Victoriano |
(2) (30/1 -50%)30/1(-50%) | (2) Victoriano 30/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (14f, soft, 40/1) 27 days ago. Up in trip and he looks set for another struggle. Best turf form has come on good and faster ground; opposable under the likely conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (11/2 +31%) Bonne Vitesse |
11/2(+31%) | (3) Bonne Vitesse 11/2, Bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap (13/2) at Catterick (12.1f, heavy) 58 days ago, inadequate test. This trip is more her thing and she merits respect. Has won over 2m on soft ground and should appreciate stepping back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/4 -7%) Tarbat Ness |
7/4(-7%) | (6) Tarbat Ness 7/4, One win from 21 Flat runs. 4/1, good 1½ lengths second of 9 to Ney in handicap at Ripon (16f, good) 21 days ago, clear of rest. Another bold show anticipated. Behind Ney in last 2 starts, finishing closer last time; greater stamina test should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +22%) Cold Henry |
7/1(+22%) | (4) Cold Henry 7/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 7 lengths ninth of 14 to Ney in handicap at Catterick (13.9f, good, 7/2) 31 days ago. Back up in trip and cheekpieces refitted. On a losing run of 13 and behind a couple of these at Catterick last time; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/8 -8%) Ney |
13/8(-8%) | (1) Ney 13/8, Three wins from 7 runs this year. Career best when winning 9-runner handicap (evens) at Ripon (16f, good) 21 days ago by 1½ lengths from Tarbat Ness, staying on well. Not taken lightly. Bids for a hat-trick after two wins on good ground; handled soft ground well over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 +39%) Gold Ring |
20/1(+39%) | (7) Gold Ring 20/1, Fifth of 8 in handicap at Doncaster (14.5f, soft, 28/1) 34 days ago, having run of race. Likely to find a few too good. Handles testing ground well but is inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (25/1 -108%) Bouncing Bobby |
25/1(-108%) | (5) Bouncing Bobby 25/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Ayr (13.1f, good to soft, 11/1) 32 days ago. Significantly up in trip and he looks vulnerable for win purposes. Back off last winning mark but still to show that he wants this far on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (80/1 -60%) Monticello |
80/1(-60%) | (8) Monticello 80/1, Twenty-three runs since last win in 2016. Seventh of 8 in handicap hurdle (10/1) at this course (19.3f, soft). Off 14 months. Latest effort in this sphere was poor, too, and it's best to look elsewhere. 0-33 since winning his first two starts as a 2yo; off 14 months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 +34%) Best Guess |
66/1(+34%) | (9) Best Guess 66/1, Last of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f, 125/1) 45 days ago. Significantly up in trip and he's hard to warm to. 0-10 under rules and his efforts on the AW this year don't suggest that is about to change. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
NEY had little difficulty in completing a quickfire double at Ripon earlier this month and another bold bid is forecast. Danny Brooke's charge is only 4lb higher in the ratings than last time and the six-year-old is sure to prove a warm order. The biggest threat may emerge from Tarbat Ness, who finished behind the selection in second at Ripon, while Bonne Vitesse should appreciate a return to this greater emphasis on stamina.
TARBAT NESS has won just one of his 17 starts but he has shaped well in the handicaps won by Ney at Catterick and Ripon the last twice, leaving the impression that his turn is very near. The 5-y-o is taken to deliver on that promise back on a stiffer track, and prevent his old rival from completing the hat-trick in the process. Bonne Vitesse will appreciate this step back up in trip and she is third choice.
Ney and TARBAT NESS meet for the third race in a row. The latter may be the more favoured by this greater stamina test.

1st (1) (8/1 -60%) Ain't Nobody |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Ain't Nobody 8/1, Foaled March 25. £30,000 yearling, Sands of Mali colt. Dam 6f winner (including at 2 yrs). Appeals as a likely type on paper so interesting if market vibes are positive behind him on debut. Stable has had a couple of 2yos go in first time this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/4 +0%) Georgecandoit |
7/4(+0%) | (4) Georgecandoit 7/4, Territories colt who cemented the positive start made when second of 10 to Al Hussar in maiden at Doncaster (5f, firm, 6/4) 13 days ago, every chance entering final 1f and no extra near finish. Likely he can play a part again. Runner-up in both starts this month; sets the standard and a major player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (Evens +56%) Airspeed |
Evens(+56%) | (2) Airspeed Evens, Foaled February 15. Soldier's Call colt. Dam 5f/6f winner (including at 2 yrs). Represents a stable boasting a 26% strike with their juveniles on turf so far this campaign and he needs factoring in on debut. Stable has had several 2yo newcomers either win or go close so far this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (22/1 -38%) Brooke Winder |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Brooke Winder 22/1, Foaled January 22. 20,000 gns yearling, Mehmas colt. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m The Mackem Bullet. Stable doesn't have many 2yos go in first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 -21%) Joshuas Dream |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Joshuas Dream 40/1, Foaled March 30. Expert Eye colt. Dam unraced half-sister to useful 1¼m-2m winner Laws of Spin. 14/1, proved far too free last of 5 in maiden at Hamilton (5f, good) on debut 14 days ago. Looks one for later on. Proved a hard ride when last of five on his Hamilton debut; looks to need more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -180%) Magic Micky |
14/1(-180%) | (6) Magic Micky 14/1, Kodi Bear colt. Half-brother to winner abroad by Dandy Man. 13/2, third of 10 in maiden at Redcar (6f, good) on debut 11 days ago, showing plenty of speed and no extra final 100 yds. Should give another good account dropped to the minimum trip. Fair third on his Redcar debut; possibilities with the experience under his belt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
GEORGECANDOIT posted another creditable effort in defeat when runner-up at Doncaster in mid-May. The Territories colt sets the standard of those with race experience and a breakthrough victory could be in the offing. Magic Micky rates an obvious danger after finishing a promising third on his debut at Redcar recently, although market support for the Karl Burke-trained Airspeed would be interesting on his opening bid.
GEORGECANDOIT has ran well to finish runner-up on both starts to date and, with this stiffer track looking likely to suit kept to the minimum trip, he can put his experience to good use with underfoot conditions also holding no fears. Ain't Nobody and Airspeed are interesting newcomers to note and need monitoring in the market for clues. Magic Micky is clearly a sharp juvenile and can also feature.
The choice is GEORGECANDOIT who sets a fair standard having finished runner-up in both starts. That experience could prove key.

Reprised |
(8) (7/1 +42%)7/1(+42%) | (8) Reprised 7/1, Ended time with Karl Burke with success at Southwell (6f) in January. Changed hands for 27,000 gns after and having not been disgraced at Lingfield next time, she ran below form when third of 5 in handicap (15/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 43 days ago. AW winner who ran well in heavy ground in sole turf outing, but high enough in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (4/1 -20%) Angel Shared |
4/1(-20%) | (6) Angel Shared 4/1, Signed off 2-y-o campaign with victory in 4-runner Haydock nursery (5f) in September and picked up where she left off when scoring from the front in another small-field affair at Bath (5f, soft) 33 days ago. Possible there's more to come. Has only beaten a total of five rivals in her last two wins; more needed from 7lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/4 +47%) Elegant Erin |
7/4(+47%) | (2) Elegant Erin 7/4, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Creditable third of 13 in handicap (10/1) at Thirsk (5f, soft) 27 days ago, that despite not being seen to very best effect. That effort suggested her turn may not be far away and return to class 4 company another plus. Won this race two years ago and 4lb below last winning mark; suited by a stiff track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/1 +56%) May Blossom |
11/1(+56%) | (1) May Blossom 11/1, 40/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, stepped up on yard debut/reappearance effort without getting competitive when seventh of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Blinkers back on and her mark is steadily easing. Held in two starts over 6f since returning but 5f suits better; back off last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -140%) Bella Kopella |
9/1(-140%) | (3) Bella Kopella 9/1, 2 wins from 4 runs this year. Career best when winning 10-runner handicap (8/1) at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 17 days ago, suited by emphasis on stamina. Not taken lightly nudged up 2 lb for all underfoot conditions are a concern. Suited by a stiff track, but soft ground or worse would pose a question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (15/2 +53%) Canaria Queen |
15/2(+53%) | (9) Canaria Queen 15/2, Capitalised on a falling mark to win 7-runner handicap (3/1) at Wetherby (5.5f, soft) last month but found a 4 lb higher mark preventing a repeat when fifth of 6 in handicap at Catterick (6f, soft, 4/1) 8 days ago. Needs to pull out a little more. Winning reappearance at Wetherby and met trouble at Catterick last time; not out of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (6/1 +70%) Isle Of Dreams |
6/1(+70%) | (7) Isle Of Dreams 6/1, Prolific winning mare who may have needed the run returning from 6 months off when fourth of 8 in handicap (8/1) at Doncaster (6f, soft) 34 days ago. Has edged back down to last winning mark and conditions will hold no fears. 7-14 on turf and is back off her last winning mark; goes on any ground; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (40/1 -186%) Game Breaker |
40/1(-186%) | (4) Game Breaker 40/1, Successful making nursery debut at Thirsk (6f) on final start last summer and probably needed first start for 10 months on debut for new yard when sixth of 7 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago, slowly away and racing off the pace. This should reveal more. Soft-ground winner for Ralph Beckett last summer, but well held on return/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (16/1 -14%) Back Before Dark |
16/1(-14%) | (10) Back Before Dark 16/1, Showed benefit of debut experience when winning 13-runner course maiden (5.8f, soft) last June. Probably best not judged too harshly on return effort faced with contrasting ground at Doncaster (6f, firm) 13 days ago and switch to handicaps rates a plus. Won here last June, but well held on recent return; needs to have come on from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (12/1 -20%) Je Ne Sais Quoi |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Je Ne Sais Quoi 12/1, Dual winner as a juvenile for William Haggas, latterly a Nottingham nursery (5f, soft) in October. Faced stiff task and never figured at Newmarket 6f, listed) on stable debut in November but returns to action at a more suitable level. Won twice over 5f/6f on varying ground last season; bit to prove after seven months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The hat-trick seeking Angel Shared is sure to have her supporters. However, a 7lb rise in the ratings for last month's Bath triumph requires another career-best performance from Steph Hollinshead's filly. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on C&D winner ELEGANT ERIN, who shaped as if she's ready to strike again when finishing third at Thirsk earlier this month. Bella Kopella and Back Before Dark are also noted.
ELEGANT ERIN's losing run is mounting up but she dropped the hint her turn may be imminent when third at Thirsk 4 weeks ago, that despite not being seen entirely to best effect. She shades the vote to confirm the promise showed then, with progressive 3-y-o Angel Shared another on the shortlist. Je Ne Sais Quoi and Bella Kopella complete the shortlist.
The vote goes to the 2022 winner ELEGANT ERIN, who is suited by a stiff track and has dropped 4lb below her last winning mark.

1st (7) (13/2 +80%) Edgewater Drive |
13/2(+80%) | (7) Edgewater Drive 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, first run since leaving Ollie Sangster when eighth of 15 in handicap at Wetherby (8f, soft) 33 days ago. Back down in trip and looks set for another struggle. Hasn't finished within 10l of the winner in four starts; dropped right back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/8 -95%) Anglesey Lad |
13/8(-95%) | (2) Anglesey Lad 13/8, Blinkered for 1st time, good second of 6 in handicap (11/8) at Brighton (5.3f, good) 10 days ago, clear of rest. Likely to prove a tough nut to crack. Runner-up in his last two starts and the form of both is working out well; 1lb well in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 +20%) Profiteer |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Profiteer 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f, good) 28 days ago. Sizeable step forward will be needed if he's to open his account here. Encouraging third on Musselburgh return; stable has taken two of the last six runnings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (14/1 +58%) Parson's Meadow |
14/1(+58%) | (9) Parson's Meadow 14/1, Below form eighth of 13 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good, 28/1) 18 days ago. Needs to find improvement from somewhere. Third of five on his debut here a year ago, but modest in five subsequent starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (22/1 +0%) Oriental Prince |
22/1(+0%) | (4) Oriental Prince 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 100/1, last of 5 in maiden at Ayr (6f, good) 29 days ago. Needs to raise his game now pitched into a handicap. From a successful family the trainer knows well; could improve now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/1 +42%) Miss Rainbow |
7/1(+42%) | (1) Miss Rainbow 7/1, 15/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 45 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Placed in three of her first four handicaps but needs to bounce back from a modest effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -136%) Lady Of The Garr |
33/1(-136%) | (6) Lady Of The Garr 33/1, 17/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (5f). Off 101 days and she's opposable. Unplaced all six starts; down another 3lb for this return to turf but hard to warm to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (12/1 +40%) Askim |
12/1(+40%) | (8) Askim 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, sixth of 9 in seller at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 17 days ago, inadequate test. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Out of the frame in five starts including in a Beverley seller; plenty more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (15/2 -50%) Dollarindex |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Dollarindex 15/2, Creditable third of 14 in handicap (33/1) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time and she merits consideration. Encouraging turf debut when third at Ripon 12 days ago; off the same mark; cheekpieces on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Profiteer was beaten into third on his handicap debut over 5f at Musselburgh, but he has been dropped 2lb for that effort and could appreciate the step back up in trip. However, the vote goes to DOLLARINDEX, who was denied by just under three lengths into third in this grade at Ripon and she goes off an unchanged mark. Bryan Smart's three-year-old sports first-time cheekpieces, which could eke out the improvement required to shed her maiden tag. Anglesey Lad completes the shortlist.
ANGLESEY LAD has found just one too good on three of his last four starts and this represents a clear-cut opportunity for David Loughnane's charge to deservedly open his account. Dollarindex wouldn't need to improve much for the fitting of cheekpieces to have a say in the finish and she is the clear pick for forecast purposes ahead of Askim.
This can go to ANGLESEY LAD. The form of both races in which he finished second this month is working out well and he is 1lb well in.

1st (2) (11/10 -21%) Test Of Love |
11/10(-21%) | (2) Test Of Love 11/10, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap (3/1) at Salisbury (7f, good) 6 days ago, running on. Should give it a good shot under a penalty. Off the mark at Salisbury six days ago; major player despite the penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (14/1 -40%) Wait And Hope |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Wait And Hope 14/1, Winner at Kempton in January. 12/1, tenth of 13 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, soft) 35 days ago. It's starting to look as though he's essentially an AW specialist. Running well on AW this year, but his two efforts on turf raise doubt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 +0%) Blufferonthebus |
4/1(+0%) | (5) Blufferonthebus 4/1, Two wins from 4 runs this year. 17/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 11 days ago, impressively. Carries penalty. Engaged 7.25 here Thursday. Two wins this spring; creditable minor honours from off pace here (1m1f, soft) on Thursday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 +26%) Roberto Caro |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Roberto Caro 10/3, Thrice-raced winner. First run since leaving Ollie Sangster when second of 12 in minor event at Redcar (7f, soft, 9/2) 29 days ago, slowly away. More needed now handicapping but he's hardly exposed. Form of latest Redcar second often boosted; 1lb well in; much respected on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/2 +17%) Gone Rogue |
15/2(+17%) | (3) Gone Rogue 15/2, 6/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Epsom (8.5f, good to firm) 38 days ago. Needs to get back on track now equipped with first-time blinkers. Won twice over 7f last year, but out of the frame in all three starts since; blinkers on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TEST OF LOVE accounted for his nearest rival by over a length when stepping back up in distance at Salisbury on his latest outing. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding takes a further rise in trip, which looks a good move, and he can carry 6lb extra to record a double. Gone Rogue has failed to fire so far this year but first-time blinkers could spark a revival, while Roberto Caro is unexposed and seemingly heading the right way.
There should be better to come from TEST OF LOVE, who opened his account at the sixth time of asking at Salisbury recently and he looks capable of defying a penalty. Roberto Caro and Gone Rogue are taken to fill the places, with Blufferonthebus due to run here on Thursday evening and Wait And Hope yet to prove his effectiveness on turf.
Preference is for the unexposed ROBERTO CARO on handicap debut. His latest second of 12 at Redcar could hardly be working out better.

12/1(+14%) | (6) Jkr Cobbler 12/1, Completed a 7f hat-trick at Ayr last summer and placed off similar marks to this in the autumn. Much depends on whether he's fully primed after 7 months off. Did well last year, but has been off for 224 days and has no great record fresh. |

2nd (8) (11/4 +31%) Darbucks |
11/4(+31%) | (8) Darbucks 11/4, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 13 in handicap (5/1) at Ayr (7.2f, good) 17 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Form of latest Ayr second working out well; a win and a narrow defeat in two visits here. |

15/2(-36%) | (3) Mr Squires 15/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 7-runner handicap at Southwell (7f, 9/2) 49 days ago, always holding on. Respected despite a 6 lb rise. Won well on the AW at Southwell last time, but well beaten in three starts on turf. |

11/4(+45%) | (2) Buckshaw Village 11/4, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022 but he has been knocking on the door this year, finishing second again at Leicester (7f, good) 20 days ago. 6th (7) (5/1 -25%) Ring Of Gold |
5/1(-25%) | (7) Ring Of Gold 5/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 10/3, creditable second of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to soft) 35 days ago. On a losing run of 17 and 0-14 on turf, but ran well when second at Doncaster last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (28/1 -133%) Majestic Newlaw |
28/1(-133%) | (10) Majestic Newlaw 28/1, 12/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good) 14 days ago but had been a creditable second at Ayr prior to that. 0-10; second at Ayr this month but didn't back it up last time; down the pecking order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (12/1 +25%) Shandy Star |
12/1(+25%) | (1) Shandy Star 12/1, Below par this season, although latest sixth of 13 in handicap (28/1) at Beverley (7.4f, good) 25 days ago was a slight step back in the right direction. Has dropped to a favourable mark, but needs to better her three efforts since returning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (28/1 -75%) Redrosezorro |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Redrosezorro 28/1, Course winner. 16/1, creditable fourth of 14 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good) 18 days ago. One of 2 from his yard with a good shout. Catterick specialist who has also won here; twice run well since cheekpieces went back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (25/1 -257%) Bossy Parker |
25/1(-257%) | (4) Bossy Parker 25/1, Won back to back over 7f at Wolverhampton this year but his run of good form came to a halt at Chelmsford (7f) 63 days ago. Reverts to turf now. Did well on the AW earlier in year; won twice over this trip on turf in Ireland as a 2yo. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Mr Squires made most of the running to score in comfortable fashion at Southwell last month, but he was put up 6lb for that triumph and will need to prove as effective on turf. With that in mind, the vote goes to RING OF GOLD, who just got up to snatch the runner-up spot from Darbucks (third) in this grade at Doncaster last time and he goes off the same mark. With Lewis Chalkley claiming 7lb this time around, he could be the one to beat. Redrosezorro is another to consider.
DARBUCKS has returned in good form and perhaps this is the day he can snap his lengthy losing run. Buckshaw Village is another who hasn't tasted success for a while but he went close again last time and is second choice ahead of recent Southwell scorer Mr Squires and the selection's stablemate Redrosezorro.
The choice is DARBUCKS (nap), the form of his latest Ayr run having worked out so well. He has won and gone close in two starts here.
Ths is the racecard key.
