(7) Mrembo 5/1, Course winner. Latest win at Newbury in June. Sixth of 7 in handicap at that course (10f, good, 11/2) 13 days ago. Not without each-way hope.
Running creditably under Olivia Tubb until a poor show (good to soft) 13 days ago.

9/1(-13%)
(6) Black Smoke 9/1, 16/1, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, heavy) on debut for Brian Barr 26 days ago. Starts out for another new yard here and possibilities up just 2 lb, provided he proves equally effective on this faster surface.
Off the mark on sole run for Brian Barr, getting up close home at Lingfield (1m2f, soft).

(2) Charlie Arthur 3.33/1, Respectable second of 10 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm, 4/1) 18 days ago, no match for winner. Very much of interest off the same mark here.
Below best this year but placed nevertheless at Newbury and Windsor on last two outings.

(1) This Ones For Fred 3.5/1, Two wins from 6 runs this year. Didn't need to improve to win 7-runner handicap (9/2) at Catterick (12.1f, good) 23 days ago, just holding on. More needed in order to complete the hat-trick but, nudged up just 1 lb, he has to enter calculations.
On a hat-trick; latest win was by a short head but he is respected as an in-form candidate.

(3) Defence Treaty 20/1, Latest win at Southwell in February. 5/1, last of 8 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good) 22 days ago. Opposable on the back of that low-key display.
Ended losing sequence in February (1m3f, AW); tailed off latest start, after 102 days off.

(8) Hot Team 7.5/1, Latest win at Hamilton in May. 4/1, respectable second of 5 in handicap at Haydock (10.2f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Solid form chance but not certain to be suited by this step back up in trip.
Beaten under 2l on last four starts, all 1m1f/1m2f; this trip could be a problem, though.
9
7th (9) Uther Pendragon (14/1 -27%)
Uther Pendragon

14/1(-27%)
(9) Uther Pendragon 14/1, C&D winner in July, which was his third success at this venue. Good fourth of 13 in handicap, again here (good, 12/1), 27 days ago and he shouldn't be far away.
None too consistent but his last three C&D appearances included a win and close fourth.
10
8th (10) Princess T (4/1 +67%)
Princess T

4/1(+67%)
(10) Princess T 4/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap (11/2) at this C&D (good to soft) 36 days ago. Bit to prove on the back of that poor showing but she's on a competitive mark and could have a say if responding well to the first-time visor.
No Flat win in Britain; wore cheekpieces since October 2020 but now tries a visor.

9th (4) Alghazaal (66/1 +0%)

(4) Alghazaal 66/1, 66/1 and hooded for 1st time, last of 11 in handicap at Salisbury (14.2f, good) 21 days ago. Best to look elsewhere.
Beaten more than 30l in his two starts back on Flat for new yard.

14:30 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

THIS ONES FOR FRED battled on gamely at Catterick to record his second success in as many starts and David Evans' in-form five-year-old can land the hat-trick from just 1lb higher. Black Smoke, who won on soft ground at Lingfield last time, ought to be thereabouts if handling forecast conditions. Hot Team continues to run well in defeat and is considered along with Charlie Arthur, who is edging back towards the winner's enclosure.

The vote goes to CHARLIE ARTHUR, who produced his best effort of the season so far when hitting the crossbar at Windsor recently and he remains 1 lb below his last winning mark. If Black Smoke is able to back up his heavy-ground Lingfield success under contrasting conditions here he will be a threat, while the hat-trick seeking This Ones For Fred, Princess T and Uther Pendragon all make some appeal in this open-looking affair. Hot Team has been in good form of late but appears to be best at 1¼m.

Having given easily his most competitive display to win on his British debut, BLACK SMOKE may be able to find more improvement.
