1st (2) (11/2 -38%) Dr Rio |
11/2(-38%) | (2) Dr Rio 11/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in July. Good second of 9 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 5/1) 24 days ago. Another bold show could be on the way. Has a respectable record here; close second over C&D last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/1 -175%) Etretat |
11/1(-175%) | (3) Etretat 11/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in July. 10/3, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 19 days ago, faring best of those held up. 0-10 on turf and likely to find one or two too good once again. Ordinary 3yo; sole win came in 8.5f maiden handicap on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 +0%) Another Beautiful |
16/1(+0%) | (4) Another Beautiful 16/1, Creditable seventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 14/1) 63 days ago. Tongue strap back on and sports first-time cheekpieces. Needs to raise her game. Regressive maiden on AW; fitted with cheekpieces on turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (8/1 -45%) Dandy's Angel |
8/1(-45%) | (10) Dandy's Angel 8/1, Five-time C&D winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 11/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 6 days ago. Place possibilities. Five-time C&D winner; running respectably at present; on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 +46%) Love Yours |
13/2(+46%) | (6) Love Yours 13/2, C&D winner in July. 11/1, ninth of 10 in handicap back here (good to firm) 6 days ago. Others make more appeal. Narrow win over C&D in July; has failed to repeat that form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/2 -40%) Jez Bomb |
7/2(-40%) | (9) Jez Bomb 7/2, 9/4, career best when winning 5-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 15 days ago. Nudged up just 1 lb and he's a strong candidate. Record of 31241 since wearing cheekpieces; respected in the retained headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -9%) Just Hiss |
12/1(-9%) | (1) Just Hiss 12/1, Course winner. Sixth of 8 in handicap (28/1) at Chester (12.3f, soft) 10 days ago. Would have a serious chance if reproducing the form of his Nottingham near miss in July. Veteran who is 0-5 this term but went close at Nottingham in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (25/1 +0%) Panama City |
25/1(+0%) | (7) Panama City 25/1, Course winner. Last of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 25 days ago, hampered. Back up in trip and he needs to get back on track. Far from solid on his form this summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (5/1 +64%) Olympicus |
5/1(+64%) | (5) Olympicus 5/1, 3/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 24 days ago, doing too much too soon. Back up in trip and while he would be a big player if bouncing back to something like his best, others make more appeal on recent evidence. Hindered by often failing to settle; well treated granted a return to best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (11/1 -10%) Regency Boy |
11/1(-10%) | (8) Regency Boy 11/1, 9/2 and visored for 1st time, bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 70 days ago. Blinkers back on and he looks vulnerable for win purposes. Best handicap effort when neck second over C&D in June; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (50/1 -52%) Beguiling |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Beguiling 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good to firm) 44 days ago. Tongue strap and cheekpieces on 1st time. Best to look elsewhere. Combination of new trip and first-time headgear needs to help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Jez Bomb accounted for his nearest rival by half a length in this grade at Wolverhampton last time and he should mount a bold bid to complete the double. However, the vote goes to DR RIO, who took the silver medal home over track and trip last month and he is only 2lb higher for that neck defeat. Declan Carroll's eight-year-old might only need to reproduce that level of form in order to go one better. Etretat is another to note.
Raised just 1 lb for his recent success on the all-weather, JEZ BOMB looks the way to go. He is equally effective on turf, performing with credit on both previous visits here, and his credentials are rock-solid. An on-song Just Hiss would have a real chance off this mark, while the in-form Dr Rio is also likely to be in the thick of things.
The 4yo maiden REGENCY BOY has encouraging form this term and is taken to get off the mark. Dandy's Angel is second choice.

1st (6) (12/1 -50%) The Trickster |
12/1(-50%) | (6) The Trickster 12/1, Foaled May 10. €95,000 yearling, €150,000 2-y-o, Persian King colt. Half-brother to several winners, including Qatari 1m winner Es'hail and smart/temperamental 2-y-o 7f winner Syphax. One to note in the betting. 150,000euros (breeze-up) 2yo; Persian King half-brother to seven winners; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 +13%) Divine Legacy |
13/2(+13%) | (1) Divine Legacy 13/2, Twice-raced maiden. Fifth of 8 in novice at Thirsk (8f, good to firm, 6/1) 25 days ago. Open to improvement but some of these boast more pressing claims. Has shown signs of ability but needs improvement to get off the mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +50%) Rogue Diplomat |
7/1(+50%) | (4) Rogue Diplomat 7/1, Foaled May 8. €16,000 yearling, 115,000 gns 2-y-o, Calyx colt. Dam, unraced, closely related to useful winner up to 1¼m (stayed 1¾m) Almania out of smart 2-y-o 7f winner Sent From Heaven. 115,000gns 2yo; Calyx half-brother to a hurdle winner; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/4 +13%) Misty Memories |
7/4(+13%) | (2) Misty Memories 7/4, Once-raced maiden. Third of 10 in maiden (11/2) at Ffos Las (7.4f, soft) on debut 49 days ago, not knocked about. Open to improvement and he's a leading contender upped in trip here. Promising third in soft-ground maiden at Ffos Las seven weeks ago; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/4 +8%) Springbok |
11/4(+8%) | (5) Springbok 11/4, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, third of 9 in novice at York (7.9f, good to soft) 16 days ago. This represents a step down in class and he has to be respected. Has steadily progressive RPRs; ran well in stronger race at York most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -25%) Pendragon |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Pendragon 25/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 11 in novice at Kempton (7f, 125/1) 18 days ago. Like many from this yard, he may be seen in a better light switched to handicaps next year. Needs to improve on his Kempton AW efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (8/1 -167%) Caspi Star |
8/1(-167%) | (7) Caspi Star 8/1, Promising type. Sixth of 7 in novice at Goodwood (8f, soft, 9/2) on debut 31 days ago. That experience won't be wasted on her and better can be expected here. Only sixth of seven at Goodwood but may do better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Springbok is more experienced than his rivals in this contest and sets a fair standard with a rating of 76 after his third at York last time. He holds an obvious chance, but it may pay to side with MISTY MEMORIES, who showed plenty of ability to make the frame on his debut over an extended 7f at Ffos Las. The son of Kodiac shaped as though this step up in trip would suit and, with normal improvement, he looks the one to beat. The Trickster would be of interest on debut if the market speaks in his favour.
Though CASPI STAR failed to land a blow on her introduction in a Goodwood novice, the fact that she was well-backed ahead of that Class 2 event suggests that she has been showing the right signs at home. The Camelot filly is likely to prove a different proposition with that run under her belt. Misty Memories made an encouraging start to his career at Ffos Las and is second choice ahead of Springbok and newcomer The Trickster.
Provided his Ffos Las promise is confirmed, MISTY MEMORIES holds a leading chance. Springbok and The Trickster are respected.

1st (3) (5/4 +33%) Nala Star |
5/4(+33%) | (3) Nala Star 5/4, Fairly useful filly. Winner at Catterick in August. Good second of 12 in nursery at Bath (5f, good, 7/2) 10 days ago. Very much the one to beat. Went very close in recent Bath nursery and holds leading claims despite the 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (100/1 -203%) Genius Mistake |
100/1(-203%) | (11) Genius Mistake 100/1, Foaled May 4. 1,000 gns yearling, Land Force filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Haughty. Dam 1m winner out of useful 2-y-o 7f/1m winner Dignify. Doesn't have the look of a probable first-time-out winner on paper. Bolted before start and withdrawn from intended debut at Ripon last month (125-1 at time). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 -25%) Pearly Squirrel |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Pearly Squirrel 10/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventeenth of 20 in minor event (300/1) at Doncaster (6.5f, good) 12 days ago. Down in trip and tongue strap on 1st time. This is a more realistic assignment and she's open to improvement. Well beaten on both starts; had tough task last time but others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 +25%) Just King High |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Just King High 12/1, Foaled February 9. 45,000 gns yearling, Kodiac gelding. Dam maiden (stayed 6f) half-sister to US 5f/7f winner Big Handsome and winner up to 6f Frenetic (by Kodiac) (both smart). Wears tongue strap. Entitled to come on for the run. 45,000gns yearling; dam from talented family; one to watch in the betting on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 +72%) Fair Call |
9/2(+72%) | (8) Fair Call 9/2, Foaled January 31. Soldier's Call filly. Dam lightly-raced maiden half-sister to smart 6f winner Mobsta. Yard rarely strikes with 2-y-o newcomers but she's worth a market check all the same. Trainer has had a few 2yo newcomers run well at decent odds this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/4 +31%) Monetize |
11/4(+31%) | (6) Monetize 11/4, Twice-raced maiden. Third of 6 in novice (16/1) at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago. Likely to be on the premises once again. Third on both starts and she's a leading form player this afternoon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (33/1 -106%) Elouise's Prince |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Elouise's Prince 33/1, Foaled April 6. 8,500 gns yearling, Cotai Glory colt. Dam Italian winner up to 9f (2-y-o 5f-7f winner) from family of Warning and Commander In Chief. Yard newcomers typically come on for a run. 8,500gns yearling; dam Italian 7f-1m1f winner (RPR 81); perhaps best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (40/1 -150%) Coul Harswell |
40/1(-150%) | (10) Coul Harswell 40/1, Twice-raced maiden. 18/1, fifth of 6 in novice at Redcar (5f, good to firm) 7 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Hasn't shown enough on her first two starts to suggest she'll be winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (66/1 -371%) Bella Fortunata |
66/1(-371%) | (7) Bella Fortunata 66/1, Once-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 7/2) on debut 19 days ago, not knocked about. Probably more one for the longer-term. Always behind on debut but was well backed and represents powerful northern yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (50/1 -213%) Andalseeyagraham |
50/1(-213%) | (1) Andalseeyagraham 50/1, Foaled February 28. €62,000 yearling, Profitable gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 10.3f Sir Busker and unreliable 5f/6f winner Nag's Wag. Dam unraced. Worth a peek in the betting. Half-brother to Group 2 winner Sir Busker; trainer's 2yos usually need their debut outings. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MADDELINA caught the eye when finishing third on her debut at Carlisle earlier in the month and she should have learned a great deal from that experience. John and Sean Quinn's filly has plenty of scope for improvement and it would be no surprise to see her go in at the second time of asking. Nala Star filled the runner-up spot in a handicap at Bath last time and she has to be respected back in novice company. Of the remainder, Monetize makes the most appeal.
The vote goes to NALA STAR, who followed her Catterick maiden success with a near-miss in a Bath nursery 10 days ago. She looks rock-solid in the context of this race and is taken to see off Maddelina and Pearly Squirrel, both of whom are open to improvement. Monetize also has each-way claims.
Having been a promising third on her recent debut at Carlisle, MADDELINA earns the vote ahead of previous winner Nala Star.

1st (2) (4/1 -20%) Tees Spirit |
4/1(-20%) | (2) Tees Spirit 4/1, Useful gelding. Latest win at Sandown in July. 12/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, good to soft) 9 days ago, first home in group. Unfavourable terms but won on his only other start over C&D. Has something to find today but has won twice this year and may make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/15 +61%) Emaraaty Ana |
8/15(+61%) | (3) Emaraaty Ana 8/15, Smart gelding. 18/1, very good neck third of 7 to Democracy Dilemma in listed race at this C&D (good to firm) 24 days ago. Outstanding chance on these terms. Very close Listed third over C&D last month and he'll be tough to beat if reproducing that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 -50%) King Of Stars |
18/1(-50%) | (4) King Of Stars 18/1, Useful front runner with some good efforts here to his name but not been seen for 21 months. Absent since 2022 but showed some strong form that year and he could have a part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 -129%) Clarendon House |
4/1(-129%) | (1) Clarendon House 4/1, 11¼ lengths last of 7 to Democracy Dilemma in listed race (9/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 24 days ago, again very slowly away. Visor on 1st time. C&D winner in small-field event (also second in this in 2022). Problems at the start mean he's become an unreliable betting proposition. Below par on last three runs but key player if back on song in a first-time visor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
EMARAATY ANA arrives on the back of a fine third in the Listed Beverley Bullet and a repeat effort would make Jamie Osborne's sprinter difficult to beat. Clarendon House blew the start once again when finishing last of seven behind the selection, but a visor is applied today and he has every chance on these terms if the headgear has the desired effect. Tees Spirit is a useful handicapper on his day and is preferred to King Of Stars, who returns from a prolonged absence.
EMARAATY ANA went close in the Beverley Bullet over C&D 3 weeks ago and could be hard to beat if replicating that effort on these terms down in class. Clarendon House is the class rival but has been having real trouble at the start this season.
King Of Stars is interesting on his return but preference is for EMARAATY ANA, who was a close Listed third here last time.

2nd (6) (6/1 +45%) Sergeant Mayer |
6/1(+45%) | (6) Sergeant Mayer 6/1, Took a step forward when opening his account in 9-runner handicap at Nottingham (6.1f) last month. Tongue strap on for 1st time, respectable 2¼ lengths fifth of 11 to Blue Force in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 11/1) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Still seeking first win but has dropped to a career-low mark. 0-11 but very close fifth at Redcar last Tuesday; contender if reproducing that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/3 +39%) Musical Diva |
10/3(+39%) | (7) Musical Diva 10/3, Respectable third of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 3/1) 15 days ago. Can make presence felt again. Another good run in defeat when third on AW recently and could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (11/1 -22%) Stoneacre Girl |
11/1(-22%) | (10) Stoneacre Girl 11/1, Blinkered for 1st time, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f, good, 12/1) 28 days ago. Runner-up at Musselburgh last time and today's stiffer track should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (7/1 -27%) Northern Prince |
7/1(-27%) | (8) Northern Prince 7/1, Good third of 9 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good to firm, 9/2) 7 days ago. Eyeshields on 1st time. 0-12 but has run well more often than not in handicaps; he's one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (80/1 -60%) Sally Anne's Dream |
80/1(-60%) | (13) Sally Anne's Dream 80/1, 150/1, 3¼ lengths seventh of 11 to Blue Force in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 12 days ago. Not disgraced when mid-division at Newcastle recently but needs another step forward here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (15/2 -15%) Blue Force |
15/2(-15%) | (3) Blue Force 15/2, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap (10/1) at Newcastle (5f) 12 days ago. Claims if backing that up returned to turf with yard going better. Won at Newcastle (5f, AW) recently; has run just twice on turf (well beaten each time). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (10/3 +49%) Macarone |
10/3(+49%) | (2) Macarone 10/3, 11/2, creditable eighth of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Has dipped in the weights and is a player having won a C&D nursery. C&D nursery winner last August but he needs to better his recent performances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (80/1 -60%) Ninety Nine |
80/1(-60%) | (11) Ninety Nine 80/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (5f, good to firm, 50/1) 57 days ago. Runner-up in a C&D seller in May but has struggled in handicaps on her four starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (22/1 -38%) Louella |
22/1(-38%) | (9) Louella 22/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. Hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving Roger Fell & Sean Murray when ninth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 7/1) 12 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. On a handy mark but now 0-17 and needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (50/1 -213%) Sacred Melody |
50/1(-213%) | (1) Sacred Melody 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Off 4 months/first run since leaving Edward Lynam when 3½ lengths eighth of 11 to Blue Force in handicap (28/1) at Newcastle (5f) 12 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Didn't run badly on recent stable debut but others are more compelling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The penny seems to have dropped with the unexposed BLUE FORCE and he opened his account over the minimum trip at Newcastle earlier in the month. The son of Blue Point can effectively race off a 2lb lower mark today with his apprentice's allowance taken into account and another bold bid looks on the cards. Northern Prince is fitted with eye-shields after placing at Redcar and rates a threat, while Musical Diva will likely be thereabouts at the finish once again.
MACARONE has slipped in the weights and could be set to resume winning ways having scored in a nursery here last year. Marching Mac (declared to run at Wolverhampton on Monday), Musical Diva and Blue Force are other likely contenders.
The filly STONEACRE GIRL kept on for second at Musselburgh last time and can get off the mark with this stiffer track set to suit.

10/3(-33%) | (9) Captain Corelli 10/3, In excellent heart, getting the hat-trick up in 7-runner handicap at Redcar (8f, good to firm) 7 days ago, always holding on. This is tougher but he's unpenalised and is hard to dismiss in bid for 4-timer. Has won his last three and escapes a penalty for last Tuesday's victory at Redcar. |

2nd (4) (6/1 0%) Finbar's Lad |
6/1(0%) | (4) Finbar's Lad 6/1, 4/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago. That ended a good run of form. Often well found in the betting. Disappointing at Thirsk last time but went there on the back of two good placed efforts. |

3rd (2) (15/2 +53%) Enola Grey |
15/2(+53%) | (2) Enola Grey 15/2, Fifth of 7 in handicap (8/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 20 days ago. Others more persuasive. Good third over C&D in July but she's gone off the boil on her three outings since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 +25%) Youarenotforgiven |
9/2(+25%) | (1) Youarenotforgiven 9/2, Capitalised on his reduced mark at Leicester in July and not seen to best effect both starts since, denied a clear run when sixth of 14 at Newbury (8f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Needs things to drop right given his hold-up style. Won at Leicester in July and fair sixth of 14 at Newbury last time; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (5/2 +0%) Capital Guarantee |
5/2(+0%) | (7) Capital Guarantee 5/2, Gambled-on 11/4, creditable second of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good) 8 days ago, tanking along and doing too much too soon. Good chance if backing that up off the same mark back up in class. Runner-up off reduced mark at Thirsk last week and he's on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 -38%) Ugo Gregory |
11/1(-38%) | (5) Ugo Gregory 11/1, 4-time C&D winner. Below form sixth of 12 in handicap (20/1) at Carlisle (6.9f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Not won for a while but on a reduced mark and usually goes well here. A return to form is needed but he likes it here and has a good record in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (28/1 -40%) Legend Of Leros |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Legend Of Leros 28/1, 125/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap at Newbury (8f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Interesting from reduced mark if there's plenty of give in the ground. Form went the wrong way for Marco Botti and he's struggled on both outings for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The betting suggested CAPITAL GUARANTEE would bounce back to form at Thirsk and he duly finished a creditable second. David O'Meara's inmate looks primed to score off his current mark and is just preferred to Captain Corelli. The latter is upped in class bidding for a four-timer and escapes a penalty after winning an apprentices' race at Redcar last week, while Finbar's Lad merits a second glance on his third at York in July.
CAPITAL GUARANTEE strikes as a really well handicapped sort following last week's second at Thirsk when doing too much too soon having been well backed. He looks set for another big run off the same mark. Captain Corelli bids for a 4-timer and is unpenalised for his Redcar victory so has to be feared despite the rise in class, while Legend of Leros has dropped to a very tempting mark and would be interesting if the ground softens.
It is hard to look beyond CAPTAIN CORELLI (nap), who is on a four-timer and escapes a penalty for last Tuesday's win at Redcar.

1st (1) (11/4 +8%) It Just Takes Time |
11/4(+8%) | (1) It Just Takes Time 11/4, C&D winner. 12/1, respectable fourth of 18 in handicap at York (6f, soft) 16 days ago. In good form and strongly respected having first go over this trip in a while. Has returned to form over 6f the last twice and he won over C&D in 2022. |

2nd (4) (7/1 -8%) Princess Alex |
7/1(-8%) | (4) Princess Alex 7/1, Latest win here in May. 14/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago, slowly away and never landed a blow. Just 2 lb below that last successful mark now. One to consider. C&D winner who is edging back down the weights, but needs to raise her game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 +25%) Powdering |
9/1(+25%) | (2) Powdering 9/1, C&D winner in May. 25/1, last of 10 in handicap at Sandown (8f, good) 6 days ago, looking none too keen. Has rather lost her way after a fine spell in the spring. Won three in a row in May (two over C&D) but well beaten the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -100%) Paladin |
12/1(-100%) | (6) Paladin 12/1, Won at Haydock last summer over 7f. Off a year/gelded. Returns with yard among the winners. Won soft-ground 2yo novice last July; returns from a year off (gelded in interim). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/2 +29%) Magical Merlin |
5/2(+29%) | (3) Magical Merlin 5/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 10/1, good third of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good) 29 days ago. Should get a decent pace to aim at again and he's got strong claims back down in class. Has run some good races in defeat this season and every chance he'll be in the shake-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (8/1 +20%) Overlooked |
8/1(+20%) | (8) Overlooked 8/1, Fair maiden. Struggled in 3 runs earlier this year and has left Tom Dascombe. Drops in trip on first run for 123 days. Struggled in the spring but well treated on last year's 2yo form; has changed hands. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (18/1 -64%) Ravishing Beauty |
18/1(-64%) | (7) Ravishing Beauty 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1, first run since leaving Harry Charlton when sixth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 19 days ago. Her mark probably remains on the high side. Lightly raced 3yo who has shown promise and is not discounted on second stable start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (10/1 -54%) Harswell Duke |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Harswell Duke 10/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. Off 11 weeks, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, soft, 5/1) 26 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Could be much closer to his best form now. On a competitive mark on this season's best form; has done his winning on soft/heavy going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (28/1 -180%) Obee Jo |
28/1(-180%) | (9) Obee Jo 28/1, Latest win at Leicester in May. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good to soft, 17/2) 14 days ago. Squeezed out at start two weeks ago; just 2lb higher than when winning at Leicester in May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MAGICAL MERLIN certainly wasn't disgraced in a class 2 handicap over 1m at Chepstow last time and he looks to have a great chance now dropped in both class and trip. It Just Takes Time has been running well over 6f and the C&D scorer must enter calculations, while Princess Alex is no forlorn hope off just 2lb higher than when winning here in May.
IT JUST TAKES TIME won on his last run over C&D and arrives in good form having his first go over 7f for a while. He just gets the vote over Magical Merlin and Princess Alex in a competitive contest.
This can go to IT JUST TAKES TIME, who has run really well in defeat over 6f the last twice and won over C&D in 2022.

13/2(+7%) | (11) Inspiring Speeches 13/2, 10/3 and blinkered for first time, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.1f, good) 28 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Enters calculations. Back in the cheekpieces today, in which he twice went close last month; could be involved. |

3rd (9) (28/1 -133%) Jalaybee |
28/1(-133%) | (9) Jalaybee 28/1, 18/1, respectable second of 8 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Up in trip. Has work to do. 0-11 but stayed on for (well-beaten) second over 7f last time; this new trip is worth a go. |

4th (4) (16/1 -33%) Colorada Dancer |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Colorada Dancer 16/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Carlisle (7.8f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Given further respite by the assessor but has plenty to prove at present. Has dropped down the weights, but for good reason in view of this season's form. |

5th (1) (9/1 +36%) Stratocracy |
9/1(+36%) | (1) Stratocracy 9/1, Better than ever when winning at Ripon in August. Last of 4 in handicap (9/2) at Nottingham (10.2f, good) 35 days ago. May get back on track returned to this trip. Well beaten when upped to 1m2f at Nottingham last time but won at Ripon previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 -25%) Straight A |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Straight A 10/1, Too keen fitted with cheekpieces when fifth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 19 days ago, also carrying head a shade awkwardly. Eased 2 lb and headgear left off. Soundly beaten on first two starts for this yard but well treated when things click again. |

7th (12) (12/1 -50%) Oceanic Wonder |
12/1(-50%) | (12) Oceanic Wonder 12/1, Winner at Redcar in August. 7/2, 14 lengths sixth of 7 to Hardman in handicap at Musselburgh (8f, good to firm) 9 days ago, slowly away. Won at Redcar last month, then maybe didn't handle the track at Musselburgh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (11/2 -83%) Hardman |
11/2(-83%) | (8) Hardman 11/2, 9/4, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Musselburgh (8f, good to firm) 9 days ago, driven clear. Carries penalty but a major player in his quest for the hat-trick. Made it two in a row with easy win at Musselburgh; strong claims under a 6lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (80/1 -60%) Timely Chance |
80/1(-60%) | (13) Timely Chance 80/1, Last of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm, 66/1) 52 days ago. Up in trip. Hood on first time. Seven-race maiden who looks up against it unless the first-time hood prompts improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (9/2 +18%) Edvard Grieg |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Edvard Grieg 9/2, First run since leaving A. Slattery when excellent second of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, good) 35 days ago. Expected to be bang there from the same mark. Encouraging second behind well-handicapped winner on last month's stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (20/1 -25%) Ribble Radiant |
20/1(-25%) | (5) Ribble Radiant 20/1, Course winner. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (8f, good, 16/1) 8 days ago, though that effort wasn't devoid of promise. 0-7 since debut win here in June 2023, but she's back here for the first time since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (15/2 +46%) Made All |
15/2(+46%) | (10) Made All 15/2, Respectable seventh of 14 in handicap (16/1) at this C&D (good) 40 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. That was a sound return from a break. 0-8 with a patchy profile, but he went close in May and is not discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HARDMAN arrives here in top form, building on his gritty Chelmsford win when scoring impressively at Musselburgh nine days ago, and he is fancied to complete the hat-trick. Claxton Bay has been knocking on the door of late and he is likely to be in the shake-up once again, while Edvard Grieg also merits consideration following a pleasing stable debut for Dylan Cunha at Nottingham last month.
EDVARD GRIEG surpassed his Irish form at the first attempt for new connections when second at Nottingham a month ago and from the same mark, a very bold bid to go one place better is on the cards. Hardman chases a hat-trick so demands respect, with Claxton Bay also of interest.
The improving HARDMAN won in good style at Musselburgh recently and is taken to defy a 6lb penalty and complete a hat-trick.
Ths is the racecard key.
