KIENTZHEIM's latest effort at Southwell was disappointing on the face of it, with the mare only able to finish fourth after some less than fluent jumping. However, that run was needed to qualify her for this valuable prize and a mark of 120 doesn't appear to be unduly harsh. Wolf Moon caught the eye behind the highly-touted Palladium at Huntingdon before winning both subsequent outings, at Southwell and back at Huntingdon. He has to enter the reckoning along with St Pancras and Marche D'aligre.

Although he's been deserted by Harry Cobden, NARDARAN looks interesting off bottom weight. Serious Challenge is second pick.

The well-bred Antrim, a close relative of star performer Enable, is entitled to step forward from his fifth at Yarmouth having completely blown the start. Rahiebb makes his turf debut after a couple of starts at Newcastle last month but whether a step up in trip is the right move remains to be seen. Renato is likely to enter the reckoning judged on his runner-up efforts at Kempton and Southwell, but OPPORTUNITY might be the answer. The son of Frankel shaped with a fair amount of promise, despite his relative inexperience, at Nottingham in October and that run should bring him forward considerably.

An interesting novice. OPPORTUNITY shaped with considerable promise in his run last season and William Haggas has him in the Derby.

COYY displayed plenty of promise when finishing fourth on his debut at Newbury a couple of weeks ago and that experience could prove to be vital here. Stardinia is out of a mare who was a Listed winner as a juvenile and the daughter of Starman has to be of interest. Brocklesby fifth Mighty Vega brings strong form to the table, while others to consider are Farough and Logi Bear.

Some interesting newcomers but both Mighty Vega and COYY ran to a useful level on debut and can put their experience to good use.

BEANO POWER lost out by a neck at Dundalk just over a fortnight ago. She has form on rain-softened ground and competes off a very handy mark with Sorcha Woods claiming 7lb. Step Back In Time has won twice at this track, including over an extended 5f earlier this month. The handicapper has had his say, although she can still go well. Catherine Chroi is in decent form but tries 5f for just the third time in her career, while Inishmot Prince and Twotolose, in the first-time hood, could get into contention. Mary Shoelaces is more than capable after a good third in a higher grade at the Curragh, but the forecast rain doesn't look ideal for her.

Rated 67 when second in a soft-ground C&D maiden at two, BEANO POWER gets the vote to exploit a current mark of 53 after a good AW run

RISKINTHEGROUND is 12lb higher than a brace of victories in a pair of valuable contests at Ayr and Cheltenham. The eight-year-old has been a huge assistance for his trainer's effort to land his first title and has the opportunity to land one more blow. Eyed continues to progress nicely over fences and an aggressive ride dropped in trip would give him every chance. Bad didn't seem to relish the Aintree fences in the Topham and the return to a right-handed track may well be in his favour.

Classic Anthem and Riskintheground are big dangers but EYED might trump them both given the steady progress he's been making.

Yokohama was given a chance by the handicapper on turf and ran with plenty of credit when second at Newbury a fortnight ago. A 3lb rise is unlikely to stop him from being competitive, while Salamanca City is capable of building on her return third at Wolverhampton. The vote, though, goes to INDIVIDUALISM, who returns following wind surgery and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the four-year-old had further improvement to come.

The market moves need a close check but it's YOKOHAMA who gets the vote on recent evidence.

BILLYJOH struggled to make much of an impact on his seasonal return at Doncaster, but the five-year-old is well handicapped on the pick of his form last year and it would be no surprise to see him play a leading role in this company. Strike Red is another who may improve for a recent comeback run, while Completely Random edges out Havana Pusey to be best of the rest.

Rousing Encore and Havana Pusey are respected but COMPLETELY RANDOM (nap) looked a sprinter to follow at Southwell.

CHARLES DARWIN is a full-brother to a Middle Park winner and can reap the benefit of a run in the Curragh. He wasn't beaten far into fourth and improvement should be forthcoming. Cut in the ground isn't a negative for progeny of his sire. Joseph O'Brien introduces a pair of colts in Clarity of Thought and Estoublon who hold entries in an early-closing Listed race at Redcar. Both made good money at the sales and have to be respected. Echo Of Faith, Harmani and Ipanema Beach are newcomers worth a market check in what could be an informative maiden.

GAELIC WARRIOR bounced right back to his very best in the Bowl at Aintree when proving too strong for Grey Dawning under a fine ride from Patrick Mullins. The demands of Sandown can really play to his strengths and he leads a formidable team for Willie Mullins. Gentleman De Mee produced a classy display to land the Topham, despite his jumping not being particularly fluent, although his stable companion Appreciate It may pose a stronger threat after being brought down in the Grand National when just beginning to creep into contention. Pic D'Orhy missed Aintree for a contest that appears tailor-made for him, but Dan Skelton's sole runner Boombawn has something to find, even after a career best at Aintree.

Having returned to his best with a win in the Grade 1 Bowl at Aintree this month, GAELIC WARRIOR is taken to follow up.

Naval Command showed promise when fourth on debut at Kempton in October and it's noteworthy that William Buick rides him over newcomer Urban Warrior. That said, a chance can be taken on SKIMMER, who lacks race experience but is a half-brother to St Leger hero Logician, as well as Group 3 winner Okeechobee. Revelio and Tarriance are other interesting newcomers, while Asmen Warrior is capable of making the frame.

Asmen Warrior has the benefit of a run and it was a good one. However, SKIMMER is very interesting with Oisin Murphy up top.

ENGLISH OAK progressed up the handicap ranks which culminated with an impressive display in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot. The five-year-old's best effort up in class came when runner-up in Listed company at Newbury and, having been gelded at the end of last season, appears to have an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways. Skukuza was runner-up in the Britannia and makes his first appearance since with strong credentials, while Cerulean Bay and Yorkshire appear best of the remainder.

C&D winner GORAK ran well first time up last season and is on a handy mark, and this front-runner is taken to exploit the rail draw.

Campaigned aggressively as a juvenile, WHISTLEJACKET raced in Ireland, the UK, France and America, winning three times from eight starts, including the Prix Morny at Deauville. In Group 1 company on his last four outings, he should appreciate this drop in grade. Cowardofthecounty beat the selection on debut at the Curragh around this time last year and since won a Group 3 in France. A disappointing last of nine in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at ParisLongchamp in October, it'll be interesting to see how he fares on his comeback. Ides Of March also claimed a Group 3 as a juvenile and warrants the utmost respect after finishing seventh when last seen at the Breeders' Cup. The hat-trick seeking Bodhi Bear has race fitness on his side and should give a good account of himself.

A 5lb penalty for his Group 1 win in the Prix Morny should be no obstacle to WHISTLEJACKET, who prospered during a busy juvenile season

Kitzbuhel is likely to have his supporters but considering he was sent off favourite in Grade 1 company at the Grand National meeting, it was an underwhelming performance to only finish fifth. Willie Mullins will be hoping the first-time hood ekes out more from his five-year-old, but LUCKY PLACE looks the way to go. Nicky Henderson's gelding is a dual Grade 2 winner and may not have appreciated the step up in trip when only seventh in the Stayers' Hurdle. Take No Chances has acquitted herself well behind Lossiemouth the last twice and is another to note.

The drop back in trip and possible settling effect of the first-time hood could be positives for the lightly raced 5yo KITZBUHEL.

An inside berth could benefit the returning GUENDOLEN, who was last seen finishing a creditable third at Wolverhampton in October. The unexposed four-year-old should have more to offer this term and, with Oisin Murphy booked for the first time, it would come as no surprise were she to find some improvement. Sceptic is a player back on the turf, while Douglas Dc could pick up some more minor money having reached the frame on his last couple of starts.

Guendolen makes some appeal but narrow preference is for LITTLE TIGER who has won after a break and won over C&D last July.

AFLOAT caught the eye when failing get a clear run at Leicester on her first run for new connections and dropping back in trip looks like a good move for the five-year-old. A mark of 76 seems manageable and she is narrowly preferred to unexposed handicap debutant Roland Garros, as well as Azahara Palace, who ended last season with two solid placed efforts. Hamlet's Night and Live Aid cannot be ruled out either.

Preference is for AFLOAT (nap), who travelled well when she was denied a clear run on her reappearance at Leicester.

By far the highest-rated runner in the line-up, this should be straightforward for KYPRIOS. The remarkable stayer has already won this race twice before and was a perfect seven from seven last season, winning four Group 1s in a row before lifting the Long Distance Cup on British Champions Day. A fine second on her debut for Willie McCreery at Naas last month, Enfranchise could prove best of the rest. She kept on well in the closing stages at the Tipper Road venue and should appreciate this longer trip. Although the lowest-rated of the eight, the progressive Leinster is an interesting contender. He comfortably accounted for 17 rivals when making all on his return to action at the Curragh and steps up in class now. Poetic Sound, Dawn Rising and Sonnyboyliston are others capable of making an impact.

JONBON is bidding for a third straight Celebration Chase and may have an easier task this time around, as he faced a 175-rated El Fabiolo in last year's renewal. The 10-time Grade 1 winner made a costly mistake in the Champion Chase before putting that well behind him to retain his crown in the Melling Chase at Aintree. He is tough to oppose, with his main threat possibly Il Etait Temps, who has struck at the top level in three of his last four starts but arrives on the back of a year-long absence. Of the remainder, Unexpected Party makes the most appeal.

A fit and fresh Il Etait Temps could make it interesting but he and the remainder are reliant upon JONBON fluffing his lines.

An open contest in which only a tentative vote can go to ORNATELY, who recorded a comfortable success at Wolverhampton on her handicap debut in February. Absent since, the daughter of Kingman should relish the switch to turf and, from 4lb higher, is expected to go close. Mamma Maria displayed promise without ever looking likely last season, but Dubawi's offspring can often be late bloomers and improvement is anticipated on this first start as a three-year-old. Knights Gold is also noted.

There are at least two potential improvers but ORNATELY can follow up her Wolverhampton win, with Knights Gold respected.

The Kevin Ryan stable has hit form of late and this looks like an ideal opportunity for BELSITO to regain the winning thread after wind surgery, having ended last year with a pair of creditable runner-up efforts at Redcar. Now in the hands of trainer Phillip Makin after scoring at Bath for previous connections last September, Annie Edson Taylor is a player on her return, along with Safari Dream, who has not been beaten far on the all-weather lately. Others to note include Bear Rock, Roaring Ralph and Roundhay Park.

The in-form Ed Walker saddles ARNAZ, who had a solid campaign last season and is open to further improvement this term.

Despite proving fractious in the preliminaries prior to her introduction at Leopardstown, CATALINA DELCARPIO could hardly have been more impressive. A 400,000gns yearling purchase, she readily accounted for six rivals and while in a much deeper contest now, could prove up to the task. The choice of Ryan Moore, Ecstatic looks the best of Aidan O'Brien's three. A fine second on her return to action at the Curragh, she should appreciate this step up to a mile and a quarter. Like the selection, Tarima impressed on debut at Leopardstown and looks the main danger. A half-sister to multiple Group 1 winners Tarnawa and Tahiyra, this Lope De Vega chestnut could very well emulate her siblings in time. Barnavara and Wemightakedlongway are the highest-rated of those with a mark and should step forward after failing to make an impact on their returns at the same Leopardstown fixture last month.

Willie Mullins seems to be throwing everything at this in his bid to retain his title and the classy DANCING CITY could be the one to get him over the line. A three-time Grade 1 winner over hurdles last year, the eight-year-old still looked to be going well when falling at Aintree and going up in trip looks like a plus when it comes to his jumping. Touched off in a Grade 3 at Thurles in March, High Class Hero is another with the potential for improvement over further, while Grangeclare West arrives on the back of a cracking third in the Grand National. A winner on his last two Sandown starts over 3m, Hoe Joly Smoke seems the best of the British, along with Resplendent Grey and Transmission.

The Grand National distance found MINELLA COCOONER out three weeks ago but his career peak came when winning this race last year.

INVINCIBLE SPEED sprung a 40/1 surprise when scoring at Lingfield on his most recent start and a 5lb rise might underestimate the authority he showed over his rivals that day. If the four-year-old can transfer that form to turf, he will prove difficult to beat. Ziggy's Condor wasn't disgraced in fourth at Wolverhampton last month and should remain competitive off a 1lb lower rating. Mart looks best of the rest.

Momaer is handicapped to win but INVINCIBLE SPEED is suggested in the hope he can match his recent AW form now back on turf.

Turned out again quickly after a comfortable success on handicap debut at Yarmouth on Tuesday, MAELSTROM sets the standard on form and he looks well capable of following up under a 6lb penalty. A mark of 68 could prove lenient for Lord Capulet on his handicap debut, while Vault Of Heaven ran a career-best when narrowly denied at Newcastle in November and may have more to offer.

This is really all about MAELSTROM providing the quick return from a wide-margin win at Yarmouth on Tuesday doesn't count against him.

Given that the Murtagh-trained Dakota Blue beat two of the leading contenders for this in a similar contest here earlier in the month, he should know what is required. Vorfreude, who finished second in that race 18 days ago, should go close. Joseph Murphy's son of Bated Breath had shown promise in two starts as a juvenile last term. Nobler, a place behind in third, should also be very competitive.

Artificer has a good chance but a chance is taken on BRAES OF DOUNE being ready on his first start since September.

If Dan Skelton is still within touching distance of the trainers' title by the finale, he may have one more ace in the pack in MOSTLY SUNNY. An impressive winner at Plumpton on Monday, the six-year-old is turned out again quickly under a 6lb penalty, which may not be enough to prevent the double. Willie Mullins' Bunting hasn't shown much this season, but he hinted at a return to form with a respectable effort in the Scottish Champion Hurdle, while his stablemate Dr Eggman makes his handicap debut on the back of a creditable second at Cheltenham. Got Grey (Skelton) and Jump Allen (Mullins) are entitled to be thereabouts as well.

The selection JUMP ALLEN (nap), for Willie Mullins, was eclipsed over 3m at Ayr two weeks ago but still looked promising.

King Of The Jungle finished a fair third at Southwell on his latest outing and could feature off the same mark, but the vote goes to SHARK TWO ONE. Jessica Macey's seven-year-old fared best of those up with the pace when fading into third at Thirsk a couple of weeks ago and a similar effort will make him hard to beat. Raft Up is another to bear in mind after his second over C&D.

Raft Up is solid but GRAND CITADEL's second at Navan last summer suggests she could be well ahead of this mark on stable debut.

She missed the break over 7f at Newbury on her introduction, but finished strongly to take fourth and the daughter of Dubawi is taken to build on that promising effort. Silver Chamber is another likely to improve over today's longer trip, having shown some ability over 7f at Newmarket on debut, while Blue Wonder should have more to offer based on a couple of respectable efforts on the all-weather. Bintalina and Althawaqeb are newcomers to note.

By Dubawi and from a prolific Cheveley Park family, CAJOLE is bred to be smart and her Newbury run was seriously eyecatching.

Off an identical mark to which she won over C&D last July, DOCTOR GRACE catches the eye. A consistent mare on the Polytrack since switching to Ado McGuinness, the five-year-old is equally at home on turf. A hold-up horse who enjoys coming from off the pace, a big-field handicap on this galloping track suits her ideally. Provided she gets the breaks at the right time, the daughter of Buratino can record a fourth career success. The Real Screamer signed off last year with two impressive wins at Dundalk. If the Paul Flynn-trained gelding handles the grass in a similar fashion, he must go close. Abbey Actress is another to consider.

A hopeful each-way vote goes to GOTTA CATCH'EM ALL whose trainer Harry Rogers has his team in good form.

Artisan Dancer should also be competitive.

Last year's runner-up DIAMAND DE VINDECY can go one better, following on from his reappearance win at Pontefract.

YEHUDI was gelded over the winter and returned with a good effort when a close third at Wolverhampton. The son of Bated Breath has kindly had his mark left alone for that encouraging effort and is fancied to build on it. Francis Drake was pipped on his first start in a handicap over this distance at Lingfield last month and may have found the drop to 6f out of his comfort zone subsequently. Queen Of Good News is the pick of the remainder.

Plenty of these carry risks but TARLAC may not have reached his ceiling and he gets the verdict after a promising effort last time.

Placed at Newcastle in February, ROYAL ALLIANCE disappointed over 1m3f last time, but the son of Persian King could make a bold bid dropping back to a mile with cheekpieces applied. Better is expected from Yabher, having struggled at Newmarket on his recent handicap debut and the Haggas charge is preferred to Southwell winner Well Enough, while Tremolo landed a novices race at Southwell in December and Harry Charlton's inmate is another to note in an open contest.

If tapping back into his debut promise and there have been valid excuses since, then YABHER might be the answer.

It could pay to take a chance on CLUB MANAGER on his first start for Ross O'Sullivan. A winning hurdler, the five-year-old remains relatively unexposed on the Flat after just four starts on the turf. Although his all-weather record is somewhat patchy, he is almost certainly a better horse with a significant ease in the ground. A thorough stayer who won over two miles, he has had few chances over a real stamina test. As long as the ground doesn't dry out too much, he can be involved. Forlio should appreciate this easier grade having shown up well on his return, and he has run with credit here previously. Wednesday's Gowran runner-up Elle Dorado Rock and recent course scorer The Truant have to be considered closely too.

Despite having plenty go against her, Invisible still managed to hit the crossbar on her second appearance, outrunning odds of 100/1 at Chelmsford last month. Speaktotheguvnor is another to watch out for.

Thanks Angel is respected but ALFAREQA, a very well-bred filly who had an excuse on her only 2yo outing, gets the vote.

Archie Watson's gelding may have more to offer this year and clearly sets the standard in this company. Our Planet was only narrowly denied over C&D on his return to the fray and should not be underestimated, while similar comments apply to Peregrine Falcon.

An interesting race in which OUR PLANET gets the vote ahead of Carrados and Southwell winner Sudden Flight.

Recent Yarmouth winner Dorney Lake is a good starting point for this competitive sprint handicap and he has a reasonable chance of following up, despite a 6lb higher rating. However, this is deeper and many have chances. KODI LION, who is unexposed but capable over the trip, is one who can have a bigger say, with improvement possible after resuming for Mick Appleby at Thirsk a fortnight ago. Smart Vision and It Just Takes Time are two more to consider.

Smart Vision is respected but KODI LION (nap) made a pleasing return at Thirsk and can strike on his second run for Mick Appleby.

PISANELLO returned to the fray with a promising third over C&D. That points to a big run here and David O'Meara's charge may edge this at the main expense of Garden Oasis, who finished just behind the selection on his comeback and has won six times at this venue. Urban Sprawl made an encouraging return to turf when fourth at Newmarket's Craven meeting, and Stockpyle could get involved too.

Off a workable mark, STOCKPYLE is taken to record a first success since joining his new stable. Pisanello is second choice.

Dubai Beach took a big step forward when a one-length second at Kempton in November and she has to be of note on her return. That said, marginal preference is for TROPICAL HEAT, who offered plenty to work with on her debut second at Salisbury as a juvenile in July last year. French Sand is another with strong form claims, while Cuban Lady completes the shortlist.

This can go to FRENCH SAND who deserves to go one better after finishing second in both starts over C&D last month.

Sea Emily Run, who was pitched into the Bosra Sham at Newmarket when last seen, is another notable type on her handicap bow, while similar comments apply to Galaxy Zoo, who debuts on turf after a maiden success over 5f at Wolverhampton.

DANDY DINMONT, who won over C&D off 4lb higher last July, hasn't done much wrong in a couple of similar events of late and returns to this happy hunting ground with a big chance of holding sway. Fellow course winner Toptime was three places behind the selection in sixth when they clashed here at the Lincoln fixture but has a solid each-way chance off 1lb lower. Honour Your Dreams and Glendown are others capable of bold showings.

Following two good thirds, DANDY DINMONT looks ready to strike. His main danger could be Opal Storm, unlucky in running last time.

THREATENING makes a quick return to action having made a winning handicap debut at Southwell six days ago. He still showed signs of inexperience on that occasion, but the application of cheekpieces will help on that score and Sir Mark Prescott's charge can shrug off a 6lb penalty. Southwell winner Crest Of Light could be on the premises once again, while Unforgetable Belle ended last season with a victory on testing ground at Leicester and is one to note.

Sir Mark Prescott's THREATENING can follow up his Southwell win, while Crest Of Light is also respected.

It may be worth siding with MAN OF RIDDLES who has dropped 9lb below his last winning mark. His last appearance here was encouraging.

Must Believe, Aphrodites Rock, Crackalackin and Zabeel Rain all try first-time headgear and it will be interesting to see how the betting market reacts. However, RIYADH GEM made a successful handicap debut when he was last seen, which went some way to justifying the 150,000 euros his connections parted with to buy him. A rating of 71 could be well within range, while Rory's Gold is feared the most off a workable mark on his handicap bow.

This can go to last November's Southwell nursery winner RIYADH GEM, whose pedigree suggests she should appreciate this step up in trip.
