A low draw combined with first-time cheekpieces could be a winning combination for TEES GEORGE in his bid to gain compensation for a handful of recent near misses. A close second on his only previous run at this course, the selection has scope to progress over this trip and another bold showing is expected, with Hollie Doyle an eye-catching jockey booking. Regency Boy tries a mile for the first time and can figure prominently if the drop in trip doesn't catch him out. Starshot and Clotherholme complete the shortlist.
STARSHOT hasn't been with his current yard long, was a shade better than the result last time and is now on a career-low mark, so he seemingly has plenty in his favour as long as stall 14 isn't an issue. Tees George and Have You A Minute are in-form rivals and need considering.
The presence of Hollie Doyle aboard a reasonably consistent TEES GEORGE is enough to sway the vote towards this 4yo.

4th (12) (12/1 -50%) Willolarupi |
12/1(-50%) | (12) Willolarupi 12/1, Opened his account over C&D in August and similar form having been raised 4 lb when fourth in a handicap back here 18 days ago. Another commanding respect from a handy draw. C&D win five weeks ago and he was a creditable fourth here last time; career best required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/2 +8%) Rock Of England |
11/2(+8%) | (4) Rock Of England 11/2, 11/2, respectable second of 16 in handicap at this C&D (good) 24 days ago, switched over 1f out and keeping on. Another likely to be in the mix from unchanged mark. Knocking at the door of late, second of 16 over C&D last month; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (7/2 +50%) Mattice |
7/2(+50%) | (10) Mattice 7/2, Won this race from a 1 lb higher mark 12 months ago and made a solid start to the present campaign, adding to his tally at Ripon (5f) in May. Recent efforts have been mixed but latest run can be overlooked and he's not one to write off. On a dangerous mark and there have been excuses of late; good draw; big run likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/1 -54%) Alligator Alley |
10/1(-54%) | (1) Alligator Alley 10/1, Put it all together under a change of tactics when ending losing run from the front at Thirsk (5f) in August. Run with credit in trio of starts since and likely he'll be thereabouts again having eased a little in the weights. Made all at Thirsk last month (5f, good); fair efforts since; well drawn to attack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 -87%) Good Point |
14/1(-87%) | (7) Good Point 14/1, Returned from a break with a respectable fourth in a big-field C&D handicap in August and easy to ignore his latest last of 9 in handicap at Catterick (5f) 8 days ago, not clear run from 2f out and not recover. Comes here fresher than most and stable in good form. Respected. His last two runs have offered more encouragement and he's interesting off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (50/1 -400%) Rodborough |
50/1(-400%) | (8) Rodborough 50/1, Largely campaigned on all-weather (all 3 career victories gained at Southwell) and he ran respectably when second of 4 in handicap at that venue in April. However, she still needs to prove herself as effective on turf. Progressive on AW in last 12 months but she's back from a break with more to prove on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (20/1 -25%) Ganesha |
20/1(-25%) | (5) Ganesha 20/1, 16/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Sandown (5f, good to firm) 18 days ago, weakening final 1f. Mark has eased a little more at least back on turf. Three wins as a 2yo; quiet this year (yard just 3-67 in 2024) but on a dangerous mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having been beaten just a half-length over C&D last time, GLORY HYDE appears likely to offer another bold bid. The three-year-old has been raised just 1lb for that narrow miss, which could prove lenient. Last-time-out winner Zarzyni is likely to pose the most significant questions to the selection, carrying a 4lb penalty for his head success over 5f at Musselburgh, while Alligator Alley is also likely to feature.
Typically competitive fare but MATTICE lines up 1 lb below the mark he was successful from in this race 12 months ago and could be worth chancing from a handy draw, with his latest run here easily overlooked. Alligator Alley is another to consider along with Glory Hyde. Zarzyni, who was a cosy winner at Musselburgh 3 days ago, is another in the mix for all his draw may make things tricky.
Competitive fare but Mattice and GOOD POINT (nap) can have their recent runs upgraded and they can fight this out.

3rd (8) (9/4 -20%) Ever Hopefull |
9/4(-20%) | (8) Ever Hopefull 9/4, Bated Breath filly who matched debut form whilst still looking in need of experience when third of 9 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good) 36 days ago. Remains with potential for leading stable and this step up in trip could well unlock improvement. Fair third over 8.3f on second start and pedigree suggests this longer trip can suit. |

4th (1) (17/2 -31%) Wiltshire Wonder |
17/2(-31%) | (1) Wiltshire Wonder 17/2, Bumper winner who has run to a fair level both starts in this sphere to date, the drop in trip looking against him when fourth of 6 in novice at Salisbury (9.9f, good to soft) 5 days ago. 100/1(-300%) | (2) Arc Zoosve 100/1, 1,000 gns yearling, Time Test gelding. Easy to back, didn't go with a great deal of immediate promise when third of 5 in novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on debut 11 days ago. Likely type for handicaps later on. Showed some ability on recent debut at Wolverhampton but others have much stronger form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Roger Varian-trained FOX AVATAR kept on for a promising third on last month's debut over 1m at Salisbury and can come out on top.

5th (11) (9/1 -80%) Dandy's Angel |
9/1(-80%) | (11) Dandy's Angel 9/1, 5-time C&D winner, including in this 12 months ago. Posted a solid third of 7 in handicap (5/1) at Hamilton (11.1f, soft) 14 days ago, needing stronger gallop, so she merits serious consideration back here. Five-time course winner who has been in good form elsewhere lately; one to consider. |

6th (4) (5/1 +29%) Bearwith |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Bearwith 5/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm, 3/1) 22 days ago, very slowly away. Can make presence felt if shrugging off latest effort. Did well to finish sixth of eight at Ripon last time having been very slowly away. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (66/1 -230%) Global Resolve |
66/1(-230%) | (7) Global Resolve 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 8 in novice at Lingfield (7f, good to firm, 50/1) 44 days ago, reportedly losing action after stumbling. Significantly back up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Must improve. 4yo who has shown some ability but improvement is needed to defy his opening mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Twin Earth has few miles on the clock and may benefit from the addition of first-time cheekpieces, while the less-exposed Skinny Malinka has shown promise in novice/maiden events and, now pitched into handicaps, he could go well. However, a chance is taken on last year's winner DANDY'S ANGEL. There have been signs of a revival from John Wainwright's mare recently and given that she is now 8lb below that winning mark, the daughter of Dandy Man might provide some value.
Last year's victor DANDY'S ANGEL wasn't seen to maximum effect when third at Hamilton last time so this course specialist gets the nod off a 1 lb lower mark in a very open handicap. The reliable Inappropriate is weighted to go close and next on the list ahead of handicap debutant Skinny Malinka. Bearwith completes the shortlist.
The five-time course winner DANDY'S ANGEL has been in good form elsewhere on her last three starts and gets the nod.
Ths is the racecard key.
