13:45 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A 3lb rise for Joie De Vivre's Sedgefield victory in November shouldn't prevent another bold bid, especially as William Maggs' valuable claim effectively cancels that out. However, that form hasn't worked out as hoped so it could be worth taking a punt on handicap debutant FIVEAFTERFOUR. The six-year-old was far from disgraced when weakening into third over an inadequate 2m at Kelso last month and an opening mark of 92 is potentially lenient. Spice Diva also makes some appeal dropped in distance.

FIVEAFTERFOUR has achieved just modest form over hurdles to date following her point win, but the step up in trip is in her favour and she's worth a chance to make a successful start in handicaps. Last-time-out winner Joie de Vivre remains well treated on old form and Spice Diva is also worthy of consideration.

There ought to be a fair bit more to come from FIVEAFTERFOUR, who made the frame in her last two qualifying races.

14:15 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MOONLIGHTER's stamina appeared stretched when weakening inside the final furlong at Chepstow last month. The veteran may be able to build on that fourth-placed effort over this shorter trip and a fourth victory over fences could be imminent. Nine-time course winner Ardera Cross always warrants a second look at this venue and he shouldn't be underestimated having scored over track and trip on his most recent outing, while fellow last-time-out winner Netywell isn't dismissed either.

FIA FUINIDH has taken well to fences and is fancied to build on his second to Ardera Cross over C&D last time and gain a first success in this sphere. William Young's veteran is feared most in his bid to follow up last year's win in this event, with fellow C&D scorers Netywell and Rocco Storm also firmly in the picture.

On the back of wind surgery, FIA FUINIDH is not without hope of reversing recent course placings with the veteran Ardera Cross.

14:45 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

INDIAN LOUIS proved a different proposition when making all on his handicap/chase debut at Musselburgh on New Year's Day. A 5lb rise for that first victory looks far from insurmountable and Lucinda Russell's six-year-old should take all the beating. Knocknagappagh posted a solid second on her return to handicap company at Punchestown last time and the Getaway mare is feared most with Brian Hughes aboard, while Artic Row still looks to have more to offer in this sphere as well.

INDIAN LOUIS looked a natural switched to chasing at Musselburgh last time and he's fancied to follow up with the potential for a good deal more improvement. Artic Row is a big threat and Knocknagappagh has been running well in Ireland of late.

Preference is for ARTIC ROW, who was quite impressive over C&D in December and remains lightly raced over fences.

15:20 Ayr Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MYRETOWN finished 12 lengths clear of the third on his hurdles debut over 2m last month and he would have learnt a great deal from that experience. Lucinda Russell's gelding now takes a step up in distance and he could prove very hard to beat. President Scottie has shown ability on each of his starts over timber, including when filling the runner-up berth over C&D last time, and he has to be considered. Of the remainder, Annaghbeg appeals most after his fourth at Down Royal.

PRESIDENT SCOTTIE looked a winner in waiting when a fine second over C&D last time so is taken to edge out Lucinda Russell's Myretown, who also appeals as a good prospect on the back of his own promising runner-up effort here last month. Annaghbeg has the form to play a part too while fellow Irish raider Plumbago is not without interest on his hurdling bow and worth a market check.

Myretown can improve but ANNAGHBEG sets a pretty good standard if judged on the form of his first two hurdle runs.

15:55 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TEESCOMPONENTSTRIG produced a highly encouraging display to hit the crossbar in a class 3 event at Newcastle last time and he was only put up 2lb for that effort. The son of Black Sam Bellamy takes a drop in grade and he has similar conditions to contend with in first-time blinkers, which could eke out the improvement needed to score. Lady In The Park got up by half a length to shed her maiden tag under Rules at Wetherby on Boxing Day and she makes plenty of appeal on handicap debut, while Cream Of The West is another to consider after his success here last time.

TEESCOMPONENTSTRIG proved he's as good as ever when second to a subsequent winner at Newcastle last month and is the percentage call to go one better in a change of headgear back down in grade. Shoeshine Boy is sure to be in the thick of the action if bouncing back from a poor run at Haydock, with handicap-debutante Lady In The Park and the lighty-raced Cream of The West completing the shortlist.

Second to a revitalised subsequent winner last month, TEESCOMPONENTSTRIG (nap) still looks well handicapped after a 2lb nudge.

(2) Camp Belan 17/2, Thorough stayer who gained his sole success to date at Kelso in November 2022. Rather-in-and out since but he put in a decent shift when third in first-time blinkers (retained) back at that venue latest and is lurking on a potentially handy mark.
Just 1-16 over fences but ended 2023 with some good efforts on slow ground; in the mix.

Well clear of third when going close on recent hat-trick bid; respected in current mood.

16:30 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Narrowly denied the hat-trick at Kelso last month, DEEP CHARM should be well suited by going back up in trip and conditions should not inconvenience as he looks to overcome a 4lb rise. The son of Kayf Tara gets the vote ahead of the capable Post Chaise and the unexposed Artic Breeze, who ran well on his first start for last year's winning trainer at Market Rasen. Others to note include Camp Belan, Gipsy Lee Rose and Skyhill.

Several to consider in this competitive handicap with POST CHAISE taken to defy top-weight. The form of his latest start in this sphere looks solid and he has subsequently performed with credit over hurdles. Deep Charm's jumping hasn't always been foot-perfect but he's hard to knock judged on recent form and is feared most. Cowboy Cooper is also respected, along with Baron Briggs and Camp Belan.

Top of the list is BARON BRIGGS, who recovered well from some slow jumps on the first circuit to finish third on his latest outing.

17:04 Ayr NH Flat Race (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Fresh off a double at Naas on Saturday, the Terence O'Brien stable couldn't be in better form and PITWOOD ROAD looks well capable of landing the spoils in this winnable contest. The booking of Brian Hughes looks significant and she may have too much for Golden Point, as well as Roebuck Bay, who has shaped with promise on both career outings. Road To Mallow should be noted for market support as she makes her debut for shrewd connections.

It could be a 1-2 for the Irish with PITWOOD ROAD and Road To Mallow both appealing candidates. The latter is a likely type on paper and it'll be interesting to see how she shapes up in the betting but Pitwood Road is given another chance to build on the abundant promise of her Rules debut second at Tipperary. Visual Impact is third choice ahead of stablemate Golden Point.

Preference is for ROEBUCK BAY who now goes against her own sex after two promising efforts. Pitwood Road is second choice.
