(12) Bantz , Game when scored by 1/2l off 59 at Doncaster penultimate start; third beaten 1 1/2l off 63 last time; wide draw; outside chance
Upgraded to a Class 5 here but considered after competitive runs the last twice.
LTO Selection:

A War Eagle finished a narrow second on handicap bow at Hamilton last month and he is respected from 2lb higher. Stall 12 is far from ideal, though, and with that in mind, preference is for COMMANDER OF LIFE. Jessica Macey's gelding has steadily been coming to the boil in recent starts, posting a creditable second at Chester latest. This stiff finish could eke out a little extra and, if doing so, he should go close. Park Street was a beaten favourite at Redcar on Saturday but he won this from 5lb higher in 2023.

If he can cope with the wide draw then the 3yo A WAR EAGLE may be the answer as he bumped into a sharp improver on handicap debut.

(6) My Boy Harry , Back to form down in trip second beaten 1/2l in a handicap over 5f at Lingfield latest; unproven on fast ground; probably ideally suited by 6f; should be thereabouts if stamina holds up

0
()
(7) Perfect Parole , Better effort beaten 3l in a handicap over 8f here last time; may not relish fast ground; down in trip; best form essentially on the AW; may find this on the sharp side
1-13 for Tom Ward; respected down in grade on stable debut.
8

(8) Spinning Dancer ( )
Spinning Dancer

0
()
(8) Spinning Dancer , Too fresh off a break down the field in a handicap over 8f here most recent; usually consistent; may not relish fast ground; down in trip; very little worthwhile form and as yet unproven on turf; opposed
Out of the frame in eight starts including when behind Perfect Parole here this month.
LTO Selection:

A winner at this level on the all-weather, MY BOY JACK looks set to open his account on turf based on his recent second at Yarmouth. That was his first start since March, so it's highly likely Kevin Frost's charge will be sharper and a strong challenge is anticipated. Perfect Parole wasn't beaten that far when fifth here last time and she could feature, while Neptune Legend is another to note representing last year's winning trainer.

This may be a good opportunity for NEPTUNE LEGEND on his first start back from wind surgery, the stable having won this race last year.

(4) London , Slowly away well beaten in a maiden over 6f at Naas only start; up in trip; off a short-break; all to do
100-1 when down the field in a 6f maiden at Naas two months ago; best watched here.

(5) Private Project ( )
Private Project

0
()
(5) Private Project , Runner-up beaten 2l in a maiden at Lingfield only start; should improve; dam half-sister to Group 1 winner Al Kazeem; serious threat
Grabbed the favoured stands' rail at Lingfield (7f, good) and yet still came up shy.
LTO Selection:

Karl Burke and Clifford Lee teamed up to land the Albany at Royal Ascot on Friday and further success may await the pair courtesy of HOPE QUEEN. The Night Of Thunder filly, who fetched 135,000gns as a yearling, has a mixture of speed and stamina in her pedigree. She might not need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a successful debut, although Lingfield runner-up Private Project should give her plenty to think about. Conjecture represents lofty connections and she warrants a market check.

The market will naturally be informative but HOPE QUEEN edges preference over Conjecture.

(1) Crimson Spirit , Well backed, improved handicap form second start off a break landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off 76 at Salisbury last time; trainer in form; could follow up

(2) Great Blasket , Well backed, waited until late for a run and going away line landing a handicap by 1/2l off 73 over 8f at Chepstow last time; down in trip; can rate more highly

Revolutionise

(4) Revolutionise , Ran to form beaten 2l off 73 at Kempton last time; returning from a break; a little in and out of late, but generally reliable; very well treated on old form; threat back from break
C&D winner; has run well fresh, but others make more appeal back from 111 days off.
5
5
(5) Local Bay ( )
Local Bay

0
()
(5) Local Bay , Improved a fraction in first-time cheekpieces landing a handicap by a neck off 63 over 8f here last time; top course trainer; down in trip; in good form; likes the track; top jockey booked; could follow up
3-13 here and despite a 2lb rise is still well treated on last summer's form; player.
LTO Selection:

Crimson Spirit faces a different test here than when winning over the straight 7f at Salisbury. He's still preferred to Great Blasket, who seems best over a mile nowadays and won over that trip at Chepstow last week. However, LOCAL BAY has eased in the weights and took advantage to record his third victory at the track at the start of this month. He remains well treated and Tom Marquand's presence in the saddle is another positive.

The choice is CRIMSON SPIRIT (nap) who looked progressive when winning at Salisbury. A penalty may well not stop him from following up.

9
(9) Forest Haze ( )
Forest Haze

0
()
(9) Forest Haze , Ran to form beaten 6l in a handicap at Leicester last time; still finding level, unplaced in opening ten starts; may improve in first time cheekpieces
Ten defeats include three for her current yard and overall profile is none too compelling.
LTO Selection:

There were encouraging signs from Edvard Grieg, who was able to hit the frame in a classified event at Brighton latest and a maiden triumph might not be far away now. However, preference is for DR RIO. The four-time course winner (one over C&D) kept on well into fourth over the extended mile here last month, but he is expected to build on that back at this longer trip. Arch Legend struggled at Hamilton recently but returning to this venue could aid his cause.

He's a 9yo now but DR RIO could run around here with his eyes shut and he did well to go close over an inadequate trip last time.

(6) Questa Notte ( )
Questa Notte

0
()
(6) Questa Notte , 80,000gns Elzaam filly; half-sister to Live In The Dream, top-class at 5f; hood first time; top course jockey; yard does well here; market may prove best guide
Looks the part on breeding and market should be interesting on debut; hood on.
LTO Selection:

William Haggas boasts a good strike-rate at the track and KINSWOMAN makes plenty of appeal back in maiden company. She finished a solid second at Windsor on her handicap debut and the third has subsequently franked that form. The daughter of Mehmas should have the measure of Musical Angel, but Wild Clary could prove a bigger threat with last week's Windsor reappearance under his belt.

This can go to KINSWOMAN who is gradually getting there and the form of her latest Windsor second is working out well.

Shimmering Sands

(7) Shimmering Sands , Below form again beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at York last time; form has been going the wrong way and a bit to prove though mark is falling
He's not won in two years and was behind some of these at York where he raced freely.
8
8
(8) Princess Niyla ( )
Princess Niyla

0
()
(8) Princess Niyla , Scored by 1/2l off 65 here penultimate start; well beaten up in class off a revised mark of 68 last time; needs to bounce back, but had been consistent prior to latest start
Has plenty of ground to make up with some of these on York form.
LTO Selection:

GINCIDENT has been in consistent form this season and he looks the one to beat on the back of a highly creditable second at York last time out. The 3lb rise looks manageable for James Owen's charge, and he is preferred to Papagei, who should be suited by dropping in trip, having shown up well for a long way before eventually finishing third over further at Lingfield last month. Spioradalta (sixth) doesn't have much to find with the selection from that York contest and also has strong claims based on his penultimate success at Ripon.

Gincident is greatly feared but it could be worth risking PAPAGEI who is likely to be given a positive ride at this trip.

(4) Banksman , Seemed to improve again won a classified race at Lingfield by 2 1/2l last time; trainer in form; progressive; enjoys fast ground; fair claims in hat trick bid
Has taken off this month; major player in hat-trick bid despite 6lb penalty.
LTO Selection:

Similar to his stable, BANKSMAN has been in excellent form of late and, turned out again quickly after a taking success at Lingfield on Saturday, he should be capable of landing the hat-trick. Second over C&D last time out, Monks Mead can follow him home off 1lb higher, while Alice's Impact bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort at Chepstow last week and is another to bear in mind.

This can go to BANKSMAN who arrives here in fine fettle and should take all the beating in his hat-trick bid.

LTO Selection:

Fancied on debut at Nottingham earlier in the month, FOREVER PENYWERN appeared to be getting the hang of things late in the piece and, with normal improvement expected, he can strike for connections that do extremely well here. A creditable fourth on the back of being gelded at Lingfield most recently, Special Ghaiyyath must be thereabouts again, despite being winless in seven starts. Proud Power looks to be the pick of the newcomers.

Special Ghaiyyath should be involved once more but it's not hard to prefer FOREVER PENYWERN after his pleasing debut.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
