He forged clear in the closing stages and Tony Carroll's consistent sprinter is taken to confirm superiority with the runner-up Rebel Star. The latter could make more of a race of it given she reopposes on more favourable terms, while Merrimack could shape well in this lower grade.

Preference is for the resurgent 8yo POP DANCER (nap) who has won two of his last three including a dominant display over C&D last time.

SIR ROCK never saw another rival when making all to win at Fontwell last month and Toby Lawes' unexposed chaser is fancied to defy a 6lb rise under similar conditions. Eightytwo Team has a different profile but she must be respected having bolted up from 4lb lower at Warwick latest, while the Christian Williams-trained Cave Article appeals most of the remainder.

A tight race in which five of the six can be expected to threaten. SIR ROCK only did enough at Fontwell last time.

DAZZLING HAZE ran out of steam in the closing stages when third over the minimum trip at Thirsk on debut. The runner-up has subsequently boosted that form and the daughter of A'Ali looks capable of winning at this level on that evidence. Mission Classified found a couple too good attempting to make every yard over 6f at Goodwood, so this shorter distance will likely suit, while London Boy is a newcomer to note.

The vote goes to DAZZLING HAZE who made a promising start when third at Thirsk and that form has been boosted by the runner-up since.

We Got Your Back has been knocking hard at the door in recent starts and he is expected to make his presence felt once again, but it is FRENCH SYMPHONY that gets the vote. The son of Mahler is related to useful chaser Another Crick so it would come as no great surprise were he to find improvement for the switch to fences - and the addition of first-time cheekpieces could help eke out more too. Ensel Du Perche can chase the pair home.

The 7yo WE GOT YOUR BACK has been running well for a while and he can jump better than when headed late on last time at Perth.

IREZUMI is not the most straightforward, but wasn't beaten far when third in a handicap here last time, despite his usual tardy start. Jim Boyle's charge gets another chance at this lower level. Fullforward scored over course and distance last autumn and could feature if bouncing back, while Fascinating Lips will appreciate any more rain on his first start since March.

Most of these have lots to prove but IREZUMI won here last summer and he's caught the eye with his strong finishes over C&D recently.

That rise will make things tougher, but Stella Barclay's gelding is the only real pace angle in this field and, if able to dictate, he might take all the beating again. Both Carlton and Pottersmattyeeehaa enter handicaps for the first time, which could see them to greater effect.

The James Owen-trained CARLTON enters his first handicap over hurdles soon after a solid effort in a strong handicap on the AW.

DARYSINA GOLD was beaten a neck over C&D last Monday when benefiting from the drop back to a mile and the daughter of Golden Horn makes plenty of appeal in her bid to go one better. Buy The Dip improved from his return effort at Newbury when filling the runner-up spot here and a 2lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Others to consider are Blenheim Star and Cuban Girl.

Top of the list is DARYSINA GOLD, who went close over C&D last Monday and is a big player if she can repeat that form.

Going by the official ratings, Betty's Tiara and Little Dipper are each-way players in this company. However, Nicky Henderson introduces an appealing type in the shape of Final Straw, who could be anything at this stage. Support in the betting market for this half-brother to hurdles winner Sayitfirst would be a persuasive factor.

Ilestdancingspirit has solid claims but BETTY'S TIARA has a better chance here than in her first assignment after wind surgery.

TIME PATROL hasn't looked back since returning to turf in April with three victories here, including over C&D at the end of last month, and the five-year-old gets the vote to continue his good form. Zu Run justified favouritism over C&D last time but has to contend with a 6lb rise. With that in mind, Bint Havana Gold, who has been a model of consistency in recent months, may prove to be the bigger threat.

Preference is for TIME PATROL who made it 3-3 at Brighton when completing a course hat-trick ten days ago. Zu Run is feared most.

JANWORTH seemed to enjoy making the running when she emerged as a ready winner at Sedgefield last month and a 6lb higher rating looks manageable for her bid to follow up. On the back of a couple of placed efforts at Warwick, Granny Hawkins could be a big threat to the selection if she continues to flourish, while Lady's Present and Oneforthefairgreen have plenty to offer from these terms and are others to seriously consider.

A chance is taken on ONEFORTHEFAIRGREEN who will be glad to see the back of fences and she was second when last ridden by Sean Bowen.

Bear To Dream gained a fourth success here in a classified event last week and escapes a penalty. River Wharfe got the better of stable companion Poetic Force (third) and Comedian Leader (fourth) when the trio met at this track over a mile last month. KRANJCAR gets the nod, though. George Boughey's gelding can be forgiven his latest effort at Chelmsford, having stumbled leaving the stalls, and is much better judged on his C&D success the time before.

The vote goes to BEAR TO DREAM, who won a classified event over C&D last Monday and is on an unchanged mark back in a handicap.

A Listed novice hurdle winner, she was well held on her initial chase runs and while left clear to win at Killarney, that was nonetheless a good performance. Runcok attained a higher hurdles rating of 141 than the selection and debuts under a 7lb claimer on chase debut. Itsalladream chased home a useful winner at Ballinrobe and has place claims.

A LAW OF HER OWN gets the nod. This is her optimum distance and she ran a blinder in a Grade 3 novice over C&D last September

Ancient Times was well held on his only previous run at this venue and has something to prove on that basis, while Copper Knight is more proven on stamina-demanding courses but has only won once since scoring over C&D in July 2023. Therefore, Protest Rally (winner) and HOVER ON THE WIND (second) could be the pair to focus on. The former narrowly held sway when they clashed over track-and-trip last month. However, the latter is 6lb better off at the weights, when factoring in his rider's claim, and can turn things around.

All of the runners have claims but the vote goes to 15-time winner COPPER KNIGHT, who was only just caught at Ayr last time.

ALWAYS BUSY banished the memory of a couple of non-completions when he won with plenty in hand over C&D last month and appears to have been placed in a very winnable race for his follow up bid. Shadows In The Sky has done well since joining James Owen and, open to improvement over the trip, he is another must for consideration. Edgewell and Myfavouritesister complete the shortlist.

The 9yo SHADOWS IN THE SKY (nap) has been another success story for James Owen and he can continue his good work back over hurdles.

HK FOURTEEN remains unexposed on the turf and showed up well over C&D recently when keeping on well for third. Dropping 1lb will make life easier and he is narrowly preferred to Sergeant Mayer, who was denied the hat-trick when behind an in-form subsequent winner at Carlisle last time out. Turned out again quickly after a taking success over further at Goodwood on Friday, Dapperling must be of interest.

Sergeant Mayer can feature but HK FOURTEEN still has untapped potential and his reappearance was promising.

INTHENICKOFTIME has been running well and represents an in-form yard. The selection would ideally prefer slightly further but scored over a similar distance over hurdles last August and likes good ground. Four-time winner Prince Of Air is more exposed and has three and a half lengths to find with the selection on Killarney form, but is an able performer at this level. Charlies Pride is similarly suited by conditions and ran well at Tipperary last month.

Richard Fahey won the 2021 edition of this race with a similar type to LILY PEARL and this daughter of Ardad looks the most logical option after her promising fourth-placed finish over C&D on her debut last month. There's A Chance also created a favourable impression on her racecourse bow at Thirsk and cannot be ruled out given she had a legitimate excuse at Carlisle most recently, having stumbled at the start. Just A Girl and Westend Music are interesting newcomers for the shortlist.

The pick of the runners with experience is LILY PEARL. Flybar, Angela's Baar and Westend Music are interesting newcomers.

No stranger to first-time-out winners, trainer Andrew Balding looks to have a nice filly in DICTAL, who is by Frankel out of a Listed-winning mare over this distance. Fellow newcomer Hassaleh's pedigree suggests she will want further in time, while Bella Lyra sets the standard having finished creditably behind a smart sort of Hugo Palmer's on debut at Haydock. Country Artiste and Gnocchi are other debutants to note.

Siding with PIED PIPER would appear to be the safest course of action. Gordon Elliott's charge was formerly a very useful hurdler and has taken pretty well to the chasing game in a couple of starts over the larger obstacles. Improvement in his jumping was noted at Killarney and an uncomplicated front-running approach could well see further gains for the money-spinning chestnut. A chunky weight concession may see some go for the mare Zenta in search of a bit of value. Midnight Moonshine is next best.

Perfectly Timed and KITSUNE POWER are closely matched based on the face value of their encounter at Thirsk in April. The former only had a neck to spare over his old rival when winning that race and, armed with a 4lb pull at the weights, the latter has a big chance of gaining the upper hand this time. The hat-trick seeking Educator is another strong contender, despite going up another 4lb for a cosy success at Windsor last month.

Wind surgery has rejuvenated EDUCATOR who is taken to complete a hat-trick. Perfectly Timed is second choice.

Stepping up in trip is likely to bring about plenty of improvement and he should have too much for Jupiter Ammon, who was last seen rallying late in the piece over 1m at Chelmsford. Earthwatch and Relocal haven't shown much so far, but are dangerous to ignore given their connections.

Nearly all eyes will probably be on NAHRAAN who looked such an exciting prospect when winning over 8.6f on the AW at Wolverhampton.

LUCKINTHECITY has been competing in Graded company and can show the benefit of taking a drop in class. This trip and ground would look a good fit for the selection, as he showed at Cork last October. Since then the chasing debutant has failed to complete in a couple of outings, but he has a race-fitness edge over his stable companion Uncle Pat. It should be revealing as to how the pair shape up in the market. Willie Mullins isn't the only trainer with dual representation, as Gordon Elliott fields Harsh and Heroes Rise. His pair can't be taken lightly, with similar comments applying to Brave Fortune.

This may go to BRAVE FORTUNE who has the measure of Heroes Rise on a previous clash over hurdles. He made a pleasing chase debut.

Having performed well when fifth in a stronger contest at Killarney recently, THE GRADUAL SLOPE shouldn't be far away. Dropped 2lb subsequently, the Sean O'Brien-trained gelding is now back on the same mark as when he won at last year's Punchestown Festival. Lightly raced over fences, Dorans Law has to be a leading contender for the in-form Philip Rothwell yard. He confirmed his well-being when runner-up at Down Royal last month. Handicap chase debutant Beggars Rock is another to consider.

ACCENTUATE has shown enough potential to suggest he can win at this level. Roger Varian's inmate posted a debut full of promise at Ascot last summer, and returned to action with another good effort when runner-up over 7f at Newbury. This extra furlong looks likely to suit and he's preferred to Redcar second Pebble Island. The latter warrants plenty of respect, while Dissident, a half-brother to Arc heroine Bluestocking, is another to note.

Much stronger race than the first division. ACCENTUATE finished with a flourish to be second over 7f at Newbury and looks the standout.

A faller on his chasing debut at Limerick last month, WEST CLARE can make amends. The Brian McMahon-trained gelding had gone into that contest in good form, having won over hurdles at Listowel on his previous start. Runner-up in a point-to-point earlier in his career, the son of Leading Light deserves another chance to show he is capable of better. Derek O'Connor looks a significant jockey booking in a race such as this. Da Big Fella hasn't won in almost four years but has run some nice races in the interim. Top-weight Burru could be well handicapped.

Ivan Furtado's sprinter posted his best effort of the year so far, when runner-up on the turf course at Lingfield, and another bold bid looks likely on that evidence. Illusionist drops in class and has a shout, especially if the forecast rain arrives.

After winning an apprentices' handicap at Doncaster, Ocean Heights made the most of avoiding a penalty when he followed up at Haydock within a week last month. A 4lb higher rating is fair for the hat-trick bid and another bold showing looks likely. However, conceding 9lb to fellow last-time-out winner MREMBO could be his undoing here. The selection is a previous C&D winner that has won races back-to-back before and has a strong chance of emulating the feat. Carp Kid and Boy George are other appealing options.

Boy George would look the most likely winner on several counts but a chance is taken that ALPINE STROLL can repeat his 2024 revival.

FIERCE found himself trapped on the rail over 5f at Beverley last time and will have likely finished closer than fourth with a clear run. However, that effort confirmed he arrives in good order and the son of Dandy Man is taken to launch a serious challenge. It would be no surprise to see a better effort from The Good Biscuit in this lower grade, while Loving Apprentice won her maiden here last autumn and will be sharper for last month's comeback.

BAY OF DREAMS had plenty in hand when winning over an extended mile at Nottingham last week and looks the type to cope with a 6lb penalty. The step up in trip is also a potential source for improvement and, with the ground forecast to be suitable, James Ferguson's unexposed filly readily looks the way to go. Pistrucci has track-and-trip experience and is feared the most on that basis, while support in the betting for handicap debutant Three On Thursday would make her a tempting proposition.
