Zoom Star |
(8) (9/2 +18%)9/2(+18%) | (8) Zoom Star 9/2, Dual C&D winner who went close on a couple of occasions last term. Shaped as if needing first start for 5 months when sixth of 9 in handicap (9/2) at this C&D (heavy) 21 days ago and she could just be worth siding with to build on that from a handy mark. Three-time C&D winner; handles soft, on a good mark and sharper for recent return; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (10/3 +26%) Object |
10/3(+26%) | (4) Object 10/3, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. 11/2, bit below form fifth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) when last seen in November. Returns operating from career-low mark at least and likely has a race in him at this sort of level this term. Conditions to suit and on a good mark; absent since November but can't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (14/1 +44%) Captain Corcoran |
14/1(+44%) | (11) Captain Corcoran 14/1, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, last of 9 in handicap at this C&D (heavy) 21 days ago, weakening from 2f out. Needs to leave that well behind to figure. C&D winner; yet to shine this year and comes here with enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 +13%) John Kirkup |
7/2(+13%) | (5) John Kirkup 7/2, Latest win at Redcar (5f, heavy) in October and shaped as if needing the run when sixth of 10 in handicap here (6f, heavy) 21 days ago, every chance over 1f out and weakening final 1f. Entitled to be sharper now. Conditions to suit and he should be sharper for his recent return to action; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (16/1 +36%) Lancashire Life |
16/1(+36%) | (10) Lancashire Life 16/1, One win from 33 Flat runs. 10/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) in September. Others make greater appeal on return. Infrequent winner who looks best watched after 236 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/1 +44%) Murbih |
9/1(+44%) | (6) Murbih 9/1, Twenty one runs since last win in 2023. Blinkered for 1st time, last of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 66/1) 41 days ago. Needs to hit the ground running returned to turf. Should be well treated but yet to fire this year and 0-14 on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/2 +68%) Dr Rio |
9/2(+68%) | (7) Dr Rio 9/2, Both career victories gained over further for Paul Midgley. Seemingly just ticking over in trio of AW starts since the turn of the year for his new yard and mark has eased but not sure to be suited by the drop back to the minimum trip. Yet to fire for current stable and suitability of a sharp 5f looks open to question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (16/1 -129%) Grandad Bob |
16/1(-129%) | (2) Grandad Bob 16/1, Runner-up on C&D handicap debut/reappearance 12 months ago but disappointed final 2 starts thereafter last summer. Off 9 months/switched yards ahead of this so the market could prove a useful guide. Ran well over C&D on handicap debut one year ago; less good twice since; new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (10/1 -25%) Astapor |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Astapor 10/1, C&D winner who tasted success 4 times in total last year, posting a career-best display at Pontefract (5f) in July. Disappointed on 3 of his 4 starts thereafter on turf/AW and possible he'll sharpen up for this run on the back of 169 days off. Four wins last year, twice over C&D; feasible mark but he's returning from an absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TOMMYTWOHOOTS went close to gaining his first career success on turf when beaten a short head over C&D at the start of the month, having won the race on his side of the track, and it would be no surprise were he to go one better. Object has some decent form with cut in the ground and is a threat along with Grandad Bob, who has gone well fresh in the past.
A dual C&D winner, ZOOM STAR shaped as if needing the run after 5 months off when sixth in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago and, having slipped a little more in the weights, she could well be ready to take a step forward with that under her belt. Tommytwohoots went agonisingly close over C&D latest and he's feared with a repeat, with Object and John Kirkup others to consider.
John Kirkup should go well with a run behind him but this could be the day TOMMYTWOHOOTS secures his first 5f success.

1st (1) (4/1 +20%) Restless Prince |
4/1(+20%) | (1) Restless Prince 4/1, Still green but showed more than on debut when fifth of 11 in maiden at Southwell (6.1f, 16/1) 12 days ago. Needs another run for a handicap mark. Better run at Southwell 12 days ago (6f); shorter trip/switch to turf needs to spark extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 -45%) Obligatory |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Obligatory 4/1, After 8 months off (gelded), much improved when third of 9 in minor event at Pontefract (6f, heavy, 80/1) 22 days ago, 1¾ lengths behind Moral Standards in second. Could go well again with his recent run behind him. Big step forward on his reappearance, 3rd of 9 at Pontefract (6f, heavy); key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 -48%) Moral Standards |
10/3(-48%) | (4) Moral Standards 10/3, Making her second start of the year, left her previous form well behind when second of 9 in minor event at Pontefract (6f, heavy, 150/1) 22 days ago. Leading contender. Big step forward at Pontefract 3 weeks ago (Obligatory back in third); more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/8 +19%) Northerner |
13/8(+19%) | (5) Northerner 13/8, With hood applied on debut, showed plenty amidst inexperience when second of 9 in maiden (20/1) at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) last June. Off 10 months but she's open to improvement (headgear discarded). Shaped well on sole 2yo start (5.5f, good to firm; hooded, left off today); check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (20/1 -25%) Tough At The Top |
20/1(-25%) | (2) Tough At The Top 20/1, 32,000 gns yearling, U S Navy Flag gelding. Closely related to useful 6f winner Isaan Queen and half-brother to 1m winner Done Deal. Dam unraced half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Luck Money. May just be better for this experience. 32,000gns yearling; closely related to a 6f Listed winner; one of two runners for the yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (28/1 +44%) Thea Bell |
28/1(+44%) | (6) Thea Bell 28/1, Made an unpromising start to her career when last of 7 in minor event (66/1) at Newcastle (6f) 37 days ago. Looks to be up against it. 66-1, green and last of seven on last month's Newcastle debut (6f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NORTHERNER made a promising start to her career when runner-up at Wetherby in June last year and the daughter of Profitable, who raced on much faster ground on that occasion, is unlikely to be inconvenienced by conditions. Moral Standards (second) and Obligatory (third) both outran their odds in a Pontefract novice earlier in the month and the pair are expected to be in the mix too.
With her reappearance run behind her, MORAL STANDARDS proved a different proposition when second at Pontefract 22 days ago and she can build on that to go one better. The main danger could be Northerner, who made an encouraging debut at Wetherby last summer (the winner scored again next time), with Obligatory the pick of the remainder.
Moral Standards finished in front of OBLIGATORY last time but the placings may be reversed over this shorter trip.

1st (3) (8/13 +55%) Vince L'amour |
8/13(+55%) | (3) Vince L'amour 8/13, Lightly-raced winner. 6/1, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Ripon (6f, heavy) 6 days ago. Carries penalty. Can follow up if the race doesn't come too soon. Confirmed promise of his C&D return when routing rivals at Ripon last week; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (20/1 -82%) Scoops Ahoy |
20/1(-82%) | (4) Scoops Ahoy 20/1, Respectable fourth of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Southwell (5f) 13 days ago. Remains on a mark that demands improvement. Two wins as a 2yo; fair return to action 13 days ago but more will be needed to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (15/2 -25%) Moyola |
15/2(-25%) | (6) Moyola 15/2, 6/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Newcastle (5f) 71 days ago, sticking to task. Solid claims if he can prove himself as good on turf as AW. Best efforts on AW and this C&D looked on the sharp side last October; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 +40%) Willolarupi |
6/1(+40%) | (5) Willolarupi 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, eighth of 11 in nursery at Pontefract (6f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Uphill task. Conditions to suit & still has time to do better but returns from a break with yard quiet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8/1 +0%) La Boo |
8/1(+0%) | (2) La Boo 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1, fourth of 7 in maiden at Southwell (5f) 60 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Worth monitoring in the betting. Promise on fast turf and AW; goes handicapping at a realistic level; ground a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (80/1 -100%) Please Please Me |
80/1(-100%) | (9) Please Please Me 80/1, Landed a weak 5f novice at Southwell in February but well beaten both starts in handicaps at that venue since. Needs to bounce back tackling turf for the first time. Not beaten a rival in two handicaps since winning a weak Southwell novice; turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 +0%) Cast No Shadow |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Cast No Shadow 12/1, Winner at Newcastle in March. Last of 7 in handicap (16/1) at Windsor (5.1f, good) 9 days ago. Needs to prove himself on turf. AW novice winner last month; well held in a Windsor handicap nine days ago; ground a query. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
VINCE L'AMOUR benefited a lot from his return over C&D when running out a hugely impressive winner at Ripon last Thursday, and connections take the option of running under a 6lb penalty before the handicapper reassesses. La Boo has performed with promise on several occasions and may have more to offer on her handicap debut, while others for the shortlist include Moyola and Law Of Average.
VINCE L'AMOUR was most impressive at Ripon last week, tanking along in front before easily putting the race to bed, so he should be able to defy a penalty if the race doesn't come too soon. Law of Average is the main danger on the back of a good third at Lingfield and La Boo appeals as an interesting handicap debutant.
There's more to come from Law Of Average but VINCE L'AMOUR (nap) is well in under a penalty for last week's emphatic Ripon win.

1st (9) (10/3 +33%) Corsican Caper |
10/3(+33%) | (9) Corsican Caper 10/3, One win from 23 Flat runs, gained at Southwell in January. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap (8/1) at Doncaster (10.2f, heavy) 32 days ago. Back on correct mark. 1m4f classified win on AW in January but hasn't built on it in five runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 -33%) Vampire Slayer |
6/1(-33%) | (5) Vampire Slayer 6/1, Eighth of 12 in novice hurdle (100/1) at Carlisle (17f, soft) on NH debut 48 days ago. Significantly up in trip back on the level. 12-race maiden; best effort for this yard came over 6f on AW; stamina not assured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -33%) Stellarmasterpiece |
12/1(-33%) | (6) Stellarmasterpiece 12/1, Winner in Poland, third of 5 in minor event at Sluzewiec (9f, soft). Off 172 days. Significantly back up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Adam Wyrzyk and she's a tough one to assess. Ex-Polish filly; form not easy to assess but well worth a market check at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (10/3 -21%) Sugarpiehoneybunch |
10/3(-21%) | (10) Sugarpiehoneybunch 10/3, C&D winner. Heavily backed and no seen to best effect when fourth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (heavy) 21 days ago, left with lot to do. Expected to be bang there. Thrown in on last April's soft-ground form but little to enthuse over since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 +44%) Hiccups |
14/1(+44%) | (7) Hiccups 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 12 in handicap (66/1) at Lingfield (13f, AW) 79 days ago. Not yet exposed but blinkers need to galvanise him. Hard to recommend on racecourse achievement but blinkers could spark something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (16/1 -14%) Natchez Trace |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Natchez Trace 16/1, Last of 7 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, heavy, 33/1) 15 days ago and he seems to be going the wring way temperamentally. Blinkers back on, which may help. Drops into a Class 6 but well beaten twice on turf this spring and faster ground ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (15/2 +53%) Kojin |
15/2(+53%) | (1) Kojin 15/2, Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Warwick (21f, heavy, 250/1) 45 days ago. Struggling in both codes at present. Not shone for new yard but this trip more suitable than the 7f he tackled on last Flat run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (17/2 -143%) The Dancing Poet |
17/2(-143%) | (4) The Dancing Poet 17/2, Four-time C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap at this course (13.9f, heavy, 9/2). Off 6 months but dangerous to discount him back here. Conditions to suit but back from a six-month absence and may come on for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (14/1 -40%) Sociologist |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Sociologist 14/1, Twenty three runs since last win in 2022. Last of 9 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f, 22/1) 50 days ago, folding. Inconsistent and hasn't been at his best since returning in December; risky back on grass. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (16/1 +0%) Red Force One |
16/1(+0%) | (3) Red Force One 16/1, 125/1, last of 11 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f). Break needs to have revived him. Badly out of sorts on Flat last year; returns at a low level but faster ground preferable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Previous C&D winner SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH performed well when fourth back over this trip here three weeks ago and looks worth another chance with the likely deep ground in her favour. The Dancing Poet, already a three-time C&D winner, has form that ties in with the selection and cannot be ruled out, while Corsican Caper is also well treated and warrants a betting check.
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH has winning C&D form from a higher mark than this and heavily backed to score here 3 weeks ago, she was left with a lot to do as the race unfolded. Compensation may well be forthcoming in a race in which most have lots to prove. The Dancing Poet could be the chief threat on his return to action.
This looks a minefield and KOJIN, who steps back up to a more suitable trip, may be able to capitalise on today's drop in class.

1st (2) (11/4 +8%) Tyger Bay |
11/4(+8%) | (2) Tyger Bay 11/4, 9/2, another creditable effort when third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 20 days ago. Equally as effective on turf and can give another good account. Solid third in 6f Lingfield handicap 20 days ago; he ought to be thereabouts once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 +13%) Origintrail |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Origintrail 7/2, Runner-up twice at Ripon in Augus but ended 2023 with pair of below-par efforts. On a competitive mark if ready to roll after 6 months off. Goes well fresh and has slipped in the weights so a player for yard well among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/2 +38%) Happier |
15/2(+38%) | (5) Happier 15/2, Looked and shaped as if needing run when seventh of 13 in handicap (16/1) at Thirsk (6f, heavy) 15 days ago. Will need to sharper this time. Encouraging seventh on return at Thirsk 15 days ago; can take a step forward off 2lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/5 +4%) Little Muddy |
16/5(+4%) | (3) Little Muddy 16/5, Shaped as if reatining all ability when creditable third of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft) on return 31 days ago. Place claims again. Off six months before creditable Doncaster third last month; she's well in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/4 -38%) Alafdhal |
11/4(-38%) | (4) Alafdhal 11/4, Built on good second at Bath earlier in the month when winning at Pontefract on Monday. Leading claims. In-form 6yo who won at Pontefract on Monday and can go well again under a 5lb penalty. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Origintrail is a player in this company and warrants a betting check on her first run of the season, while Tyger Bay is back on turf off a competitive rating and rates a serious contender on these terms. However, LITTLE MUDDY, who runs off 3lb below her last winning mark, created a favourable impression when finishing third on her seasonal debut at Doncaster last month. She has likely benefitted from that run and this could be a good time to catch the eight-year-old.
ALAFDHAL was in good form on all-weather over the winter and has continued that fine run on turf, so provided this doesn't come too soon after Monday's Pontefract success, he can win again. Tyger Bay is a player on his first turf start of the year, with Little Muddy the pick of the remainder.
Ben Haslam has his string in great nick so it could be worth siding with his returning ORIGINTRAIL to capitalise on a handy-looking mark

1st (1) (10/3 +5%) Red Mirage |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Red Mirage 10/3, Fairly useful handicapper. Not so good in 2023 as in previous seasons. Drops in grade now after a breathing operation and has good record fresh (won on debut and on reappearance in 2021 and 2022). Winless since 2022; had wind op and he goes well fresh so not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 -82%) Wreck It Ryley |
10/1(-82%) | (6) Wreck It Ryley 10/1, 12/1, first run since leaving Grant Tuer when creditable third of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, heavy) 15 days ago, nearest finish. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Return to 7f should suit and he's respected. Good start for new yard with Thirsk 3rd 15 days ago; can go well again with cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 +22%) Beauty Choice |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Beauty Choice 7/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at this C&D (heavy, 5/1) 21 days ago, driven out. His fitness should count for plenty again. C&D scorer latest; up 3lb but he goes well on soft ground so must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 +42%) Buckshaw Village |
7/2(+42%) | (5) Buckshaw Village 7/2, One win from 23 Flat runs. Very good second of 14 in handicap (66/1) at Thirsk (7f, heavy) on return 15 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Merits consideration. Encouraging second at Thirsk latest, doing best of pace setters; not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (33/1 -200%) Obee Jo |
33/1(-200%) | (9) Obee Jo 33/1, 3-time C&D winner. 25 lengths ninth of 11 to Mr Strutter in handicap (8/1) at this C&D (heavy). Off 176 days. May need this. Goes well on soft ground and his last three victories have come over C&D; in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (28/1 -75%) Sunny Orange |
28/1(-75%) | (8) Sunny Orange 28/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 33/1). Off 7 months. Others preferred. Ended last term under a cloud; has gone well off a break though so no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (9/1 +44%) Mr Strutter |
9/1(+44%) | (10) Mr Strutter 9/1, 4-time C&D winner. Latest win here in October. 17¾ lengths seventh of 10 to Beauty Choice in handicap at this C&D (heavy, 17/2) 21 days ago, left poorly placed. Can do better. 4-time C&D winner; not discredited here on return so veteran is one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (28/1 -75%) Manigordo |
28/1(-75%) | (2) Manigordo 28/1, Shaped well on yard debut on final start in 2023 but down the field both starts this year. A fair 7f winner at his best but he has yet to fire in two Newcastle handicaps this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (16/1 -60%) Code Purple |
16/1(-60%) | (11) Code Purple 16/1, Wasn't firing at the end of 2023 and only eighth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) on return 30 days ago. Others more persuasive. Beat only one on his reappearance at Newcastle; no surprise if he bounced back though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (16/1 -14%) Without Delay |
16/1(-14%) | (12) Without Delay 16/1, One win from 25 Flat runs. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) on return 43 days ago. 2 lb out of handicap and others make more appeal for the win. Not disgraced after 5 months off when fifth at Newcastle last month; she can build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (7/1 -17%) Mutanaaseq |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Mutanaaseq 7/1, 4-time C&D winner. Four wins from 16 runs last year. 11/1, sound return when 2¼ lengths third of 10 to Beauty Choice in handicap at this C&D (heavy) 21 days ago, running on. Player. A four-time C&D scorer; good third here latest so he merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (40/1 -100%) Grey Force One |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Grey Force One 40/1, 22/1, posted comfortably his best effort of the year when fourth of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 37 days ago, running on. Needs to build on that back on turf (failed to beat a rival last 3 outing on grass). Best run for current yard when fourth at Newcastle last month; he needs to build on it. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BEAUTY CHOICE had the reopposing Mutanaaseq (third) just over two lengths behind when scoring over C&D last time out, and the seven-year-old can follow up despite being 4lb worse off at the weights with that rival. Winless since August 2022, Buckshaw Village bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort at Thirsk earlier in the month and is noted along with Wreck It Ryley.
RED MIRAGE generally struggled last season, but he goes well fresh and starts the new campaign off a potentially handy mark so could be worth chancing after a breathing operation. Beauty Choice and Mutanaaseq head the dangers.
Plenty are in with a shout but course specialist MUTANAASEQ teed himself up well for this when third here last time and he gets the nod

2nd (4) (10/1 -100%) Havana Prince |
10/1(-100%) | (4) Havana Prince 10/1, 4/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 39 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Has failed to fire in two runs this season so he needs to take a step forward. |

3rd (3) (7/1 -100%) Bestie |
7/1(-100%) | (3) Bestie 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 9/2) 37 days ago. Could be a threat back up to 7f having shaped pretty well over this trip on his penultimate start. Beat only one at Newcastle last time; weighted to go well if shrugging off latest effort. |

4th (1) (5/4 +75%) Jesmond Dawn |
5/4(+75%) | (1) Jesmond Dawn 5/4, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 13 in maiden (66/1) at Newcastle (8f) 16 days ago. Makes handicap debut and big step forward needed. Good Ripon third last May but has twice failed to build on it; may do better now h'capping. |

5th (7) (40/1 -60%) Curious Mrs Fox |
40/1(-60%) | (7) Curious Mrs Fox 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 22/1, seventh of 8 in nursery at Thirsk (6f, soft). Off 7 months and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Failed to make the frame in her four 2yo runs; others appeal more. |

6th (9) (14/1 -250%) Clionia |
14/1(-250%) | (9) Clionia 14/1, Good second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 28/1) 18 days ago, flattered by proximity to the winner. Vulnerable for win purposes. Best effort when runner-up at Chelmsford 18 days ago; in with a chance. |

7th (5) (7/2 +36%) Loubiere |
7/2(+36%) | (5) Loubiere 7/2, Eighth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 17/2) 16 days ago. Good second on her reappearance at the same course but will be going into the unknown conditions-wise if the ground is slower than good, which seems likely. Rare poor effort when eighth in Newcastle h'cap 16 days ago; the sort to bounce back. |

8th (8) (18/1 +28%) Queen Of Africa |
18/1(+28%) | (8) Queen Of Africa 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, fifteenth of 18 in nursery at Leicester (6f, good). Off 6 months and looks set for another struggle. Has offered little in four runs to date; off six months off with lots more required. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This can go the way of LOUBIERE, who may have disappointed last time out but is better judged on her penultimate effort when second over 1m at Newcastle. Rebecca Menzies' charge showed promise on the turf last season and this looks like a good opportunity to get off the mark, with recent Chelmsford runner-up Clionia the main danger. Havana Prince and the unexposed handicap debutant Jesmond Dawn cannot be ruled out either.
The return to this trip should suit BESTIE and he earns the vote ahead of Havana Prince and Fly Pass.
This looks a good opportunity for Amy Murphy's consistent filly FLY PASS to build on her Yarmouth fourth and gain a breakthrough victory
Ths is the racecard key.
