40/1(+0%) | (7) Purple Lady 40/1, After 11 months off, showed more than first time up when fourth of 8 in minor event at Southwell (8.1f, 80/1) 8 days ago. Can come on for that run but much more required. Off 11 months but good fourth in Southwell novice eight days ago; she may do better still. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ROWAYEH displayed plenty of promise on her return to action at Newmarket a month ago and the daughter of Dubawi could be hard to beat with the benefit of that outing. Rajindri made the frame in both starts as a juvenile and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Astral Spirit and Storymaker are others who merit places on the shortlist.
Having shaped well when runner-up on debut, RAJINDRI was left poorly placed when third at Wolverhampton next time and she remains open to improvement with this extra furlong to suit. She is taken to see off the challenge of Rowayeh who stepped up on her debut form on her return, while Astral Spirit should also have more to offer.
Marginal preference is for ASTRAL SPIRIT, ahead of Rowayeh.

100/1(-25%) | (11) Just Like Tonto 100/1, Very green when eighth of 12 in maiden at this C&D (soft, 125/1) on debut 15 days ago. Likely to need more time. Very green when eighth over C&D on her debut 15 days ago; significantly more is required. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BOMBAY BAZAAR was not disgraced on his debut at Thirsk a few weeks ago and the experience that he gained on that occasion could prove to be vital here. Politico is a noteworthy newcomer being the first foal out of a mare who won a Listed race in the May of her juvenile season, while Crack The Kode and Cuban Secret are others to note.
BOMBAY BAZAAR shaped very well amidst greenness when third at Thirsk on debut, beaten only by a pair with prior experience, so he looks the one to beat with that first run behind him. Newcomers could pose the biggest threat to the selection, with Politico one to note along with Crack The Kode.
Richard Fahey's Kodiac colt BOMBAY BAZAAR shaped very well when a clear third at Thirsk and rates a confident choice to go in here.

7th (4) (6.5/1 -86%) Silks Graphite |
6.5/1(-86%) | (4) Silks Graphite 6.5/1, Followed good run with a below-par one when fourth of 6 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, heavy, 4/1) 14 days ago. Merits consideration with blinkers on 1st time. May bounce back with blinkers added; penultimate effort puts him in the picture. |

28/1(-40%) | (10) Mystical Dreams 28/1, Struggling for form since her first start of the year, eighth of 9 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, soft, 11/2) 42 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Arrives on back of poor efforts in 5f h'caps at Newcastle/Thirsk; blinkers go on now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A mark of 70 probably flatters MONTELUSA but he rarely runs poorly and may well prove to be a cut above these rivals now switched to selling company. Silks Graphite appears to be the main danger based on his second-placed finish over 6f at Yarmouth two starts ago. The rest all have questions to answer but Insolente is the pick of them.
MONTELUSA proved consistent last year and, having finished runner-up on his second outing of the current campaign, he could be ready to get off the mark this time around. Tim Easterby's colt sets the standard in this contest, though Silks Graphite could bounce back in first-time blinkers and is feared most, ahead of Insolente.
This looks a great opportunity for MONTELUSA to gain a breakthrough win dropped into selling grade after a run of solid efforts.

4.5/1(+47%) | (5) Majeski Man 4.5/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Went backwards from his previous outing when seventh of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 11/1) 28 days ago. Capable of getting involved if on a going day. Both wins at 6f but fair run over 5f last month; not ideally drawn; others appeal more. |

3.33/1(+33%) | (9) Gustav Graves 3.33/1, Continued in good heart when second of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (5f, good, 3/1) 9 days ago. Can make his presence felt once again. Comes into the reckoning after his good second at Hamilton last time (5f, good to soft).. |

3rd (4) (3.5/1 +0%) The Dunkirk Lads |
3.5/1(+0%) | (4) The Dunkirk Lads 3.5/1, Dropped back in trip returned to turf, back to form when winning 8-runner handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 18/1) 19 days ago. Remains on a workable mark and can give another another good account. C&D winner from high draw last time; chance off 4lb higher from better draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (8.5/1 -13%) High Security |
8.5/1(-13%) | (7) High Security 8.5/1, Hasn't gone on from his reappearance effort, below form when third of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 8/1) 11 days ago. However, he won and placed twice from his 3 starts at this C&D last season. C&D winner last August; just fair efforts this time; a possible from good draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (18/1 -80%) Ramiro |
18/1(-80%) | (6) Ramiro 18/1, After 10 months off and with hood on for 1st time, denied a clear run from over 1f out when fifth of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, heavy, 20/1) 24 days ago. Task is now to build on his latest effort. Ex-Irish; below par in 2022 but encouraging run at Thirsk last time; well treated; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (8.5/1 -6%) Sound Reason |
8.5/1(-6%) | (1) Sound Reason 8.5/1, C&D winner. Still looked rusty when seventh of 10 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to soft, 12/1) 16 days ago. Back down in class, but needs to find more to be able to take advantage. Habitual slow starter; 5f winner off 5lb higher last May; yet to hit top form this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (6/1 +57%) Hey Mr |
6/1(+57%) | (8) Hey Mr 6/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2020. 80/1, never on terms when ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 33 days ago. Others preferred. Poor strike-rate; only win came off 17lb higher in 2020 (5f, soft); others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/1 -56%) King Of Tonga |
7/1(-56%) | (2) King Of Tonga 7/1, Stepped up on his reappearance when fourth of 10 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to soft, 18/1) 16 days ago. Major player having now dropped to 1 lb below his last winning mark. Well handicapped and creditable fourth at Wetherby last time; one to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Dunkirk Lads relished the step back to this minimum trip when landing the spoils at this venue last time out and the four-year-old warrants the utmost respect. This demands considerably more off 4lb higher, though, and a chance is taken on KING OF TONGA, who gave a good account of himself when fourth in deeper waters on his latest outing. The son of Dark Angel now sits 1lb below his last winning mark and gets the tentative nod. Sound Reason is another to consider.
KING OF TONGA ran better than on his return when making the frame at Wetherby 16 days ago and he can take advantage of this drop back in grade to return to winning ways. The main danger could be The Dunkirk Lads, who remains on a workable mark following his C&D success last time, while Gustav Graves also merits consideration.
The ex-Irish RAMIRO has started the season on a good mark and following a good reappearance run is taken to beat King Of Tonga.

1st (12) (16/1 -33%) Bulleit |
16/1(-33%) | (12) Bulleit 16/1, Shaped as if needing the run after 6 months off when fourth of 6 in handicap at Yarmouth (8f, soft, 11/1) 21 days ago, weakening final 1f. Better expected with that under his belt. Off 6 months before creditable Yarmouth 4th; he can take a step forward here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (4.5/1 +0%) Broctune Red |
4.5/1(+0%) | (9) Broctune Red 4.5/1, C&D winner who capitalised on a falling mark in emphatic fashion at Newcastle in April and ran at least as well in defeat under a penalty there (8f) 10 days later, albeit better placed than most. Just as effective on turf and can give another good account. Won at Newcastle before good 2nd there latest; C&D winner is firmly in the picture. |

3rd (7) (7/1 +50%) Alibaba |
7/1(+50%) | (7) Alibaba 7/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2020 and well below form both starts back from a long absence this year. On the upside, his mark continues to ease. Hinted at revival (2nd run back after 20 months off) when fifth at Nottingham; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4.5/1 +36%) Ugo Gregory |
4.5/1(+36%) | (5) Ugo Gregory 4.5/1, Course winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2021 but showed the benefit of his reappearance in going down to only a thriving rival in 7-runner handicap over C&D (soft) 15 days ago, pair clear. Must enter calculations but stall 12 doesn't make things easy. Course winner; very good C&D 2nd latest (form franked) so he merits serious consideration. |

5th (8) (28/1 -40%) Kalahari Prince |
28/1(-40%) | (8) Kalahari Prince 28/1, Visored for 1st time, sixth of 8 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to firm, 13/2) 12 days ago. Blinkers on for 1st time and more needed judged on this season's form. Visored and best run for current yard when Ayr 6th latest; no forlorn hope in blinkers. |

7th (10) (6/1 -50%) Jazz Samba |
6/1(-50%) | (10) Jazz Samba 6/1, Left her 2-y-o efforts behind after 9 months off when winning 7-runner handicap at this course (7.4f, soft) 15 days ago, pushed out. Merits respect in her follow-up bid. Much improved with breakthrough win over 7.5f here on seasonal debut; big player. |

3.5/1(+56%) | (6) Simulation Theory 3.5/1, Unreliable sort who shaped as if retaining all his ability after 7 months off third of 10 in handicap at Leicester (10f, heavy) 17 days ago. Scored twice last season; resumed with creditable Leicester 3rd; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 -14%) Under Fox |
16/1(-14%) | (4) Under Fox 16/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 16/1). Off 120 days and needs to bounce back to form. Fair 1m winner for Tim Easterby in 2022 but yet to fire in three runs for his current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (25/1 -25%) Captain Corelli |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Captain Corelli 25/1, C&D winner who was below form at Newcastle on his final outing in November. Bounce back called for on this return to action. C&D winner but off since beating only one at Newcastle in November; has gone well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (16/1 -14%) Antagonize |
16/1(-14%) | (11) Antagonize 16/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2021 but was unsuited by conditions when well held at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 34 days ago. Now below last winning mark and not dismissed under a change of rider. Yet to fire in 2 runs this spring but C&D winner is slipping in weights; not discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In this competitive contest, marginal preference goes to UGO GREGORY, who gave a good account of himself when runner-up over course and distance off 2lb lower last time out. Despite being short of room two furlongs out, the seven-year-old was only denied by a neck and may go one better today. Jazz Samba shed the maiden tag at this venue on her latest outing and rates the most immediate danger despite a 4lb rise for that success, while Broctune Red is another to consider.
BROCTUNE RED appears back at the top of his game and is just as effective on turf as all-weather, so another bold bid looks on the cards. Jazz Samba improved to get off the mark here on her return and a 4 lb rise seems fair, while Ugo Gregory was unlucky to bump into a big improver over C&D last time.
Low-mileage 4yo JAZZ SAMBA (nap) returned an improved model when going in here last time and can make light of a 4lb rise.

Eagle Prince showed the benefit of a wind operation when winning at Newcastle and if he improves for that seasonal debut he could be a player here off 4lb higher. The lightly-raced Tiamat is another to consider for a yard who have been flying in recent weeks and she could also get involved, but a chance is taken on SERENGETI SUNSET. The son of Roaring Lion pulled too hard over the Yarmouth mile on his return but may settle better now and it is noted that connections send him into a handicap as opposed to continuing in maiden company.
SERENGETI SUNSET is a good looker who is bred to be better than a mark of 73, so he might well build on his encouraging return at Yarmouth and make a successful start to handicaps. Last-time-out winner Roll It In Glitter is a danger and Orchestra is worthy of respect.
Plenty are in with a shout but SERENGETI SUNSET looks to start life in handicaps on a very workable mark and gets the vote.

40/1(-100%) | (2) Monophonic 40/1, Cheekpieces on for first time, first run since leaving G. M. Lyons when eleventh of 14 in handicap (25/1) at Bath (8f, soft) 39 days ago. Blinkers back on and she needs to leave that low-key stable debut behind. Promise at up to 10.5f in Ireland, but well beaten on stable debut; longer trip a concern. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
With a lack of winning form to work, with it may pay to side with PHILOS, who ran too freely when tried in blinkers over further at Southwell, but has some acceptable placed form to his name this season. If he fails to give his true running then Edwina Sheeran may be the one to step up, assuming she can repeat her Thirsk second off 1lb lower last month, while both Book Of Tales and Kilcummin could also have a say.
BOOK OF TALES has failed to meet market expectations on his last 2 runs but it's still early days and this looks a good opportunity for him back on turf. Philos might not be totally straightforward but can be a factor at this level, with Edwina Sheeran completing the shortlist.
In a modest contest BOOK OF TALES is taken to get off the mark with Edwina Sheeran and American Oak the main threats.
Ths is the racecard key.
