1st (8) (22/1 -10%) Seasett |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Seasett 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 8f on flat. Twelfth of 16 in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Fairyhouse (20.6f, heavy) 66 days ago. Others make more appeal. Fairly useful 1m Flat winner but yet to match that for his current yard in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +40%) Masked Crusader |
9/2(+40%) | (2) Masked Crusader 9/2, Landed a pair of novice hurdles in 2022. Temperament has come under suspicion since, although he showed a bit more the last twice and he should benefit from this drop back in trip. Not ruled out. Failed to get home when sixth in 3m Musselburgh h'cap latest; back in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3/1 +25%) Enemy At The Gate |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Enemy At The Gate 3/1, Maiden who ran as well as he ever has when runner-up at Ayr on his penultimate start, then shaped better than the result (late error) at the same track last time. Down in trip with a tongue strap back on, he's one to be interested in. Remains winless but he's proving a reliable sort; shortlisted with tongue-strap back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (28/1 +30%) Ashjan |
28/1(+30%) | (12) Ashjan 28/1, Won 3 times over fences in 2022 but recent efforts haven't been all that inspiring. A three-time chasing winner but not the most reliable nowadays; a stone out of the h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6/4 +33%) Yealand |
6/4(+33%) | (3) Yealand 6/4, Going the right way since switched to handicaps, scoring at Newcastle before a smooth-travelling second at the same course three weeks ago. More to come and worth a chance to get back to winning ways. On the up and an excellent second in Newcastle h'cap; up 3lb but holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (28/1 -12%) So Ladylike |
28/1(-12%) | (11) So Ladylike 28/1, Little encouragement under Rules and up against it from out of the weights for all that she's joined a new stable. Is now 0-17 and she was well below par when last seen in early summer for Colin McBratney. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (8/1 -167%) St John's Road |
8/1(-167%) | (4) St John's Road 8/1, Finished runner-up in a bumper and has shaped with encouragement on both hurdling outings. Should relish this longer trip, so she looks a definite player on handicap debut. Has gone with promise when placed on all her three runs; player on h'cap debut up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (66/1 -230%) Iron Heart |
66/1(-230%) | (7) Iron Heart 66/1, Fair hurdles winner but struggled for form on the Flat last year. Fared better when runner-up on his stable/chase debut at Worcester (20f) in September, but has gone backwards from that effort in 2 starts since. Returns to hurdling. 2m3f hurdles winner for David Pipe but form has nosedived in three chasing runs this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (22/1 -100%) Bullion Boss |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Bullion Boss 22/1, Modest handicap hurdler who was in form when last seen but that was almost two years ago. Hard to know how much ability he retains. Consistent sort but he returns from a 23-month absence here so others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (80/1 -220%) Milltown Lily |
80/1(-220%) | (10) Milltown Lily 80/1, Modest maiden handicapper on Flat and has shown little so far over hurdles. Remains without a win on the Flat and she hasn't offered much in three starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (12/1 -60%) Diamand De Vindecy |
12/1(-60%) | (6) Diamand De Vindecy 12/1, Fair performer on the level in France and over hurdles for current yard, back on track when third at Taunton last time and can't be fully dismissed. Best hurdles run when third at Taunton latest; a fair Flat winner in France so considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (50/1 -127%) Stony Man |
50/1(-127%) | (1) Stony Man 50/1, Sole success came in Bangor maiden (16.7f) in May 2022, and has failed to complete all 4 starts since, off 9 months prior to latest. Tried in cheekpieces. Has failed to complete on all four runs since landing 2m Bangor maiden hurdle in May 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YEALAND found only a rejuvenated rival too strong when thwarted in his bid to land a double at Newcastle. A 3lb rise for that performance looks more than workable and the five-year-old is fancied to regain the winning thread. Even though Seasett has yet to cut much ice in his hurdling career so far, Shark Hanlon's raider was a useful performer on the Flat and any market support for him would be interesting. Enemy At The Gate also makes some appeal now dropped in distance.
YEALAND is progressing and can get back to winning ways. St John's Road can improve herself now handicapping and looks a big player. Enemy At The Gate is another to be interested in for an in-form stable.
Jennie Candlish's improving Shirocco gelding YEALAND is taken to quickly resume winning ways after an excellent Newcastle 2nd last time

1st (2) (8/15 +21%) Rocheval |
8/15(+21%) | (2) Rocheval 8/15, Impressive winner of 8-runner Aintree bumper on debut in November and saw off same stablemate in decisive fashion on hurdles debut at Ayr (2m, soft) the following month. Type to go on improving for a good while yet on that evidence and he looks the one to beat again. Impressively landed Aintree bumper and Ayr juvenile; more to offer and the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/1 -47%) She's Notjoeking |
11/1(-47%) | (4) She's Notjoeking 11/1, Milan filly who is related to winners and made perfect start when taking 7-runner junior bumper at Newcastle (14.3f) in November. Not ideally placed when fifth back at that venue since (also still green) and she ought to have a future in this sphere. Winning start in Newcastle bumper; not discredited when fifth there since; much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +40%) Hill Spirit |
2/1(+40%) | (1) Hill Spirit 2/1, Fair form when making the frame in trio of bumpers and similar form when successful in junior hurdle at Ludlow (15.7f) in January. Jumped sketchily and couldn't match that level when fourth of 5 under a penalty at Chepstow next time but far too soon to be writing him off. Won at Ludlow; not disgraced when fourth at Chepstow in January; very much considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ROCHEVAL confirmed his promise in bumpers when running out a ready winner on his hurdling debut at Ayr in December. Lucinda Russell's gelding looks capable of defying a 7lb penalty and he can keep his unbeaten record intact. Hill Spirit may serve the most resistance to the selection if judged on his penultimate outing when scoring at Ludlow in early January. Kabuki will need to build on his fifth-placed timber bow at Newbury, but he could well do so.
Having run out an impressive winner on bumper debut, ROCHEVAL maintained his 100% record with an authoritative hurdles debut victory at Ayr in December, and with further progress expected he can make it 3-3. Hill Spirit may emerge as the chief threat if dispelling his Chepstow run.
Lucinda Russell's unbeaten Kapgarde gelding ROCHEVAL has created a favourable impression and gets a confident vote as he bids to go 3-3

1st (3) (10/3 -11%) William Of York |
10/3(-11%) | (3) William Of York 10/3, Progressive over hurdles for Dan Skelton and belatedly confirmed early chase promise for present yard when running out a dominant winner of 9-runner Doncaster handicap (19f, heavy) 2 weeks back. Cheekpieces worn then retained and respected despite 10 lb hike in weights. Cheekpieces on when opening his account in this sphere at Doncaster; not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +50%) Hello Judge |
2/1(+50%) | (5) Hello Judge 2/1, Winning hurdler who added a second chase victory to his tally at this course (20f) 17 days ago, able to dictate but getting the job done in determined fashion. Up just 1 lb for that so no reason why he won't make his presence felt again. Back to winning ways here latest; both chase successes have come at this track; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -120%) Choosethenews |
11/2(-120%) | (1) Choosethenews 11/2, Wide-margin winner on his sole outing in points and looked a useful prospect sent hurdling when making all at Ayr (21.4f) in December 2022. Shaped as if retaining ability in face of stiff task when behind Giovinco on return/chase debut at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and he could build on that now. Off 13 months off before beaten in match on Newcastle chasing debut; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -33%) Jacks Parrot |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Jacks Parrot 6/1, Bumper winner who displayed fair form over fences in France last year, in frame in 4-y-o events at Moulins and Auteuil at around 2¾m. Joined yard that do well with new recruits and interesting if the market speaks in his favour with cheekpieces refitted. Fairly useful chaser in France for Emmanuel Clayeux; interesting debutant for good yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/2 -13%) Teescomponentsyess |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Teescomponentsyess 9/2, Dual hurdles winner who produced a performance akin to his best in that sphere when ending losing run over fences at Gowran (20f, heavy) 3 weeks ago, asserting run-in. Comes here operating from 11 lb higher mark but respected nevertheless under Brian Hughes. Finally off the mark over fences at Gowran latest; up 11lb but firmly in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +20%) Poetry Man |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Poetry Man 20/1, Runner-up completed start in Irish points and best effort over hurdles when fourth in a Newcastle novice (16.9f, heavy) in January. Couldn't build on that for switch to handicaps on chase debut back there last month though and others make greater appeal. Made mistakes late on when 7th on chasing debut at Newcastle; not ruled out up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WILLIAM OF YORK proved a revelation in first-time cheekpieces when jumping with aplomb to open his account over fences at Doncaster. The handicapper has reacted by hiking him 10lb in the ratings, but there could be more to come from Rebecca Menzies' eight-year-old. Teescomponentsyess ran out a ready scorer at Gowran and he warrants respect in his current mood, as does dual course winner Hello Judge.
TEESCOMPONENTSYESS has been hit with an 11 lb rise for his chase victory at Gowran 3 weeks ago, yet he got the job done pretty comfortably and, with conditions in his favour, Shark Hanlon's charge looks a live player once more. Ex-French recruit Jacks Parrot is interesting on debut for a yard boasting an excellent strike rate in this sphere and along with Doncaster scorer William of York, heads up the dangers.
The vote goes to JACKS PARROT who has some fairly useful chasing form in France and can make a winning start for his excellent new yard

Expert Lady |
(6) (20/1 -67%)20/1(-67%) | (6) Expert Lady 20/1, Down the field in varied events on the Flat and just poor form completed starts over hurdles. Sizeable step forward required now handicapping. Poor form shown in two hurdling runs at Catterick before unseating early there last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (9/4 +63%) Blame Rose |
9/4(+63%) | (7) Blame Rose 9/4, Poor maiden who wasn't disgraced when fourth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Catterick (19.3f, good to soft) 79 days ago. Yet to get her head in front but she arrives in good nick; in the mix after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +29%) You Some Girl |
5/2(+29%) | (4) You Some Girl 5/2, Fair bumper winner who attracted support and was in the process of showing better form when falling 2 out on handicap debut at Sedgefield in November. Hasn't been able to reproduce that form since but can't be ruled out in a weak affair. Hood back on and also fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Yet to score in this sphere; below-par sixth at Sedgefield latest; tongue tied now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +8%) Asa |
11/4(+8%) | (5) Asa 11/4, Regressive maiden hurdler but still has to enter calculations having fallen such a long way in the weights. Has had a breathing operation since latest outing. Winless but not disgraced when 6th at Musselburgh in December; had wind op; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/1 -11%) Maggie O |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Maggie O 5/1, Irish point winner who got off the mark in this sphere on the back of a breathing op in 11-runner handicap at Doncaster (16.6f, good) in November. Too keen at Musselburgh and was beaten when falling at the final flight at Hereford last time. Needs to get back on track after a small break. Won at Doncaster in November but well held when falling last at Hereford last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (28/1 -600%) Princess Of Mercia |
28/1(-600%) | (2) Princess Of Mercia 28/1, Poor form at best in maiden/novice hurdles but may do better now handicapping at a low level. Blue Bresil mare who has hinted at promise in her three runs; interesting on h'cap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
As the only previous hurdles winner in the race, Maggie O is high on the shortlist from just 3lb higher than when she took a handicap at Doncaster back in November. River Robe also appeals on the pick of her Irish form and and is one to note in the betting on debut for the Max Young yard. However, BLAME ROSE showed improvement in both starts since having a wind operation and looks worth chancing given she is in receipt of plenty of weight from her main rivals.
YOU SOME GIRL has gone backwards following a promising start in handicaps, but this former fair bumper winner is worth one more chance now fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Asa and handicap-debutante Princess of Mercia are feared most in that order.
It could pay to side with Lucinda Russell's PRINCESS OF MERCIA who has shown some promise and could take a step forward now h'capping

1st (2) (9/4 +0%) One More Stroke |
9/4(+0%) | (2) One More Stroke 9/4, Promising sort who made a winning start over hurdles when taking 10-runner novice at Catterick (19.3f, soft) 43 days ago. Should progress and is one for the shortlist. Made winning hurdles debut at Catterick in January; more to offer; merits consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (22/1 -120%) Breizh River |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Breizh River 22/1, Fair in bumpers and ran to similar level on second start in this sphere when fourth of 8 in novice at Newcastle (16.9f, soft) 12 days ago. Each-way player. Good fourth in 2m1f Newcastle novice 12 days ago; he can take a step forward here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (7/1 +22%) Rioja Alta |
7/1(+22%) | (11) Rioja Alta 7/1, Fair maiden on Flat for Gavin Cromwell and showed aptitude for hurdling when third of 8 in novice (14/1) at Catterick (15.7f, soft) on NH debut 24 days ago. Entitled to build on that. Fair 1m4f Flat maiden; encouraging hurdling start when third at Catterick; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (80/1 -100%) That One |
80/1(-100%) | (8) That One 80/1, Given a considerate introduction when fifth of 10 in novice hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) on NH debut 29 days ago, finishing with running left. Likely to need more time, though. Encouraging fifth in novice at Sedgefield; this son of Dartmouth can build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (100/1 -52%) Dixie Cowboy |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Dixie Cowboy 100/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has made little impact in a couple of starts over timber. Looks a longer-term project. Maiden Irish pointer who has beaten one rival in a pair of 2m maiden hurdles this February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 +20%) Kingofthegame |
40/1(+20%) | (7) Kingofthegame 40/1, Finished third on the second of his 2 starts in Irish points and showed more than on hurdling debut when fourth at Newcastle last month. Will likely be seen in better light when sent handicapping, however. Built on hurdling debut when fourth at Newcastle three weeks ago; he may do better still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/1 -56%) Mister Moodles |
7/1(-56%) | (1) Mister Moodles 7/1, Made the frame both starts in bumpers last season and left hurdling debut form behind when landing a weak race at Doncaster (16.6f) in December. Progressed again when runner-up over same C&D latest and likely has more to offer yet. Won at Doncaster before excellent second there 15 days ago; very much one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (100/1 -300%) Vampire Slayer |
100/1(-300%) | (12) Vampire Slayer 100/1, Fair maiden on the Flat who is worth a check in the market on jumps debut. A fair 1m maiden on the Flat who now goes hurdling; he's no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (150/1 -50%) Clatterbridge |
150/1(-50%) | (4) Clatterbridge 150/1, Won a small-field Irish point in May 2022 but finished well held on hurdles bow at Doncaster last month. Winning pointer in 2022 but first run since when well-held seventh in Doncaster novice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (10/11 +9%) Highlands Legacy |
10/11(+9%) | (6) Highlands Legacy 10/11, Placed in a pair of bumpers earlier this term and made a promising start over hurdles when second of 12 in novice at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy) 19 days ago. Looks sure to progress and holds leading claims. Fairly useful form on hurdling debut when Wincanton 2nd; more to come so leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -100%) Wilder Days |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Wilder Days 200/1, Little impact in points/Tipperary bumper and no signs of improvement for new yard on hurdles debut here last month. Offered little in bumper for John O'Neill last May and for his new yard in C&D hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (200/1 -33%) Sky's Your Limit |
200/1(-33%) | (10) Sky's Your Limit 200/1, Well held in a trio of bumpers and showed nothing on hurdles bow at this course last month. Pulled up on her hurdling debut over 2m3f here last month; others are more persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HIGHLANDS LEGACY appears to be progressing nicely and having finished a commendable second despite being hampered two out at Wincanton on his hurdles debut last month, the Jonjo O'Neill-trained gelding is presented with a good chance of going one place better. One More Stroke is shortlisted under a penalty for his game defeat of one of the selection's stablemates at Catterick, while Doncaster winner Mister Moodles is another to have on side.
HIGHLANDS LEGACY made an encouraging start over timber last month and looks sure to appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. He can open his account. One More Stroke and Mister Moodles are also open to improvement and rate the principal dangers.
Jonjo O'Neill's son of Kayf Tara HIGHLANDS LEGACY made a promising hurdling debut second at Wincanton and looks very much the way to go

1st (7) (13/2 +74%) Uptown Harry |
13/2(+74%) | (7) Uptown Harry 13/2, Ridden positively and took full advantage of a drop in the weights when landing 9-runner class 2 handicap chase here (20f) a year ago. Yet to fire this season but took a bigger step back in the right direction when sixth over C&D last month and is potentially well handicapped. Course winner who hinted at a revival when C&D sixth last month; well in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +10%) O'connell |
9/4(+10%) | (3) O'connell 9/4, Winning Irish pointer who's getting the hang of things under Rules, off the mark in handicap chase at Market Rasen (heavy) before decent efforts in defeat since, runner-up to a subsequent winner at Leicester 6 weeks ago. Has some quirks but can resume winning ways back down in class. Won at Market Rasen and runner-up at Leicester latest; merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (20/1 -264%) Keep Wondering |
20/1(-264%) | (2) Keep Wondering 20/1, Not as good as he was though best effort for current yard when third over C&D last month. Needs to build on that but's back down in class. Winless since 2021 but best effort for current yard when C&D third latest; in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -7%) Shot Boii |
15/2(-7%) | (5) Shot Boii 15/2, Healthy strike rate over hurdles (4-14) and scored at the third attempt in this sphere at Hereford (25.2f, soft) in January. Lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Warwick next time but let down by jumping at Kempton since. Undone by a bad error when third at Kempton handicap last month; player off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (10/3 -67%) Concetto |
10/3(-67%) | (1) Concetto 10/3, Proved a totally different proposition sent chasing last season, scoring on handicap debut at Huntingdon before following up at Musselburgh. Form dipped after but bounced back to score at Market Rasen last month and that form looks solid. Back to winning ways at Market Rasen latest; up 5lb but he's not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/2 +42%) Five Dollar Fine |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Five Dollar Fine 7/2, Modest maiden hurdler and similar form over fences, good second over C&D last time. This tougher. Yet to register a victory but good second over C&D last time; one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/1 +0%) Hold The Note |
11/1(+0%) | (4) Hold The Note 11/1, Well held last 2 starts when last seen in the spring but returned to form from out of the blue to score over this C&D a year ago so not dismissed out of hand. Unreliable sort but this C&D scorer has won off a break so he can't be totally discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Concetto is 3-9 over fences and his reliability is persuasive in his bid to follow up last month's success at Market Rasen off just 5lb higher. However, O'CONNELL is a shade more intriguing. The Sue Smith-trained eight-year-old is suited by a right-handed circuit and, with underfoot conditions also ideal, he edges the vote, given this also represents a drop back down in class. Shot Boii and Five Dollar Fine complete the shortlist.
O'CONNELL might not be the heartiest of battlers but he's worth another chance to resume winning ways back down in class. Concetto bounced back with a solid win at Market Rasen so rates the main threat ahead of Uptown Harry, who's lurking on a dangerous mark.
David Pipe's likeable SHOT BOII (nap) is taken to get back on the up having been derailed by a bad error when third at Kempton last time

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
