14:00 Carlisle Stakes (Class 3) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Kaolinite ran a debut full of promise at Southwell over this trip and he is likely to have learned a lot from that experience, which gives him a big shout. However, preference is still for TROPICAL AIR, who is a half-brother to Aesop's Fables and he is fancied to show enough pace to strike on debut. Any market support for Instant Recall should be noted.

The opener can go the way of KAOLINITE who wasn't seen to best effect when third at Southwell on debut a fortnight ago, making headway when denied a run over 1f out. He can put his experience to good use to open his account, though Instant Recall is respected for Karl Burke on his first start and Tropical Air could also go well.

Preference is for very interesting newcomer INSTANT RECALL, who has striking credentials. Kaolinite is second choice.

LTO Selection:

14:35 Carlisle Handicap (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THE THIN BLUE LINE (second) and Huddle Up (fifth) renew rivalry from last week at Hamilton, and the former shades the vote once more as he looked well on top of his opponent on that occasion and boasts leading claims to go one better. Another to consider is Our Absent Friends, who filled the runner-up spot at Ayr over 6f when beaten just under a length. He can go well off a 1lb higher mark.

THE THIN BLUE LINE arrives in good form, getting back to winning ways at Musselburgh in April before running at least as well when second at Hamilton, so he is taken to provide Keith Dalgleish with back-to-back victories in this race. Heading the list of dangers is the consistent Princess Karine, while Glorious Rio could fare better returned to this course.

With his new yard back in better form NELSON GAY may well be the answer. Princess Karine is second choice.

Done most winning on the AW and has struggled since returned to turf; outsider.
LTO Selection:

15:10 Carlisle Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PAPA COCKTAIL did it nicely at Haydock last month when a comfortable two-length winner, and he has been put up another 7lb in the weights for that display. The son of Churchill is rapidly on the improve and he is fancied to make it a treble. The main danger might be Straits Of Moyle, who took a step forward in first-time cheekpieces last time at Thirsk. Of the remainder, Lord Abama appeals the most.

PAPA COCKTAIL has returned to form on his last 2 starts, again impressing with how he travelled when scoring back on turf at Haydock last time, and he can go on to complete the hat-trick. Straits of Moyle bounced back in first-time cheekpieces when third at Thirsk earlier this month and is feared most, ahead of Westmorian.

Well treated after a barren spell on the AW STRAITS OF MOYLE showed more back on turf last time and is preferred to Papa Cocktail.

LTO Selection:

15:40 Carlisle Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WHAT'S THE STORY spent most of his winter in Bahrain and stepped forward from his comeback fifth at Wolverhampton to get to within half a length of a progressive rival at Hamilton. Off the same mark, he is taken to go one better, although Sucellus signed off 2022 with a surprise success on the all-weather and is dangerous if returning in the same form. Detective loves it here and two C&D triumphs last season include a three-quarter-length verdict in this contest.

Having dropped to a handy mark, WHAT'S THE STORY ran well back on turf after 10 weeks off when third at Hamilton 8 days ago and he can build on that and return to winning ways. Five-time course winner Detective could be the biggest threat back down in trip, while Alazwar is the pick of the remainder with his reappearance run behind him.

Course specialist DETECTIVE gets the verdict. Strongbowe (second choice) and What's The Story are respected.

16:10 Carlisle Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LEAP YEAR LAD gained reward for some sound efforts in defeat when justifying favouritism at Hamilton, and the runner-up has given the form a boost by going one better at the same venue. Kevin Ryan's three-year-old is capable of continuing his forward momentum, although he comes up against some interesting handicap newcomers, not least Farhhfromforgotten, Hills Of Gold and easy Wolverhampton scorer Sophia's Starlight. Gone hasn't done too badly since making a successful reappearance at Lingfield and she is only 1lb higher now.

LEAP YEAR LAD has been holding his form well this year and finally opened his account when successful at Hamilton last time, so he could be able to score again now he's up and running. Farhhfromforgotten remains capable of better now handicapping and isn't taken lightly, with Gone completing the shortlist.

With his recent Class 6 form having substance, LEAP YEAR LAD (nap) is respected back up in grade. Hills Of Gold is feared most.

16:40 Carlisle Maiden (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Trueman ran well when third at Wetherby over this trip on his first start for David O'Meara and is one to consider, but three-year-olds may have the edge at these weights with HOWYOULIKEMENOW likely to go well. Fifth on her only run at Wolverhampton, she ran on over the six furlongs to be beaten less than two lengths and may appreciate the seventh furlong here. Inverlochy is another to think about after her seasonal debut fourth at Lingfield.

HOWYOULIKEMENOW shaped with encouragement first time out and should learn plenty from it, so she takes preference over Agnes Grey and Inverlochy, who are also open to improvement.

The strong vote goes to INVERLOCHY, who remains very interesting on her 2yo effort. Howyoulikemenow is second choice.

LTO Selection:

17:15 Carlisle Handicap (Class 6) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

IOLANI has won and also placed numerous times over hurdles since his last run on the Flat and, as the only C&D winner in the field, he may be the one to beat off this mark. We Still Believe is the in-form option after his Newcastle second, but his best Flat form is over a furlong or more shorter which has to be a slight concern. Unlucky Catterick third Prince Achille is therefore put forward as the main danger.

WE STILL BELIEVE has made a sound start for his new yard and there could be more to come, so he gets the nod ahead of Prince Achille, who finished with running left at Catterick a week ago. Ghostly is another one to consider.

Granted better fortune, PRINCE ACHILLE could well open his account. We Still Believe is feared most.
