paul Midgley has done well with his sprinters lately and has another leading candidate in the shape of DARK CRUSADE, who showed some promise in four starts last season and resumes racing off a workable mark. He seems versatile regarding ground preference and, having already garnered C&D experiences, this son of Camacho has a lot going for him at this level. Jack Of Clubs is feared most in first-time cheekpieces, with Let's Go Hugo completing the shortlist.
LET'S GO HUGO returned to form back on turf when runner-up at Redcar 19 days ago and is the percentage call to go one better from the same mark. Dark Crusade makes his seasonal return with his yard amongst the winners and is feared most.
Recent form is sparse but LET'S GO HUGO is a C&D winner who ran well last time so he looks the safest option.

2nd (1) (0.91/1 +39%) Live In The Moment |
0.91/1(+39%) | (1) Live In The Moment 0.91/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2020. Stall opened late when seventeenth of 20 in handicap (6/1) at Epsom (5f, good to firm) 7 days ago, merely closing up late. Cheekpieces back on. Has good chance on form back down in class. On a good mark and last week's run in the Dash debacle easy to forgive; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (8/1 -33%) Nelson Gay |
8/1(-33%) | (7) Nelson Gay 8/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. Eighth of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (5f, good, 11/2) 19 days ago. Yet to build on a promising stable debut; dangerous mark though and type to revive soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 +13%) Strong Johnson |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Strong Johnson 14/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. 22/1, last of 16 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to soft) 52 days ago. Tough to assess at present. Thrown in on Irish form; not beaten a rival in two runs for this yard; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (22/1 -120%) Muscika |
22/1(-120%) | (6) Muscika 22/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in March. 13/2, fourth of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) 22 days ago. Three AW wins over the winter but likely vulnerable back at 5f from the widest stall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/1 +0%) Mid Winster |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Mid Winster 5/1, C&D winner. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good, 13/2) 21 days ago. Can bounce back. Won this last year off 2lb higher; not hit top gear this year but had wind op since latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 +0%) Leodis Dream |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Leodis Dream 12/1, C&D winner. 20/1, respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good) 21 days ago. Ended losing run at Ripon last September; latest Thirsk run encouraging; others stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (20/1 +0%) Ernest Rutherford |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Ernest Rutherford 20/1, 25/1, bit below form eighth of 16 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 21 days ago. 5f winner in Ireland at 2; not hit top gear for his new yard and eligible for weaker races. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT had no chance to show his capabilities in the Epsom Dash last week due to his stall not opening at the correct time, so that run can easily be forgiven. The six-year-old likes to race up with the pace, and has all the right attributes to give a good account on a circuit that tends to favour front-runners. Muscika also likes to be on the speed early and is feared most, while Ready Freddie Go is another to consider.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT was backed into favouritism for the "Dash" at Epsom last week but he didn't get the chance to justify the support as his stall was one of several that opened late, so he's well worth another chance back down in class. Mid Winster was a bit disappointing at Thirsk 3 weeks ago but she recorded an excellent timefigure when scoring over C&D a year ago so could well bounce back returned to this venue.
The Dash last week was a write-off but LIVE IN THE MOMENT (nap) remains of major interest and he can gain some compensation.

The Sir Mark Prescott stable has hit a rich vein of form of late and ROBUSTO can continue the trend by following up on a taking first win at Salisbury last time out. He remains unexposed at the trip and he should have too much for the likes of A Day To Dream and Cloud Angel (third), who has less than a length to make up with the selection from their latest clash.
ROBUSTO was strong in the betting upped markedly in trip and unsurprisingly left his previous efforts well behind to get off the mark on handicap debut at Salisbury on return 2 weeks ago. Open to further improvement, he can defy a 5 lb rise at the main expense of Cloud Angel, who was ¾-length third to the selection that day and is now 5 lb better off. A Day To Dream is best of the others.
With the 5lb rise for his handicap debut win looking fair, ROBUSTO can follow up, chased by the back down in class Peaceful Night.

1st (7) (6.5/1 +19%) Quercus |
6.5/1(+19%) | (7) Quercus 6.5/1, C&D winner who has dropped below last winning mark and stepped up on reappearance run when fourth of 11 in 6f handicap at Ripon (good to firm) 9 days ago. One to bear in mind. Conditions to suit and signs of a revival at Ripon last time; not discounted. |

2nd (5) (25/1 -56%) Woodlands Charm |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Woodlands Charm 25/1, C&D winner who is yet to fire this season, only 6½ lengths eighth of 10 to Lezardrieux in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 16 days ago. Conditions to suit and she's on a good mark; type to bounce back sooner rather than later. |

3rd (2) (3.6/1 +35%) Blackjack |
3.6/1(+35%) | (2) Blackjack 3.6/1, Latest win at Southwell in March. Good second of 7 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 17/2) 30 days ago, just failing. That performance is backed up by the timefigure and he's respected back on turf. On the up on AW this year; effective on good ground but untried on quicker. |

4th (3) (7.5/1 -114%) Lezardrieux |
7.5/1(-114%) | (3) Lezardrieux 7.5/1, Off the mark for the season in 10-runner handicap (7/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 16 days ago, leading home turn and keeping on well. 2 lb rise shouldn't prevent another good run if turning up in similar form. Narrow winner over C&D 16 days ago; 2lb rise not excessive; in the mix from good draw. |

5th (1) (2.12/1 +15%) Prospect |
2.12/1(+15%) | (1) Prospect 2.12/1, Notched a fourth success in 7-runner handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 5/2) 8 days ago, driven out. Should remain competitive. Comes here in good form, winning readily over C&D latest; 3lb rise not excessive; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -60%) Jupiter Express |
16/1(-60%) | (4) Jupiter Express 16/1, Dual winner on the all-weather who looked a tricky ride again when fourth of 7 in handicap (8/1) at Leicester (6f, good) 4 days ago, hanging right 2f out. Blinkers back on and temperament under suspicion. No luck in running behind Lezardrieux here last month; competitive granted a clear run. |

7th (6) (2.75/1 +39%) Astapor |
2.75/1(+39%) | (6) Astapor 2.75/1, Produced a career best to resume winning ways in 8-runner handicap (5/2) at this course (5f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Can give another good account. On the up and needs serious consideration despite wide draw and the rise in class. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A determined winner over C&D last time out, LEZARDRIEUX could have been let off lightly with a 2lb rise and he is taken to notch up an 11th career success. That may be at the main expense of fellow C&D scorer Prospect and Astapor, who has won two of his last three around here over 5f. Blackjack and Jupiter Express have the form to get involved as well.
A trappy contest with a tentative vote going to QUERCUS, who goes well at this track and looks ready to hit top form again judged on his latest fourth at Ripon. Last-time-out winner Lezardrieux and Blackjack head the opposition.
All seven have claims but ASTAPOR is making good progress now and can gain his third course win of the season.
Ths is the racecard key.
