14/1(-17%)
(5) Geezer Rockstar 14/1, Won 13-runner Taunton bumper on debut in April. Fair form when beaten just under 15 lengths into fourth on his hurdles debut at the same venue but proved to be a disappointment at Exeter when last seen in January.
Promising start before struggling on heavy; needs improvement to get involved here.

(15) Zanndabad 3/1, Useful Flat form but finished well held on first attempt at Fairyhouse in November, not helped by jumping errors. Much more like it when runner-up at Musselburgh last month despite making mistakes again but he has the raw ability to win a maiden hurdle. Back up in trip.
Excellent second last time at Musselburgh; brings strong form claims back into a maiden.

(13) Vincenzo 7/4, Placed on the second of 2 starts in bumpers and built on a promising hurdling debut after 11 weeks off when second to an above-average prospect at Warwick (19f) in January. Another sound effort over C&D since and a tongue tie now on after a breathing operation.
Has held his own against classy opposition the last twice and this looks a good opening.

13:35 Ascot /Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ZANNDABAD bounced back to form when filling second place in a valuable handicap at Musselburgh last month and he could be hard to beat if reproducing that level of form here. Vincenzo has shown promise on all three of his previous starts over hurdles and he may benefit from a first-time tongue-tie following a recent wind operation. Idefix De Ciergues edges out Old Time Chaser and Bare Meadows to be best of the rest.

ZANNDABAD could do with brushing up his jumping but there's definite scope to do better in this sphere based on his Flat ability, so he's awarded the tentative vote in what is an open race by maiden hurdle standards. Ballyfin performed with credit in a warm C&D race last time so he's a threat, along with Vincenzo on the back of a breathing operation.

Subsequent EBF Final runner-up Pic Roc won the C&D maiden in which VINCENZO wasn't beaten far here last month. This looks easier.

14:10 Ascot Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ROCKINASTORM appeared to have plenty in hand when scoring over 3m at Ludlow last month and that was his third win from just five starts over fences. Off a 6lb higher mark here, the seven-year-old could add another victory to his record. Godot was only narrowly denied on his most recent outing at Plumpton and another good effort can be expected, while Invincible Nao and King's Threshold complete the shortlist.

STORMINHOME had been knocking on the door before getting stuck in the mud at Southwell 3 weeks ago so is worth another chance with conditions more in his favour here. This does look competitive, though, with Jacks Touch and Invincible Nao heading the dangers.

This might be run to suit strong-traveller KING'S THRESHOLD, who has made a solid start to his chasing career.

(1) Royal Way 5/1, Fair 1½m winner on Flat in France and has taken well to hurdling for new connections, winning 2 juveniles at Ludlow this year. A useful effort will be needed to defy top weight on handicap debut but the form of his second Ludlow win has been franked.

14:45 Ascot Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Royal Way has to be of interest following two victories at Ludlow in recent months, but marginal preference is for KADO DE JOIE. Nicky Henderson's gelding got off the mark at Market Rasen last month and that form suggests that an opening mark of 110 should be workable. Hamsiyann also put in a career best on his most recent outing and should not be discounted, while Kourosh is another to consider.

This looks competitive. Irish-raider HAMSIYANN should have plenty of scope from this sort of mark judged on his Flat ability and gets the vote, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Kado de Joie and the hat-trick seeking Royal Way head the many dangers in an interesting race.

If forgiven a below-par run last time then there's good reason to believe that KOUROSH could be on a fair mark for his handicap debut.

15:20 Ascot Handicap Chase (Class 2) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

This can go the way of THELASTHIGHKING, who has shown plenty of pace over further the last twice and should be suited by dropping back in distance on this occasion. A winner of two of his last four starts in this sphere, Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge is narrowly preferred to Martator, who bounced back to winning ways with a taking performance at Newbury earlier in the month. Frere D'armes has shown little in recent starts but is well capable on his day for in-form connections.

Although FRERE D'ARMES was pulled up in the Grand Annual at last week's Cheltenham Festival he's the mount of Harry Skelton from his yard's 2 runners here and might be able to stage a revival in this easier race and back on a sounder surface. Recent Newbury winner Martator is second choice ahead of Thelasthighking.

Topweight THELASTHIGHKING posted two good seconds in the autumn and earns the vote now back from a break. Walk In Clover is feared.

(10) Perculator 12/1, Bumper winner who found some improvement for first-time cheekpieces when opening her hurdling account at Wetherby (3m) in January. Good fourth of six at Carlisle (25f, heavy) since so she can go well again off an unchanged mark.
Drew nicely clear with progressive rival when winning at Wetherby two runs ago; a possible.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A tentative vote goes to REDBRIDGE RAMBLER, who was slightly unlucky when carried left and short of room late on at Sedgefield last month. That represented arguably a career best for the six-year-old and the step up in trip should suit as he looks to get the better of Plumpton scorer Nickelforce and Face D'music, who makes his handicap debut following a couple of decent efforts at Hereford. Others to note include Perculator and Rebel Intentions.

Plenty are in with a shout. NICKELFORCE deservedly got off the mark at Plumpton last time and can make light of a 6 lb rise in the weights now his stamina is drawn out more. Much Too Dear starts out in handicaps on a lenient mark and could emerge as the chief threat after his break, with Perculator and Face d'Music well in the mix too.

Bottom weight MAC'S LEGACY has strong claims if judged on his clear second to a three-time subsequent winner at Hereford in January.

16:30 Ascot Handicap Chase (Class 2) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Two For Gold landed the corresponding event 12 months ago and connections will be hopeful that a first-time tongue-tie can see the admirable veteran return to form. However, after scoring in a valuable veterans' series final at Warwick in January, SAM BROWN was far from disgraced in the Denman Chase and it was a similar story in the Coral Trophy at Kempton last time. Down in class and with Freddie Gingell taking off a crucial 5lb, he might be the answer. Larry is also noted.

It could be worth chancing TWO FOR GOLD, who figures off a handy mark and goes particularly well here (won this event 12 months ago). The returning Diego Du Charmil and Certainly Red are both having their first starts in veterans events and are feared most.

Topweight SAM BROWN (nap) has continued in good form since winning the series final at Warwick in January and gets the nod.

17:05 Ascot Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The form of SUPREME GIFT's recent course second has worked out well, with both the third and fourth winning next time, so a subsequent 3lb rise might not prevent Henry Daly's charge from going one better. The Four Sixes also occupied the runner-up berth on his latest outing at Wetherby and he is unlikely to be far away, while top-weight Get A Tonic drops in class and must be respected for the in-form Dan Skelton team.

THE FOUR SIXES has made a positive start for Olly Murphy and travelled with purpose when runner-up at Wetherby last time, so he gets the marginal vote over Itso Fury, who is also going the right way. Supreme Gift is another one to consider.

The 5yo novice JOSH THE BOSS was disappointing at Exeter last month but showed considerable promise previously and he's the pick.
