1st (1) (11/8 +31%) Miss Roberts |
11/8(+31%) | (1) Miss Roberts 11/8, Lightly-raced maiden. 2/1, bit below form second of 7 in minor event at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Should be on the premises, provided she goes on the ground (all starts to date on good/good to firm). Has gone close in both nurseries; bang there if conditions suit (unraced on slow ground). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/2 +50%) Buttercross Flyer |
7/2(+50%) | (6) Buttercross Flyer 7/2, Winner at Newcastle in August. 15/2, creditable fourth of 12 in nursery at Southwell (7.1f) 9 days ago. Unraced on ground slower than good but will be a threat if conditions don't pose a problem. Has to transfer AW improvement back to turf but there has been promise on grass; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -129%) Lunar Streets |
4/1(-129%) | (3) Lunar Streets 4/1, Promising type. 1 win from 2 runs this year. 9/4, second of 8 in minor event at Carlisle (5.8f, good) 21 days ago, running on. Likely she has more to offer now stepping up in trip and into handicap company. Promise over 6f on first two starts & open to improvement now up in trip on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (14/1 -40%) Roman Secret |
14/1(-40%) | (5) Roman Secret 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 20/1, sixth of 8 in minor event at Southwell (7.1f) 25 days ago. Needs to take a sizeable step forward now handicapping. Flopped on AW latest but promise on turf previously; could bounce back on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/1 +8%) Never Fear |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Never Fear 11/1, Thrice-raced winner. Successful at Wolverhampton in May. 5/1, fifth of 8 in minor event at Newcastle (6f) 85 days ago. Needs to get back on track now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Underwhelming on both starts since her winning debut but the break may have helped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (7/1 -8%) Elinor Dashwood |
7/1(-8%) | (2) Elinor Dashwood 7/1, Lightly-raced winner. Successful at Haydock in July. Fourth of 5 in minor event (15/2) at Chester (6.1f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Improvement needed now pitched into a handicap. Haydock 6f maiden winner who is worth a go at this trip and is not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ELINOR DASHWOOD ran as well as expected when finishing fourth in a race full of progressive types at Chester earlier this month and may be able to regain the winning thread on her nursery debut. The twice-raced Lunar Streets also enters handicaps off what looks a workable mark and Ed Dunlop's filly may give the selection most to think about, although Miss Roberts arrives in good heart.
This is probably best left to LUNAR STREETS, who landed a soft-ground Leicester maiden on debut last month prior to finishing second under a penalty at Carlisle where she didn't enjoy the best of runs. She is likely to benefit from this step up in trip and has been handed what looks a very fair opening mark. Buttercross Flyer and Miss Roberts can fill the places.
The step up in trip looks to be the right move for LUNAR STREETS and she is taken to make a winning nursery debut.

1st (4) (5/2 +25%) Flaccianello |
5/2(+25%) | (4) Flaccianello 5/2, Lightly-raced winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. 33/1, respectable fifth of 17 in minor event at Doncaster (6.5f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Not dismissed. 1-1 in nurseries and ran well in sales race last week; could be better than current mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +50%) Two Tribes |
4/1(+50%) | (2) Two Tribes 4/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Sandown in August. Good second of 5 in nursery at Chelmsford City (5f, 6/4) 20 days ago. Boasts a progressive profile. Solid 5f nursery form and every chance he'll be fine now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 +33%) Love Billy Boy |
4/1(+33%) | (3) Love Billy Boy 4/1, Winner at Musselburgh in April. Creditable third of 9 in minor event (4/5) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 16 days ago. Makes nursery debut. Worthy of respect. Third in sales race at York last month and firmly in calculations on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 +39%) Sergeant Wilko |
20/1(+39%) | (5) Sergeant Wilko 20/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Thirsk in April. 11/1, 15½ lengths last of 7 to Kylian in listed race at Sandown (5f, good) 77 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Needs to bounce back. Early promise; back down in grade here but has to leave summer Listed defeats well behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (13/2 +19%) Bill's Baar |
13/2(+19%) | (10) Bill's Baar 13/2, Won 6-runner maiden (11/4) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Makes handicap debut. One to consider. Slow-starter but won Ripon maiden recently and could continue to progress; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (10/3 +17%) Media Shooter |
10/3(+17%) | (8) Media Shooter 10/3, Thrice-raced winner. Sixth of 22 in minor event (40/1) at York (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Makes nursery debut. Sixth of 22 in sales race at York last month and has potential off his opening mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
In what looks a closely-matched contest, a chance is taken on MEDIA SHOOTER, who was sixth in a valuable sales race at York but is 4lb better off with the reopposing third, Love Billy Boy, for just over a length. Two Tribes narrowly failed to follow up his victory in a decent Sandown handicap when second at Chelmsford latest and a further 4lb rise may not prevent this progressive colt mounting another bold challenge. Master Of My Fate steps up a furlong, which is expected to suit.
ALMARADA showed a good response to pressure when doubling his tally at Hamilton 17 days ago and he appears to have been handed a lenient opening mark for his nursery debut, so he takes preference over Sayidh Kingman who was impressive when opening his account at Kempton last month. Love Billy also makes appeal in a race where the majority can be given some sort of a chance.
The return to 6f should be ideal for LOVE BILLY BOY, whose sales race third at York last month suggests he could be a big player.

Queen's Guard |
(7) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (7) Queen's Guard 16/1, 12/1, won 9-runner maiden at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) 44 days ago, readily. Should progress further, so not a forlorn hope Beaten fav on soft-ground debut; won at Yarmouth (good) but needs to improve on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (5/6 +40%) Beautiful Diamond |
5/6(+40%) | (6) Beautiful Diamond 5/6, Winner at Nottingham in June. 1¼ lengths fifth of 8 to Relief Rally in Lowther Stakes (7/2) at York (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Remains with potential and should make her presence felt. Queen Mary third who looked stretched by 6f in the Lowther; softish ground a grey area. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/8 +8%) Purosangue |
11/8(+8%) | (3) Purosangue 11/8, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Haydock in June. Runner-up in Molecomb at Goodwood last time. 9/4, bit below form 2 lengths second of 10 to Inquisitively in listed race at York (5f, good to firm) 27 days ago. Has the best form and recent rain has helped his cause, so big player. Ran his best race on soft ground when pushing Big Evs close in a Group 3 at Goodwood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 -67%) Bombay Bazaar |
20/1(-67%) | (1) Bombay Bazaar 20/1, Lightly-raced winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. Latest win at Beverley in June. 16/1, 3 lengths fourth of 6 to Task Force in listed race at Ripon (6f, good) 25 days ago. Limitations have been exposed in two Listed races since going back-to-back at Beverley. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -29%) Mon Na Slieve |
11/1(-29%) | (2) Mon Na Slieve 11/1, Thrice-raced winner. 3¼ lengths fifth of 10 to Inquisitively in listed race at York (5f, good to firm, 11/2) 27 days ago, suited by emphasis on speed. Bit to find but still relatively unexposed. Looks all about speed; behind Purosangue last time and softer ground here is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (150/1 -67%) Alfa Moonstone |
150/1(-67%) | (5) Alfa Moonstone 150/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Catterick in May. Last of 6 in nursery at Beverley (5f, good, 17/2) 26 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Last on her nursery debut 26 days ago and has a lot to find in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
PUROSANGUE was only beaten a neck by Big Evs in the Molecomb at Goodwood and then confirmed that promise when second at this level in the Roses Stakes at York. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give the son of Aclaim a big chance. Beautiful Diamond is an obvious threat having been placed in the Queen Mary and not beaten far at all in the Lowther last time. Queen's Guard rates best of the rest.
PUROSANGE was going the right way prior to a slight blip when only second in a listed contest at York last time and, with the ground likely to come in his favour, he takes preference over Beautiful Diamond, who is closely matched with the selection on form. Queen's Guard is the type to do better still and looks an interesting outsider.
Beautiful Diamond is not opposed lightly but PUROSANGUE's proven ability on soft ground swings the pendulum in his favour.

1st (3) (7/1 +0%) Pink Crystal |
7/1(+0%) | (3) Pink Crystal 7/1, Creditable 1¾ lengths fourth of 10 to Swingalong in Summer Stakes (6/1) at York (6f, good to firm) 70 days ago, running on. Merits consideration. Went close in this last year; thereabouts if handling conditions (unraced on slow turf). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (9/1 +10%) Secret Angel |
9/1(+10%) | (10) Secret Angel 9/1, Useful filly. Creditable 4¼ lengths third of 11 to Ocean Quest in Ballyogan Stakes at Naas (5.9f, good, 17/2) 26 days ago. Not totally dismissed. Has often run well in defeat this season and might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 +8%) Marine Wave |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Marine Wave 11/2, Progressive filly. Very good third of 14 in handicap at York (5f, good to firm, 11/2) 30 days ago, nearest finish having been forced to switch wide 1f out. Player despite going up in grade here. Unlucky third in handicap at York last month and this 3yo could play a leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/2 -13%) Aussie Girl |
9/2(-13%) | (5) Aussie Girl 9/2, Latest win at the Curragh in July. Creditable 3¾ lengths second of 11 to Ocean Quest in Ballyogan Stakes at Naas (5.9f, good, 6/1) 26 days ago, first home in group. One for the shortlist. Runner-up in Listed/Group 3 races the last twice; this Irish raider is one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (25/1 -127%) Perdika |
25/1(-127%) | (1) Perdika 25/1, Latest win at Chantilly in June. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, 5 lengths sixth of 8 to Commanche Falls in listed race (18/1) at York (6f, good) 12 days ago. Considered. Listed winner at Chantilly in June but below par the next twice; carries 3lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (40/1 +0%) Silent Words |
40/1(+0%) | (11) Silent Words 40/1, Fairly useful filly. 8/1, last of 7 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Back down in trip. Uphill task. Fourth in Glorious Goodwood handicap last month but plenty to find against today's rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (5/1 +33%) Funny Story |
5/1(+33%) | (6) Funny Story 5/1, Latest win at Nottingham in June. 10/3, good neck second of 11 to Believing in listed race at Pontefract (6f, good) 33 days ago. Progressing recently so she's well in the mix. Listed runner-up at Pontefract latest and this 3yo is in good hands to continue to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (5/1 +0%) Queen Me |
5/1(+0%) | (8) Queen Me 5/1, Useful filly. 4½ lengths eleventh of 16 to Live In The Dream in Nunthorpe Stakes at York (5f, good to firm, 22/1) 28 days ago. Has good chance on form in these calmer waters. Has contested Group 1 races the last twice and could be firmly involved back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (33/1 -18%) Radio Goo Goo |
33/1(-18%) | (9) Radio Goo Goo 33/1, 5 wins from 11 runs this year. Latest win at York in June. 17/2, respectable fifth of 14 in handicap at York (5f, good to firm) 30 days ago. No forlorn hope. Posted a handicap four-timer in May/June but it's likely she'll be outclassed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (125/1 -89%) Sweet Harmony |
125/1(-89%) | (13) Sweet Harmony 125/1, Fairly useful filly. 20/1 and visored for 1st time, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Plenty to find on form. 0-8 since winning a Yarmouth maiden last August on her second start; up against it today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (11/2 +35%) Sophia's Starlight |
11/2(+35%) | (12) Sophia's Starlight 11/2, Useful filly. 5 wins from 10 runs this year. 5/1, below form ninth of 18 in handicap at York (7f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Back down in trip. Needs to bounce back. Won the Great St Wilfrid and next run may have come too soon; capable of a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (40/1 +0%) Rum Cocktail |
40/1(+0%) | (4) Rum Cocktail 40/1, Useful filly. 5¼ lengths seventh of 8 to Nymphadora in listed race at York (5f, good, 14/1) 69 days ago. Can give a good account. Easy handicap win in June was a career best, but soundly beaten in Listed race since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
QUEEN ME has only competed at the highest level this year, with her best effort possibly coming in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, where she was not beaten far into sixth. The daughter of Dubawi steps into much calmer waters and she can gain a well-deserved second career success. Funny Story (second) had Gale Force Maya (fourth) behind when only denied by a neck at Pontefract and can go well once more. Sophia's Starlight has had a cracking season and could also mount a bold bid.
A few with chances. MARINE WAVE shaped really well when third in a York handicap last time so at the likely odds is worth siding with to take this step up in class in her stride. Funny Story also arrives at the top of her game and is feared greatly along with form-choice Queen Me, who acquitted hersel well in York's Nunthorpe Stakes last time out.
The 3yo MARINE WAVE was runner-up in a warm Listed race here in June and is the selection on the back of her unlucky third at York.

Yaaser |
(4) (10/1 +17%)10/1(+17%) | (4) Yaaser 10/1, Course winner. Career best when readily landing 12-runner handicap at Southwell (7f) 9 days ago. Deserted by Paul Mulrennan this time but still respected under a 5 lb penalty. Wins at 7f-plus but a fast-run race in a big field over 6f could play to his strengths. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Harry's Halo |
(6) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (6) Harry's Halo 16/1, Runner-up twice in 6f handicaps in the mud in July. Not seen to best effect when fifth of 9 at Pontefract last month and treated as if still in form. This 3-y-o is one of the least exposed in the line-up. Lightly raced 3yo who could resume his progressive ways when back on a slow surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (15/2 +38%) Ascot Adventure |
15/2(+38%) | (3) Ascot Adventure 15/2, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022 but that doesn't tell the full story as there have been plenty of good placed efforts since joining this yard. Capable of having a say. Races over 7f in the main but a strong pace in this big field can see him to good effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (13/2 +28%) Cold Stare |
13/2(+28%) | (11) Cold Stare 13/2, Has drawn a blank in 25 starts since scoring over C&D (soft) in autumn 2021 but his latest close third at Doncaster (6f, heavy) was creditable. Could have a big say if the ground goes soft. Winless since October 2021 but went very close at Doncaster latest and he likes it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 -57%) Jordan Electrics |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Jordan Electrics 22/1, C&D winner. Bounced back to form when winning 11-runner handicap at Carlisle (5f, good) at the start of this month and backed that up when a creditable third of 14 at Southwell (6f) since. 5 lb penalty. Creditable fifth last season and has won three times this year; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (24) (14/1 +30%) Sir Maxi |
14/1(+30%) | (24) Sir Maxi 14/1, Has done well over 6f in recent months, including a win at Pontefract in July. Placed at York and Pontefract since then and simply found things happening too quickly down at 5f for the first time here on Thursday. Should find this more suitable if turned out quickly. Outpaced when mid-division over 5f here yesterday; not written off now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (14/1 +36%) Ghathanfar |
14/1(+36%) | (9) Ghathanfar 14/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Sixth of 7 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to soft, 5/1) 13 days ago. Others more persuasive. Continues to drop down weights but has to produce more than he's managed on last few runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (33/1 +0%) Catch Cunningham |
33/1(+0%) | (12) Catch Cunningham 33/1, Turned in best effort of the campaign from a tumbling mark when fourth at Ripon last month but he failed to build on it at Doncaster last Sunday. Well handicapped but back to having something to prove following Doncaster last Sunday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (40/1 +20%) Borough |
40/1(+20%) | (13) Borough 40/1, Pair of 5f wins this summer, the first one here. Another solid run when second at Catterick (5f) last month but his run of good form came to a halt at Carlisle 3 weeks ago and he was also well held here on Thursday. Won twice this summer but below par the last twice, most recently here yesterday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (40/1 -82%) B Associates |
40/1(-82%) | (14) B Associates 40/1, Has proved a real money-spinner this year, producing a career best to notch his fifth win of the campaign in 7f Carlisle handicap last month. Creditable third back there (7f again) since. Just as effective at 6f. His penalty puts him on a career-high mark. 3yo who has won five times this year, mainly at 7f but once over 6f; has a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/2 +21%) Rock Melody |
11/2(+21%) | (1) Rock Melody 11/2, Hold up performer who scored twice over 5f at Musselburgh this summer and arrives on the back of a creditable runner-up effort there last weekend. Just as effective over 6f (third of 16 over C&D in July) and the mount of Paul Mulrennan from the Goldie contingent. Two wins this year and has also posted an eyecatching 3rd of 16 over C&D; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) (25/1 -14%) Trabajo Detecho |
25/1(-14%) | (15) Trabajo Detecho 25/1, Two AW wins at Newcastle at the start of the year and went in again Hamilton (6f) in July. Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (7f, soft) 9 days ago. This is more competitive than he's used to but not ruled out each-way now back down to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (22) (25/1 -25%) After John |
25/1(-25%) | (22) After John 25/1, Racked up an AW hat-trick at Newcastle at the end of 2022. Went close to another win there in February but it's hard to get too excited by his recent turf efforts. A couple of fair efforts on turf this summer but now 2-31 on grass; others more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (18/1 -13%) Asadjumeirah |
18/1(-13%) | (18) Asadjumeirah 18/1, Twenty seven runs since last win in 2022 but most recent efforts have been creditable, including his fourth of 11 at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago, never nearer. Can make presence felt. On a long losing run and will need everything to drop right, but often runs well in defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (21) (12/1 +25%) Kats Bob |
12/1(+25%) | (21) Kats Bob 12/1, C&D winner on soft in July. Ran well enough to think he's still in good form when fourth of 15 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, soft) on Monday. Two big runs over C&D in the summer and could give a good account now back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (15/2 +6%) Music Society |
15/2(+6%) | (2) Music Society 15/2, Won this race in 2019 and a respectable sixth in it last year. Another good run over C&D when second of 16 in July and he's capable of bouncing back from a below-par effort at Newmarket last month. 2 lb below his last winning mark. Won this in 2019 and he's one to consider judged on his close second over C&D this July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (23) (50/1 -52%) Shallow Hal |
50/1(-52%) | (23) Shallow Hal 50/1, C&D winner. Got his head back in front at Carlisle in July but his 3 runs since have been disappointing. Due to run in the 5.17 here on Thursday. Won at Carlisle in July but well beaten on next four starts, the latest here yesterday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (5) (22/1 -22%) Novak |
22/1(-22%) | (5) Novak 22/1, Final leg of a hat-trick in May/June came over C&D but the handicapper has been winning the argument since. Won three in a row in May/June but unplaced on last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (10) (33/1 +0%) Show Me Show Me |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Show Me Show Me 33/1, Reacted well to the fitting of a visor when winning over 5f at Beverley and Windsor in August but his 2 runs since suggest the effects of the headgear have worn off. Won two in a row last month but has finished down the field the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (20) (40/1 -21%) Bellagio Man |
40/1(-21%) | (20) Bellagio Man 40/1, Visored first time, ran poorly when eighth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, heavy) 48 days ago. Regular cheekpieces back on now. On a reduced mark but needs something extra to return to winning ways in this warm contest. |

19th (25) (33/1 +34%) Claim The Stars |
33/1(+34%) | (25) Claim The Stars 33/1, Finally got off the mark in a 15-runner handicap at Thirsk (6f, good) in June but hasn't reproduced that form in 3 outings since, including last of 13 at Redcar on Tuesday. Off the mark at the 20th attempt at Thirsk in June but has failed to kick on from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20th (8) (17/2 +39%) Little Muddy |
17/2(+39%) | (8) Little Muddy 17/2, Started the season with wins at Doncaster (5f, heavy) and over C&D (good) and showed he's still in form when second of 11 at Nottingham (6f, good to soft) last month. Any easing of the ground would increase his chance. Two wins this spring & some good form this summer, also; every chance she'll be in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A typically wide-open renewal in which chances can be made for plenty. Jordan Electrics was fifth in this 12 months ago and looks to be peaking at the right time in order to mount another stern challenge. Ascot Adventure has been in consistent form and could go well coming off a strong pace, along with stablemate Cold Stare. ASADJUMEIRAH finished sixth in the Silver Trophy at Ripon last month and is 13lb lower than when finishing a creditable 10th in last year's Silver Cup. He shades preference, while Kats Bob and Little Muddy are just two others to consider.
2019 winner MUSIC SOCIETY underlined he's well suited to this C&D when second in another big-field race in July and looks handicapped to strike having dropped 3 lb in the meantime. Jim Goldie pair American Affair, who shaped very well when third over 5f here on Thursday, and Rock Melody head the many dangers. Cold Stare could also have a big run in him if the ground goes soft.
The filly ROCK MELODY (nap) returned to form at Musselburgh last Sunday and caught the eye in the Gold Cup Trial over C&D in July.

6/1(+82%) | (10) Gracelands Girl 6/1, Fair maiden who ran respectably when third of 11 in 1m handicap at Thirsk (8f, soft) 4 days ago. Ought to remain competitive if this doesn't come too soon. Fair 3rd at Thirsk on Monday but 0-13 & hard to be overly confident today will be the day. |

5th (9) (11/1 +45%) Arkenstaar |
11/1(+45%) | (9) Arkenstaar 11/1, Landed back-to-back Hamilton handicaps in May and wasn't seen to best effect at Carlisle (9f, good) on most recent outing. Down to last winning mark but has to perform better than has been the case the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

14/1(+65%) | (13) Retirement Beckons 14/1, 4-time C&D winner. 3 wins from 13 runs this year, latest at Carlisle in August. 7/1, not seen to best effect when fourth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good to firm) 17 days ago, meeting trouble over 2f out. Four-time C&D winner who was denied clear run at Hamilton last time; he's a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (11/1 +21%) Soames Forsyte |
11/1(+21%) | (3) Soames Forsyte 11/1, Fair maiden who followed a below-par effort with an even worse one when eighth of 15 in minor event (12/1) at Doncaster (8f, good) 5 days ago, slowly away. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Close third at Beverley last month but below par the last twice and is now 0-14. |

Well held at Ripon on most recent outing but was reported to be coughing post-race. Running well in defeat prior to lesser effort at Ripon, where found to be coughing after. |

9th (14) (18/1 +45%) Zebra Star |
18/1(+45%) | (14) Zebra Star 18/1, Ran below form on first run since leaving Amy Murphy when sixth in 7-runner handicap at this course (10f, good, 28/1) 41 days ago, going off too hard. Hood back on. Could benefit from the return to 1m and reapplication of a hood on second stable start. |

28/1(-40%) | (7) Kelpie Grey 28/1, Fair maiden handicapper who has been below his best the last twice. Needs to have benefited from a break. Runner-up here in May but has failed to shine on his three starts since and is now 0-8. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (12/1 -71%) Bicep |
12/1(-71%) | (2) Bicep 12/1, Successful at Musselburgh in May and returned to form from out of the blue when second of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, soft) 9 days ago. His task is to now back that up. Went close over 7f at Carlisle recently; possible player if seeing out this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (33/1 -106%) Big Bad Wolf |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Big Bad Wolf 33/1, Shaped promisingly on Beverley debut a year ago but down the field all 3 starts this year. Not well treated on last two runs but promise previously; check betting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (28/1 -100%) Pembrokeshire |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Pembrokeshire 28/1, 28/1, shaped encouragingly on first run since leaving William Jarvis when fourth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 days ago, travelling best until finding his stamina running dry. Eased 2 lb and must enter the reckoning. Ran okay when fourth on stable debut (7f, AW) but needs to prove his stamina for 1m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
YORKSTONE took a little while to get on the scoresheet but he showed his appreciation for testing conditions when successful over 7f at Doncaster. The way he powered to the line suggested that he won't have a problem with the extra furlong, and he can double up. Ayr regular Retirement Beckons must be considered closely, while Gracelands Girl produced a better effort at Thirsk on Monday. Cosmos Raj has to enter the equation too.
A competitive event with the vote going to COSMOS RAJ, who left the firm impression he'd have been right in the mix with more luck in running at Thirsk last time. Pembrokeshire shaped encouragingly on his recent yard debut at Newcastle and should tighten up for the outing, with Doncaster-scorer Yorkstone another to take seriously.
Having been in good form prior to Ripon last time, when he had an excuse (found to be coughing), POL ROGER can exploit a reduced mark.

7th (12) (10/1 +17%) Chinese Spirit |
10/1(+17%) | (12) Chinese Spirit 10/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Musselburgh in August. Good third of 6 in handicap (9/2) at Musselburgh (8f, good to soft) 6 days ago, left poorly placed. Ought to be in the shake-up. Arrives in decent form but will probably find younger rivals better handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (16/1 +0%) Carlton |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Carlton 16/1, Posted his best effort since joining current yard when fourth of 8 in handicap (50/1) at Carlisle (7.8f, soft) 9 days ago. Not dismissed if building on it. Initially very disappointing for new stable this summer but latest run was much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (28/1 +15%) Rogue Force |
28/1(+15%) | (13) Rogue Force 28/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Below-par third of 6 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, soft, 11/2) 5 days ago. Has work to do. Didn't run badly at Musselburgh on Sunday, but that was just a 0-55 contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (16/1 -14%) Tremendous Times |
16/1(-14%) | (8) Tremendous Times 16/1, 5/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (7.8f, good) 21 days ago. Others more persuasive. Ran big race in defeat at Carlisle in July but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (8/1 +56%) Destined |
8/1(+56%) | (5) Destined 8/1, Winner at Redcar in May. 6/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 21 days ago. Needs considering. Yet to run a bad race after seven starts and this step up in trip is well worth a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (12/1 +25%) No Barrier |
12/1(+25%) | (6) No Barrier 12/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good, 17/2) 41 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. Disappointed last time and now 0-12 but went close off this mark on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (20/1 +39%) Two Rivers |
20/1(+39%) | (14) Two Rivers 20/1, Unreliable type. Good fifth of 14 in handicap (11/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 11 days ago, not clear run. Back down in trip. Others have still achieved more. 11-race maiden; recent efforts offer come hope but he's not the percentage call here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Jim Goldie holds a leading hand, with his two C&D winners Ayr Poet and ALPINE SIERRA likely to be at the forefront of the market. The latter edges the vote having returned to form when finishing a close-up third at Carlisle and he races off 1lb lower here. His stablemate has already won twice at this venue this season and should go well again, while No Barrier shouldn't be far away if freshened up by a short break.
ALPINE SIERRA signalled he's ready to go in again when third at Carlisle last time and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark here at the chief expense of C&D winner Chinese Spirit. In-form duo Zumaaty and Ayr Poet appeal as the pick of the remainder for place purposes.
The recent rain is a big positive for ZUMAATY, who recently signalled a return to form at Hamilton.

1st (10) (9/2 +72%) Valley Of Flowers |
9/2(+72%) | (10) Valley Of Flowers 9/2, Free-going type who got off the mark for the season at Beverley in June and has held her form very well since. Won this race from 4 lb lower 12 months ago. Shortlisted. Broke her duck in this race last year and bang there every time (one win) this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 +17%) Clansman |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Clansman 10/1, C&D winner who produced a career best when scoring on his return at Doncaster in April. Has run below form on his last 2 starts, though. C&D winner; also won reappearance; well handicapped if the ground has softened. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -14%) Golden Valour |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Golden Valour 16/1, Temperamental sort. Thirty runs since last win in 2020 and ran his customary race when fourth of 5 in handicap at Musselburgh (12.5f, soft) 5 days ago, carrying head high before consenting to run on late. Others preferred for win purposes. Fair fourth when back up to 1m4f for last two outings but he carries his head high. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (9/1 +25%) Optician |
9/1(+25%) | (12) Optician 9/1, Ran well despite not been seen to best effect when fourth of 7 in handicap at Ripon (12f, good to firm, 13/2) 17 days ago, not clear run last ½f. Not discounted. 0-10; on a competitive mark and first run beyond 1m4f looks worth a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (17/2 +47%) Bobby Shaftoe |
17/2(+47%) | (6) Bobby Shaftoe 17/2, 3 wins from 10 runs this year. 5/2, respectable second of 6 in handicap at Musselburgh (16f, good to soft) 6 days ago. Can give another good account. Placed at Carlisle (1m6f) and Musselburgh (2m, good to soft) on his two outings this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 +78%) Glasses Up |
4/1(+78%) | (2) Glasses Up 4/1, Ended long losing run back in cheekpieces here in August and has run at least as well in defeat both outings since. Should go well again back down in trip. August's win was his first for more than two years; this may be a bit too competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (20/1 -122%) Crystal Guard |
20/1(-122%) | (11) Crystal Guard 20/1, 4/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 14 days ago. Can be argued he's returning to form, but long time since he made a serious impact on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (6/1 +20%) Annandale |
6/1(+20%) | (3) Annandale 6/1, C&D winner who ran well from a career-low mark when second of 11 in handicap (15/2) at Redcar (14f, good to firm) 27 days ago. Every chance with a repeat. No win since a C&D race two years ago; way down the weights and runner-up on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (13/2 -18%) Belle Of Annandale |
13/2(-18%) | (4) Belle Of Annandale 13/2, Matched his fair Flat form in getting off the mark immediately switched to hurdles for new yard at Perth in August. Well below that level at Hexham 16 days ago but he's generally consistent so a good run likely now returned to this code. Second or third in half of her 18 Flat starts, without winning; 5lb claimer is enlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (33/1 -136%) Lochnaver |
33/1(-136%) | (9) Lochnaver 33/1, Latest win at Hamilton in June and returned to a similar level when third in 5-runner handicap at Catterick (13.9f, soft) 10 days ago. All three wins at Hamilton; even her best turf form may not be quite good enough. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Valley Of Flowers won this race last year from a 4lb lower mark and recent performances have proven that she can compete from her current mark. The five-year-old merits respect, as does Annandale, who struck the woodwork at Redcar last month, though a chance is taken on GLASSES UP. The son of English Channel was unable to land a blow at Musselburgh 23 days ago, but he is proven at a higher level and might be able to strike down in class.
VALLEY OF FLOWERS has been holding her form very well and is selected to land this race for a second year running. There are plenty of dangers however, with Belle of Annandale, a recent winner over hurdles, and Annandale, who ran well from a career-low mark at Redcar last month, to name just a couple.
She might not the best handicapped but VALLEY OF FLOWERS won this last year and looks by some way the most likely to give her running.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
