13:40 Bangor-on-dee Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NOT NOW NATHANIEL showed a decent level of ability in bumpers, and she made no mistake when bolting up on her hurdles bow at Aintree last month. Donald McCain's filly must shoulder a 7lb penalty, but that might not stop her from following up with improvement forthcoming. Chantico achieved a peak rating of 84 when trained on the Flat and he's of obvious interest now sent over timber, while Upagainstit is also noted.

NOT NOW NATHANIEL has an ungainly way of going about things, but this is a decidedly ordinary maiden, so it looks a good opportunity for her to follow up from Aintree. Chantico is a notably interesting hurdling debutant in the context of the race and, providing he settles (can take a keen hold), should prove a big threat to the selection.

Donald McCain's filly NOT NOW NATHANIEL made a pleasing start to her hurdling career last month and looks the one to beat.

14:15 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A wide-margin winner at Hereford in October, it was a similar story for CAN'T BEAT HISTORY when he defied a 9lb rise at the same track on his seasonal reappearance last month. Henry Oliver's gelding has a further 8lb hike to contend with, but the low-mileage chaser could have more in the locker and is preferred to Getaway Glory. Aquila Sky finished a creditable third at Chepstow in April and he could find some improvement for the addition of first-time cheekpieces.

CAN'T BEAT HISTORY looks a chaser firmly on the up judged on the manner of his stylish reappearance win at Hereford a month ago and on that evidence, his revised mark is well within reach. No Tackle and Getaway Glory head the opposition.

The pick is NO TACKLE, who raced quite wide when third at Newton Abbot last month but still managed to challenge in the home straight.

14:50 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

COLLINGHAM was said to have benefitted from a return to quicker conditions when winning at Ludlow last month, so it wasn't a huge surprise when he was able to follow up over C&D 11 days ago. Given that he was able to score off a mark of 121 in February last year, the six-year-old appears to hold every chance of completing his hat-trick with conditions ideal. Feel The Pinch and Lunar Sovereign are others to consider.

LUNAR SOVEREIGN should prove suited by the return to 2m and is worth siding with to bring to an end the winning run of Collingham. Feel The Pinch is also shortlisted after his back-to-form second over C&D last month.

Mel Rowley's MAXCEL shaped well in April, after a long absence, and can hopefully begin to make up for lost time.

15:25 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

After two second-placed finishes, IN THIS WORLD can make it third-time lucky over fences and could very easily kick on throughout the summer months. Grain D'oudairies is capable in this discipline and warrants serious thought despite letting favourite backers down when he failed to make all over this C&D last time out. Assuming he settles better, the Donald McCain-trained gelding can give the selection most to think about, ahead of last-time-out winners Legendary Day and Breizh River.

IN THIS WORLD has made a promising start to chasing and can go one better than his recent Southwell second now to open his account. Breizh River rates a big threat on the back of his Hexham victory with in-form trio Garde des Champs, Legendary Day and Grain d'Oudairies also in the mix in an intriguing handicap.

The suggestion is IN THIS WORLD, who went close in consecutive chases last month and is probably still on a workable mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The in-form Dan Skelton is a force to be reckoned with at any time of the year, but CLARAROSE epitomises the majority of the trainer's summer jumpers in that she is open to any amount of improvement. She appears to have been well placed to back up her Warwick romp, despite an 8lb higher mark. Regal And Royal, a comfortable winner over this C&D last month, is feared most ahead of Silverbridge.

An 8 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop CLARAROSE with further progress likely on the back of her Warwick success. Regal And Royal should also have more to offer after his C&D handicap success 3 weeks ago and looks the obvious danger.

Regal And Royal is much respected but CLARAROSE (nap) impressed at Warwick and can cope with an 8lb rise in the weights.

(2) Nowinittowinit 10/1, Left previous form well behind when causing an 80/1 upset in Perth maiden (20.2f) last April. Followed up in 3-runner handicap there the following month but both efforts over the winter left a bit to be desired. Hopes pinned on fences sparking a revival after 6 months off.
Ended 2023 with two poor runs; makes chasing debut after a break; cheekpieces added.

(5) Fancy Stuff 13/8, Bumper winner who failed to progress over jumps for Dan Skelton. However, she'd dropped to an eye-catching mark given the pick of hurdles form and got off the mark with plenty in hand over fences at Stratford (19.4f, good) last month by 8½ lengths from The Gambler. Up 8 lb but can go in again.
Looked back in good nick when winning comfortably at Stratford last month; good chance.

(3) Gentle Connections 6/1, Four-time winner over hurdles in first half of 2022 but she has struggled since, including both starts over the larger obstacles when last seen 13 months ago. Potentially a dangerous runner from this much-reduced mark on return with her yard flying.
Lightly raced and disappointing since winning four in a row over hurdles in 2022.

Still has low mileage but was safely held on recent chasing debut; improvement required.

Triple chase winner; no longer the force of old but very well handicapped now.

Must build on that.

16:35 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FANCY STUFF beat The Gambler (second) by over eight lengths in this grade over an extended 2m3f at Stratford last month, and she is 8lb higher for that triumph. The daughter of Presenting looks well placed to confirm that form and record a double. Gentle Connections was last seen finishing last of four in a class 4 event at Warwick, but she returns off a 7lb lower mark and has to be considered for the in-form Dan Skelton yard.

FANCY STUFF landed a few tidy bets when bolting up at Stratford just under 3 weeks ago and an 8 lb rise may not be enough to prevent her from going in again. She gets the nod ahead of chasing-debutante Emily's Choice, who won her first couple of starts over hurdles and can have a line put through her handicap debut at Uttoxeter 9 weeks ago (lost a shoe). Admiral's Sunset can edge out Rory's Story for third place.

The one with by far the least to prove is FANCY STUFF, who rewarded solid market support with an emphatic win at Stratford last month.

17:10 Bangor-on-dee NH Flat Race (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BOLD RECRUIT shaped with bundles of promise when hitting the crossbar on his Rules debut at Southwell last month and he would have learned a great deal from that experience. The five-year-old can find enough improvement to get off the mark, with his main threat possibly being Little Big Kev, who wasn't disgraced in fourth at Stratford and should give another good account. Any market support for Fan Magnet with Brian Hughes booked would be interesting.

LITTLE BIG KEV has marginally the best form and wasn't seen to best effect at Stratford last time, so he's capable of opening his account at the third go under Rules. Gwennie May Star is a danger with improvement on the cards and Fan Magnet looks an appealing newcomer.

This doesn't look a strong bumper and GWENNIE MAY STAR showed enough in a much deeper one at Newbury to earn the vote.
