Music Society |
(3) (3/1 -9%)3/1(-9%) | (3) Music Society 3/1, Losing run stretches back to October 2022 but not disgraced when seventh in a 20-runner York handicap (6f) 3 weeks ago, pushed along under 2f out and running on. This rates much less demanding so worth bearing in mind. On a dangerous mark and this is much weaker than last time; 1-1 at the track; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brian The Snail |
(6) (5/1 +23%)5/1(+23%) | (6) Brian The Snail 5/1, Shaped as though in need of the run when fifth of 10 in handicap at Ripon (5f) early on last month and possibly still regaining full fitness judged on his Windsor fourth 7 days ago. Finished a good third in this race 12 months ago and he's worth a second look. Ended 2023 with a Bath win off this mark; needs to step up on this year's two fair runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Giselles Izzy |
(5) (11/1 -267%)11/1(-267%) | (5) Giselles Izzy 11/1, Latest win at Hamilton in May. Bit below form third of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good, 11/2) 9 days ago. Comes here very much on a workable mark and interesting if the market speaks in her favour for all each of her 3 turf victories have come at Hamilton. Stiff 6f suits well; latest effort not as bad as the distance beaten suggests; can go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Runninwild |
(4) (25/1 -614%)25/1(-614%) | (4) Runninwild 25/1, C&D winner who stepped up on his reappearance effort when good sixth of 13 in handicap (18/1) at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time and he's lurking on a handy mark if building on that here. On a lowly mark and this C&D winner now tries cheekpieces; yard quiet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
El Montejean |
(2) (66/1 -780%)66/1(-780%) | (2) El Montejean 66/1, Pontefract winner last summer but yet to get going in 2024, seventh of 9 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, soft, 22/1) 38 days ago. Return to forecast quicker ground could help here and he's now only 2 lb above last winning mark. Returning to sprinting in a small field could help; not hopelessly treated; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Golden Duke |
(1) (80/1 -1500%)80/1(-1500%) | (1) Golden Duke 80/1, Followed a good run with a below-par one when ninth of 11 in handicap (11/2) at Kempton (6f) 8 months ago. Has often needed his first run of the campaign to put him spot on but he's capable of making an impact from this mark if ready to roll on reappearance. Doncaster win last June but still 3lb higher; no great record fresh; vulnerable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A tentative vote goes to RUNNINWILD, who went well from the front before weakening late on over this distance at Thirsk last month. Ann Duffield's charge has dropped 13lb below his last winning mark and the six-year-old may have too much for promising Hamilton third Giselles Izzy, as well as Golden Duke, who has strong claims on his penultimate second at Newcastle.
Veteran BRIAN THE SNAIL possibly still needed the run when fourth at Windsor 7 days ago and, back on his last winning mark, he could be worth siding with to strike in an open-looking affair. Music Society, eased in class, and Giselles Izzy are others to consider.
Music Society is a strong contender but GISELLES IZZY may have his measure this time.

Gold Black |
(4) (66/1 -1550%)66/1(-1550%) | (4) Gold Black 66/1, 2/1, in need of experience when fourth of 8 in maiden (2/1) at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) on debut 17 days ago, not knocked about. Open to improvement. Promising late headway on 6f debut at Hamilton (favourite); looks sure to improve. |

Brooke Winder |
(6) (100/1 -900%)100/1(-900%) | (6) Brooke Winder 100/1, Modest form when fourth in 5f novices here and at Catterick in recent months. Two promising 5f runs, looking more than ready for an extra furlong at Catterick recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Caledonian Dream |
(9) (100/1 -525%)100/1(-525%) | (9) Caledonian Dream 100/1, Foaled February 17. 30,000 gns yearling but this son of Without Paroloe went through the ring for only £3,000 at the breeze-ups in April. £3,000 breeze-up buy; yard 3-12 with 2yos here in last 5 years; worth market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Blue Lakota |
(3) (100/1 -400%)100/1(-400%) | (3) Blue Lakota 100/1, 18/1, last of 6 in minor event at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) on debut 34 days ago, slowly away. Easy to back and not sharp enough to contend on 6f debut; should improve with experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Callout |
(7) (100/1 -1150%)100/1(-1150%) | (7) Callout 100/1, Foaled March 16. €18,000 yearling, £40,000 2-y-o. Soldier's Call colt. Dam, ran twice at 2 yrs, sister to useful sprinter Orvar. A newcomer to note in the betting. £40,000 breeze-up 2yo; trainer 1-10 with 2yos here; market can give some clues.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LINE OF FORCE could not have done it any easier when scoring on debut at Ripon last month and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him from maintaining his unbeaten record. The son of Calyx is likely to have too much for Brooke Winder, who was an eye-catcher at Catterick last time out when detached and green early doors before keeping on well late in the piece. Gold Black is another open to improvement after a respectable debut effort at Hamilton.
LINE OF FORCE was an easy winner on his Ripon debut and looks good enough to defy a penalty. Richard Fahey's Gold Black should be wiser with his Hamilton debut under his belt and is the one likely to give the selection most to do unless the betting speaks strongly in favour of one of the newcomers.
This can go to LINE OF FORCE who showed a useful level of form when winning at Ripon and should improve for the run.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rainbow Rain |
(1) (50/1 -1567%)50/1(-1567%) | (1) Rainbow Rain 50/1, Course winner. Good head second of 13 to Golden Rainbow in handicap (7/2) at Thirsk (5f, good to firm) 12 days ago, running on. Has to be taken seriously. Holding his form well, beaten a head by Golden Rainbow at Thirsk; firmly in the mix again. |

Lezardrieux |

Three Beauz |
(6) (100/1 -150%)100/1(-150%) | (6) Three Beauz 100/1, 33/1, last of 9 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Hard to fancy on recent efforts. No clear excuses when well held in 2024; yard has more obvious claims with Golden Rainbow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GOLDEN RAINBOW and Rainbow Rain have developed quite the rivalry of late, and it is the former who is taken to come out on top again. He was value for more than the winning margin of a head when hanging right and still managing to see off Tracy Waggott's charge at Thirsk last month, and a 3lb rise for that success looks manageable. A capable sort on his day, John Kirkup is another to consider.
RAINBOW RAIN has been knocking on the door lately and this might be the day he comes good again. South Parade is low mileage for a sprinter and impressed with the way she travelled at Thirsk last time so she's second choice ahead of fellow 3-y-o Dc Flyer.
A chance is taken on RAMON DI LORIA who might have needed his last two runs and now returns to the scene of his most recent turf win.

Incensed |
(4) (2/1 -6%)2/1(-6%) | (4) Incensed 2/1, Promising sort. 5/2, second of 13 in maiden at Kempton (11f) 24 days ago. Should progress again and boasts solid claims. Progressive form, going close at Kempton (1m3f) latest; leading clims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cabrera |
(3) (25/1 -733%)25/1(-733%) | (3) Cabrera 25/1, Thrice-raced filly. Second of 13 in maiden (16/1) at Haydock (10.2f, good) 30 days ago. That form is looking strong and she's open to more improvement, so plenty to like about her chances. Promise on all three starts, going down by only a neck at Haydock latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lady La Fay |
(6) (33/1 -450%)33/1(-450%) | (6) Lady La Fay 33/1, Twice-raced filly. 40/1, fourth of 13 in maiden at Haydock (10.2f, good) 30 days ago. Remains with progress in her. Fair form but behind the reopposing Cabrera on both starts. |

Kitty Furnival |
(5) (100/1 -4344%)100/1(-4344%) | (5) Kitty Furnival 100/1, Thrice-raced filly. Third of 13 in maiden at Kempton (11f, 4/5) 24 days ago. One to consider for all that the form of her penultimate run isn't really working out. Close second on 1m2f Leicester return but 3l behind Incensed at Kempton since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pennymuir |
(7) (250/1 -100%)250/1(-100%) | (7) Pennymuir 250/1, Once-raced filly. 80/1, fifth of 7 in maiden at Hamilton (9.2f, good) on debut 9 days ago. Up in trip. Hard to fancy. 300-1, beaten 23l on recent 1m2f Redcar debut. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
INCENSED put in a career best when a short-head second over 1m3f at Kempton last month and it would be no surprise to see Andrew Balding's filly go one better here. That said, Cabrera was also narrowly denied on her most recent outing at Haydock and could give the selection plenty to think about. Kitty Furnival edges out Lady La Fay to be best of the rest.
CABRERA shaped best last time and the winner has come out and run well since, so she's worth chancing to get the better of Incensed for all that she's also looked a useful filly in the making. Kitty Furnival is another one to consider but her latest effort was a touch underwhelming.
Top of the list is INCENSED, who went down only to a useful prospect at Kempton last time. Cabrera may follow her home.

(3) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (3) Cable Rate 9/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 10 in maiden at Lingfield (5f, good, 8/1) 26 days ago. Hard to quantify that form but she's of interest nonetheless on nursery debut. 33-1 winner at Beverley and may be open to further progress; high on the list. |

Far Above Mary |
(4) (12/1 +0%)12/1(+0%) | (4) Far Above Mary 12/1, Last of 12 in seller (20/1) at Chester (7f, good) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Needs to bounce back. Seven-race maiden; beat just one rival in two sellers in June; needs to get back on track. |

Barmyblade |
(5) (50/1 -150%)50/1(-150%) | (5) Barmyblade 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in minor event at Chester (6.1f, good to soft, 66/1) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Others are more appealing. Little promise so far but now steps up in distance and wears cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Liberty Bird has to be respected following her Beverley success 11 days ago, but marginal preference is for ISLA BELLA. The daughter of Land Force was second in a valuable seller at York last time and that form suggests that an opening mark of 67 should be workable. The rest all need to improve but Greek Gift and Cable Rate are the pick of them.
GREEK GIFT represents shrewd connections and has left the impression that there's a bigger effort in her, so she's fancied to defy a lowly opening mark at the possible expense of Liberty Bird, who improved markedly to open her account at Beverley last time. Isla Bella also warrants consideration in a thin race.
Solid form is thin on the ground and the suggestion is GREEK GIFT who has had a break and should be suited by today's step up in trip.

Dropped to a handy mark and there was more encouragement in latest effort. Sole British win over 1m in late 2022; lightly raced since; has become well treated. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In a competitive affair where a case can be made for many, HELTER SKELTER gets a tentative vote. Rebecca Menzies' charge was unsuited by the way the race developed when seventh over 7f at Ayr on his penultimate start, prior to finishing an eye-catching second over C&D last month. Sporting first-time blinkers off 1lb higher, a bold bid is anticipated. Orbaan got back to winning ways over this track and trip latest and he is respected upped 6lb, while Barley completes the shortlist.
LAHAB was considerably better than the result when a staying-on seventh behind Orbaan in the Carlisle Bell 10 days ago and, if he can sit a bit handier this time, he could be capable of turning the tables with his old rival. Barley won the consolation race at the same meeting and deserves respect.
This can go to ORBAAN (nap) who had been treading water for the best part of a year but was an emphatic winner of the Bell last time.

Well treated on old form if she's able to build on that now. Ended losing run at Hamilton (about 1m) latest; has good record here; good option. |

Cloch Nua |
(8) (11/1 +21%)11/1(+21%) | (8) Cloch Nua 11/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) 12 days ago, missing break and plugging on inside final 1f. Needs to cut the slow starting out. Both wins on AW but ran well here last June and 11lb lower now; not ruled out. |

Star Start |
(3) (12/1 -100%)12/1(-100%) | (3) Star Start 12/1, C&D winner. 13/2, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Yet to find his best form this year but switch of headgear could have a positive effect and he's lurking on a handy mark. Two 1m2f wins in 2023 but not yet back in form since reappearing in May; headgear switch. |

Lunacy |
(7) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (7) Lunacy 16/1, Tenth of 13 in handicap (28/1) at this C&D (good to soft) 26 days ago, ridden approaching 3f out and weakening. Had wind surgery since but only market support would make him of interest. Two 1m3f wins at Hamilton in 2023; no spark this year but had wind op since latest run. |

Balqaa |
(9) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (9) Balqaa 16/1, Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. Respectable seventh of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 11/1) 9 days ago, keeping on when short of room inside final 1f. Losing run tempers enthusiasm here, though. Most of best form on Tapeta; not far away at Ayr in May but needs more to break turf duck. |

Ledger |
(2) (16/1 -300%)16/1(-300%) | (2) Ledger 16/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Creditable length third of 13 to Shahnaz in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good to firm, 7/2) 24 days ago, conceding first run. Looks sure to give another good account. Healthy 4-13 strike-rate for this yard, the latest 2 at Hamilton; good 3rd there latest. |

Little Ted |
(5) (28/1 -300%)28/1(-300%) | (5) Little Ted 28/1, Quirky sort. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Respectable third of 10 in handicap at Beverley (8.4f, good to soft, 6/1) 18 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Others more persuasive. Last 3 turf wins at Ripon; below best in two turf runs this year, including on that track. |

Solanna |
(1) (28/1 -250%)28/1(-250%) | (1) Solanna 28/1, 3-time winner on turf/AW last season but yet to fire this time round, only ninth of 14 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 35 days ago. Worth noting if the market speaks in her favour returned to turf. Three wins at 1m3f and 1m2f in first half of 2023; below best on AW in 2024; back on turf. |

National Question |
(11) (80/1 -700%)80/1(-700%) | (11) National Question 80/1, Creditable third of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Record is hit and miss but he's an each-way player with a repeat. Maiden; placed in two of last three starts (1m/1m1f) but held each time; needs more. |

Rampant |
(6) (80/1 -300%)80/1(-300%) | (6) Rampant 80/1, Maiden who ran up to very best when second at Newcastle (10.2f) in August but disappointed final 3 starts for Ewan Whillans. Needs to hit the ground running now starting out for new yard. Out of sorts for previous yard in the autumn; off since; a contender on August form (1m2f). |

Highland Loch |
(10) (100/1 -100%)100/1(-100%) | (10) Highland Loch 100/1, 100/1 and blinkered for 1st time, twelfth of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 9 days ago, pushed along under 3f out and soon beaten. Plenty to prove. Had few realistic chances but soundly beaten in all 3 handicaps, including over C&D. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SHAHNAZ (first) got the better of Ledger (third) when the pair met over an extended mile at Hamilton last month and, even though the latter is 2lb better off at the weights this time around, she can confirm her superiority over that rival en route to bringing up a double. Star Start looks the pick of the remainder off 4lb lower than his last winning mark and, provided the application of blinkers has the desired effect, he can earn himself a spot on the podium.
STAR START has yet to fully fire this campaign but he was far from disgraced when finishing midfield at Doncaster 8 days ago and, in a change of headgear from a further reduced mark, he could represent a spot of value having won over this C&D last summer. Hamilton-scorer Shahnaz and Ledger, who continues in good form, are others fancied to be firmly in the shake-up.
Shahnaz and Ledger are in good form but perhaps SOLANNA can revive now back on turf off his favourable mark.
Ths is the racecard key.
