1st (7) (15/2 -88%) Rapido Girl |
15/2(-88%) | (7) Rapido Girl 15/2, Improved again when second of 7 in maiden at this course (6f, soft, 5/2) 8 days ago, clear of rest. Should be in the mix. Better with each start, going close over 6f here last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/6 +34%) Asinara |
5/6(+34%) | (1) Asinara 5/6, 4/5, disappointed bearing in mind debut promise when third of 10 in maiden at Southwell (7.1f) 74 days ago, running green/carrying head bit awkwardly. Looks the one to beat switched to turf. Placed twice over 7f in March; sets the standard now switching to turf after a short break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (20/1 -264%) Moral Standards |
20/1(-264%) | (6) Moral Standards 20/1, Lightly-raced filly. Too free and was below the form of her previous 2 runs as a result when fourth of 6 in maiden at this course (6f, good, 11/2) 39 days ago. Placed over 6f/5f in April but not in quite same form when fourth over 6f here latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (28/1 -522%) Sense Of Spirit |
28/1(-522%) | (5) Sense Of Spirit 28/1, €35,000 yearling, Exceed And Excel filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 7.5f winner La Sapienza. Dam, French 11.5f winner, half-sister to smart 1¼m winner (stayed 1½m) Bright Melody out of smart 2-y-o 7f/1m winner Lyric of Light. From good yard and starts out in ordinary race so a market move could prove significant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (66/1 -1100%) Highfield Heiress |
66/1(-1100%) | (2) Highfield Heiress 66/1, Offered something to work on amidst inexperience when third of 7 in minor event (4/1) at Redcar (6f, soft) on debut 37 days ago. Should progress. Promise amidst inexperience when third on 6f Redcar debut; more to come up at 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (80/1 -142%) Qatar Wave |
80/1(-142%) | (3) Qatar Wave 80/1, 6/1, held back by inexperience when eleventh of 12 in maiden at Chelmsford City (7f) on debut 44 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. 6-1 for Chelmsford debut in April but finished well held; cheekpieces are added now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (250/1 -279%) Queensbury Lodge |
250/1(-279%) | (4) Queensbury Lodge 250/1, Offered little on first outing since leaving Michael Bell after 5 months off when last of 7 in maiden at this course (6f, soft, 50/1) 8 days ago. 14l fifth on AW debut and always behind (upset in stalls) over 6f here last week. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ASINARA was unable to build on the promise of her debut second at Kempton in March when third at Southwell later in the month. Given some time to recover, Charlie Hills' filly is likely to have benefited plenty from that outing and makes plenty of appeal on her turf debut. Highfield Heiress shaped as though an extra furlong would suit on her debut at Redcar, while newcomer Sense Of Spirit is capable of making an impact.
Not a strong maiden by any means so ASINARA gets the nod to build on her debut promise at the second attempt provided she takes to turf. Rapido Girl has improved in each of her 3 runs, so she can give the selection most to think about, with Highfield Heiress rounding off the shortlist on the back of an encouraging debut effort.
Another chance is given to ASINARA now switching to turf after 11 weeks off.

Bits And Bobs |
(8) (8/1 +20%)8/1(+20%) | (8) Bits And Bobs 8/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2023. First run since leaving Jamie Osborne when eighth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at Redcar (7f, soft) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others make more appeal. Low-key stable debut but faster ground & the return of headgear could give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (13/2 +0%) Patontheback |
13/2(+0%) | (3) Patontheback 13/2, Much better than bare result when twelfth of 14 in handicap (11/2) at this C&D (good) 26 days ago and below last winning mark again now. Interesting. Always in rear over C&D latest but only 5-1 on that occasion; chance if breaking on terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (18/1 -50%) Rain Cap |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Rain Cap 18/1, Four-time course winner. First home in group when third of 7 in handicap at this course (5f, soft, 14/1) 16 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. C&D winner off 5lb lower last season; running himself back into form; return to 7f a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (17/2 +15%) Rockin Rosa |
17/2(+15%) | (10) Rockin Rosa 17/2, Third of 7 in handicap at this C&D (soft, 11/2) 16 days ago. Regular slow starts mean she'll likely need a couple of these to falter. On a good mark and placed in 3 of her 4 runs this year; often slowly away so carries risk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (4/1 +0%) Shark Two One |
4/1(+0%) | (4) Shark Two One 4/1, C&D winner. Shaped well when third of 9 in handicap (5/2) at Leicester (7f, soft) 11 days ago, doing too much too soon. Cheekpieces back on. Looks competitive on form. C&D winner last season; comes here in form but slower ground would be preferable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (9/1 +25%) Variety Island |
9/1(+25%) | (11) Variety Island 9/1, C&D winner in April. 14/1, below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Ripon (6f, soft) 9 days ago. Others more persuasive. C&D winner in April but less good twice since; drawn wide this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/2 +21%) One More Dream |
11/2(+21%) | (1) One More Dream 11/2, Course winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year. Latest win at Southwell in March. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good, 8/1) 22 days ago. Bounce back required. Better on AW but handicapped accordingly & he is a course winner; feared back in Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (22/1 -10%) Arranmore |
22/1(-10%) | (2) Arranmore 22/1, Twenty five runs since last win in 2021. Eighth of 12 in handicap (50/1) at Newcastle (7.1f). Off 99 days. Difficult to recommend on recent efforts. On a good mark but form dipped on AW this winter after a good 2nd at Newcastle in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (16/1 +20%) Temper Trap |
16/1(+20%) | (5) Temper Trap 16/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 25/1, last of 9 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, soft) 10 days ago. Has fallen to a workable mark but others make more appeal. Promise over C&D last month but he ran poorly ten days ago; others more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (10/1 -43%) Cuban Fiesta |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Cuban Fiesta 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Good third at Southwell in March but only eleventh of 13 in handicap at Yarmouth (8f, good to firm) 56 days ago. Hood/cheekpieces on 1st time. Still could be worth another chance to build on comeback promise. Unepxosed 3yo who looks well worth a crack at this trip; headgear may help; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (13/2 -136%) Desert Dream |
13/2(-136%) | (9) Desert Dream 13/2, C&D winner. Improved on recent efforts to win 15-runner handicap at Redcar (7f, soft, 10/1) 12 days ago. Player from 6 lb higher mark. Easy win at Redcar 12 days ago but 6lb rise, wide draw & faster ground could find him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (100/1 -150%) Bloomin Robbery |
100/1(-150%) | (12) Bloomin Robbery 100/1, 100/1, ninth of 13 in handicap at Ayr (7.2f, good) 25 days ago. Hooded for 1st time, cheekpieces on for 1st time. Set for another struggle. Little solid form; well drawn and new headgear can help but others make much more appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Desert Dream returned to form with the tongue-tie reapplied at Redcar on his most recent start. However, a 6lb rise and the prospect of faster ground are enough to look elsewhere for win purposes. With that in mind, a chance is given to CUBAN FIESTA. Third on his handicap debut at Southwell, the son of Havana Grey was too keen for his own good when down the field at Yarmouth and the drop to 7f, along with the combination of a hood and cheekpieces for the first time, may see him in a better light. Others for the shortlist include Shark Two One and Rockin Rosa.
SHARK TWO ONE did really well to hold onto third under an aggressive ride at Leicester last time and Jessica Macey's gelding gets the verdict over Patontheback, who has slipped a long way in the weights and looked on good terms with himself despite finishing down the field over C&D last time. Recent Ripon winner Desert Dream completes the shortlist.
The 3yo Cuban Fiesta looks worth a crack at 7f but ONE MORE DREAM may be able to exploit his lowly turf mark dropped to a Class 6.

1st (5) (13/2 -8%) Without Delay |
13/2(-8%) | (5) Without Delay 13/2, 1 win from 3 runs this year. 9/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Musselburgh (8f, good) 36 days ago, all out. Respected. Back to winning ways at Musselburgh 5 weeks ago (1m, good); effective over C&D; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (13/2 -95%) Sunny Orange |
13/2(-95%) | (6) Sunny Orange 13/2, Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fifth of 15 in handicap (7/2) at Redcar (7f, soft) 12 days ago, nearest finish after meeting trouble. Has good chance on pick of form. Had excuses at Redcar last time and he's handicapped to win; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (28/1 +15%) Pearl Sands |
28/1(+15%) | (12) Pearl Sands 28/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Carlisle (9f, good to soft) 9 days ago, slowly away. Back down in trip. Plenty to find on form. Refusing to settle has held him back over further; faces different test over this sharp 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (33/1 -560%) Homer Stokes |
33/1(-560%) | (3) Homer Stokes 33/1, Improved on recent efforts to win 7-runner handicap at this C&D (soft, 10/3) 16 days ago by neck from Miss Willows, driven out. Can make presence felt. Beat Miss Willows over C&D 16 days ago (soft; pair clear); handles good to firm; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (50/1 -456%) Mr Trevor |
50/1(-456%) | (10) Mr Trevor 50/1, Visored for 1st time, good second of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good, 9/1) 22 days ago. Place claims again if able to back that up. Back to form in a visor last time, 2nd of 11 at Hamilton; well drawn; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (100/1 -203%) Gunnerside |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Gunnerside 100/1, 28/1, shaped as if better for run when eighth of 10 in handicap at Ripon (6f, soft) 9 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Others preferred. Ended 2023 quietly and low-key return 9 days ago; down to tempting mark but risky for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -100%) Asmund |
28/1(-100%) | (9) Asmund 28/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/1, tenth of 14 in handicap at this C&D (good) 26 days ago. More required. Conditions won't be a problem and he's on a good mark; should make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (80/1 -1233%) Obee Jo |
80/1(-1233%) | (2) Obee Jo 80/1, Three-time C&D winner. 1 win from 3 runs this year. 12/1, won 9-runner handicap at Leicester (7f, soft) 11 days ago. High draw isn't ideal but respected nonetheless. Conditions should be fine and he won well on heavy 11 days ago; tricky draw though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (50/1 -213%) Juryman |
50/1(-213%) | (4) Juryman 50/1, Unreliable type. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Redcar (8f, soft, 11/1) 11 days ago. Something to find on form. On a good mark and should be at peak fitness with two runs behind him; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (12/1 -60%) Mutanaaseq |
12/1(-60%) | (1) Mutanaaseq 12/1, FOur-time C&D winner and in frame twice here this year. Run best excused when eeventh of 14 in handicap at this C&D (good, 13/2) 26 days ago, snatched up inside final 1f. Now below last winning mark. Conditions to suit and he's in better form than his last result would suggest; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (40/1 -400%) Miss Willows |
40/1(-400%) | (11) Miss Willows 40/1, Very good neck second of 7 to Homer Stokes in handicap at this C&D (soft, 9/2) 16 days ago, clear of rest. Not taken lightly. 0-10 but ran well when 2nd to Homer Stokes over C&D last month (soft); fast ground a query. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A neck separated Homer Stokes and Miss Willows when they met over C&D last month and a 1lb swing at the weights may benefit the latter in her attempt to reverse the placings. Liberty Breeze is capable of being in the mix if ready to go on her first outing since December, but the vote goes to WITHOUT DELAY. A winner of her latest start at Musselburgh, she is taken to strike again off a 3lb higher mark.
SUNNY ORANGE produced an eye-catching effort at Redcar last month and can build on that effort to score for the first time since debut. Homer Stokes had slipped a long way in the weights when edging out Miss Willows over C&D last time and that pair complete the shortlist.
Neither Mutaaaseq nor SUNNY ORANGE saw any daylight at a crucial stage on their latest start. The latter just edges preference.

14/1(+0%) | (4) Whogoesthere 14/1, Creditable third on 5f AW reappearance but not at the same level on turf twice since. Not at best the last twice but Southwell 3rd in April brings him right into the picture. |

7/1(+0%) | (3) Northerner 7/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 6/1, second of 5 in maiden at Musselburgh (5f, good) on reappearance 36 days ago. Brings unexposed potential to this handicap debut. Displayed fair ability in three maiden/novice runs; likely improver now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (17/2 -42%) Northern Prince |
17/2(-42%) | (11) Northern Prince 17/2, Poor form. Off 12 months, shaped as if better for run when fifth of 10 in C&D handicap (good) 26 days ago. Ran well in a stronger race on his reappearance (raced wide); still has time to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (25/1 -25%) Emerald Army |
25/1(-25%) | (9) Emerald Army 25/1, Poor form. Seventh of 10 in C&D handicap (good, 28/1) 26 days ago. Finished behind a few of these when seventh over C&D last month. |

13th (14) (40/1 -471%) Missterious |
40/1(-471%) | (14) Missterious 40/1, Well held in 3 runs last summer but in good hands and has a basement mark to work with now handicapping on her return. One to note in the betting. Bred to be better than she showed in her three runs last summer; check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (8) (14/1 +30%) Crooked Crown |
14/1(+30%) | (8) Crooked Crown 14/1, 12/1, first run since leaving Rod Millman when last of 10 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good) on reappearance 33 days ago. Can only be watched after that. May have needed her stable/seasonal debut last month but she was well beaten all the same. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Given NORTHERNER was second to a horse now rated 80 at Musselburgh last month, the daughter of Profitable debuts in handicap from a highly-competitive mark of 64 based on a literal reading of the figures. A low draw could also be very beneficial for the selection, who can steal a march on the likes of Secret Command and Crack The Kode, both of whom are respected but will need to be sharply away to combat wide draws.
SECRET COMMAND made a good return to the track when second over C&D last month and might prove the answer to an open-looking sprint handicap. Crack The Kode was better than the result (met trouble) at Redcar last time and has dipped back to the mark he defied over C&D last autumn so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him play a prominent role. Alfa Moonstone is also shortlisted along with Brian Ellison handicap newcomer Northerner.
Northern Prince is open to lots of improvement but CRACK THE KODE, a dual course winner at two, looked on the way back last time.

13/2(-8%) | (3) Gibside 13/2, Shaped encouragingly after 7 months off when eighth of 20 in handicap at York (11.8f, good, 33/1) 24 days ago. Has stepped forward markedly from his reappearance the last 2 seasons, so every chance he will be bang there back in a lower grade. 2lb below last winning mark, but not sure fast ground is ideal; still has stamina to prove. |

2nd (4) (9/2 -13%) Knights Affair |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Knights Affair 9/2, Ran up to best when second of 8 in handicap at Doncaster (11.9f, good, 9/1) 8 days ago. Still low mileage in handicaps and remains of interest from this sort of mark. Beaten a neck at Doncaster last time and shapes as though he will stay; still unexposed. |

3rd (6) (15/2 +25%) Gastronomy |
15/2(+25%) | (6) Gastronomy 15/2, Winner at Newcastle in April. Found run of good form coming to a halt back on turf when fourteenth of 20 in handicap at York (11.8f, good, 25/1) 24 days ago. Others more persuasive. 1-6 on the AW but 0-10 on turf and was beaten a long way at York last month. |

4th (10) (100/1 -2903%) Lord Torranaga |
100/1(-2903%) | (10) Lord Torranaga 100/1, 15/8, made the most of a good opportunity to end a long losing run in 5-runner handicap at this C&D (soft) 8 days ago. Nudged up just 2 lb and may well feature if this doesn't come too soon. Dual C&D winner including eight days ago; only 2lb higher. |

5th (11) (80/1 -400%) Calevade |
80/1(-400%) | (11) Calevade 80/1, Course winner. 17/2, turned in another woeful effort when last of 6 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) 3 months ago. This a rare Flat start and others make more appeal. Course winner in the summer of 2020, but last two efforts over hurdles have been poor. |

6th (2) (66/1 -1220%) Pons Aelius |
66/1(-1220%) | (2) Pons Aelius 66/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 9/2, ran much better than for a while returned to turf from an easing mark when third of 8 in handicap at this course (15.9f, good) 26 days ago. Chance if building on that. Ram much better when third here last time and is 11lb below his last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (66/1 -164%) Achnamara |
66/1(-164%) | (1) Achnamara 66/1, 28/1, made no impression when sixth of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (14.5f, good to firm) 7 days ago, very slowly away. Continues to fall in the weights without showing any sign of taking advantage. Has run a couple of encouraging races since last summer, but they haven't been built on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (100/1 -900%) Weigh Anchor |
100/1(-900%) | (7) Weigh Anchor 100/1, 5/1, proved a let-down making her handicap debut after 5 months off when last of 6 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (16f, good to soft) 3 months ago. Makes handicap debut on Flat and this presumably a pipe opener with a view to going back hurdling. 0-8 under rules; makes her Flat handicap debut on her second start since wind surgery. |

9th (5) (100/1 -1150%) Clear White Light |
100/1(-1150%) | (5) Clear White Light 100/1, Course winner in April. Ran creditably when sixth of 10 in handicap (9/1) at Chester (15.9f, soft) 2 weeks ago. Back down in trip and not discounted. Won on heavy ground here in April but unraced on ground faster than good under either code. |

10th (8) (100/1 -525%) Victoriano |
100/1(-525%) | (8) Victoriano 100/1, Probably needed the run after 7 months off when seventh of 8 in handicap (40/1) at Thirsk (14f, soft) 5 weeks ago. Others look stronger. Would have needed his Thirsk return and good or faster ground suits him perfectly; player. |

11th (9) (100/1 -900%) Myboymax |
100/1(-900%) | (9) Myboymax 100/1, Course winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, stepped up on his reappearance when fourth of 8 in handicap at this course (15.9f, good) 26 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Each-way claims. Last month's fourth here was a step back in the right direction; each-way claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LORD TORRANAGA justified good support in the betting when scoring in fine style over this course and distance eight days ago and rates the strongest contender off just 2lb higher. Weigh Anchor is also notable back on the Flat on just her second start after undergoing wind surgery, while Victoriano should have benefitted from last month's return to action at Thirsk and may offer some each-way value from 5lb below his last winning turf mark.
GIBSIDE shaped encouragingly after 7 months off when eighth at York last month and having stepped forward markedly from his reappearance the last couple of seasons, Tim Easterby's 5-y-o is fancied to notch career victory number 5 at the expense of Knights Affair, who is still low mileage in handicaps and ran up to his best when runner-up at Doncaster last week. Pons Aelius and recent C&D winner Lord Torranaga can fight out third spot.
This can go to PONS AELIUS who suggested he was returning to form when third here last time. He is 11lb below his last winning mark.

13/2(+28%) | (7) Le Beau Garcon 13/2, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Fair sixth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 16/5). Off 7 months but can give a good account. No win since 2yo days but regularly threatened last year; had wind op since last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/3 +49%) Vadamiah |
10/3(+49%) | (6) Vadamiah 10/3, 3-time C&D winner. Creditable third of 12 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm, 14/1) 29 days ago. Ought to be thereabouts. Three C&D wins in 2022; good third at Ripon on her return last month; well draw; contender. |

5th (5) (11/1 -120%) Khabib |
11/1(-120%) | (5) Khabib 11/1, Creditable second of 11 in handicap (10/1) at Thirsk (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Can make presence felt. Good 2nd at Thirsk last month but not sure to confirm placings with Tatterstall. |

6th (1) (33/1 -230%) Ready Freddie Go |
33/1(-230%) | (1) Ready Freddie Go 33/1, C&D winner. 16/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) 20 days ago so needs to bounce back. Won this race off 1lb higher last year; should be at concert pitch now; not ideally drawn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (100/1 -525%) Castan |
100/1(-525%) | (4) Castan 100/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Newcastle in March. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good to firm, 28/1) 21 days ago so needs to get back on track. C&D winner; 2lb higher than for March's AW success; drawn wide and rain would help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 -344%) Jojo Rabbit |
40/1(-344%) | (8) Jojo Rabbit 40/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in April. 15/2, creditable 1½ lengths third of 6 to Albegone in handicap at this C&D (soft) 8 days ago. In the mix. AW win in April; third to Albegone over C&D 8 days ago; more required in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (40/1 -344%) Ecclesiastical |
40/1(-344%) | (9) Ecclesiastical 40/1, Off 6 months before creditable fifth of 6 to Albegone in handicap (17/2) at this C&D (soft) 8 days ago. One to consider with that run under his belt. Should be sharper with a recent run behind him but looks a bit too high in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (100/1 -525%) Another Baar |
100/1(-525%) | (3) Another Baar 100/1, 17/2, last of 13 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time now. Progressed last season; can leave low-key return behind but still risky in new headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TATTERSTALL possibly needed his first couple of starts this season and, given he won the 3YO 'Dash' at Epsom off 1lb higher last summer, this could be a good time to catch the Michael Dodds-trained gelding. Vadamiah was beaten by less than a length when third at Ripon 29 days ago and she can give the selection plenty to think about with that seasonal debut under her belt. Albegone and Ecclesiastical are old rivals who can also make their presence felt.
TATTERSTALL figures on an attractive mark and signalled he's ready to strike when a good third at Thirsk last time out so gets the vote in this competitive sprint. Ecclesiastical is next on the list after resuming from six months off with an encouraging C&D fifth, while Albegone, Khabib, Vadamiah and Jojo Rabbit can all make their presence felt.
Khabib was in front of TATTERSTALL at Thirsk last month but the placings may be reversed at this track.

6/4(+67%) | (3) Starshine Legend 6/4, Thrice-raced maiden. 66/1, seventh of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 81 days ago. Very much the type to progress now upped in trip for handicap debut with cheekpieces applied. Bred to be better than he has shown and longer trip should suit on pedigree; interesting. |

2nd (5) (18/1 -50%) Made In China |
18/1(-50%) | (5) Made In China 18/1, Last of 7 in handicap (16/1) at Redcar (14f, soft) 11 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Hard to make a solid case for at present. Has shown little in three starts since returning from a gelding operation; blinkers on. |

3rd (1) (15/2 -114%) Livinthelife |
15/2(-114%) | (1) Livinthelife 15/2, Winner at Wolverhampton in January. 18/1, creditable second of 5 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. AW winner who who finished second of five at Yarmouth 12 days ago; high on list. |

4th (6) (25/1 -108%) Letmeseethecolts |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Letmeseethecolts 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 9 in handicap (14/1) at Beverley (9.9f, good to soft) 44 days ago. Up in trip. Needs to take a step forward. Out of the frame in all five starts; unlikely winner. |

5th (2) (100/1 -6035%) Thrilling Dream |
100/1(-6035%) | (2) Thrilling Dream 100/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Bath in May. Creditable second of 10 in handicap (11/4) at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 14 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Open to further improvement and looks the one to beat. Done well since handicapping, winning at Bath and finishing second at Windsor; key player. |

6th (4) (66/1 -1220%) Solar Bentley |
66/1(-1220%) | (4) Solar Bentley 66/1, 10/3, sixth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (12.1f, good to firm) 25 days ago. Previous effort was promising and he's not one to write off. Twice runner-up before a lesser run on fast ground at Beverley; conditions may be similar. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (66/1 -371%) Lunar Rocks |
66/1(-371%) | (7) Lunar Rocks 66/1, 10/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 22 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Others are more appealing. Made the frame in her first four handicaps earlier in year, but gone quiet the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Connections will be disappointed if a race of this nature wasn't within the reach of STARSHINE LEGEND at some point. The son of Sea The Stars hasn't cut much ice in his three qualifying runs, but a bold bid is expected now sporting first-time cheekpieces on his first start since being gelded. Livinthelife was unsuited by the way the race developed when finishing second at Yarmouth last week and he is respected off 1lb lower, while Thrilling Dream found only one rival too good over an extended 1m3f at Windsor last month and he must enter calculations despite being upped 4lb.
Following a winning handicap debut, THRILLING DREAM shaped well off a steady pace when runner-up at Windsor a fortnight ago, so he's fancied to get his head back in front for all that Starshine Legend looks a formidable opponent upped in trip off a feasible opening mark. Livingthelife should also give a good account.
Preference is for THRILLING DREAM (nap) who has improved since handicapping, winning at Bath and finishing second at Windsor.

1st (6) (14/1 -133%) Resilience |
14/1(-133%) | (6) Resilience 14/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Very good second of 9 in handicap (7/2) at Wolverhampton (5.1f), slowly away. Off 145 days. Expected to be bang there if tuned up. Running well on AW over the winter; feasibly treated if ready to roll after 145 days off. |

2nd (3) (7/1 +0%) King Of Tonga |
7/1(+0%) | (3) King Of Tonga 7/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in May. Below form fourth of 11 in handicap (8/1) at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 7 days ago. Not one to write off returning to a track that suits. C&D win two weeks ago (soft) franked by the second; less good last week; can bounce back. |

3rd (1) (13/8 +28%) Ghathanfar |
13/8(+28%) | (1) Ghathanfar 13/8, Twenty runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 12 in handicap (7/2) at this C&D (good) 26 days ago. Capable of going one better. Two good runs in defeat this spring; leading claims at this level with conditions no issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (12/1 -50%) Let's Go Hugo |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Let's Go Hugo 12/1, Course winner. Latest win at Newcastle in April. 11/1, bit below form fourth of 11 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Not completely dismissed. Course winner; goes well for today's rider; fair mark but still to prove he wants this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 -300%) Langholm |
16/1(-300%) | (7) Langholm 16/1, Course winner. Blinkered for 1st time, good second of 9 in handicap at this C&D (soft, 4/1) 8 days ago. Has been running well all season and another bold showing is on the cards. Placed in all five course runs this year; 3lb higher than for latest second & drawn widest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -71%) Music Society |
12/1(-71%) | (2) Music Society 12/1, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable 2 lengths third of 6 to King of Tonga in handicap at this C&D (soft, 10/1) 16 days ago. Becoming feasibly treated. Two C&D wins in 2022; down in weights and latest third was promising; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (100/1 -733%) So Grateful |
100/1(-733%) | (5) So Grateful 100/1, Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (5f, good to firm, 10/1) 19 days ago. Well treated on last season's best; two runs this year should have him spot on; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (100/1 -733%) Lezardrieux |
100/1(-733%) | (8) Lezardrieux 100/1, 3-time C&D winner. Below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 11/1). Off 156 days. Has work to do. Three C&D wins to his name; on a good mark but quiet when last seen five months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (80/1 -400%) Tantalus |
80/1(-400%) | (9) Tantalus 80/1, Fifth of 8 in handicap (25/1) at this course (5f, good) 39 days ago. Others make more appeal. 14-race maiden; effective over C&D but needs to leave this year's two efforts behind him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LANGHOLM has hit the woodwork on his last couple of starts, most recently being collared close home when attempting to make all over C&D last week, but with a 7lb claimer booked to negate a 3lb rise, he gets the vote to make every yard a winning one this time around. King Of Tonga had a subsequent winner back in second when scoring over C&D on his penultimate start and he commands respect off 3lb higher. Ghathanfar is down to an attractive mark and he completes the shortlist.
GATHANFAR ran a cracker to finish second over C&D last time and is worth a chance to go one better at the possible expense of course-regular Langholm, who reacted well to blinkers last time. Resilience is another player despite a four-month absence.
A repeat of GHATHANFAR's latest C&D second might suffice and he can end his losing run at the main expense of Music Society.
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
