1st (6) (5/1 +17%) Retirement Beckons |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Retirement Beckons 5/1, Latest win at Ayr in August. 13/2, run best excused when fifth of 6 in handicap back at that venue (1m) 14 days ago (reportedly lame). Yard have been amongst the winners and no surprise to see a better showing. Dual 1m winner at Ayr this year but his record is very mixed; hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +33%) Shahnaz |
4/1(+33%) | (2) Shahnaz 4/1, Successful 3 times last term, latterly from an 11 lb higher mark over C&D 12 months ago. Exploits have been rather mixed this time around (shaped as if amiss latest) but she can't be ruled out if bouncing back down in class. Below form this season but won over C&D last year and has dropped to a tempting mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5.5/1 +0%) Bulls Aye |
5.5/1(+0%) | (1) Bulls Aye 5.5/1, Ended long losing run over 9f here in June and turned in best effort for some time in change of headgear when third at Musselburgh (9f) last month. Not seen to best effect back at that venue 3 weeks ago although he's not one to be making excuses for in general. Course winner in June and has quickly slipped back to a workable mark; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 -11%) Balqaa |
10/1(-11%) | (3) Balqaa 10/1, Dual winner on AW last year but struggling for form upon returning to action in recent weeks, ninth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 16 days ago. Others make greater appeal returned to turf. Back from break with three disappointing runs this summer; much more to prove than some. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (33/1 -10%) Miss Connaisseur |
33/1(-10%) | (9) Miss Connaisseur 33/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. Fourth of 12 in handicap (80/1) at Salisbury (8f, good) 21 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Expected to come up short again. 25-race maiden who makes very limited appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (3.5/1 +0%) Precedent |
3.5/1(+0%) | (7) Precedent 3.5/1, Maiden who produced best effort yet for this yard when second behind a progressive sort at Hamilton (8.3f, soft) 2 starts back. Subsequent Beverley fifth a shade disappointing but return to this shorter trip rates a plus and he's one to consider. Second on two of five starts for this stable; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5/1 +0%) Turbo Command |
5/1(+0%) | (8) Turbo Command 5/1, Dual winner at Southwell (7f) earlier this year and creditable efforts on each of his last 3 starts on turf, third of 6 in handicap at Ayr (1m) earlier this month. Each-way possibilities again. Made the frame three consecutive times at Ayr this summer; probably in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (7/1 +13%) Josiebond |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Josiebond 7/1, Resumed winning ways at Beverley (8.5f, soft) in June and respectable efforts from revised mark next 2 starts. Rare below-par display at Doncaster (1m) 5 weeks ago but she's not the type to stay down for long. Beverley winner in June but didn't fire last time and would appeal more on slow ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TURBO COMMAND finished a respectable third when appearing to go for home too soon at Ayr a fortnight ago and the six-year-old may regain the winning thread if delaying his challenge in this contest. Bulls Aye drops into 0-60 company and better is expected from Iain Jardine's charge now returned to the scene of his last victory. The Intello gelding may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Retirement Beckons, who also has the form to get involved.
PRECEDENT may have found the return to 1¼m catching him out when disappointing on his latest start at Beverley in July but he'd previously shaped well when runner-up to a progressive sort at Hamilton and he could be worth chancing. Shahnaz would be a danger to all if bouncing back from her much-reduced mark. Turbo Command is also considered.
This return to good ground may prompt a revival from SHAHNAZ, who won off an 11lb higher mark over C&D last summer.

1st (2) (0.44/1 +65%) Alaskan Gold |
0.44/1(+65%) | (2) Alaskan Gold 0.44/1, £200,000 2-y-o, Kodiac colt. Improved on debut form when third in a 13-runner Goodwood maiden (6f) 30 days ago. A repeat should see him tough to beat in this less demanding affair. Third in strong races on his two starts and he holds leading form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (3/1 +25%) Welcome Dream |
3/1(+25%) | (8) Welcome Dream 3/1, Night of Thunder colt who has displayed promise both starts to date, shaping more like a stayer than may be expected on pedigree when plugging on for sixth in Ascot maiden (6f) 33 days ago. May yet to do better, including when tackling 7f. Again displayed promise when sixth in hot maiden at Ascot and he's one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 -136%) Inspiring Speeches |
33/1(-136%) | (4) Inspiring Speeches 33/1, €47,000 yearling, Churchill colt. Not without promise when fifth of 14 in maiden at Thirsk (6f) 2 weeks ago, outpaced 2f out and keeping on final 1f. This stiffer track will suit on that evidence. Fair fifth at Thirsk on recent debut and can improve, but well down pecking order on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (10/1 -100%) Go Big Or Go Home |
10/1(-100%) | (10) Go Big Or Go Home 10/1, Half-sister to top-class sprinter Battaash who showed some ability amidst greenness when 5 lengths fourth of 7 in a Beverley novice (5f) 2 weeks ago, running green before taking fourth late on. Should improve. Inexperience evident on debut; this half-sister to Battaash is open to lots of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -129%) Empire Of Light |
16/1(-129%) | (1) Empire Of Light 16/1, Came on plenty for debut and showed a determined attitude when landing 9-runner Newmarket novice (6f) in June. Clearly not 100% when tailed off last of 10 at Windsor since but should bounce back. Tailed off at Windsor last month but won at Newmarket previously and is not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (33/1 -106%) Sweet Soul Music |
33/1(-106%) | (7) Sweet Soul Music 33/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 8 in maiden at Pontefract (6f, good, 6/1) 22 days ago, beaten when hanging left over 1f out. Nurseries entitled to be more his bag. Kept on for eyecatching 4th at Beverley on debut but failed to build on it at Pontefract. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (100/1 -186%) Infinite Honour |
100/1(-186%) | (3) Infinite Honour 100/1, Once-raced maiden. 40/1, fifth of 9 in maiden at Musselburgh (7.2f, good to soft) on debut 27 days ago, travelling into contention before running green under pressure. Entitled to progress. His debut fifth at Musselburgh wasn't devoid of promise but he needs a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (33/1 -32%) State Of Chaos |
33/1(-32%) | (6) State Of Chaos 33/1, Dark Angel colt who was sent off at long odds but showed ability nevertheless when seventh of 13 in a Wolverhampton novice (6f) 17 days ago. In good hands and he's entitled to progress. In good hands and could be much sharper for debut experience, but has plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (80/1 +0%) Flow So Gently |
80/1(+0%) | (9) Flow So Gently 80/1, Once-raced maiden. 22/1, last of 7 in minor event at Ayr (7.2f, good) on debut 24 days ago, looking green and weakening over 1f out. This promises to reveal more but others make much more appeal. Finished down the field at Ayr (7f, good to soft) on debut and a watching brief is advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (100/1 -52%) Papagrey |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Papagrey 100/1, Foaled April 20. Ardad colt. Brother to 7f winner Platinum Girl and half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 1¼m winner Highwaygrey and 1m winner Delgrey Boy. Yard know this family well but likelihood is he'll be better for this initial experience. Trainer has done well with this family but he may be one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (100/1 -52%) Somekindawonderful |
100/1(-52%) | (11) Somekindawonderful 100/1, Foaled April 16. Lightning Spear filly. Half-sister to 5f winner Dream Revival. Dam maiden (likely to have stayed 1¼m). Probably best watched on debut. Half-sister to 5f AW winner Dream Revival (RPR 61); makes debut and probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
It is hard to oppose ALASKAN GOLD, who has made the frame in both previous starts and the strength of his form suggests that the son of Kodiac is more than capable of getting off the mark here. Welcome Dream is likely to pose the biggest threat to the selection, although Empire Of Light and Go Big Or Go Home should not be discounted.
ALASKAN GOLD improved on his debut form when finishing a good third in a Goodwood maiden (6f) 4 weeks ago and, back in calmer waters, he looks the one to beat. Welcome Dream has showed promise himself in 2 starts to date and is feared, with the very well related Go Big Or Go Home and Empire of Light completing the shortlist.
The Karl Burke-trained ALASKAN GOLD has finished third in hot races on his first two starts and is taken to get off the mark.

1st (5) (2.75/1 -10%) Rock Of England |
2.75/1(-10%) | (5) Rock Of England 2.75/1, Much improved equipped with first-time blinkers when doubling career tally at Hamilton (6f) in June and creditable efforts all 3 starts since, sixth in 11-runner Redcar handicap (6f) 3 weeks ago. No surprise to see him go well again with visor the headgear of choice. In fine form prior to lesser run at Redcar, but had an excuse; could play leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5.5/1 +31%) Glorious Angel |
5.5/1(+31%) | (2) Glorious Angel 5.5/1, Rattled off a quick-fire hat-trick on AW around the turn of the year and she ran right up to the pick of her form on turf when fifth at Redcar (6f) 3 weeks ago. Went off too hard in listed company at Pontefract since but this rates more suitable back in a handicap. Close fifth in Redcar handicap two starts ago and Listed company was too much last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4.5/1 +10%) Secret Guest |
4.5/1(+10%) | (6) Secret Guest 4.5/1, Latest win at Doncaster (6f) in May. Respectable eighth of 15 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good, 14/1) 12 days ago, likely he'd have finished closer without being hampered. Remains relatively low mileage and he's not out of things. Unlucky at Newmarket 12 days ago and he's one to consider having been dropped 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (25/1 +24%) Sparkling Red |
25/1(+24%) | (7) Sparkling Red 25/1, Latest win at Redcar (5f) in May. 25/1, bit below form tenth of 16 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good to firm) 20 days ago, never nearer. Others more persuasive. All starts at 5f; in good form in May/June but hasn't threatened the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (3/1 +54%) Thankuappreciate |
3/1(+54%) | (9) Thankuappreciate 3/1, 6f novice winner as a juvenile who has made the frame on 5 of his 7 starts in 3-y-o handicaps this term. Slow starts have proven his Achilles' heel as a rule but present mark looks workable and no surprise to see a good showing starting out for new yard. Positive performances in defeat in the main this season; very interesting on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/1 +31%) Utilis |
11/1(+31%) | (8) Utilis 11/1, Fifth of 6 in maiden (6/5) at Haydock (7f, good to soft) 41 days ago, headed over 1f out and weakening. Cheekpieces on 1st time ahead of return to handicaps but he does arrive with something to prove. Has had wind surgery. Disappointing this year but perhaps wind surgery (and first-time cheekpieces) will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 +0%) Shandy Star |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Shandy Star 12/1, Cotai Glory filly who was kept busy as a juvenile, gaining third career success in a Pontefract nursery (6f) in October. Struggled up in grade/trip on final start later that month and she's been absent since. First run of the year but won three times last season; one to watch in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (14/1 +30%) Sunny Orange |
14/1(+30%) | (12) Sunny Orange 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Ninth of 11 in handicap (25/1) at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 15 days ago, well positioned. Down in trip. Below par last time and questionable whether he wants today's drop back to a sprint trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (16/1 -78%) Canaria Queen |
16/1(-78%) | (13) Canaria Queen 16/1, Pastoral Pursuits filly. Half-sister to 5f winner Canaria Prince. Gradual progress in trio of maiden/novice events to date, edged out late by a promising newcomer at Leicester (5f) 5 weeks ago. That unlikely to prove her limit now switched to handicaps. Brings potential to handicap debut and her useful dam improved with time for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (33/1 -65%) Flag Flying |
33/1(-65%) | (3) Flag Flying 33/1, Looked well-above average when making a winning debut at Goodwood (6f) last summer but disappointing in trio of starts after, always behind when last of 8 on yard debut at Wolverhampton (6f) in December. Absent since and the betting may guide. Impressive on debut last June but disappointing subsequently; makes belated reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (80/1 -100%) Save The World |
80/1(-100%) | (10) Save The World 80/1, Successful on third start in novice company at Nottingham (6f) for Jane Chapple-Hyam back in October. Switched yards/gelded thereafter but he's offered very little in pair of sprint handicaps in recent months. Had wind op/tongue tie now reached for. Tailed off on both starts this term; hopes pinned on wind op sparking a transformation. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CANARIA QUEEN has improved with every start to date and she was last seen finishing a head second at Leicester last month. Tim Easterby's filly may have more progression left to come and a mark of 66 could underestimate her on handicap debut. Glorious Angel has to be respected now eased significantly in grade, while William Dewhirst edges out Rock Of England to be best of the rest.
THANKUAPPRECIATE needs to cut out the slow starts but he appeals as being on a workable mark on the pick of this season's form and, having eased further in the weights, he could be worth siding with to make a winning debut for the Declan Carroll yard. Rock of England is going through a good spell and is feared most, with Secret Guest also expected to feature.
The consistent THANKUAPPRECIATE earns the vote on his first run for Declan Carroll, while Rock Of England is feared most.

1st (7) (4/1 +43%) Up The Jazz |
4/1(+43%) | (7) Up The Jazz 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 3/1, last of 4 in nursery at Hamilton (6f, good) 41 days ago but the return to 7f may see him in a better light. Ran well in two relatively warm sellers; didn't look happy on the track in Hamilton h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3.5/1 +46%) Action Plan |
3.5/1(+46%) | (1) Action Plan 3.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in nursery (13/2) at Leicester (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect. Only seventh of eight on nursery debut but perhaps the cheekpieces will unlock improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5.5/1 +8%) Vice Captain |
5.5/1(+8%) | (4) Vice Captain 5.5/1, Fair form. Not seen to best effect when fourth of 6 in maiden at Chelmsford (1m) 23 days ago. Hood worn on that occasion retained. Makes handicap debut. Mark looks workable. 0-6 in maidens/novices but looks to be on a fair mark for his nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/1 -100%) Star Of Lazise |
7/1(-100%) | (5) Star Of Lazise 7/1, Career best when winning 8-runner nursery (11/1) at Newcastle (7f) 16 days ago. Not taken lightly up 4 lb. Inconsistent but won AW nursery last time and bang there if on another going day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6.5/1 +46%) Krysdanjord |
6.5/1(+46%) | (3) Krysdanjord 6.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 13 in maiden at Beverley (7.5f, good to firm, 100/1) 15 days ago, not clear run. Makes handicap debut. Mark demands improvement. Soundly beaten on all three runs but has made the journey from Newmarket for nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (12/1 +40%) Peaceful Protest |
12/1(+40%) | (11) Peaceful Protest 12/1, Modest form. 14/1 and cheekpieces on first time, bit below form seventh of 12 in nursery at Beverley (7.5f, good to firm) 14 days ago, worst of draw. Things didn't go her way on nursery debut at Beverley; could be more competitive here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (4.5/1 +10%) Quintus Maximus |
4.5/1(+10%) | (6) Quintus Maximus 4.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Best effort when third of 8 in novice at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) 13 days ago, having run of race. Makes handicap debut. From a good yard so could have more to offer. 3rd of eight on latest novice start and could continue to progress now moving into h'caps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (16/1 -45%) Smooth Silesie |
16/1(-45%) | (8) Smooth Silesie 16/1, Modest form. 40/1, seventh of 10 in nursery at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Placed on first two starts but two lesser runs since, most recently on nursery debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
QUINTUS MAXIMUS (third) had Happy Helen (fourth) a neck behind him at Thirsk on his latest start, which was by far the best effort of his career so far and he could have plenty more to come on his nursery bow of what appears a fair opening mark of 66. Star Of Lazise looks like the main threat after he showed much improved form to score over this trip at Newcastle last time and he could have a say off a 4lb higher mark. Action Plan is another to consider.
STAR OF LAZISE might be able to overcome a 4 lb rise for Newcastle. Vice Captain hasn't been at the top of his game in recent starts but there were excuses last time and his opening mark looks fair if recapturing his best form. Quintus Maximus and Happy Helen are closely matched on recent Thirsk novice form and could have more to come now handicapping.
Having been on the wrong end of both a draw and pace bias when mid-division at Beverley, PEACEFUL PROTEST gets the nod.

1st (7) (14/1 -17%) B Associates |
14/1(-17%) | (7) B Associates 14/1, In very good form at the start of the summer, including a C&D win. Not at best lately but the drop back to 6f may not have suited here last week. Four wins this season but his progress has stalled on his last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1.75/1 +13%) Vixey |
1.75/1(+13%) | (5) Vixey 1.75/1, Came good in 12-runner maiden (5/4) at Redcar (7f, good to firm) 19 days ago, always holding on. Runner-up twice in handicaps prior to that, including C&D. Likely to go well. Two h'cap seconds before Redcar maiden win; lightly raced & could still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 -71%) Patontheback |
6/1(-71%) | (2) Patontheback 6/1, Latest win at Newcastle in August. Good second of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7f, good, 3/1) 20 days ago. Big shout. Comfortable AW win two starts ago; 0-13 on turf but went close at Musselburgh last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6.5/1 +13%) Surprise Picture |
6.5/1(+13%) | (1) Surprise Picture 6.5/1, Latest win at Musselburgh in June. 28/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good) 11 days ago. June 7f winner; returned to form with good recent 3rd at Pontefract (6f); one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7.5/1 +32%) Carlton And Co |
7.5/1(+32%) | (4) Carlton And Co 7.5/1, Winner at Newcastle in August. Shaped as if still in good form when seventh of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f) 17 days ago. Not taken lightly. AW win two starts ago and widest draw excuses subsequent run; also effective on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (7.5/1 +38%) Northbound |
7.5/1(+38%) | (11) Northbound 7.5/1, Latest win at Southwell in April. Bit below form seventh of 13 in handicap (15/2) at Newcastle (7f) 16 days ago. Runner-up over C&D in June and may improve for his recent outing at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (11/1 +56%) Atomise |
11/1(+56%) | (9) Atomise 11/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. Tailed-off last of 14 to Yorkstone in handicap at Doncaster (7f, heavy, 13/2) 26 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Bounce back needed. Good third at Pontefract three starts ago but this season's form has been patchy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (9/1 -50%) Powdering |
9/1(-50%) | (6) Powdering 9/1, Winner at Hamilton in June. 18/1, good third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f) 17 days ago, running on late. Kept on for close third last time (7f AW) and should be suited by this stiff course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 -25%) Reginald Charles |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Reginald Charles 25/1, Ninth of 11 in handicap (17/2) at this course (6f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Visor back on. Has work to do. Good third at York three starts ago but not up to scratch on his other runs this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
VIXEY managed to shed her maiden tag at the sixth time of asking on her latest outing at Redcar and she now steps back into the handicap ranks, where she has finished runner-up twice over C&D this year. The three-year-old filly has held her form well and she can make it a double today. Patontheback went close to a 7f double when a half-length second at Musselburgh latest and a further 2lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Powdering completes the shortlist after her Wolverhampton third.
PATONTHEBACK is in a good vein of form and might be up to notching a second win of the month. The likeable Vixey is second choice ahead of Carlton And Co.

2nd (4) (8/1 -23%) Ayr Poet |
8/1(-23%) | (4) Ayr Poet 8/1, Latest win at Ayr in August. 2/1, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Ayr (1¼m, good) 19 days ago. Not discounted. Slightly below par in hat-trick bid but perhaps a busy spell had caught up with him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4.5/1 -13%) Highwaygrey |
4.5/1(-13%) | (1) Highwaygrey 4.5/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 17/2, respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at Doncaster (1¼m, good to firm) 12 days ago, unable to sustain effort. This represents a drop in grade. Fair sixth at Doncaster recently and down to lowest mark since 2020; not ruled out. |

28/1(-40%) | (9) Lunacy 28/1, Winner at Hamilton in July. Last of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (1¼m, soft, 12/1) 35 days ago, folding tamely. Made all at Hamilton (1m3f) three starts ago but rest of this season's form not up scratch. |

6th (6) (66/1 -200%) Check My Pulse |
66/1(-200%) | (6) Check My Pulse 66/1, Seemingly no better than a modest hurdler/chaser these days so doesn't necessarily strike as an obvious type to make a successful return to the Flat. In first 4 over fences the last twice, but form pretty modest; first Flat run since 2020. |

7th (8) (5.5/1 +54%) Arkenstaar |
5.5/1(+54%) | (8) Arkenstaar 5.5/1, Back-to-back winner at Hamilton in May but his form has levelled off since. Needs to get back on the up. Below par last time but was headstrong; two 1m1f wins earlier in the season. |

8th (2) (5/1 +38%) Arranmore |
5/1(+38%) | (2) Arranmore 5/1, Course winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. Twelfth of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (1m, good to soft, 9/2) 13 days ago. Flopped a fortnight ago but has run some big races this term; in the mix if bouncing back. |

9th (5) (5/1 -82%) Run Simba |
5/1(-82%) | (5) Run Simba 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Visored first time, very good second of 8 in handicap at Ayr (1¼m, good to firm, 15/2) 14 days ago, nearest finish. Less exposed than most of these. Went close in first-time visor at Ayr and this lightly raced 3yo could have more to offer. |

10th (10) (50/1 -150%) Carouselle |
50/1(-150%) | (10) Carouselle 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Well held on 1m Chelmsford handicap debut in January and absent since. Low mileage and from a good yard but would need to see market support to consider back from 7 months off. Well beaten on handicap debut in January but very lightly raced and has useful pedigree. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Highwaygrey wasn't disgraced in sixth at Doncaster last time and he will appreciate this drop in grade after he was kindly dropped 2lb from the handicapper for that effort. However, preference is for course winner WHERE'S JEFF, who has hit the crossbar the last twice over 1m2f at Beverley and he should have no issue with the slight step back in trip here. Ayr Poet has won two out of his last three and should also be considered.
RUN SIMBA reacted well to the visor when second at Ayr a couple of weeks ago and is worth a chance to build on that promise. This is a drop in grade for Highwaygrey and he's second choice ahead of Where's Jeff.
Ths is the racecard key.
